技术领域
本公开涉及一种电子装置的驱动方法,尤其涉及一种显示设备及其驱动方法。
背景技术
在现有技术中,电子装置为显示设备而具有显示面板时,显示面板的像素排列方式可能有很多种。一种是同一条数据线电性连接到位于同一列(column)的子像素电路,且位于同一列的子像素电路控制相同颜色的子像素(第一种排列方式);另一种是同一条数据在线所电性连接的子像素电路位于不同的子像素列,且位于不同列的子像素电路具有不同的颜色(第二种排列方式)。
在第一种排列方式中,显示面板在显示灰色背景及大面积纯色区域的图像画面时,图像画面中的纯色区域容易在垂直方向上影响到其他显示灰色背景区域的显示质量。在第二种排列方式中,若数据线的电阻电容愈大,图像画面的显示质量也愈容易受到影响。
在现有技术中,为了提高图像画面的显示质量,必须使用硬件成本较高的缓冲器电路来存储要显示的图像画面,并且通过复杂的方式来计算图像画面的补偿灰阶值。
发明内容
本公开提供一种电子装置及显示设备的驱动方法,可通过成本较低的像素补偿电路,来决定子像素灰阶的补偿灰阶值,以改善图像画面的显示质量。
本公开的电子装置包括像素补偿电路以及显示面板。像素补偿电路接收像素信号。像素信号包括多个子像素灰阶值。像素补偿电路根据子像素灰阶值之间的差值以及第一阈值来补偿子像素灰阶值以输出调整像素信号。显示面板根据调整像素信号来显示图像画面。
本公开的实施例中,当子像素灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值,且多个子像素灰阶值之间的差值大于或等于第二阈值时,像素补偿电路决定补偿子像素灰阶值。
本公开的实施例中,像素补偿电路根据补偿灰阶值来补偿子像素灰阶值,且补偿灰阶值和子像素灰阶值的总和小于或等于参考灰阶值。
本公开的实施例中,补偿灰阶值是固定值。
本公开的实施例中,补偿灰阶值是根据子像素灰阶值来决定。
本公开的电子装置的驱动方法包括:接收像素信号,其中像素信号包括多个子像素灰阶值;分别根据子像素灰阶值来决定子像素灰阶值的补偿灰阶值;根据补偿灰阶值来补偿子像素灰阶值以输出调整像素信号,其中补偿灰阶值和子像素灰阶值的总和小于或等于参考灰阶值;以及根据调整像素信号来驱动显示面板显示图像画面。
本公开的实施例中,电子装置的驱动方法还包括:当子像素灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值,且子像素灰阶值之间的差值大于或等于第二阈值时,决定补偿子像素灰阶值。

图1示出本公开一实施例的电子装置的方块示意图。请参考图1,电子装置100包括像素补偿电路110及显示面板120。像素补偿电路110接收像素信号S1并输出调整像素信号S2。像素信号S1包括多个子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb),其中Gr例如是红色子像素灰阶值,Gg例如是绿色子像素灰阶值,Gb例如是蓝色子像素灰阶值,但不以此为限。像素补偿电路110根据子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)之间的差值以及第一阈值TH01来决定子像素灰阶值的补偿灰阶值。举例而言,经判断,若红色子像素灰阶值Gr和/或蓝色子像素灰阶值Gb需要被补偿(即补偿灰阶值大于0),则被补偿的子像素灰阶值包括红色子像素灰阶值Gr和/或蓝色子像素灰阶值Gb。被补偿的子像素灰阶值可能是子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)当中至少一个子像素灰阶值,但不以此为限。
显示面板120接收像素补偿电路110所输出的调整像素信号S2。显示面板120根据调整像素信号S2以显示图像画面。调整像素信号S2可能是经补偿后的像素信号,也可能是没有经过补偿的像素信号(即补偿灰阶值等于0,等于像素信号S1)。
在本实施例中,像素补偿电路110例如是设置在时序控制器或源极驱动器中,但本公开不限于此。像素补偿电路110可以是通过硬件描述语言(Hardware DescriptionLanguage,HDL)或是其他任意本领域技术人员所熟知的电路设计方式来进行设计,并通过现场可程序逻辑门数组(Field Programmable Gate Array,FPGA)、复杂可程序逻辑装置(Complex Programmable Logic Device,CPLD)或是特殊应用集成电路(Application-specific Integrated Circuit,ASIC)的方式来实现的电路架构,但本公开不限于此。
图2示出本公开一实施例的显示面板所显示的图像画面的示意图。请参考图1及图2,显示面板120接收像素补偿电路110所输出的调整像素信号S2以显示图像画面200。在本实施例中,图像画面200包括区域R1及区域R2。区域R1包围区域R2,区域R1包括子区域210、子区域230、子区域250及子区域270。区域R1例如是各子像素灰阶值为51的图像区域,其中像素P1、像素P3的各子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)为(51,51,51)。像素P1可为子区域210中的任一像素,像素P3可为子区域230中的任一像素。像素信号S1在未经像素补偿电路110补偿前可提供给区域R2例如显示单一颜色,例如为显示绿色的图像区域,其中像素信号S1提供给像素P2在未经补偿前的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)为(0,255,0)。像素P2可为区域R2中的任一像素。
为了降低显示区域R2的像素信号影响到子区域210和/或子区域230的像素信号而影响显示质量的问题,像素补偿电路110可对区域R2中的像素P2的像素信号进行补偿。例如,像素补偿电路110可将像素P2的子像素灰阶值调整为(X1,255,X1),其中X1为补偿灰阶值。在一实施例中,补偿灰阶值X1可以是固定值。也就是说,无论补偿前的子像素灰阶值为多少,其补偿灰阶值均相同,都是X1。
或者,在一实施例中,补偿灰阶值也可根据子像素灰阶值的大小来决定。图3示出本公开一实施例,即补偿前的子像素灰阶值与补偿灰阶值的查找表(LUT,look-up table)示意图。请参考图3,查找表300呈现补偿前的子像素灰阶值和补偿灰阶值的对应关系。补偿前的子像素灰阶值例如包括0、1至255,补偿灰阶值例如包括X1、X2至X255。在图2的实施例中,补偿灰阶值也可以根据查找表来决定。举例而言,当补偿前的子像素灰阶值为0时,补偿灰阶值为X1;当补偿前的子像素灰阶值为1时,补偿灰阶值为X2。依此类推,当补偿前的子像素灰阶值为255时,补偿灰阶值为X256。
底下说明像素补偿电路110如何根据子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)彼此之间的差值以及第一阈值TH01来决定子像素的补偿灰阶值。
在图2的实施例中,当补偿前的子像素灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值TH01时,且子像素灰阶值与其水平方向相邻两侧子像素灰阶值的差值较大者若大于或等于第二阈值TH02时,像素补偿电路110则决定对子像素进行补偿而决定补偿灰阶值。在一实施例中,第一阈值TH01例如为100,且第二阈值TH02例如为10,但不以此为限。以像素P2的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gr为例,若补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gr=0,小于第一阈值TH01,且子像素灰阶值Gr与像素P2的子像素灰阶值Gg之间的差值为255而与左侧另一像素的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的子像素灰阶值Gb之间的差值为0,因此,两差值分别为0与255,故差值之较大者(255)大于第二阈值TH02,因此,像素补偿电路110决定对子像素灰阶值Gr进行补偿,并且根据查找表300将补偿灰阶值决定为X1。再以像素P2的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gb为例,若补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gb=0,小于第一阈值TH01,且子像素灰阶值Gb与像素P2的子像素灰阶值Gg之间的差值为255而与右侧另一像素的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gr之间的差值为0,因此,两差值分别为0与255,故差值之较大者(255)大于第二阈值TH02,因此,像素补偿电路110决定对子像素灰阶值Gb进行补偿,并且根据查找表300将补偿灰阶值决定为X1。再以像素P2的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gg为例,若补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gg=255,大于第一阈值TH01,因此,像素补偿电路110将不对子像素灰阶值Gg进行补偿,换言之,即补偿灰阶值为0,故子像素灰阶值Gg仍为255。因此,像素P2补偿后的子像素灰阶值为(X1,255,X1)。
图4A示出本公开一实施例的显示面板上的像素的概要示意图。请参考图4A,显示面板120包括至少一个像素400。像素400包括红色子像素122、绿色子像素124、蓝色子像素126,但不以此为限。请同时搭配图2,图2中的像素P2可同于像素400,在未经补偿前,因绿色子像素124及蓝色子像素126其显示的灰阶值的差异较大,因此,要写入数据线D1(对应绿色子像素124)与数据线D2(对应蓝色子像素126)的数据电压之间的差距也较大,如图4A中的两个箭头410所示。由于写入数据线D1与数据线D2的数据电压差距较大,因此会影响到像素P1和/或像素P3。也就是说,在显示面板120显示图像画面200时,如果不补偿区域R2的灰阶值,就有可能影响到子区域210和/或子区域230的显示质量。
图4B示出本公开另一实施例的显示面板上的像素的概要示意图。请参考图4B,在图4B中,通过本公开实施例提供的灰阶补偿方法来补偿区域R2的子像素的灰阶值,例如提高写入数据线D2的数据电压,可降低写入数据线D1与数据线D2的数据电压的差距,如图4B中的两个箭头420所示。因此,像素补偿电路110可对区域R2中的像素P2进行补偿,以在显示面板120显示图像画面200时,降低显示区域R2的像素信号影响到子区域210和/或子区域230的像素信号而影响显示质量的问题。
图5示出本公开一实施例的像素灰阶与亮度的对应关系图,其中曲线510为侧视电子装置的亮度曲线,曲线520为正视电子装置的亮度曲线。请参考图2及图5,在图2中,像素补偿电路110根据补偿灰阶值来调整子像素灰阶值,其中补偿灰阶值和子像素灰阶值的总和可小于或等于参考灰阶值,以降低显示质量受影响的问题。参考灰阶值例如是如图5中的RG点,例如是对应灰阶值64,但不以此为限。
图6示出本公开另一实施例的显示面板上的像素的概要示意图。图7示出本公开另一实施例的灰阶值与数据电压的对应曲线图。请参考图1、图6、及图7,显示面板120包括多个像素,例如像素400_1、像素400_2、像素400_3。在本实施例中,同一条数据线电性连接位于不同像素列的子像素。以数据线D3为例,在像素行(row)N1中,数据线D3电性连接位于其右侧的绿色子像素124_1,在像素行N2中,数据线D3电性连接位于其左侧的红色子像素122_2,在像素行N3中,数据线D3电性连接位于其右侧的绿色子像素124_3。
当显示面板120要显示绿色画面时,例如绿色子像素的灰阶值为128,而红色子像素的灰阶值及蓝色子像素的灰阶值为0,写入数据线D3的数据电压依序对应绿色子像素124_1、红色子像素122_2及绿色子像素124_3,因此,写入数据线D3的数据电压会产生较大的差距,参照图7可知约为2.73伏特。因此,若驱动电路对数据线的充电能力不足时,将会影响显示画面的显示质量。
因此,在本实施例中,像素补偿电路110会根据子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)之间的差值以及第一阈值TH01来决定子像素的补偿灰阶值。举例而言,当显示面板120要显示时绿色且灰阶值为128时,其中一像素在补偿前的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)为(0,128,0),以子像素灰阶值Gr为例,补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gr=0,小于第一阈值TH01(例如为100),且子像素灰阶值Gr与子像素灰阶值Gg之间的差值为128而与左侧另一像素的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gb之间的差值为0,因此,两差值分别为0与128,故差值的较大者(128)大于第二阈值TH02(例如为10),因此,像素补偿电路110决定对子像素灰阶值Gr进行补偿,举例补偿灰阶值可为16。再以子像素灰阶值Gb为例,补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gb=0,小于第一阈值TH01(例如为100),且子像素灰阶值Gb与子像素灰阶值Gg之间的差值为128而与右侧另一像素的子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)中的Gr之间的差值为0,因此,两差值分别为0与128,故差值的较大者(128)大于第二阈值TH02(例如为10),因此,像素补偿电路110决定对子像素灰阶值Gb进行补偿,举例补偿灰阶值可为16。再以子像素灰阶值Gg为例,补偿前的子像素灰阶值Gg=128,大于第一阈值TH01(例如为100),因此,像素补偿电路110将不对子像素灰阶值Gg进行补偿,换言之,即补偿灰阶值为0,故子像素灰阶值Gg仍为128。因此,当显示面板120要显示时绿色时,补偿后的子像素灰阶值为(16,128,16)。类似地,当显示面板120要显示红色显示画面或蓝色显示画面时,像素补偿电路110可进行相同的处理,以改善显示面板所发生显示质量降低的问题。
因此,写入数据线D3的数据电压可由对应绿色子像素灰阶值128的数据电压切换至对应红色子像素灰阶值16的数据电压,其数据电压的差距参照图7可知约为1.5伏特。因此,补偿后的子像素灰阶值的数据电压的差距较小,可降低若驱动电路对数据线的充电能力不足时而影响显示画面的显示质量的问题。
图8示出本公开一实施例的电子装置驱动方法的步骤流程图。请参考图1及图8,在步骤S100中,像素补偿电路110接收像素信号S1。像素信号S1包括多个子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb),其中Gr是红色子像素灰阶值,Gg是绿色子像素灰阶值,Gb是蓝色子像素灰阶值。在步骤S110中,像素补偿电路110分别根据子像素灰阶值(Gr,Gg,Gb)来决定子像素灰阶值的补偿灰阶值。在步骤S120中,像素补偿电路110根据补偿灰阶值来补偿子像素灰阶值以输出调整像素信号S2。补偿灰阶值和子像素灰阶值的总和可小于或等于参考灰阶值。参考灰阶值例如是图5中的RG点,例如是对应灰阶值64。在步骤S130中,像素补偿电路110根据调整像素信号S2来驱动显示面板120显示图像画面200。
综上所述,在本公开的实施例中,像素补偿电路根据子像素灰阶值之间的差值以及第一阈值来决定子像素的补偿灰阶值,因此可通过成本较低的像素补偿电路,来决定不同子像素灰阶值的补偿灰阶值,以提高图像画面的显示质量。

Claims (10)

1.一种电子装置,包括:
像素补偿电路,接收像素信号,其中所述像素信号包括多个子像素灰阶值,且根据所述多个子像素灰阶值之间的差值以及第一阈值来补偿所述多个子像素灰阶值以输出调整像素信号;以及
显示面板,根据所述调整像素信号来显示图像画面。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电子装置,其中当所述多个子像素灰阶值小于或等于所述第一阈值,且所述多个子像素灰阶值之间的差值大于或等于第二阈值时,所述像素补偿电路补偿所述多个子像素灰阶值。
3.根据权利要求1所述的电子装置,其中所述像素补偿电路根据补偿灰阶值来补偿所述多个子像素灰阶值,且所述补偿灰阶值和所述多个子像素灰阶值的总和小于或等于参考灰阶值。
4.根据权利要求3所述的电子装置,其中所述补偿灰阶值是固定值。
5.根据权利要求3所述的电子装置,其中所述补偿灰阶值是根据所述多个子像素灰阶值来决定。
6.一种电子装置的驱动方法,包括:
接收像素信号,其中所述像素信号包括多个子像素灰阶值;
分别根据所述多个子像素灰阶值来决定所述多个子像素灰阶值的补偿灰阶值;
根据所述补偿灰阶值来补偿所述多个子像素灰阶值以输出调整像素信号;以及
根据所述调整像素信号来驱动显示面板显示图像画面。
7.根据权利要求6所述的电子装置的驱动方法,还包括:
当所述多个子像素灰阶值小于或等于第一阈值,且所述多个子像素灰阶值之间的差值大于或等于第二阈值时,决定补偿所述多个子像素灰阶值。
8.根据权利要求6所述的电子装置的驱动方法,其中所述补偿灰阶值和所述多个子像素灰阶值的总和小于或等于参考灰阶值。
9.根据权利要求6所述的电子装置的驱动方法,其中所述补偿灰阶值是固定值。
10.根据权利要求6所述的电子装置的驱动方法,其中所述补偿灰阶值是根据所述多个子像素灰阶值来决定。
