Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates generally to the field of vehicle manufacturing, and more particularly to a vehicle door assembly. The invention further relates to a method for assembling such a door assembly, and to a vehicle comprising such a door assembly.
Background
A handle assembly for opening a door from the outside of a vehicle is generally mounted to a door structure by a plate-like bracket fixed between an outer door panel and an inner door panel. To ensure the aesthetic appearance of the vehicle body construction, the outer end of the handle assembly (i.e., the surface of the handle bar facing the outside of the vehicle) is generally designed to be flush with the outside of the door outer panel.
FIG. 1 is an outboard schematic view of a prior art door assembly. As shown in fig. 1, the door assembly includes: the door inner panel 1, the door outer panel 2 (not shown in fig. 1), a plurality of reinforcement beams (a first reinforcement beam 41, a second reinforcement beam 42, and a third reinforcement beam 43 connecting the first reinforcement beam 41 and the second reinforcement beam 42 as shown) fixed to the outside of the door inner panel 1, and a handle assembly (not shown in the figure) fastened to the inside of the door outer panel 2 by the plate bracket 3.
Fig. 2A to 2C are schematic views showing an assembly step of the plate-like bracket 3 and the door outer panel 2 in the door assembly shown in fig. 1. First, as shown in fig. 2A, three studs 5 are attached to a specific position inside the door outer panel 2; then, a plate-like bracket 3 as shown in fig. 2B is provided, the plate-like bracket 3 being provided with a bracket handle opening 31 for extending the handle bar of the handle assembly, four first holes 32 for fixing the handle assembly, and three second holes 33 for passing through by the studs 5; then, as shown in fig. 2C, structural adhesive is applied to the plate-like bracket 3 at a plurality of positions 35 adjacent to each of the second holes 33, and each stud 5 is passed through the corresponding second hole 33 to attach and screw the plate-like bracket 3 with the structural adhesive to the inside of the door outer panel 2, and to align the bracket handle opening 31 of the plate-like bracket 3 with the outer panel handle opening 21 of the door outer panel 2. Further, as shown in fig. 1, a cushion rubber may be disposed between the upper edge position 341 of the plate-like bracket 3 and the first reinforcing beam 41, and between the side edge position 342 of the plate-like bracket 3 and the third reinforcing beam 43.
The disadvantage of this connection of the plate-like bracket 3 to the door outer panel 2 by means of the stud 5 and the structural adhesive is that, due to the fact that both the adhesive strength of the stud 5 and the adhesive strength of the structural adhesive used to adhere the plate-like bracket 3 are large, a large force is applied to the door outer panel 2, which results in deformation of the door outer panel 2, which affects the sensory quality of the vehicle body.

Detailed Description
The making and using of the specific embodiments are discussed in detail below. It should be understood, however, that the detailed description and the specific examples, while indicating specific ways of making and using the invention, are given by way of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention.
In this specification, directional expressions such as "upper", "lower", "top", "bottom", etc. are not absolute, but relative, in describing the structural position of each component. These directional expressions are appropriate when the various components are arranged as shown in the figures, but should be changed as the position of the various components in the figures changes.
In the present specification, "inner" and "outer" are defined with reference to the direction of the vehicle interior and exterior, and for example, "inner" refers to the side facing the vehicle interior and "outer" refers to the side facing the vehicle exterior. In the drawings, the X-direction indicates the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the Y-direction indicates the lateral direction of the vehicle, and the Z-direction indicates the vertical direction of the vehicle.
FIG. 3 is an outside schematic view of one embodiment of a vehicle door assembly according to the present invention. As shown in fig. 3, the door assembly according to the present invention includes: the door inner panel 1, the door outer panel 2 (not shown in fig. 3, refer to the door outer panel 2 provided with the outer panel handle opening 21 shown in fig. 2A and 2C), at least one (preferably a plurality of) reinforcing beam, and a handle assembly (not shown in the figures) to which fixation is performed by the plate bracket 3.
The at least one reinforcement beam is fixed to the door inner panel 1 between the door inner panel 1 and the door outer panel 2, and includes, for example: the first reinforcement beam 41 fixed to the waist position of the door inner panel 1 and extending substantially horizontally, the second reinforcement beam 42 fixed to the bottom position of the door inner panel 1 and extending obliquely with respect to the horizontal direction, and the third reinforcement beam 43 connecting the substantially central position of the first reinforcement beam 41 with the substantially central position of the second reinforcement beam 42 and extending substantially vertically. These reinforcing beams are fixed to the outer side of the door inner panel 1, for example, by welding, and a cushion rubber may be disposed between these reinforcing beams and the inner side of the door outer panel 2. It should be understood that the "damping gel" is only a kind of damping member and not a connecting member or a fixing member, and mainly plays a role of damping and buffering.
Fig. 4A is an outside schematic view of the plate-like bracket 3 in the door assembly shown in fig. 3, and fig. 4B is an inside schematic view of the plate-like bracket 3 in the door assembly shown in fig. 3. As shown in fig. 4A and 4B, the plate bracket 3 is provided with a bracket handle opening 31 for aligning with the outer plate handle opening 21 to protrude the handle bar of the handle assembly, and is provided with four first holes 32 for fixing the handle assembly. The handle assembly is fixed to the inside of the plate-like bracket 3 by screws passing through these first holes 32.
It will be appreciated that the handle assembly, not shown, for example, includes a handle support fixed to the plate-like bracket 3, and a handle lever and a rotation shaft fitted to the handle support, the handle lever being visible from the outside of the vehicle through the bracket handle opening 31 and the outside plate handle opening 21 so as to open the door by pulling the handle lever to rotate about the rotation shaft.
In order to avoid deformation of the door outer panel 2 due to the mounting of the plate-like bracket 3, the present invention proposes to change the mounting manner of the plate-like bracket 3, i.e., the plate-like bracket 3 is fastened to the door inner panel 1 and at least one reinforcing beam on the door inner panel 1 without being connected to the door outer panel 2. That is, the handle assembly is fastened to the door inner panel 1 and the at least one reinforcement beam by the plate-like bracket 3, and the outer end of the handle assembly (i.e., the surface of the handle lever facing the outside of the vehicle) can be made flush with the outside of the door outer panel 2 through the bracket handle opening 31 and the outer panel handle opening 21 aligned with each other.
More specifically, the plate bracket 3 includes at least one inner panel connection portion 36 and at least one reinforcement beam connection portion adjacent to the edges thereof for being fastened to the door inner panel 1 and the at least one reinforcement beam, respectively. As a non-limiting example, the at least one inner panel connection portion 36 and the at least one reinforcement beam connection portion are adhered to the door inner panel 1 and the at least one reinforcement beam, respectively, by structural adhesive.
For example, as shown in fig. 3, 4A and 4B, the plate bracket 3 includes two inner panel connecting portions 36 protruding from upper and lower corner positions thereof, respectively, and the two inner panel connecting portions 36 may be slightly bent toward the door inner panel 1, for example, to be adhered to the door inner panel 1 by applying a structural adhesive. It will be appreciated that the number and positions of the inner panel connection portions 36 are not limiting, and may be determined according to the actual configuration of the panel bracket 3 and the door inner panel 1.
Also for example, as shown in fig. 3, the plate-like bracket 3 includes a first reinforcement beam connecting portion 371 adjacent to an upper edge thereof and a second reinforcement beam connecting portion 372 adjacent to a side edge thereof, the first reinforcement beam connecting portion 371 and the second reinforcement beam connecting portion 372 being adhered to the first reinforcement beam 41 and the third reinforcement beam 43, respectively, by applying a structural adhesive. It will be appreciated that the number and location of the reinforcement beam connections is also not limiting and may be determined according to the actual configuration of the plate-like brackets 3 and the reinforcement beam.
In assembling the door assembly, first, the first, second, and third reinforcement beams 41, 42, and 43 are fixed to the outer side of the door inner panel 1; then, the handle assembly is fixed to the plate bracket 3, and the plate bracket 3 with the handle assembly is adhered to the door inner panel 1, the first reinforcement beam 41, and the third reinforcement beam 43 by structural adhesive to achieve fastening of the handle assembly on the door inner panel 1 and these reinforcement beams; finally, the edge of the door inner panel 1 is connected to the edge of the door outer panel 2, and the edge of the door outer panel 2 is wrapped around and adhered to the edge of the door inner panel 1, for example, by a hemming device, to complete the assembly of the entire door assembly.
Thus, in the door assembly according to the present invention, the handle bar arrangement region on the door outer panel 2 is not connected to the plate-like bracket 3 and the door inner panel 1, and thus deformation of the door outer panel 2 due to a large force applied to the door outer panel 2 is avoided, thereby ensuring good sensory quality of the vehicle body.
While the foregoing has described the technical content and features of the present invention, it will be appreciated that those skilled in the art, upon attaining the teachings of the present invention, may make variations and improvements to the concepts disclosed herein, which fall within the scope of the present invention.
The above description of embodiments is illustrative and not restrictive, and the scope of the invention is defined by the claims.
