Detailed Description
In order that the above-recited objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent, a more particular description of the invention will be rendered by reference to the appended drawings and appended detailed description.
Referring to fig. 1, a step flowchart of a backlight adjustment method provided by an embodiment of the present invention may specifically include the following steps:
step 101, a backlight adjustment event is monitored.
In the embodiment of the invention, the electronic equipment such as a computer, a mobile phone and the like is provided with a display device, such as a liquid crystal display. The backlight is the backlight of the display device, and the operating system generally controls the brightness of the backlight of the display device. The embodiment of the invention is suitable for hardware design of controlling the brightness of the backlight by the embedded controller.
In an embodiment of the present invention, backlight adjustment events include events corresponding to backlight brightness adjustment from a user (e.g., mouse, keyboard events, etc.), from hardware (e.g., ambient brightness sensor events, etc.), and from software (e.g., operating system, application itself, etc.). Typically the operating system will have specialized system services responsible for monitoring backlight adjustment events. The backlight adjustment event may be an event that increases the backlight brightness, or may be an event that decreases the backlight brightness.
For example, a user activates a hot key on the keyboard for adjusting backlight brightness, and an input event subsystem in the kernel of the operating system reports backlight adjustment events to a specialized system service.
Step 102, determining a corresponding target display device according to the backlight adjustment event, and generating a backlight adjustment request for the target display device.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the operating system uses one or more display devices simultaneously, wherein the default display device is designated as the target display device. And responding to the backlight adjustment event, detecting the target display device, and if the target display device is found, determining the target display device corresponding to the backlight adjustment event. And then generating a corresponding backlight adjustment request according to the backlight adjustment event.
Step 103, determining a backlight brightness register modification operation provided by a unified firmware interface according to the backlight adjustment request in the process of processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device drive of the target display device.
In the embodiment of the present invention, in the operating system, the display device drive of the target display device is a special program that can cause the computer and the target display device to communicate with each other. The interface corresponds to the interface of the target display device, and the operating system can control the operation of the target display device only through the interface. In the operating system, the backlight adjustment request will ultimately be passed to the display device driver for processing.
In the embodiment of the invention, in the process of driving and processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device, the backlight adjustment method respectively designed by each manufacturer is not adopted, and the backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the unified firmware interface is determined according to the backlight adjustment request.
The unified firmware interface is an interface for providing connection between an operating system and hardware. Such as BIOS (Basic Input Output System ), UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, unified extensible firmware interface), etc., or any other suitable unified firmware interface, as embodiments of the invention are not limited in this respect.
In the embodiment of the invention, in the unified firmware interface, the backlight brightness register modifying operation is defined, the specific operation is defined by the unified firmware interface, and the operating system is only responsible for calling. The unified firmware interface provides backlight brightness register modification operation for the operating system in advance. In the process of processing backlight adjustment requests by the display device driver, backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the unified firmware interface is determined according to the backlight adjustment requests.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the backlight brightness register modifying operation may be implemented as an executable program for both increasing and decreasing the backlight brightness. In particular, the amount of adjustment of the backlight brightness is transferred to the executable program.
Step 104, executing the backlight brightness register modification operation to transmit the adjusted backlight brightness to an embedded controller through a backlight brightness register, so that the embedded controller can adjust the target display device to the adjusted backlight brightness.
In the embodiment of the invention, the operating system executes the modification operation of the backlight brightness register, modifies the backlight brightness register, and writes the adjusted backlight brightness into the backlight brightness register. For example, the backlight luminance register modification operation includes a series of operations: the method comprises the steps of firstly reading a current value of a backlight brightness register, then increasing or decreasing the current value according to a backlight adjustment request, obtaining adjusted backlight brightness after increasing or decreasing, then judging whether the adjusted backlight brightness is between the maximum backlight brightness and the minimum backlight brightness, if so, writing the adjusted backlight brightness into the backlight brightness register. The amount of increase or decrease may be set according to actual needs, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
In an embodiment of the present invention, an Embedded Controller (EC) adjusts the backlight brightness of a target display device by reading a value in a backlight brightness register. The value in the backlight brightness register is modified to the adjusted backlight brightness, thereby enabling the adjusted backlight brightness to be transferred to the embedded controller. The embedded controller adjusts the target display device to the adjusted backlight brightness according to the hardware control mode of the target display device, and the specific adjustment mode of the embedded controller is not limited in this embodiment of the invention.
According to the embodiment of the invention, by monitoring the backlight adjusting event, determining the corresponding target display device according to the backlight adjusting event, generating the backlight adjusting request aiming at the target display device, determining the backlight brightness register modifying operation provided by the unified firmware interface according to the backlight adjusting request in the process of driving and processing the backlight adjusting request by the display device of the target display device, executing the backlight brightness register modifying operation, transmitting the adjusted backlight brightness to the embedded controller through the backlight brightness register, so that the embedded controller adjusts the target display device to the adjusted backlight brightness, and the backlight brightness adjusting methods respectively realized in the display device driving by different manufacturers are avoided by configuring the backlight brightness register modifying operation in the unified firmware interface, thereby using the same type of backlight brightness register modifying operation to adapt to different types of display devices, improving the compatibility of the backlight brightness adjusting method and bringing convenience to the maintenance work of the backlight brightness adjusting method.
Referring to fig. 2, a step flowchart of a backlight adjusting method provided by an embodiment of the present invention may specifically include the following steps:
in step 201, a backlight adjustment event is monitored.
In the embodiments of the present invention, the specific implementation manner of this step may be referred to the description in the foregoing embodiments, which is not repeated herein.
Step 202, determining a corresponding target display device according to the backlight adjustment event, and generating a backlight adjustment request for the target display device.
In the embodiments of the present invention, the specific implementation manner of this step may be referred to the description in the foregoing embodiments, which is not repeated herein.
In an optional embodiment of the invention, before determining, in the process of processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device driver of the target display device, a backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the unified firmware interface according to the backlight adjustment request, the method may further include: and sending the backlight adjustment request to the display device driver corresponding to the target display device through the equipment manager under the operating system.
The device manager is software that manages the device nodes under the device directory. For example, udev is a Linux kernel family of device managers. After the special system service of the operating system monitors the backlight adjustment event, the backlight adjustment event is reported to the device manager. The device manager then finds the target display device and sends the backlight adjustment request to the display device driver corresponding to the target display device.
In step 203, during the process of processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device driver of the target display device, among a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface, a backlight brightness register modification operation corresponding to the backlight adjustment request is searched.
In embodiments of the present invention, the operating system may invoke a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface. Among the operations, a backlight brightness register modification operation corresponding to the backlight adjustment request is searched. For example, the identifier carried by the backlight adjustment request is found in the identifiers of the list of the plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface.
In an optional embodiment of the present invention, in one implementation manner of searching for a backlight brightness register modification operation corresponding to the backlight adjustment request among a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface, the method may include: searching target identification information and target memory address information corresponding to the backlight adjustment request in the identification information and the memory address information of a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface; and acquiring an executable program of the backlight brightness register modification operation according to the target memory address information.
The operating system records the identification information and the memory address information of a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface. Wherein the identification information refers to information for identifying a plurality of operations. The memory address information refers to information for determining an address of an executable program storing a plurality of operations in a memory. And searching corresponding target identification information and target memory address information according to the backlight adjustment request. For example, the backlight adjustment request carries the target identification information, and then the target identification information and the target memory address information are searched in the operating system.
Based on the target memory address information, an address may be determined at which an executable program of the backlight brightness register modification operation is stored in the memory. And acquiring an executable program of the backlight brightness register modification operation from a position corresponding to the target memory address information in the memory.
In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, before the monitoring of the backlight adjustment event, the method may further include: storing an executable program of the backlight brightness register modification operation into a globally accessible memory in the initialization process of the unified firmware interface, and generating target identification information and target memory address information of the backlight brightness register modification operation; in the starting process of the operating system, acquiring identification information and memory address information of a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface, wherein the operations comprise related operations aiming at the backlight brightness register, and the related operations aiming at the backlight brightness register comprise modification operations of the backlight brightness register; and registering the target display device in the starting process of the operating system, and registering the related operation aiming at the backlight brightness register to the operating system so as to trigger the backlight brightness register to modify operation after the operating system monitors the backlight adjusting event.
The operations provided by the unified firmware interface include related operations for the backlight brightness register, including backlight brightness register modification operations, and may also include operations of reading the value of the backlight brightness register, and obtaining the maximum and minimum values of the backlight brightness register, etc.
After the power-on is started, an initialization process of the unified firmware interface is performed first, and in the process, an executable program for modifying the backlight brightness register is stored in a globally accessible memory, so that an operating system can acquire the executable program from the memory location. And generating target identification information and target memory address information of the backlight brightness register modification operation.
And then in the starting process of the operating system, acquiring the identification information and the memory address information of a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface, thereby providing the backlight brightness register modifying operation for the operating system.
During the start-up of the operating system, the operating system kernel may require that each device present report to the bus, or register, and that a driver present also report to the bus, or register. At the time of operating system initialization, the target display device is scanned and connected. Each time the operating system registers a target display device, it will find a display device driver that matches it. The relevant operation for the backlight brightness register is then registered with the operating system, in particular with the display device driver, so that the operating system knows that the display device driver will trigger the backlight brightness register modification operation upon monitoring the backlight adjustment event.
Step 204, in the process of driving and processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device of the target display device, determining an adjustment amount corresponding to the modification operation of the backlight brightness register according to the backlight adjustment request.
In the embodiment of the invention, the adjustment amount corresponding to the modification operation of the backlight brightness register is determined according to the backlight adjustment request. The adjustment amount may be positive or negative, and the adjustment amount may be determined by a setting corresponding to a hot key on the keyboard, for example, hot key F1 corresponds to +10% and hot key F2 corresponds to-10%. For example, the backlight adjustment request is parsed to obtain an adjustment amount therein. The adjustment amount of the backlight adjustment request is generated based on the backlight adjustment event.
Step 205, determining the adjusted backlight brightness according to the adjustment amount.
In the embodiment of the invention, the current value in the backlight brightness register is acquired first, and then the adjusted backlight brightness can be calculated by combining the adjustment quantity. And then judging whether the adjusted backlight brightness is between the maximum backlight brightness and the minimum backlight brightness, if so, determining the adjusted backlight brightness.
And 206, writing the adjusted backlight brightness into the backlight brightness register to transmit the adjusted backlight brightness to an embedded controller through the backlight brightness register so that the embedded controller can adjust the target display device to the adjusted backlight brightness.
In the embodiment of the invention, the backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the unified firmware interface is called, and the adjusted backlight brightness is written into the backlight brightness register.
For example, a schematic diagram of a backlight brightness adjustment flow is shown in fig. 3. The user activates a hotkey that adjusts the backlight brightness. In the kernel mode of the OS (operating system), the input event subsystem reports backlight adjustment events. In the user state of the OS (operating system), a special system service monitors backlight adjustment events and determines the corresponding target display device. The system service generates a backlight adjustment request based on the backlight adjustment event, and passes the backlight adjustment request to udev (device manager) in the user state of the OS. The Udev delivers the backlight adjustment request to the display device driver of the target display device in the kernel mode of the OS. The display device driver determines a backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the BIOS according to the backlight adjustment request. The backlight brightness register modification operation provided by the BIOS is registered with the display device driver of the operating system in advance. And executing the modification operation of the backlight brightness register so that the EC controller can adjust the backlight brightness according to the median operation hardware of the backlight brightness register.
According to the embodiment of the invention, by monitoring the backlight adjustment event, determining the corresponding target display device according to the backlight adjustment event, generating the backlight adjustment request for the target display device, searching the backlight brightness register modification operation corresponding to the backlight adjustment request in a plurality of operations provided by the unified firmware interface in the process of driving and processing the backlight adjustment request by the display device of the target display device, determining the adjustment quantity corresponding to the backlight brightness register modification operation according to the backlight adjustment request, determining the adjusted backlight brightness according to the adjustment quantity, writing the adjusted backlight brightness into the backlight brightness register to transmit the adjusted backlight brightness to the embedded controller through the backlight brightness register, so that the embedded controller adjusts the target display device to the adjusted backlight brightness, and the method for modifying the backlight brightness of a backlight device by using the same type of backlight brightness register is avoided by configuring the brightness register modification operation in the unified firmware interface in the process of driving and processing the backlight adjustment request by different manufacturers, thereby improving the operation of the backlight brightness of the backlight device to have the same type and the compatibility.
