referring to fig. 1-8, a shroud assembly for an angle grinder in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention will be described, it being understood that the many details shown in the figures are exemplary only and not limiting. The shroud assembly according to an embodiment of the present application may be used for cutting and grinding, and includes a first shroud 1 as shown in fig. 1, the first shroud 1 including a mounting portion 11 for mounting to an angle grinder, a bottom wall 12 connected to the mounting portion 11, and a side wall 13 extending from an outer periphery of the bottom wall 12 to a front side. As used herein, "forward" refers to the side farther from the angle grinder after being mounted to the angle grinder body, and "aft" refers to the side closer to the angle grinder. The first shroud 1 shown in fig. 1 can be used in angle grinder grinding. The shroud assembly further includes: such as the second shield 2 shown in fig. 2. The second shroud 2 may be assembled with the first shroud 1 to provide protection when the angle grinder cuts. The second hood 2 comprises a rear wall 21, a front wall 22 and side walls 23 connected between the rear wall 21 and the front wall 22. Although not shown, it should be understood that the second shroud 2 is substantially "U" shaped in cross section in the radial direction. The rear wall 21 and the front wall 22 of the second shield 2 are substantially parallel with a spacing therebetween slightly larger than the thickness of the first shield 1, so that the second shield can be fitted over the first shield 1 by rotating around the first shield 1. Specifically, referring to fig. 3, the second shield 2 is just sleeved to the first shield 1, and then the second shield 2 may be rotated clockwise, for example, to be further combined with the first shield 1. During this rotation and upon completion of assembly, the rear wall 21 of the second shield remains engaged with the bottom wall 12 of the first shield, and the front ends 14 of the side walls 13 of the first shield engage with guide features 24 formed inside the front wall 22 of the second shield 2, as shown in fig. 4.
As shown more clearly in fig. 2 and 5, in some embodiments, the guide features 24 are inwardly extending projections along the periphery of the front wall 22 of the second shield 2, thereby trapping the front ends 14 of the side walls of the first shield between the side walls 23 of the second shield and the projections. The protrusion plays a role in guiding and limiting in the process that the second shield 2 rotates relative to the first shield 1, and plays a role in limiting after the second shield 2 and the first shield 1 are assembled. In the illustrated embodiment, the projections include three spaced projections distributed circumferentially, and in an alternative embodiment, the projections may also extend continuously along the outer peripheral inner side of the front wall of the second shroud, forming a "guide track" arrangement. In some embodiments, although not shown, a protrusion may be provided at the second end 252 of the second shield 2 to stop and guide when the second shield 2 and the first shield 1 are just assembled, facilitating accurate assembly of the two. In some embodiments, as shown, the second shield 2 may be made of a metal material, and the protrusions may be formed by locally inward stamped bending of the outer periphery of the front wall 22 of the second shield. Therefore, the second shield 22, and particularly the bump, according to the embodiment of the present application is easy to manufacture. In other embodiments, the guide features 24 may take other forms, such as hemispherical bumps or indentations on the inside of the front wall of the second shroud.
The first shield 1 has a first end 151 and a second end 152 in the circumferential direction, and correspondingly the second shield 2 has a first end 251 and a second end 252 in the circumferential direction. After the assembly is completed, the second shield 2 has stoppers at its first and second ends, respectively, which cooperate with the first and second ends of the first shield 1 to fix the second shield 2 in the circumferential direction with respect to the first shield 1. In a particular embodiment, with reference to fig. 4 and 5, the first end of the second shield 2 has a stop, for example in the form of a rib 26, which engages with the first end 151 of the first shield 1 when the second shield 2 is mounted in position relative to the first shield 1. In the illustrated embodiment, the stop is in the form of a rib 26 extending from the rear wall 21 of the second shield 2, the rib 26 being formed by bending a portion of the rear wall 21 of the second shield 2, the rib 26 engaging with the first end of the bottom wall of the first shield 1 to limit further rotation of the second shield 2 once the second shield is rotated into position. In alternative embodiments, other forms of stops may be employed, such as stops or bumps, or ribs may extend from the side wall of the second shield.
In some embodiments, referring to fig. 4 and 6, a stop in the form of a nut and bolt is provided at the second end 252 of the second shield. More specifically, the second shield has bolt holes 27 at a side wall of the second end thereof, and, when the second shield 2 is rotated with respect to the first shield 1 until the rib of the second shield 2 engages with the first end of the bottom wall of the first shield 1, the bolt 28 can be pressed against the second end 152 of the first shield by screwing the bolt 28 into the bolt hole 27 of the second shield toward the second shield 2. In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 6, the second end 152 of the first shield is flush with the second end 252 of the second shield or protrudes slightly beyond the second end 252 of the second shield, such that the bolt head can abut against the second end 152 of the first shield and prevent relative wobble of the first shield and the second shield in the circumferential direction. In the illustrated embodiment, the bolt holes at the second end of the second shroud are arranged at the side walls at the second end of the second shroud, alternatively the bolt holes may also be arranged at the rear wall of the second shroud. In other embodiments, both the first and second ends of the second shield may employ stops in the form of bolts and nuts.
As shown in fig. 6, the side wall 23 of the second shield is attached to the side wall 13 of the first shield. In an alternative embodiment, the sidewall 23 of the second shroud and the sidewall 13 of the first shroud may have a certain clearance. Referring to fig. 7 and 8, the rear wall 21 of the second shroud has a radially smaller width than its front wall 22, which saves material of the second shroud. As shown in fig. 7 and 8, the rear wall 21 of the second shield is flush with the first shield at the first and second ends, and the front wall 22 of the second shield is formed substantially in the shape of a partial ring, e.g., extending approximately 180 degrees or so. The first and second shrouds 1, 2 may be coaxial with their axes aligned with the axis of rotation of the angle grinder.
The shield assembly according to the embodiments of the present application is simple in structure, convenient to manufacture, and convenient to assemble. The switching between the two shield functions can be realized without complicated structural changes to the existing first shield. According to embodiments of the present application, the second shroud may still be easily installed with the first shroud already installed to the angle grinder without requiring the first shroud to be detached from the angle grinder. In addition, existing shrouds can be easily retrofitted to achieve the structure of the present application.
