Description

Display device and control method of display device
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of display technologies, and in particular, to a display device and a control method of the display device for improving compatibility with an external device.
Background
The high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP, high-bandwidth digital content protection) technology is used to protect digital video and audio data from being illegally copied when the data is transmitted between a digital interface (such as DVI, HDMI, displayPort) of a display and an external device (such as a computer host, a display card, a DVD player, etc.). All HDCP devices have a unique set of keys that are first exchanged and operated upon to produce the same operation result for both parties when playing the protected digital content.
When the display is connected with an external device such as a specific display card or a video player (such as a DVD player), the display and the external device are firstly in a handshake mode, the display generally waits for the handshake with the external device within a specified time, and after the handshake, the display is judged to be an effective signal and a picture is displayed. Some specific external devices have longer handshake times than the general devices, so that the use of a display with a fixed handshake waiting time can determine whether the external devices have no signal or no signal source. When this occurs, it may also be referred to as a compatibility problem, resulting in a display that is not used properly.

Detailed Description
For a further understanding of the objects, construction, features, and functions of the invention, reference should be made to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments.
In the HDCP technology, an external device transmits a key value to a display device, the display device receives the key value, and transmits a return value corresponding to the key value to the external device, and then the external device determines whether the return value transmitted from the display device is equal to a predetermined value. When the return value is equal to the predetermined value, the external device allows data transmission to the display device, i.e., the display device completes HDCP authentication with the external device. When the return value is not equal to the predetermined value, the external device interrupts data transmission with the display device, that is, the display device is not authenticated by HDCP with the external device.
In hot-plug (hot-plug) technology, the two end devices of the connecting wire can be directly inserted or removed without burning the hardware device under the condition of not shutting down, the external device can be inserted in real time for use, and whether the external device is connected or not can be immediately known.
The input interface of HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface ) and DisplayPort (DP for short) generally has a hot plug mechanism, when the display device is connected with an external device such as a computer or a player, the signal source end can send a signal again, and then the signal source end can make a handshake of an HDCP key, so that the picture can be displayed correctly.
Referring to fig. 1, fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a display device according to an embodiment of the invention. The display device 1 is used for displaying digital data transmitted by the external device 2. The display device 1 of the present invention may be a desktop display, a computer display, a television, a video player with a display screen, etc. The external device 2 may be a DVD player, a set-top box, a host computer, graphics card hardware, etc. The display device 1 may be connected to the external device 2 through an HDMI or DisplayPort interface, thereby performing digital data communication between the display device 1 and the external device 2.
The display device 1 comprises a control unit 11, the control unit 11 being arranged to perform the following functions.
Outputting a hot plug detection signal to the external device 2, if no response of the external device 2 is detected after a first predetermined time, extending the first predetermined time and re-detecting until the response of the external device 2 is detected, and recording the updated first predetermined time.
And receiving the HDCP handshake signal sent by the external device 2, if the handshake with the external device 2 is not completed after the second preset time, prolonging the second preset time and rechecking until the handshake with the external device 2 is completed, and recording the updated second preset time.
The data communication is performed with the external device 2 using the updated first predetermined time and the updated second predetermined time.
In practical applications, the display device 1 further comprises a connection unit through which the display device 1 can receive and transmit signals. Taking a connection unit supporting hot plug as an example, the connection unit is configured to output the hot plug detection signal to the external device 2.
In an embodiment, the display device 1 further comprises an OSD (on-SCREEN DISPLAY, also called on-screen menu adjustment) unit, by means of which the user of the display device 1 can turn on the control unit 11 to perform the above-mentioned functions. Including but not limited to, the initial values of the first and second predetermined times, each extended time value, etc. may also be adjusted by the OSD unit; the OSD unit may also store information of a specific external device, so that a user of the display device 1 may perform a custom operation later. In practice, the control unit 11 may also be caused to perform the above-described functions by a designated key of the display device 1 or the like.
The display device 1 of the present invention can solve the compatibility problem with the external device 2. When the external device 2 is connected to the connection unit of the display device 1 through the connection cable, there are two elements that affect the completion of the handshake and the display of the screen by the display device 1 and the external device 2, respectively, the time for hot plug to be performed and the time for HDCP handshake. The invention obtains the hot plug time corresponding to various external devices in a self-adaptive mode and automatically adjusts the HDCP handshake time corresponding to various external devices so as to solve the compatibility problem of the display device 1 and various external devices.
Referring to fig. 2, fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a control method of a display device according to an embodiment of the invention. The control method of the display device of the present invention, which is used for displaying digital data transmitted from an external device, includes the following steps.
S1, the display device outputs a hot plug detection signal to an external device, if no response of the external device is detected after a first preset time, the first preset time is prolonged and the detection is repeated until the response of the external device is detected, and updated first preset time is recorded.
S2, the display device receives the HDCP handshake signal sent by the external device, if the handshake with the external device is not completed after a second preset time, the second preset time is prolonged and the handshake is repeated until the handshake with the external device is completed, and the updated second preset time is recorded.
And S3, the display device performs data communication with an external device by using the updated first preset time and the updated second preset time.
In an embodiment, the user of the display device may start executing the control method according to the present invention after clicking by using the OSD menu of the display device, that is, the user may start executing steps S1 to S3 after clicking.
In one embodiment, in the step of outputting the hot plug detection signal to the external device by the display device in step S1, the display device performs pulling down the hot plug signal voltage.
In an embodiment, in the step of extending the first predetermined time in step S1, the first predetermined time of each update is equal to the first predetermined time of the previous time plus a first preset value.
For example, in step S1, after the display device first performs pulling down the hot plug signal voltage for a first predetermined time N (an initial value is, for example, N ms), the display device waits for the external device to respond, and the first predetermined time N is extended to (n+100) ms each time the communication fails, and continues to accumulate until the response is successful, and the first predetermined time used when the response is successful is the first predetermined time of the update finally obtained. The N ms of the initial preset value of the first preset time N may be 0 ms or 100 ms, but the invention is not limited thereto.
The first preset value for each extension of the first predetermined time N may be any set value. In an embodiment, the first preset value may be adjusted through an OSD menu of the display device; for example, the OSD segment number is used for different seconds, such as segment number 1 for 100 milliseconds, segment number 2 for 200 milliseconds, and so on. Optionally, the first preset value is 100 milliseconds.
In an embodiment, in the step of extending the second predetermined time in step S2, the second predetermined time of each update is equal to the second predetermined time of the previous time plus a second preset value.
In one embodiment, in the step of extending the second predetermined time and re-handshaking in step S2, the display device outputs a hot plug detection signal to the external device at the updated first predetermined time, and notifies the external device to re-perform the HDCP handshaking.
For example, in step S2 after step S1, the external device (i.e. the signal source end) will first send a communication command to inform the display device to perform the HDCP key handshake procedure, at this time, the display device will record a second predetermined time M (an initial value is M ms) required for the external device to communicate with the display device, and wait for the handshake to be completed, and when each communication fails, the second predetermined time M is updated to (m+100 ms), and the display device will send a hot plug detection signal for informing the external device to re-perform the key handshake procedure with the updated first predetermined time, and then continue accumulating the second predetermined time M until the handshake procedure is completed, where the second predetermined time M used when the handshake is successful is the updated second predetermined time M finally obtained. The M ms of the initial preset value of the second preset time M may be 0ms or 100 ms, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
In step S3 after steps S1 and S2, the display device records the updated first predetermined time N and the updated second predetermined time M, updates the firmware setting of the display device, and the subsequent display device uses the finally obtained updated first predetermined time N and second predetermined time M to communicate with the corresponding external device, so as to solve the compatibility problem of the display device and various external devices.
In an embodiment, the control method of the display device further includes recording and storing information corresponding to the external device (including, for example, the updated first predetermined time N and the updated second predetermined time M) in an OSD menu of the display device, so as to facilitate a subsequent user-defined operation of the display device.
In practice, the display device may store information corresponding to various external devices (including, for example, the updated first predetermined time N and the updated second predetermined time M). After a certain external device is connected with the display device, the display device is connected with the current external device by selecting the corresponding first preset time N and second preset time M according to the current external device by using an OSD unit or other designated keys, so that the compatibility of the display device with various external devices is improved.
In the embodiments of the present invention, the display device may be connected to an external device through an HDMI or DisplayPort interface. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and any data interface capable of supporting hot plug and HDCP techniques is applicable to the present invention.
The invention obtains the hot plug time corresponding to various external devices in a self-adaptive mode and automatically adjusts the HDCP handshake time corresponding to various external devices so as to solve the compatibility problem of the display device and various external devices.
The display device and the control method of the display device can enable the display device to automatically adjust the waiting time of the handshake, so that the integrity of compatibility can be improved, and the user experience of the display device is improved.
The invention has been described with respect to the above-described embodiments, however, the above-described embodiments are merely examples of practicing the invention. In addition, the technical features described above in the different embodiments of the present invention may be combined with each other as long as they do not collide with each other. It should be noted that the disclosed embodiments do not limit the scope of the invention. On the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the invention.
