Abstract

The present invention provides a two-piece facial skin mask for men that provides the dual functions of oil control for the upper face and enhancing the skin barrier properties of the lower face.

Description

Facial mask for male
Technical Field
The invention relates to a facial mask for male.
Background
Skin care masks are known. Furthermore, two-piece masks (an upper mask portion and a lower mask portion having an upper area and a lower area for the face, respectively) are known. However, until recently, men were provided with facial skin masks. The male specific facial skin care needs are a relatively new area of skin care research.
Disclosure of Invention
Through internal searching, one unexpectedly discovered the unique attributes of the male facial skin and the resulting needs. One technical idea is that the skin barrier function of male facial skin is generally poor and the moisture content of bare skin is low compared to female skin. In addition, the shaving area (i.e., beard area) of the male's facial skin is different from the rest of the male's facial skin. In particular, the shaving area has a relatively dry skin and a poor barrier function. Still further, the upper part of the face, the so-called "T-zone" (defined by the forehead and nose areas), has more sebum production and a greater need for "oil control" benefits. In accordance with the present study, a two-piece mask with a unique formulation was designed to meet the unique needs of these different skin areas of a male face.
One aspect provides a facial mask for adult males, comprising: a separate upper face film that incorporates a first liquid skin care formulation, and a separate lower face film that incorporates a second liquid skin care formulation. The separate upper mask portion is intended to be applied to cover at least a portion of the T-zone of the face. The separate lower mask portion is intended to be applied to cover at least a portion of the shaving area of the face. The first liquid skin care formulation comprises at least a first vitamin at a first concentration, and wherein the second liquid skin care formulation comprises a first vitamin at a second concentration, and wherein the first concentration is different from the second concentration.
In another aspect, there is provided a facial mask for adult males, comprising: a separate upper face film that incorporates a first liquid skin care formulation, and a separate lower face film that incorporates a second liquid skin care formulation. The first liquid skin care formulation comprises at least a first vitamin, and wherein the second liquid skin care formulation comprises a second vitamin.
These and other features of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon review of the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the appended claims.
Drawings
While the specification concludes with claims particularly defining and distinctly claiming the invention, it is believed that the present invention will be better understood from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. In fig. 1, a perspective view of a facial skin mask for an adult male is provided.
Detailed Description
Definition of
All percentages, parts and ratios are based on the total weight of the compositions of the present invention, unless otherwise specified. Unless otherwise indicated, all such weights as they pertain to listed ingredients are based on the effective level and, therefore, do not include solvents or by-products that may be included in commercially available materials. The term "weight percent" may be expressed herein as "wt%". All molecular weights used herein are weight average molecular weights expressed in grams/mole, unless otherwise specified.
As used herein, articles including "a" and "an" when used in a claim should be understood to refer to one or more of the articles as claimed or described.
As used herein, the terms "comprising," "including," and "containing" are intended to be non-limiting, i.e., other steps and other parts may be added that do not affect the end result. The above terms include the terms "consisting of …" and "consisting essentially of …".
As used herein, the words "preferred", "preferably" and variations refer to embodiments of the invention that provide certain benefits under certain circumstances. However, other embodiments may also be preferred, under the same or other circumstances. Furthermore, the recitation of one or more preferred embodiments does not imply that other embodiments are not useful, and is not intended to exclude other embodiments from the scope of the invention.
Referring to fig. 1, a two-piece mask (1) for an adult male is provided. The mask (1) has an independent upper mask part (3) and an independent lower mask part (5). The separate upper mask part (3) is intended to be applied topically to the upper part of the face of an adult male user (not shown), specifically referred to above as "T-zone", and applied thereon for a defined time. Preferably, a separate upper mask part (3) is applied to at least a part of the T-zone, more preferably to cover a major part of the T-zone of the user, even more preferably to cover the whole of the T-zone of the user. For example, the separate upper mask part (3) comprises a forehead area (11) intended to cover the forehead of the user. The separate upper mask part (3) further comprises a nose area (9) intended to cover the nose of the user. Preferably, the nose region (9) has slits on either side to allow the mask to adapt to the reverse side of the face, i.e. to make maximum contact with the upper part of the user (including the nose protruding from the face). The slits help make the separate upper mask part (3) more suitable for topical application by the user, increasing the comfort of application by the user. The separate upper mask sheet includes a first eye incision (7A) and a second eye incision (7B). In this way, the user can see when the separate upper mask part (3) is applied topically on the upper part of the user's face. A secondary benefit is that the eye incisions allow the user to better align the separate upper mask portion (3) on the corresponding upper portion of the user's face.
Still referring to fig. 1, the mask (1) has a separate lower mask portion (5) intended to be applied topically to the lower part of the face of an adult male user (not shown), specifically to the shaving area of the male facial skin (i.e. the beard area), and applied thereto for a defined time. Preferably, the separate lower mask part (5) is applied to at least a part of the beard area, more preferably covers a major part of the user's beard area, even more preferably covers the whole of the user's (face) beard area. For example, the separate lower mask portion (5) includes a toed-beard region (15), a chin region (19), a first cheek region (17A), and a second cheek region (17B). The separate lower mask portion (5) comprises a mouth cutout (13). In this way, the user can speak when applying the separate lower mask part (5) topically on the lower part of the user's face. A secondary benefit is that the mouth cut-out allows the user to better align the lower mask portion (5) on the corresponding lower portion of the user's face.
There are a variety of different substrates that can be used in the mask herein, including nonwovens, cotton, hydrogels, and biocellulose. The preferred substrate is a nonwoven material. In one example, the outer surface of the mask portion (3,5) (relative to when the mask portion is applied by a user) is coated with a metal foil or an aluminum foil. An advantage of the metal foil is that it prevents evaporation of the combined skin care composition or active therein during application of the mask. In another example, only the separate lower mask portion (5) comprises a metal foil on one side. This helps to communicate to the user that the separate upper and lower mask portions (3,5) are different from each other and can therefore provide different skin effects to the user.
The substrate (separate upper and lower mask portions (3,5)) is capable of retaining liquid, in particular a liquid skin care formulation. Suppliers of mask substrates include Alliqua Biomedical, Bel Mondo Beauty, Biocrown Biotechnology, Inc., Denex International, Filesa S.A., Intracosmed AG, KATECHO, Nox Below Cosmetics, Inc., Shanghai Gui Zhi International Trading, Inc., and TAIKI GROUP.
Although not shown in fig. 1, the mask portion incorporates corresponding skin care formulations, wherein these skin care formulations are distinct from one another (to provide unique skin care benefits to the upper and lower portions of the adult male user's face). Specifically, the separate upper mask portion incorporates a first liquid skin care formulation and the separate lower mask portion incorporates a second liquid skin care formulation. In one aspect, the first liquid skin care formulation comprises at least a first vitamin at a first concentration, and the second liquid skin care formulation comprises a first vitamin at a second concentration. The first concentration is different from the second concentration. Preferably, the first concentration is from 0.5% to less than 2.5% by weight of the first liquid skin care composition and the second concentration is from greater than 2.5% to 10% by weight of the second liquid skin care composition.
Vitamins are known for use in skin care to provide cosmetic skin care benefits. The concentration of the vitamin will also affect the type and/or degree of skin care benefit imparted to the user. Non-limiting examples of vitamins include vitamin a compounds, vitamin C compounds, vitamin E compounds, vitamin B3 compounds, and combinations thereof.
The preferred vitamin is a vitamin B3 compound. Non-limiting examples of vitamin B3 compounds include nicotinic acid esters, including non-vasodilating esters of nicotinic acid (e.g., tocopherol nicotinate), nicotinyl amino acids, nicotinyl alcohol esters of carboxylic acids, nicotinic acid N-oxide, and nicotinamide N-oxide. Preferably, the vitamin B3 compound is niacinamide. Preferably, the vitamin B3 compound is present (in the liquid skin care compositions herein) at 0.1% to 30%, preferably 1% to 20%, more preferably 2% to 10% by weight of the liquid skin care composition.
In another aspect, the first liquid skin care formulation comprises at least a first vitamin, and the second liquid skin care formulation comprises a second vitamin. For example, the first vitamin is vitamin B3 and the second vitamin is vitamin E.
The skin care composition may also include a humectant, an additional skin care active, and a solvent such as water.
Humectants are polyols intended to moisturize, reduce scaling, and stimulate the removal of scale from the skin. Typical polyols include polyalkylene glycols and more preferably alkylene polyols and their derivatives. Preferred examples of humectants are propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, sorbitol, hydroxypropyl sorbitol, hexylene glycol, 1, 3-butylene glycol, 1,2, 6-hexanetriol, ethoxylated glycerin, propoxylated glycerin and mixtures thereof. The preferred humectant is glycerin. Preferably, glycerin is present from 1% to 60%, preferably from 2% to 50%, more preferably from 5% to 40% by weight of the liquid skin care composition.
The skin care composition may comprise additional skin care actives including pantothenic acid derivatives (including panthenol, dexpanthenol, ethyl panthenol). Typically, levels herein include from 0.01% to 2% by weight of the skin care composition.
The skin care composition comprises water. Typical water levels may include from 99% to 65%, preferably from 95% to 70%, more preferably from 93% to 78% by weight of the skin care composition.
Adult male users apply the mask topically and within a defined time. Indeed, it is contemplated that separate upper and lower mask portions, incorporating first and second liquid skin care formulations, respectively, will provide time for the desired cosmetic effect of the formulations to be effective. Typical non-limiting time periods for application of the mask include 5 minutes to 60 minutes, alternatively 10 to 20 minutes, alternatively 15 to 20 minutes. The mask may be applied at any time of day or night. Preferably, the mask is applied near bedtime (i.e., within 1-2 hours of the user going to bed).
Preferably, the separate upper mask portion and the separate lower mask portion are each packaged in their respective primary packages, such as pouches. These primary packages, either for a single sheet mask or multiple sheets of mask (e.g., 2-10 sheets of mask), are then packaged in a secondary package such as a cardboard or paperboard carton.
Examples
Embodiments of facial skin masks for adult male users are provided.
