Collecting a front gray level image of a connecting pipe connector; obtaining a near roundness limiting factor of each pixel point according to the gradient saliency degree of each pixel point and the membership degree of the foreground pixel point cluster; constructing an objective function according to the near roundness of each pixel point and the near roundness limiting factor to perform fuzzy mean value clustering on the gray level image; acquiring objective function values after each clustering until the difference between the objective function values of the adjacent clustering results is smaller than a set threshold value, so as to obtain a plurality of optimal clusters; and taking the optimal cluster corresponding to the near-roundness average value maximum value as an abnormal region, and detecting the quality of the connecting pipe connector according to the abnormal region. According to the invention, the image clustering process is limited by the two limiting factors, so that the image segmentation effect can be effectively improved, and the accuracy of the quality detection result is ensured.
