Description

Tooth whitening oral care composition
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of oral care products, in particular to a tooth whitening oral care composition.
Background
With the continuous improvement of living standard of people, people pay more and more attention to the health of oral cavity, and the demand of whitening and stain removing oral care products is also increasing. The oral care products on the market at present mainly adopt the following methods to achieve the tooth whitening effect: (1) a large amount of grinding agents with high friction value are used, and the effects of removing stains and whitening skin are achieved through mechanical friction; (2) the chelate is used, and the effects of stain removal and whitening are achieved through chelation; (3) the peroxide is used to oxidize and bleach the colored substances in the teeth, thereby achieving the whitening effect. However, it is difficult to achieve a desired tooth whitening effect by the method using the abrasive and the chelate compound. Due to the strong oxidizing property of the peroxide, the whitening liquid can effectively bleach colored substances in teeth to achieve an ideal tooth whitening effect, can easily damage enamel on the surface of the teeth to make the teeth sensitive, and has great irritation to soft combinations of gingiva, oral mucosa and the like. Although the side effects of peroxides are reduced by technical means such as controlling the amount of peroxides used and changing the types of peroxides, the inherent irritability of peroxides cannot be overcome.
Photosensitizers (PS) are known to absorb light in the presence of oxygen to generate Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), which can generate cytotoxicity for sterilization and disinfection. Photosensitizer-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been extensively studied and applied in the fields of tumor therapy, inflammation elimination, sterilization, disinfection, and the like. PDT also has begun to attract attention from researchers in the application of tooth whitening. Zhang Lei (adv. Funct. Mater.2021, 2104799) found that the modified porphyrin can improve the ROS generation efficiency, has better tooth whitening and plaque removing effects, and has far less damage to teeth than hydrogen peroxide.
Traditional fluorescent molecules or PS often need to have good quantum generation efficiency under the condition of dilute concentration, and after aggregation, the excited state energy of the traditional fluorescent molecules or PS is often dissipated in a non-radiative form, so that the phenomenon of aggregation-induced fluorescence quenching (ACQ) is commonly presented, and the practical application of the traditional fluorescent molecules or PS is limited. In 2001, professor Tang Benzhong first proposed the concept of "aggregation-induced emission" (AIE). Molecules with AIE properties often exhibit more excellent fluorescence in the aggregated state. PS with AIE properties has attracted increasing attention from researchers. 5363 professor Tang Benzhong (mater. Chem. Front.,2019,3,1454-1461) found berberine derived from natural herbaceous plants, had excellent AIE characteristics, and showed good PDT antibacterial effect. The AIE molecule which is a natural product and has higher safety is expected to be applied to the field of tooth whitening, so that the irritation of a peroxide product to the oral cavity is avoided.
The known photosensitizer is combined with oxygen in an excited state, can generate ROS, and can play a role in sterilizing or whitening teeth. The research shows that the fluorescence intensity and ROS generation efficiency of the berberine are lower in a free state. The patent application discloses an antibacterial hydrogel with aggregation-induced emission characteristics and a preparation method thereof, and discloses that amino acid derivatives and berberine form the hydrogel, so that the antibacterial effect of the berberine can be improved. However, further studies have shown that berberine is very prone to staining teeth, and even berberine forms aggregates that risk staining teeth, which can severely limit the use of berberine in oral products.
