The specific meaning of the above terms herein can be understood by those skilled in the art as appropriate.
According to the concept of the present invention, the existing hinge assembly is improved, and the hinge assembly applicable to the trunk lid painting process is designed, thereby avoiding the use of a painting jig and enabling to obtain a high painting quality at a low cost.
Referring initially to FIG. 1, one embodiment of a hinge assembly for a decklid of a vehicle is illustrated. The hinge assembly includes a bracket 10 adapted to be fixed to the trunk lid and a hinge moving arm 20 adapted to be fixed to the trunk lid, the hinge moving arm 20 being pivotably attached to the bracket 10 by a pivot shaft 30, and further pivotably attached to the trunk lid by the bracket 10 to open or close the trunk lid. According to the present invention, an adjusting member 40 is provided, the adjusting member 40 being attached between the stand 10 and the hinge movable arm 20 for urging the hinge movable arm 20 to pivot with respect to the stand 10, and the adjusting member 40 holding the hinge movable arm 20 at a fixed position when pivoted to the fixed position.
It will be appreciated that when the hinge moveable arm is held in a fixed position, the decklid is in an open position, which may be a fully open position of the decklid, or the open position is between a closed position and a fully open position of the decklid.
Specifically, fig. 2A and 2B show a stand 10, and in order to accommodate the pivotal movement of the hinge movable arm, the stand 10 is provided with a receiving portion 11 forming an inner cavity 14, and the receiving portion 11 is provided with a through hole 12 for insertion of a pivot shaft 30 as shown in fig. 4. Further, the bracket 10 is provided with a vehicle body mounting portion 13 adapted to be mounted to a vehicle body rear bulkhead, wherein the vehicle body mounting portion 13 is provided with a fixing structure in the form of, for example, a fastening hole. In the embodiment shown in fig. 4, the pivot shaft 30 includes a shaft portion 31 and a first limiting portion 32 and a second limiting portion 33 disposed at two ends of the shaft portion 31 and adapted to the through hole 12 of the bracket 10, such that the shaft portion 31 is sleeved and limited in the through hole 12 of the bracket 10 for the hinge movable arm 20 to pivot around. As can be seen from fig. 4, the first stopper portion 32 is provided, for example, in a disc shape, and the second stopper portion 33 is provided, for example, in a square shape. It should be understood that the first position-limiting portion 32 and the second position-limiting portion 33 may be configured in the same configuration, or may be in other suitable configurations.
Fig. 3A and 3B show the hinge activating arm 20, in this embodiment the hinge activating arm 20 is configured as a substantially C-shaped gooseneck 21, provided with a pivot hole 23 at one end to fit the shaft portion 31 of the pivot shaft 30 and fixed to the deck lid at the other end. For example, the hinged arm 20 may be provided with a cover mounting portion 22, and the other end of the gooseneck 21 may be snapped into a bayonet 24 provided on the cover mounting portion 22 and then fixed to the trunk lid by the cover mounting portion 22, wherein the cover mounting portion 22 is provided with one or more fixing structures, for example, in the form of fastening holes.
Referring to fig. 5 in conjunction with fig. 3B and 3C, the adjusting member 40 is configured as a threaded rod including a first threaded portion 41 adapted to the first mounting hole 14 (fig. 2A) of the bracket 10 and a second threaded portion 42 adapted to the second mounting hole 25 (fig. 3B and 3C) of the hinge movable arm 20, wherein the second threaded portion 42 has a radial dimension smaller than that of the first threaded portion 41 such that the adjusting member 40 can cause the hinge movable arm 20 to pivot relative to the bracket 10. To this end, the second mounting hole 25 is provided to penetrate the gooseneck 21 of the hinge-movable arm 20, and is configured in an oblong shape extending in a length direction of the hinge-movable arm as shown in fig. 3C. It should be understood that the lengths of the first threaded portion and the second threaded portion can be set according to different requirements, and the size of the oval shape of the second mounting hole can also be set according to different requirements, so that the pivoting angle of the movable hinge arm can meet different spraying requirements of trunk lids of different vehicle types. For example, the adjustment member and the second mounting hole may be sized to pivot the gooseneck 21 in a range of about 8-15 degrees, such as 10 degrees.
In the illustrated embodiment, the adjustment piece 40 includes a transition portion 43 that extends from the first threaded portion 41 to the second threaded portion 42. Alternatively, the transition 43 is configured as a stepped surface or a sloped surface, shown for example in fig. 5, such that the hinge activating arm 20 is urged to pivot by the transition 43, as will be described in detail below.
In some alternative embodiments, the adjustment member 40 comprises a first nut 45 arranged on the support 10, said first nut 45 cooperating with the first threaded portion 41. Alternatively, the first nut may be a separate component and may be disposed on an outer surface or an inner surface of the receiving portion 11 of the bracket 10. In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 2A and 2B, the first nut 45 may be a weld nut integral with the bracket 10. In certain alternative embodiments, the adjustment member 40 further includes a second nut 44 that holds the articulating arm in a fixed position, the second nut 44 cooperating with the second threaded portion 42.
With the above-described specific structure of the adjusting member 40, as shown in fig. 6 and 7, the hinge-movable arm is fixed to the trunk lid 50 in the closed position via the lid mounting portion 22, and the gooseneck 21 of the hinge-movable arm is in the initial position with respect to the stand 10. If the trunk lid is to be opened for a painting operation, the adjustment member 40 is simply pushed in the direction of the hinged arm to cause the hinged arm to pivot so that the gooseneck in the initial position pivots to the desired fixed position, i.e., from the gooseneck 21a in the initial position to the gooseneck 21b in the fixed position in fig. 7. At this time, the trunk lid in the closed position is also pivoted to the open position, i.e., the trunk lid 50b in fig. 7 from the closed position to the open position, so that the painting operation of the trunk lid is easily performed.
Referring specifically to fig. 8A and 8B, when the first threaded portion 41 of the adjusting piece 40 is moved or screwed toward the hinge movable arm 20 along the first mounting hole of the bracket 10, since the second threaded portion 42 of the adjusting piece 40 is inserted into the second mounting hole 25 of the hinge movable arm 20 and transits to the second threaded portion 42 via the transition portion 43 such that the radial dimension of the second threaded portion 42 is smaller than the radial dimension of the first threaded portion 41, when the adjusting piece 40 moves to the point where the transition portion 43 contacts the surface of the hinge movable arm and continues to move, the transition portion 43 will exert an urging force on the surface of the hinge movable arm. At this time, since the second mounting hole 25 is configured to be oblong, this urging force will urge the hinge-movable arm (more specifically, the gooseneck 21) to pivot about the pivot shaft. As shown in fig. 8A, when the adjustment member is moved such that the first threaded portion 41a in the first position is moved to the first threaded portion 41b in the second position, the transition portion 43a in the first position correspondingly moves to contact the surface of the gooseneck 21a in the initial position and urge it to pivot to the gooseneck 21b in the fixed position. Finally, the transition portion 43b in the second position limits the gooseneck 21b from rotating toward the initial position, and the second threaded portion 42a in the first position moves to the second threaded portion 42b in the second position. Fig. 8B shows the final state, in which the gooseneck 21 is restrained in a fixed position by the transition portion 43 of the adjustment member and the second nut 44 engages the second threaded portion 42 extending through the gooseneck 21 to retain the gooseneck 21 in the fixed position. In this secured position, the trunk lid is in an open position suitable for painting, gluing, etc. After the operation is finished, the gooseneck 21 is only required to be released from the holding or locking of the second nut 44, and the adjusting piece is rotated to move away from the hinge movable arm, so that the hinge movable arm can be pivoted and restored to the initial position, and the trunk lid is restored to the closed position.
The hinge assembly disclosed by the invention is simple in design structure, easy to implement and low in change of the existing hinge assembly, not only effectively solves the use problem of the existing paint spraying clamp, but also is small in occupied space and low in cost, and can improve the spraying efficiency and quality of a trunk lid of a vehicle.
It should be understood herein that the embodiments shown in the figures illustrate only alternative configurations, shapes, sizes and arrangements of various alternative components of a hinge assembly according to the present invention, which are, however, merely illustrative and not limiting and that other shapes, sizes and arrangements may be adopted without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
While the technical content and the technical features of the invention have been disclosed, it is understood that various changes and modifications of the disclosed concept can be made by those skilled in the art within the spirit of the invention, and the invention is not limited thereto. The above description of embodiments is intended to be illustrative, and not restrictive, and the scope of the invention is defined by the appended claims.
