Description

Reclosable package and method for preparing a reclosable package
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a reclosable package and a method for preparing a reclosable package according to the preambles of claims 1 and 15.
Background
Many products are sold in packages having tamper-evident closures. One example of such a tamper-evident closure is an outer wrapping film, typically made of plastic and applied to the package by heat shrink technology in combination with a tear tape. However, such films do not represent reclosable packages. Furthermore, opening such membranes for the first time is often a difficult process. References US 20110235947 a1 and DE 20220666U1 relate to the object of providing a reclosable package for different articles.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a reclosable package and a method for preparing a reclosable package which allows for easy opening of the package.
The aforementioned problem is solved by a reclosable package comprising a cavity for storing a product arranged within a container, the container surrounding the cavity, the container extending along a longitudinal direction and having a back side and a front side joined to each other at a longitudinal side parallel to the longitudinal direction and further having an upper side and a bottom side both extending in a direction intersecting said longitudinal direction, wherein a zipper is arranged at one of the upper side or the bottom side of the container, the other of the upper side or the bottom side being permanently sealed, the zipper reversibly connecting two closure portions of the container, wherein respective end portions of the two closure portions of the container are sealed to each other as a sealed closure, the sealed closure being flattened and attached to the front side or the back side of the container prior to first opening of the reclosable package, wherein, prior to said first opening of the reclosable package, a tear strip is disposed between the zipper and the sealed closure, the tear strip connecting the unsealed first and second portions of each of the two closed portions of the container.
The combination of the zipper and the tear strip provides comfort to the user in the first opening and in other openings. Furthermore, a positive closure in the form of a zipper is combined with a tamper-evident closure in the form of a tear strip. The attachment of the sealed closure together with the end portions of the two closure portions to the container holding package is convenient and compact in shape.
Preferably, the two closure portions are to be understood as extending only from the zipper to their end portions at the sealed closure. Preferably, the reclosable package has no: one of the two closure portions has a portion that is oppositely oriented from another portion of the one of the two closure portions. Preferably, the two closing portions comprise only one single fold, according to which one of the closing portions is arranged in contact with the upper or bottom side and in contact with the front or rear side. Preferably, the unsealed first and second portions of each of the two closure portions of the container are located between the end portions of the two closure portions and the zipper.
If the user wants to remove the product from the container, the tear strip must be removed and the zipper must be opened so that the two closure portions of the container can be moved away from each other and form the opening of the container.
Preferably, the tear strip does not contact both the zipper and the sealed closure. This applies both to the state before the first opening and to the state after the first opening and provides sufficient free space to remove the tear strip upon the first opening without being affected by and without damaging the presence of the zipper and/or sealed closure. Preferably, the condition of the sealed closure is not affected by removal of the tear strip and/or opening of the zipper. Preferably, the sealed closure remains attached to the front or back side after the first opening.
According to a preferred embodiment, the longitudinal extension of the zipper is arranged to extend parallel to the width direction of the container. Preferably, the longitudinal extension of the zipper represents the opening direction of the zipper (the direction in which the zipper can be opened). Preferably, the width direction of the container extends perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the container and/or perpendicular to the height direction of the container. Preferably, the total width of the container, measured along its width direction, is smaller than the total length of the container, measured along its longitudinal direction. Preferably, the total height of the container, measured in its height direction, is smaller than the total width of the container, measured in its width direction. Thus, the zipper is preferably arranged parallel to an extension having a medium length. Thus, the size of the zipper may be selected to be large enough to allow removal of the product from the container and small enough to allow for an economical design of the package.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the longitudinal extension of the zipper is arranged to extend parallel to the longitudinal extension of the sealed closure and/or parallel to the longitudinal extension of the tear strip.
Thus, the zipper, sealed closure and tear strip are preferably arranged to extend parallel to each other. Thus, the distance between the zipper and the tear strip and the distance between the tear strip and the sealed closure have the same value in longitudinal extension and can therefore be kept small. Furthermore, it should be noted that the design of the package is consistent.
Further, it is preferred that the length of the zipper exceeds the length of the tear strip and/or the length of the tear strip exceeds the length of the sealed closure. Preferably, the length of the zipper is equal to or less than the overall width of the container. Preferably, the length of the tear strip and/or the length of the sealed closure is less than the total width of the container.
Maintaining the length of the tear strip at a moderate level ensures that the length is large enough to provide a secure closure and small enough to tear off quickly.
It is possible that the flavour source is arranged within the cavity. Such a flavour source is suitable for flavouring an item stored in a reclosable package. For example, cigarettes stored in such packages may be flavored by a menthol flavor source.
According to a preferred embodiment, the zipper is a safety zipper comprising locking means to ensure the closed state of the zipper. If the articles stored within the package may pose a risk to someone (e.g., a child), the security zipper prevents the person from removing the articles from the package without overcoming some security mechanism.
Preferably, the zipper comprises a first side portion and a second side portion reversibly connected to each other, wherein the first side portion and the second side portion of the zipper are each secured to one of the two closure portions of the container. This represents a reliable and reproducible easy opening mechanism.
To support easy opening, it is possible that the zipper comprises a slider reversibly connecting the first and second side portions of the zipper. The slide fastener is opened or closed by moving the slider in the opening direction of the slide fastener.
Preferably, the first side portion of the zipper comprises a first profile and the second side portion of the zipper comprises a second profile, wherein the first profile and the second profile are adapted to interlock with each other. Preferably, the first profile comprises a first shape and the second profile comprises a second shape. Preferably, the first shape is different from the second shape. Preferably, the first shape is complementary to the second shape. Preferably, a cross-section of the first shape extending perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the zipper comprises a convex portion having a first diameter. Preferably, a cross-section of the second shape extending perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the zipper comprises a concave portion having a second diameter. Preferably, the first diameter is equal to the second diameter.
According to a preferred embodiment, the first profile and the second profile each comprise a plurality of slits extending perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the zipper and/or being evenly distributed over the length of the first profile and the second profile.
The slits represent material recesses that can modify the sound generated by the opening process or the closing process of the zipper when the two profiles are separated from or connected to each other. Thus, it is possible to produce a slide fastener having an individual opening sound for a specific product. For example, if the item stored in the package is an item with a technical image (such as a screw or nut), the opening sound may be similar to that of a motor. If the article stored in the package is an article for beauty care, such as a cotton swab or an artificial nail, the opening sound may be a smooth ring tone. In addition, the opening sound may serve as an audible warning signal to the parent if a child attempts to open a package that stores dangerous or child-resistant items.
It is possible that the opening sound and the closing sound are different. This may be achieved by providing slits along the opening direction of the zipper, wherein the shape of at least one of the slits differs from the shape of at least one of the following slits. Furthermore, it is possible that the distance between two adjacent slits varies over the length of the first profile or the second profile.
Preferably, the container comprises two halves fin-sealed to each other at said longitudinal sides, and said container comprises the side of said upper side or said bottom side without the zipper. Preferably, the two halves are identical to each other. Thus, the number of separate parts necessary for manufacturing the container is low, thereby reducing costs.
For example, the container is made of a foil material, preferably a metalized foil material. Such foil material may be a plastic foil or a paper sheet coated with a metal layer, such as an aluminum layer. Preferably, the foil material is airtight, which helps to protect the flavor or quality of the goods or perishable goods (such as food or cigarettes).
Preferably, the foil material is a flexible foil material. This makes it possible to store the articles by applying a vacuum to the container after filling.
According to a preferred embodiment, the package further comprises an outer package surrounding the container, wherein the outer package is made of cardboard. Thus, the outer package can be made robust and at the same time be produced in an environmentally friendly manner.
Preferably, the reclosable package further comprises a reinforcing element filled into the container. The stiffening element is preferably made of cardboard.
The object of the invention is also achieved by a method for preparing a reclosable package, comprising the steps of:
(101) the provision of two halves of a container,
(102) sealing the two halves of the container at both longitudinal sides to form a tube, the tube extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to the longitudinal sides,
(103) providing a zipper comprising a slider and first and second side portions, the slider reversibly joining the first and second side portions of the zipper,
(104) securing each of the first and second side portions of the zipper to one of the two closure portions of the container,
(105) the zipper is closed, and the zipper is closed,
(106) the tube is filled with at least one product,
(107) sealing the tube at a position below the at least one product, wherein the tube forms two closed portions of the container above the at least one product,
(108) the end portion of each of the two closure portions of the container is secured to the front or rear side of the container by a sealed closure.
According to an alternative embodiment of step (103), a zipper is provided, the zipper being devoid of sliders and comprising a first side portion and a second side portion, wherein the first side portion and the second side portion of the zipper are reversibly connected to each other.
Preferably, step (104) includes securing each of the first and second side portions of the zipper to one of the two closure portions of the container by gluing, sometimes followed by application of heat.
Preferably, after step (105), the reinforcing element is filled into the tube before step (106) is performed. The reinforcement elements are preferably made of reinforcement plate elements and ensure that the products retain their shape. Furthermore, this facilitates that the fin seal can be flattened at the sides and the sealed closure can be pressed to attach to the front or back side of the container.
For all preferred embodiments of the method as described herein, it is possible to use one or more of the features as described with respect to the reclosable container. For all preferred embodiments of the reclosable container as described herein, it is possible to use one or more of the features as described with respect to the method.
Other advantages, objects and features of the invention will be set forth in the description which follows and in part will become apparent to those having ordinary skill in the art upon examination of the following or may be learned from the practice of the invention. Detailed Description
It should be noted that for the sake of clarity, not all elements of reclosable package 1 are shown in each figure. For example, the outer package 9 surrounding the container 4 is only shown by fig. 1.
According to fig. 1 and 2, the reclosable package 1 is shown in a first state a 1. This means that the zipper 5 is closed and the tear strip 7 is intact. The first state a1 represents the state prior to the first opening of the reclosable package 1. As shown, the tear strip 7 is disposed between the zipper 5 and the sealed closure 6 and connects the unsealed first and second portions 472, 473, 482, 483 of each of the two closure portions 47, 48 of the container 4. As shown, the unsealed first and second portions 472, 473, 482, 483 are located between the end portions 471, 481 and the zipper 5.
If the user wants to remove the product 3 from the container 4, the tear strip 7 must be removed. According to fig. 3a, the reclosable package 1 is shown in a second state a 2. This means that the zipper 5 is still closed and the tear strip 7 is torn and/or removed.
Next, the zipper 5 must be opened so that the two closing portions 47, 48 of the receptacle 4 can be moved away from each other and form the opening 10 of the receptacle 4. According to fig. 3b, the reclosable package 1 is shown in this third state a 3. This means that the zipper 5 has been opened and provides an opening 10 towards the cavity 2.
Fig. 1 and 2 show a reclosable package 1 comprising a cavity 2 (marked externally according to fig. 1) for storing a product 3 arranged within a container 4, which surrounds the cavity 2. By way of example, different products 3 are shown by fig. 1, including articles in the form of cigarettes, powders, cubes or cuboids.
The container 4 extends along a longitudinal direction 4x and has a rear side 41 and a front side 42 joined to each other at longitudinal sides 43, 44 parallel to the longitudinal direction 4 x. Furthermore, the container 4 has an upper side 45 and a bottom side 46, both extending along a direction 4y, 4z intersecting said longitudinal direction 4 x. One of the intersecting directions is a width direction 4y of the container 4 and the other is a height direction 4z of the container, wherein all directions 4x, 4y, 4z extend perpendicular to each other.
As shown, the zipper 5 is arranged at the upper side 45 of the receptacle 4, while the bottom side 46 is permanently sealed (see sealed position 401 according to fig. 6 b).
The zipper 5 reversibly connects the two closing portions 47, 48 of the container 4, wherein the respective end portions 471, 481 of the two closing portions 47, 48 of the container 4 are sealed to each other as a sealed closure 6. Before the reclosable package 1 is opened for the first time, the sealed closure 6 is folded flat and attached to the front side 42 of the container 4.
The two closure portions 47, 48 extend only from the zipper 5 to their end portions 471, 481 at the sealed closure 6. The reclosable package 1 has no following parts: one of the two closing portions 47, 48 has a portion which is oriented opposite to the other of the two closing portions 47, 48. Thus, the two closing portions 47, 48 comprise only one single fold (illustrated by the dashed line 12 according to fig. 2), according to which one of the closing portions is arranged in contact with the upper side 45 and in contact with the front side 42.
The tear strip 7 is shown not contacting both the zipper 5 and the sealed closure 6. This applies to both state a1 before the first opening and states a2, A3 after the first opening. As shown in fig. 3a and 3b, the condition of the sealed closure 6 is not affected by removing the tear strip 7 and/or opening the zipper 5. Thus, after the first opening, the sealed closure 6 remains attached to the front side 42.
The longitudinal extension 5x of the zipper 5 is arranged to extend parallel to the width direction 4y of the receptacle 4, wherein the longitudinal extension 5x of the zipper 5 represents the size direction of the zipper 5 (the direction along which the zipper 5 can be opened).
The total width B of the container 4, measured along its width direction 4y, is smaller than the total length L of the container 4, measured along its longitudinal direction 4 x. The total height H of the container 4, measured along its height direction 4z, is smaller than the total width B of the container 4. Thus, the zipper 5 is shown arranged parallel to the extension 4y having a medium length.
The longitudinal extension 5x of the zipper 5 is arranged to extend parallel to the longitudinal extension 6x of the sealed closure 6 and parallel to the longitudinal extension 7x of the tear strip 7. Thus, the zipper 5, the sealed closure 6 and the tear strip 7 are arranged to extend parallel to each other.
Further, fig. 4 shows that the length 51 of the zipper 5 exceeds the length 71 of the tear strip 7, and the length 71 of the tear strip 7 exceeds the length 61 of the sealed closure 6. The length 51 of the zipper 5 is less than the overall width B of the receptacle 4. In addition, the length 71 of the tear strip 7 and the length 61 of the sealed closure 6 are less than the total width B of the container 4.
Fig. 1 shows a flavour source 8 in the form of a capsule, which may be arranged within the cavity 2 and which is for example suitable for flavouring a cigarette 3.
According to fig. 4, the zipper 5 is a safety zipper comprising a locking device 52 to ensure the closed state of the zipper 5 (see state a1 or a 2). In addition, the zipper 5 includes a slider 55 that reversibly connects the first side portion 53 and the second side portion 54 of the zipper 5. In this case, the locking device 52 forms part of a slider 55.
As shown in fig. 5a and 5b, the zipper 5 comprises a first side portion 53 and a second side portion 54 reversibly connected to each other, wherein the first side portion 53 and the second side portion 54 of the zipper 5 are each fixed to one of the two closing portions 47, 48 of the receptacle 4.
Furthermore, the first side portion 53 of the zipper 5 comprises a first profile 531 and the second side portion 54 of the zipper 5 comprises a second profile 541, wherein the first profile 531 and the second profile 541 are adapted to interlock with each other. Fig. 5a shows a cross section of the two profiles 531, 541 perpendicular to the longitudinal extension 5x of the slide fastener 5.
It is shown that the first contour 531 comprises a first shape and the second contour 541 comprises a second shape, wherein the first shape is different from and complementary to the second shape. The cross-section of the first shape includes a convex portion having a first diameter 5313. The cross-section of the second shape includes a concave portion having a second diameter 5413, wherein the first diameter 5313 is equal to the second diameter 5413.
Fig. 5b shows that the first profile 531 and the second profile 541 each comprise a plurality of slits 5311, 5411 extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal extension 5x of the slide fastener 5. The slits 5411 of the second profile 541 are evenly distributed over a length 5412 of the second profile 541, wherein all slits 5411 have the same shape. The slits 5311 of the first profile 531 are not evenly distributed over the length 5312 of the first profile 531; instead, the distance between two adjacent slits 5311 varies over the length 5312 of the first profile 531. In addition, some of the slits 5311 are shown as having a first extension perpendicular to the longitudinal extension 5x of the zipper 5, and other slits 5311 are shown as having a second extension perpendicular to the longitudinal extension 5x of the zipper 5, wherein the values of the first and second extensions are different. Therefore, the slits 5311 are different in shape among all the slits 5311.
Fig. 2, 6a and 6b show that the container 4 comprises two halves 410, 420 fin-sealed to each other at the longitudinal sides 43, 44. Further, the container 4 comprises a bottom side 46 without the zipper 5. In this case, the two halves 410, 420 are identical to each other and the container 4 is made of a flexible foil material.
