Alternatively, the gas outflow port 43 and the ink inflow port 44 may be provided as a gas outflow port and the ink outflow port 89 may be provided as an ink inflow port in the ink cartridge C1, and correspondingly, the gas inflow port 88 and the ink outflow port may be provided as a gas inflow port and an ink outflow port in the external member 80, respectively.

As described above, the external body C2 is combined with the modified ink cartridge C1 to form an expanded ink cartridge C, and then the expanded ink cartridge C can be filled with ink as the unmodified ink cartridge C0, and in the up-down direction, when the ink line in the ink cartridge C1 is higher than the gas outflow port 43, the ink in the ink cartridge C1 will be consumed first, when the ink line in the ink cartridge C1 is lower than the gas outflow port 43, the air entering the cavity of the ink cartridge C1 will enter the ink storage space S4 of the external member 80 through the gas outflow port 43, resulting in the increase of the air pressure in the ink storage space S4, and the ink in the ink storage space S4 will flow into the cavity of the ink cartridge C1 through the ink outflow port 89, so that the ink line in the cavity of the ink cartridge C1 is consistent with the gas outflow port 43, and the process is repeated until the ink in the external body C2 is consumed, and then the ink cartridge in the cavity of the ink cartridge C1 starts to be consumed; the ink amount in the chamber of the ink cartridge C1 is always maintained at a constant value, i.e., the ink line is at the same height as the gas outlet 43, until the ink in the external body C2 is consumed, so that even if the ink cartridge C is shaken during operation of the ink jet printer, the pressure change of the ink cartridge C1 to the print head is almost negligible, thereby ensuring stable printing quality.
The change in the amount of ink in the ink storage space S4 of the external member 80 can be observed at any time by the operator through the transparent cover member 86, and the ink outflow tube 89 is disposed in close proximity to the partition G, which results in complete consumption of the ink in the ink storage space S4. In the embodiment of the present invention, the external body C2 is replaceable, that is, the external body C2 and the ink cartridge C1 are detachably coupled, and when the operator observes that the ink in the ink storage space S4 is consumed, the external body C2 which has consumed the ink can be separated from the ink cartridge C1, and then a new external body C2 is replaced to be coupled with the ink cartridge C1.
The replacement process of the external body C2 is as follows:
first, the external body C2 and the ink cartridge C1, which have been exhausted, are separated from each other, and since the self-sealing member 70 has a self-sealing function, the self-sealing member 70 located at the air outlet 43 and the ink inlet 44 is automatically sealed after the air inlet tube 88 and the ink outlet tube 89 are disengaged from the air outlet 43 and the ink inlet 44, respectively, so that the ink in the ink cartridge C1 does not flow out.
Then, the front panel 81 where the gas inflow tube 88 and the ink outflow tube 89 of the prepared exterior body C2 are located is placed upward, the rear panel 40 where the gas outflow port 43 and the ink inflow port 44 of the ink cartridge C1 are located is placed downward, so that the gas outflow port 43 corresponds to the gas inflow tube 88, the ink inflow port 44 corresponds to the ink outflow tube 89, and at least one of the rib 61 and the rib 31 corresponds to the holding space 93, and finally the ink cartridge C1 is combined with the new exterior body C2.
By making the external unit C2 replaceable, an operator can expand the capacity of the ink cartridge C according to the type of the ink jet printer by combining the external unit C2 and the ink cartridge C1, that is, the capacity of the expanded ink cartridge C is not a fixed value, but can be changed arbitrarily according to the requirement.
In summary, the expansion method according to the present invention is applicable not only to the new ink cartridge C1 formed by injection molding but also to the existing ink cartridge C0 that has consumed ink, and only when the existing ink cartridge C0 that has consumed ink is used, the ink cartridge C0 is modified or regenerated into the ink cartridge C1 so that the joint or the joined portion 90 is formed in the ink cartridge C1, and the specific method is as follows:
preparing an external body C2 containing ink;
cutting off the closing plate 41, the arc part 42 and the first support plate 32 on the polygon body (the modified ink box) C0 to form a modified ink box C1;
an air outlet 43 and an ink inlet 44 are arranged on the rear side plate 40;
a part of the external body C2 (bonded portion 90) is inserted between the upper side plate 30 and the top plate 60 such that at least one of the upper rib 61 and the lower rib 31 is opposed to the external body C2, and the external body C2 is in gas communication and liquid communication with the polygonal body C1 through the gas flow outlet 43 and the ink flow inlet 44.
Wherein, cutting away first support plate 32 includes cutting away left support plate 32a located at the left side of the second support plate and right support plate 32b located at the right side of the second support plate, and finally, second support plate 62 is further provided between upper side plate 30 and top plate 60.
The external body C2 is detachably coupled to the polygonal body (modified ink cartridge) C1, and forms a gas communication and an ink (liquid) communication therebetween, thereby forming the volume-expanded ink cartridge C.

Claims (9)

1. 2. The expanded ink cartridge according to claim 1, wherein the existing ink cartridge is an ink cartridge that has been depleted of ink; the external body is detachably combined with the existing ink box, and the external body can be replaced after ink is consumed.
3. The expanded ink tank as claimed in claim 2, wherein the ink inflow port is provided close to a lower side plate of the existing ink tank.
4. The expanded ink cartridge according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein a gas inlet pipe coupled to the gas outlet and an ink outlet pipe coupled to the ink inlet are provided on the front plate of the outer body.
5. The expanded ink cartridge according to claim 4, wherein: the gas flow outlet is located above the ink flow inlet.
6. The expanded ink cartridge according to claim 5, wherein: the external body and the existing ink box have the same size in the vertical direction.
7. The expanded ink cartridge according to claim 5, wherein the expanded ink cartridge includes a self-sealing member for sealing the gas outflow port or the ink inflow port, and the self-sealing member is automatically sealed after the gas inflow tube or the ink outflow tube is disengaged from the gas outflow port or the ink inflow port, respectively.
8. The expanded ink cartridge of claim 7, wherein the external member abuts against the rear plate of the existing ink cartridge, and the rear plate of the existing ink cartridge is closely attached to the front plate of the external member.
9. The expanded ink cartridge according to claim 8, wherein: the ink box and the external body are combined through a combination part, and the position of the combination part is not positioned on the gas outlet and the ink inlet.
