Description

Side panel for drawer
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a side panel for a drawer having means on the front side for connection to a front panel and means on the rear side for connection to a rear wall, wherein the side panel has a one-piece or multi-part cladding and a plurality of interlocking molded parts forming a core for the cladding, and to a method of producing a side panel for a drawer.
Background
DE 10 2017 121 597 A1 discloses a drawer in which the side panels are formed by a thin-walled cladding and a core arranged in the cladding. The core includes a plurality of molded portions that are interlocked and provide the necessary stability to the side panels. The molded part formed of plastic and the cladding formed of sheet steel may vary in length due to tolerances, particularly because the tolerances on the molded part are additive in the longitudinal direction. This may result in gaps being formed at the ends of the side panels of the drawer or increased contact pressure.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a side panel for drawers which can be produced precisely in the longitudinal direction with the desired length. Furthermore, an efficient method for producing side panels of drawers will be provided.
The object is achieved by a side panel having the features of claim 1 and a method for producing a side panel of a drawer having the features of claim 12.
In the side panel according to the invention, the core comprises at least two moulded parts between which the compensating element is arranged, wherein the distance between the two moulded parts in the longitudinal direction of the side panel is adjustable by stretching or compressing the compensating element. Thus, tolerances in the production of the molded portions can be compensated for in order to accurately produce a core of a desired length relative to the cladding. In particular if different materials are used, such as sheet steel and moulded parts made of plastic, a more accurate positioning of the moulded parts at the ends of the side panels can thus be ensured. The compensation element enables adjustment in the longitudinal direction of the side panels, but can be made dimensionally stable perpendicular to the compensation element in the width direction of the side panels to also support the cladding in the region of the compensation element.
The adjustment travel effected by the compensation element is preferably in the range between-4 mm and +4mm, in particular in the range between-2 mm and +2 mm. In a longer core consisting of more than 3 moulded parts, a plurality of compensating elements may alternatively be provided on the side panels.
The compensation element is preferably formed integrally with at least one of the two molded parts, preferably also with both molded parts, as a flexible element. The molded part and the compensating element may be produced from plastic, for example as injection molded part. The flexible element may comprise a bendable web connecting the two moulded parts to each other. The flexible web may be made V-shaped, U-shaped, arched, curved or meandering to achieve longitudinal direction adjustability. Alternatively or additionally, the bendable web may be formed obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction in order to be able to adjust the two molded parts with respect to each other in the longitudinal direction. The web of the compensating element may have the same width as the moulded part, thereby supporting the cladding also in said region.
Alternatively or additionally, the compensation element may be formed in two parts. The compensation element may comprise a locking element or a clamping element which allows to shorten or lengthen the length between the two mould parts stepwise or continuously within a specified range via a positive fit and/or friction locking and thus to achieve an adjustment of the two mould parts relative to each other. In a two-part or multi-part construction, one molded part side can be displaceably held with respect to the other molded part side by a clamping force or a locking means, wherein one or both sides provide a locking or clamping element interacting with a suitable structure of the other side. For example, one part of the compensation element may be formed as an insert part, in particular as a web, which is insertable into a socket part on an adjacent mould part. The socket portion may form a socket between the two webs and may secure the insert portion in a clamping or locking manner.
If a flexible element or clamping element is used in the compensation element, an end stop may additionally be used, which limits excessive stretching or compression of the flexible element or prevents the clamping element from being released by being pulled apart.
The end stop may be formed either integrally, preferably as a protrusion, on the flexible element or the clamping element, or as a separate element on the compensating element.
Grooves for inserting edges of the drawer bottom panel may be formed on the molded portion of the core of the side panel to enable the side panel to be stably coupled to the bottom panel.
For low material use, the molded portion may be at least partially composed of a hollow support structure formed by a honeycomb structure or cell. This enables a high level of stability to be achieved with low material usage.
The cladding is preferably bonded to the core, wherein the cladding is produced from one or more thin-walled elements, in particular from a bent metal sheet.
The side panels thus formed can be used in particular for drawers installed in furniture or household appliances.
In the method according to the invention, a plurality of molded parts are first brought together to form an oblong core, wherein the individual molded parts can have a corresponding contour for this purpose at the edges in the longitudinal direction, for example with a tongue and groove or other geometry. The compensation element is arranged at least between two mould parts or in one mould part. In a further step, an adhesive is applied between the cladding and the core, or on the cladding only, or on the core only, or on both. Furthermore, the length of the core is changed by stretching or compressing at least one compensation element. The above steps may be performed in any order. Finally, the adhesive cures to bond the cladding to the core, the length of which is adjusted.

Detailed Description
The drawer 1 comprises a bottom panel 2, a rear wall 3 connecting two side panels 4 to each other and a front panel (not shown). The front panel is fixed to the two side panels 4 at means 5 for connecting to the front panel, which in the illustrated exemplary embodiment are formed as pins.
In fig. 2, the side panel 4 is shown in detail without other components, wherein the means 5 for connecting to the front panel are provided on the front side and instead of two pins four pins are shown. The side panels 4 comprise an externally visible envelope having an inner wall 7 and an outer wall 8, said envelope surrounding the core. The cladding may be produced from one or more thin-walled elements, in particular from bent sheet metal. A recess 6 for inserting the edge of the bottom panel 2 of the drawer is formed below the inner wall 7.
In fig. 3, a core 10 of a side panel 4 is shown, which is bonded to a cladding (not shown). The core 10 comprises a plurality of molded parts 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 which are connected at least at one edge to adjacent molded parts in a form-fitting manner. The molding parts 11, 12, 13, 15, and 17 are formed substantially in a plate shape, wherein the number of molding parts may be changed to change the length of the core 10. The means 5 for connecting to the front panel are arranged on a holding element 16, which holding element 16 is provided on an end-side molding 15, which is arranged on the front side. The retaining element 16 is adjustably retained on the moulded portion 15 to enable lateral and/or vertical adjustment of the front panel relative to the side panels 4.
The means 9 for connecting to the rear wall 3 are provided on the last molded part 17 seen in the longitudinal direction, said means comprising angled holding means, to which the rear wall 3 can be fixed via fastening means.
All the moulded parts 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 have a recess 6 into which the edge of the base plate 2 can be inserted.
A compensating element 14 is arranged between the mould parts 12 and 13, with which the length of the core 10 formed by the mould parts 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 can be adjusted.
Fig. 4 shows a core without side panels of the device with means for connecting 5, 9, where the means for connecting 5, 9 can alternatively be placed only after engagement of the cladding.
The two moulded parts 12 and 13 are shown in detail in figure 5. The moulded portion 12 comprises on its front side a socket 19 formed by two webs into which at least one tongue or projection 20 of an adjacent moulded portion 11, 15 can be inserted. The mould part 13 has on its rear side a projection 20 which can be inserted into a socket 19 of an adjacent mould part 11, 17. The moulded parts 12 and 13 have on the upper side protrusions 25 on which the cladding layers 7 and 8 can be mechanically suspended, but can additionally also be used for guide wires. An opening 26 for screwing the bottom panel 2 with the molded parts 12 and 13 is provided in the region of the recess 6.
In order to change the length of the core 10 during production of the panel, a compensating element 14 is provided between the mould parts 12 and 13, said compensating element being in the form of a flexible element made of a bendable web integrally formed with the two mould parts 12 and 13. The web is here arranged in a V-shape such that both legs of the web extend obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the side panel 4 and thus the distance between the two mould parts 12 and 13 can be changed by compressing or pulling apart the mould parts 12 and 13. The web of the compensating element 14 has the same width as the molded parts 12 and 13, so that the cladding is also stably supported in the region of the compensating element 14.
The moulded parts 12 and 13 comprise a support structure 18 made of a honeycomb structure having a cavity above the recess of at least 70% with respect to the filling volume. Only in the vicinity of the recess 6, a part of the molded portions 12 and 13 is formed of a solid material. The support structure 18 preferably occupies at least 40% of the volume of the molded portions 12 and 13.
In fig. 6, means 9 for connecting the side panels 4 to the rear wall 3 are shown, comprising an angled element with a rear plate, which means can be screwed together with the rear wall 3, wherein other fastening means can also be provided. A compensating element 21 in the form of a flexible element consisting of a flexible web and a stop element is located between the rear fastening means and a holding means 22, which can be fixed to the last molded part 17. The distance of the rear wall 3 relative to the cladding layers 7 and 8 can thus also be varied.
The position of the compensating element 14 or 21 can be freely chosen on the side panel 4. The flexible compensation element may alternatively be arranged centrally between or at the ends of two adjacent mould parts 12 and 13, as shown in the holding means 22 formed as mould parts. Furthermore, a plurality of compensation elements 14 and 21 can also be provided on the core 10 in the longitudinal direction.
The moulded part 11 without compensation means is shown in figure 7. In the longitudinal direction of the side panels 4, one side of the moulded portion 11 has receptacles 19 formed by two webs and on opposite side projections 20 which are insertable into the receptacles 19 of an adjacent moulded portion 11. The geometry of the socket 19 and the protrusion 20 may be selected according to the strength requirements. Each moulded part 11 comprises a support structure 18 provided with cavities, in particular a honeycomb structure consisting of at least 70% cavities, above the recess 6 for receiving the edge of the bottom panel 2.
To assemble the side panels 4, the first molded portions 11 are interlocked and then at least one compensating element 14 connected to or integral with the molded portions 12 and 13 is inserted, and optionally the other molded portions 11 are connected until the desired length of the core 10 thus formed is obtained. Furthermore, a cladding having an inner wall 7 and an outer wall 8 is provided and an adhesive is alternately applied to the cladding and/or the core 10. The core 10 is adjusted by stretching or compressing in the longitudinal direction of the side panels so that the core 10 has just the required length before the core 10 so adjusted is bonded to the cladding 7 and 8. After the adhesive has cured, it is therefore no longer possible to reset the core 10.
In fig. 8, the compensation element 30 is shown in the form of an arched web which forms a ring and flexibly holds the two molded parts 12 and 13 against one another in a specific range of movement.
Fig. 9 shows a two-part compensation element. The first part of the compensating element is formed as a web-shaped insertion portion 32 which is insertable into a socket portion on the adjacent mould part 12. The socket part comprises a socket between two webs 31 which are formed as hooks and have inwardly projecting retaining webs 33 on the end sections and on which the insert part 32 is fastened in a clamping manner.
In fig. 10, contrary to fig. 9, the web-shaped insert part 32 is provided with ribs 34 on the surface, so that the connection with the retaining web 33 of the socket part takes place in a locking manner, thus stepwise.
Fig. 11 shows a compensating element in which the socket part is formed as in fig. 9 and 10, but a widened head section 35 is formed on the insertion part 32, which head section locks into the socket behind the retaining web 33.
The socket portion is shown in fig. 2, wherein the angled section 36 is formed on two webs 31 of the socket portion, and the web-shaped insert portion 32 is inserted between two legs of the angled section 36.
In fig. 9 to 12, the two webs 31 of the socket portion are formed to taper toward each other. In fig. 13, the socket portion has two extension webs 37, with an angled section 36 being integrally formed on each extension web, wherein the web-shaped insert portion 32 is inserted into the socket portion.
Fig. 14 shows a variant of a compensating element with a web-shaped insert part 32 which is held in a clamping manner on two hooked webs 39. Hook webs 39 are pivotally formed on adjacent wall sections 38.
The number of compensating elements between two or more molded parts may vary depending on the installation requirements. Furthermore, the above-described exemplary embodiments of the compensation element may be combined with each other as desired.
