In the existing foldable screen products, the display module uses a metal substrate as a support, and the most common is SUS (steel sheet).
In order to provide the steel sheet with bending properties, it is common practice to make the thickness of the steel sheet as thin as 50 μm or less, and another common way is to pattern the areas involved in bending and etch them into a hollowed-out form. Both of these approaches require high cost, both for thinning and patterning. In addition, the support performance of the thinned steel sheet is reduced, and the patterned hollow area is easy to deform, so that the yield of the display device is greatly reduced.

The display panel 300 is disposed on the upper surface of the backplate 200 to implement a light emitting display function.
The polarizer 400 is arranged on the upper surface of the display panel, and the function of the polarizer 400 is mainly to reduce the reflection of incident light from the screen to the outside, reduce the interference of reflected light to the display effect of the screen, and enable a user to clearly see the display content of the screen.
The optical adhesive 500 is disposed on the upper surface of the polarizer 400, and has an adhesive effect and does not affect the light output of the light.
The cover plate 600 is disposed on the upper surface of the optical cement 500 to block external scratches, and in this embodiment, the cover plate 600 may be UTG or CW. Because the UTG and CW are expensive, in this embodiment, a PWO protective layer, that is, a PET protective layer with glue, may be further disposed on the upper layer of the cover plate 600.
The specific structure of these layers is not detailed in this embodiment, but falls within the scope of the present application, and the operations of opening a camera, opening a sensor, etc. on the segmented substrate structure 100 and the layers thereon can be performed according to practical situations without limitation.
The foldable display panel of this embodiment includes a terminal area and a display area, and the terminal area includes non-display structures such as a bending area, a bonding area, and a routing area, which are not shown in the drawings of this embodiment, but fall within the scope of the present embodiment.
The technical effect of the folding display device is that the substrate is changed into a sectional substrate structure, the substrate structure is not required to be thinned and etched, the substrate manufacturing process is simplified, and the production cost is reduced. Meanwhile, the conditions that the support performance is not enough due to the fact that the substrate is too thin, the film layer above the substrate is easy to deform and the like can be avoided, and the yield of the folding display device is improved.
Example 2
As shown in fig. 1, fig. 2 and fig. 4, the present embodiment provides a foldable display device, which includes a folding region 10 and a non-folding region 20 surrounding the folding region 10, and the foldable display device includes, in order from bottom to top, a segmented substrate structure 100, a back plate 200, a display panel 300, a polarizer 400, an optical adhesive 500, and a cover plate 600, and may further include other conventional structures of the display panel, which are not listed in this application.
