In the embodiment of the present application, the following problems need to be solved:
problem 1: when the UE sends Restriction information such as Paging Restriction (PR), it is considered that the AMF transfers the PR to the SMF, and the SMF performs the PR. However, due to Policy Control and Charging (PCC) rules, that is, the priority of a PCC rule is higher than the Policy priority on the SMF, the PCC rule may override (override) the data processing decision of the SMF based on PR.
For the problem 1, a specific solution may be: 1) After the PR is sent to the PCF, the PCF sets a PCC rule, otherwise, the rule set by the SMF is covered by the PCC rule; 2) SMF sets exceptions and rule sets for PR with priority over PCC rule.
Problem 2: for a UE in an Inactive state (e.g., RRC _ Inactive state), it is the RAN that buffers the data. However, it is not clear whether the UE of RRC _ Inactive is RAN or SMF that processes data according to PR.
-assuming one: for the UE of RRC _ Inactive, the RAN processes data according to the PR; for the UE of RRC _ Idle, UPF processes data according to PR. For hypothesis one, the following problems exist: whether the UE is released to enter the RRC Inactive state or the RRC Idle state is determined by the RAN. The CN needs to send PR to the RAN first and await the RAN's decision to determine whether to send PR to the SMF.
-assume two: for the UE of RRC _ Inactive, the SMF processes data according to PR; for the UE of RRC idle, the data channel (e.g., N3 Tunnel) is released and it makes no sense that the data is buffered in the UPF, PR. For hypothesis two, the CN cannot know the RRC _ Inactive state of the UE yet, and needs to satisfy the condition to send PR.
For the problem 2, a specific solution may be: for RRC _ inactive UE, AMF sends PR to SMF, and SMF determines to limit data or discard data. For RRC idle UE, AMF performs paging restriction according to PR.
Problem 3: PR is Per UE (Per UE), SMF is Per Protocol Data Unit (PDU) Session, and Data restriction information that needs to be converted into Per PDU Session according to PR.
For the problem 3, a specific solution may be as follows:
1) When PR is used for limiting all paging, AMF sends PR to all SMF of service UE, and limits all data in PDU Session; SMF sets data operation rules (e.g. N4 rule) according to PR: a Service Data Flow filter (SDF filter) in a Packet Detection Rule (PDR) is set as defined; the operation (Action) in the Forwarding Action Rule (FAR) is set as: buffered or discarded (buffer or discard).
2) When PR is data except for limiting voice, AMF sends PR to SMF of PDU conversation related to voice; SMF of voice-related PDU sessions sets data operation rules (e.g., N4 rule) according to PR: TOS (DSCP for voice) is set in SDF filter in PDR; the operations in the FAR are set as: buffered or discarded. Or when PR is data except for limiting voice, AMF generates indication information for limiting all data of PDU conversation and sends the indication information to SMF of PDU conversation irrelevant to voice; SMF of voice independent PDU sessions sets data operation rules (e.g., N4 rule) according to PR: setting the SDF filter in the PDR to be specific; the operations in the FAR are set as: buffered or discarded.
3) When PR is data limiting the first PDU session, AMF sends PR to SMF of the first PDU session; the SMF of the first PDU session sets the data manipulation rule (e.g., N4 rule) according to PR: setting the SDF filter in the PDR to be specific; the operations in the FAR are set as: buffered or discarded.
4) When PR is limiting data except voice and the second PDU conversation, AMF sends PR to SMF of the voice related PDU conversation; SMF of voice-related PDU sessions sets data operation rules (e.g., N4 rule) according to PR: TOS (DSCP for voice) is set in SDF filter in PDR; the operations in the FAR are set as: buffered or discarded. Or when PR is used for limiting data except for voice and the second PDU session, AMF generates indication information for limiting all data of the PDU session and sends the indication information to SMF of a third PDU session which is irrelevant to voice; the third PDU session does not contain the second PDU session; the SMF of the third PDU session sets the data manipulation rule (e.g., N4 rule) according to PR: setting the SDF filter in the PDR to be specific; the operations in the FAR are set as: buffered or discarded.
