本公开提供了一种图像数据的传输方法及装置，属于显示技术领域，图像数据的传输组件可以对初始图像数据中的非注视区域的像素数据进行压缩，并将压缩得到的压缩图像数据发送给驱动芯片。由于压缩图像数据的数据量较小，因此可以在避免影响显示效果的前提下，有效减少传输组件所需传输的图像数据的数据量，进而降低图像数据传输过程中占用的带宽。
