The following examples further illustrate aspects of the present invention in detail, but are not intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
The invention will be described in detail with reference to the following drawings, which are provided for illustration purposes and the like:
the present invention provides a switching System (hereinafter, BIOS switching System) of a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), which can be used to switch a BIOS operated by a host chip. In particular, the BIOS switching system described in the following embodiments may be disposed on a display card or a motherboard. Referring to fig. 1 and 2, fig. 1 is a functional block diagram of a BIOS switching system according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 2 is a flowchart of a BIOS switching method according to the first embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the BIOS switching system 1 comprises a switching device 11 and a processing element 13, wherein the processing element 13 is connected to the switching device 11 and is also used for connecting to the host chip 5. Further, the processing component 13 comprises a storage device 131 and an arithmetic device 133, wherein the arithmetic device 133 is connected to the storage device 131 and the switching device 11 and is used for connecting to the host chip 5, and the connection is especially wired. The BIOS switching system 1 may perform a BIOS switching method, as shown in fig. 2, the BIOS switching method comprising: in step S1, a switching command is generated by the switching device 11; in step S2, the computing device 133 causes the host chip 5 to obtain a specified parameter combination of the BIOS setting parameter combinations in the storage device 131 according to the switching instruction; and in step S3, the host chip 5 operates the BIOS according to the specified parameter combination.
The following further describes the implementation elements and operations of the devices included in the BIOS switching system 1. As described above, the switching device 11 of the BIOS switching system 1 can be used to generate the switching command. For example, the switching device 11 may include one or more hardware devices such as an electronic switch device, a mechanical switch device, and the like. In the embodiment where the switching device 11 includes a switch element, when the switch element of the switching device 11 is triggered by human action (such as pressing, toggling, etc., but the present invention is not limited thereto), a signal indicating to switch the BIOS setting parameter combination, i.e., a switching command, is generated, and the switching command is provided to the computing device 133. In this embodiment, the switching instruction indicates that another BIOS setting parameter combination other than the BIOS setting parameter combination currently possessed by the host chip 5 is a designated parameter combination. In an embodiment where the switching device 11 includes a plurality of switching elements, the switching elements may respectively correspond to a plurality of BIOS setting parameter combinations, when one of the switching elements is triggered, the switching device 11 generates a switching instruction indicating that the BIOS setting parameter combination corresponding to the triggered switching element is a specific parameter combination, and provides the switching instruction to the computing device 133. As another example, the switching device 11 may be a wired transmission connection port, such as I2C, System Management Bus (SMBUS), Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART), RS232, and Universal Serial Bus (USB), or a wireless transmission connection port, such as bluetooth transceiver, WIFI transceiver, etc., and may receive a signal instructing to perform a switching operation from a software interface (e.g., a mobile phone application) of an external device, and provide the signal to the computing device 133 as or convert the signal into a switching instruction. Further, the signal indicating to perform the switching job may indicate to specify a parameter combination.
The processing component 13 may be a Microcontroller (MCU), the storage device 131 disposed inside the Microcontroller may be a Read-only memory (ROM), a Flash memory (Flash memory) or other non-volatile memory, and the computing device 133 may be a computing circuit of the Microcontroller. As described above, the storage device 131 stores a plurality of BIOS setting parameter combinations. Further, the storage device 131 may be divided into a plurality of areas to store different BIOS setting parameter combinations, respectively. The computing device 133 may enable the host chip 5 to obtain one of the BIOS setting parameter combinations according to the switching instruction. As mentioned above, the switching command generated by the switching device 11 may indicate a specific parameter combination belonging to one of the BIOS configuration parameter combinations in the storage device 131, and the computing device 133 may enable the host chip 5 to obtain the specific parameter combination according to the switching command, so that the host chip 5 operates the BIOS according to the specific parameter combination. Furthermore, the computing device 133 can provide the specified parameter combination or the storage address thereof to the host chip 5 (e.g. loading the memory of the host chip 5 or modifying the path for the host chip 5 to read the BIOS setting parameter combination), and the host chip 5 can run the BIOS based on the specified parameter combination when it is restarted. In this way, the BIOS originally run by the host chip 5 can be switched to the BIOS based on the specified parameter combination.
The computing device 133 may receive an adjustment command associated with a specified parameter combination from an external device (e.g., a mobile phone, a computer, etc.) via the switching device 11 implemented by a wired or wireless transmission port. Alternatively, the BIOS switching system 1 may further comprise a connection port through which the computing device 133 can be connected to an external device to receive the adjustment command associated with the specified parameter combination. For example, the connection port may be a wired transmission connection port such as I2C, SMBUS, SPI, UART, RS232, USB, etc., or a wireless transmission connection port such as a bluetooth transceiver, WIFI transceiver, etc. The computing device 133 adjusts the specified parameter combination when the specified parameter combination is loaded into the memory of the host chip 5 according to the adjustment instruction. Further, the computing device 133 adjusts the parameters indicated by the adjustment instruction for the specific parameter combination decompressed in the memory of the host chip 5. In this way, when the host chip 5 is restarted, the BIOS based on the adjusted specified parameter combination can be run, that is, the BIOS that was originally run is switched to the BIOS based on the adjusted specified parameter combination.
In one embodiment, the computing device 133 can perform the switching operation, and also perform the updating operation on the BIOS setting parameter combination in the storage device 131. Further, the computing device 133 may receive the update command associated with the specified parameter combination from an external device (e.g., a mobile phone, a computer, etc.) through the switching device 11 implemented by the wired or wireless transmission connection port, or the computing device 133 may receive the update command associated with the specified parameter combination from the external device through the connection port of the BIOS switching system 1. For example, the update command may include an address (target address) of an original BIOS configuration parameter set to be updated in the storage device 131 and a compressed file of a new version of the BIOS configuration parameter set, and the computing device 133 may replace the original BIOS configuration parameter set of the target address with the new version of the BIOS configuration parameter set according to the update command to complete the update operation.
Referring to fig. 3, fig. 3 is a functional block diagram of a BIOS switching system according to a second embodiment of the present invention, wherein a storage device storing a BIOS setting parameter set is disposed outside a processing element. As shown in FIG. 3, the BIOS switching system 2 comprises a switching device 21, a storage device 23 and a processing element 25, wherein the processing element 25 comprises an operation device 251. The computing device 251 is connected to the switching device 21 and the storage device 23, and is used for connecting to the host chip 5. The connection between the computing device 251 and other devices is particularly wired. Similar to the BIOS switching system 1 of fig. 1, the BIOS switching system 2 can also perform the switching method shown in fig. 2: generating a switching command by means of the switching device 21; by means of the computing device 251, the host chip 5 obtains a designated parameter combination from the plurality of BIOS setting parameter combinations in the storage device 23 according to the switching instruction; and the host chip 5 operates the BIOS according to the specified parameter combination.
The following further describes the implementation elements and operations of the devices included in the BIOS switching system 2. The switching device 21 is used for generating a switching instruction. For example, the switching device 21 may include one or more hardware elements such as an electronic switch element, a mechanical switch element, and the like. In the embodiment where the switching device 21 includes a switch element, when the switch element of the switching device 21 is triggered by a human action (such as pressing, toggling, etc., but the present invention is not limited thereto), a signal indicating to switch the BIOS setting parameter combination, i.e., a switching command, is generated, and the switching command is provided to the computing device 251. In this embodiment, the switching instruction indicates that another BIOS setting parameter combination other than the BIOS setting parameter combination currently possessed by the host chip 5 is a designated parameter combination. In the embodiment where the switching device 21 includes a plurality of switching elements, the switching elements may respectively correspond to a plurality of BIOS setting parameter combinations, when one of the switching elements is triggered, the switching device 21 generates a switching instruction indicating that the BIOS setting parameter combination corresponding to the triggered switching element is a specific parameter combination, and provides the switching instruction to the computing device 251. As another example, the switching device 21 may be a wired transmission connection port such as I2C, SMBUS, SPI, UART, RS232, USB, etc., or a wireless transmission connection port such as bluetooth transceiver, WIFI transceiver, etc., and may receive a signal indicating a switching operation from a software interface (e.g., a mobile phone application) of an external device, and may provide the signal as a switching command or convert the signal into the switching command, and then provide the switching command to the computing device 251. Further, the signal indicating to perform the switching job may indicate to specify a parameter combination.
As described above, the storage device 23 stores therein a plurality of BIOS setting parameter combinations. Further, the storage device 23 may be divided into a plurality of areas to store different BIOS setting parameter combinations, respectively. In particular, the storage device 23 may be a Read-only memory (ROM), a Flash memory (Flash memory) or other non-volatile memory.
The computing device 251 is included in the processing element 25, and particularly, the processing element 25 may be a Microcontroller (MCU), and the computing device 251 may be a computing circuit of the Microcontroller. The computing device 251 can make the host chip 5 obtain one of the BIOS setting parameter combinations according to the switching instruction. Further, the switching instruction generated by the switching device 21 may indicate a specific parameter combination, and the specific parameter combination belongs to one of the BIOS setting parameter combinations in the storage device 23, and the computing device 251 may enable the host chip 5 to obtain the specific parameter combination according to the switching instruction, so that the host chip 5 operates the BIOS according to the specific parameter combination. Furthermore, the computing device 251 can read the specified parameter combination from the storage device 23 and provide the specified parameter combination to the host chip 5 (e.g., loaded into the memory of the host chip 5), and the host chip 5 can run the BIOS based on the specified parameter combination when it is restarted. In this way, the BIOS originally run by the host chip 5 can be switched to the BIOS based on the specified parameter combination.
In this embodiment, the computing device 251 is connected to the host chip 5 to provide the specified parameter combination to the host chip 5. In another embodiment, the BIOS switching system 2 is connected to the host chip 5 by the storage device 23 for obtaining the specified parameter combination, and the computing device 251 is selectively connected to the host chip 5. The connection between the storage device 23 and the host chip 5 and the connection between the arithmetic device 251 and the host chip 5 are wired in particular. The computing device 251 assigns the read address of the storage device 23 to correspond to the assigned parameter combination for the host chip 5 to read, so that the host chip 5 can obtain the assigned parameter combination. For example, assuming that the storage device stores a first BIOS setting parameter combination and a second BIOS setting parameter combination, wherein the first BIOS setting parameter combination is stored in the partition area with the address FFFF, and the second BIOS setting parameter combination is stored in the partition area with the address BFFF, the computing device 251 sets the read address of the storage device 23 to FFFF when the switching instruction indicates the first BIOS setting parameter combination, and sets the read address of the storage device 23 to BFFF when the switching instruction indicates the second BIOS setting parameter combination. The host chip 5 reads the specified parameter combination from the storage device 23 and runs the BIOS based on the specified parameter combination when it is restarted.
The computing device 251 may receive an adjustment command associated with a predetermined parameter combination from an external device (e.g., a mobile phone, a computer, etc.) via the switching device 21 implemented by a wired or wireless transmission port. Alternatively, the BIOS switching system 2 may further comprise a connection port through which the computing device 251 can be connected to an external device to receive an adjustment command associated with the specified parameter combination. For example, the connection port may be a wired transmission connection port such as I2C, SMBUS, SPI, UART, RS232, USB, etc., or a wireless transmission connection port such as a bluetooth transceiver, WIFI transceiver, etc. The computing device 251 adjusts the specified parameter combination when the specified parameter combination is loaded into the memory of the host chip 5 according to the adjustment instruction. Further, the computing device 251 adjusts the parameters indicated by the adjustment instruction for the specific parameter combination decompressed in the memory of the host chip 5. In this way, when the host chip 5 is restarted, the BIOS based on the adjusted specified parameter combination can be run, that is, the BIOS that was originally run is switched to the BIOS based on the adjusted specified parameter combination.
In one embodiment, the computing device 251 can perform the switching operation, and also perform the updating operation on the BIOS setting parameter combination in the storage device 23. Further, the computing device 251 may receive the update command associated with the specified parameter combination from an external device (e.g., a mobile phone, a computer, etc.) through the switching device 21 implemented by the wired or wireless transmission connection port, or the computing device 251 may receive the update command associated with the specified parameter combination from the external device through the connection port of the BIOS switching system 2. Specifically, the update command may include an address (target address) of an original BIOS configuration parameter set to be updated in the storage device 23 and a compressed file of a new version of the BIOS configuration parameter set, and the computing device 251 may replace the original BIOS configuration parameter set of the target address with the new version of the BIOS configuration parameter set according to the update command to complete the update operation.
By means of the structure, the BIOS switching system and the BIOS switching method can load self-made BIOS settings in a hardware or software mode without resetting each time of use, and can save cost and occupied space of a printed circuit board by dividing an internal storage device or an external storage device of a processing assembly of the system into a plurality of areas to respectively store different BIOS setting parameter combinations.
The present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential attributes thereof, and it should be understood that various changes and modifications can be effected therein by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
