Description

Method, system, device and medium for improving server efficiency based on redundant power supply
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of servers, and more particularly, to a method, system, computer device and readable medium for improving server performance based on redundant power supplies.
Background
As technology advances rapidly and servers become more and more efficient, in order to prevent Power Supply problems, the Power Supply Unit (PSU) of the system is designed as an N + N redundancy. With the configuration of 1+1PSU redundancy, when one PSU in the server fails, the system can still be supplied to operate in a manner that a single PSU operates. However, if both PSUs are operating properly, the system will only be configured with the maximum wattage device that a single PSU can withstand.
That is, in the current redundancy design of 1+1psu, the maximum load configuration of the system can only configure the backend device according to the maximum power consumption of a single PSU, and under the normal maximum efficiency operation of the system, the PSUs only consume 50% of the power consumption respectively to cope with the operation of the system, and the remaining 50% of the power consumption is limited by the waste of the system to support the redundancy configuration; for example: if the system supports the redundant design of PSU 1+1 at 2000 watts, the maximum power consumption configuration of the system device is only close to 2000 watts, when the system is in operation, two PSUs only need to consume 1000 watts each to support the system operation, but the PSUs still have the energy of 2000 watts in all. Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the present invention more apparent, the following embodiments of the present invention are described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
It should be noted that all expressions using "first" and "second" in the embodiments of the present invention are used for distinguishing two entities with the same name but different names or different parameters, and it should be noted that "first" and "second" are merely for convenience of description and should not be construed as limitations of the embodiments of the present invention, and they are not described in any more detail in the following embodiments.
In view of the foregoing, a first aspect of the embodiments of the present invention provides an embodiment of a method for improving server performance based on redundant power supplies. Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating an embodiment of a method for improving server performance based on redundant power supplies according to the present invention. As shown in fig. 1, the embodiment of the present invention includes the following steps:
s1, setting a corresponding number of AND gates and OR gates according to the number of power supplies;
s2, taking the two power supplies as a group, distributing an AND gate and an OR gate for each group, inputting the first ends of all the power supplies in the same group into the AND gate, and inputting the second ends of all the power supplies in the same group into the OR gate;
s3, obtaining the outputs of all AND gates and OR gates, and detecting whether the outputs of all AND gates and OR gates are high levels; and
and S4, responding to the high level of the output of all AND gates and OR gates, opening the enable signal of the hot plug line, and increasing the utilization rate of the rear-end device to the maximum.
Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of an architecture of a set of power supplies in an embodiment of the present invention. The server sets a Hot Swap Circuit (Hot Swap Circuit) at the point of the PSU access board, so as to determine to deliver the PSU output voltage to the backend device after the PSU output voltage is stabilized, and to slow down the pulse current at the PSU access moment to avoid damaging the backend device. In the embodiment of the invention, each group of Power supply comprises two PSUs, and the output signals are transmitted to the system chip to judge the health state of the PSUs based on Power Good signals provided by the two PSUs by utilizing the principle of a logic gate, so that the enabling of a hot plug line and the utilization rate of a rear-end device are controlled. The circuit of the invention respectively accesses the Power Good signals of the two PSUs into an AND gate AND an OR gate, AND outputs the results of the two logic gates to a system chip for judgment, wherein the OR gate is responsible for informing the system chip that the group of PSUs can also normally supply Power, AND the AND gate is responsible for informing the system chip of the health state of the group of two PSUs.
And setting the corresponding number of AND gates and OR gates according to the number of the power supplies. Half the number of and gates of the power supply and the same number of or gates may be provided. In order to know the state of each power supply more accurately, an and gate and an or gate can be arranged between any two power supplies. When the two inputs of the AND gate are both high level, the high level is output, and the low level is output under the other conditions; the or gate will only output a low level when both inputs are low, and will output a high level otherwise.
Two power supplies are used as a group, each group is distributed with an AND gate and an OR gate, the first ends of all the power supplies in the same group are input into the AND gate, and the second ends of all the power supplies in the same group are input into the OR gate. In the embodiment of the invention, two power supplies are used as a group, each group is provided with an AND gate and an OR gate, the first ends of the two power supplies are input into the AND gate, and the second ends of the two power supplies are input into the OR gate.
And acquiring the outputs of all AND gates and OR gates, and detecting whether the outputs of all the AND gates and the OR gates are high levels. And responding to the high level of the output of all the AND gates and the OR gates, opening the enabling signal of the hot plug line, and increasing the utilization rate of the back-end device to the maximum.
FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating normal operation of a set of power supplies according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 3, when both PSUs in a set of Power supplies are operating normally, the Power Good signal is at a high level, and both the and gate and the or gate output a high level. If the output of the AND gate and the OR gate of each group of power supplies is high level, the system chip receives the enable signal to open the hot plug line and informs the server that the utilization rate of the back-end device can be improved, and if the maximum power consumption of one group of power supplies is 4000w, if only one group of power supplies is provided in the embodiment, the highest efficiency of the system device can reach 4000w.
FIG. 4 is a diagram illustrating a normal and an abnormal power source in a group of power sources according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 4, if there is a PSU failure, the Power Good signal thereof will be at low level, and the or gate will maintain high level output, but the and gate will become low level output, and when the system chip receives the state of the logic gate, it will find that there is a PSU problem, and at this time, if the whole server has only this group of Power supply, it will regulate and control the usage performance of the backend device to within 2000w that a single PSU can bear, and maintain the redundant function of the PSU.
FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram of a set of power supplies all being abnormal according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 5, if both of the power supplies of a group of power supplies fail, the outputs of the and gate and the or gate are both low level, and when the system chip receives the state of the logic gate, it will find that both PSUs have problems, and at this time, if the whole server has only the group of power supplies, it will alarm.
In some embodiments, the method further comprises: and responding to the fact that the output of all AND gates and OR gates is not high level, and adjusting the utilization rate of the rear-end device according to the output of the AND gates and the OR gates.
In some embodiments, said adjusting the usage of said back-end device according to the output of said and or gate comprises: judging whether the output of the AND gate and the OR gate is low level; and in response to the output of the AND gate and the OR gate being low level, closing the enable signal of the hot plug line and giving an alarm.
In some embodiments, said adjusting the usage of said back-end device according to the output of said and or gate comprises: determining a first number of groups in which the AND gates and the OR gates output high levels, and determining a second number of groups in which the AND gates output low levels and the OR gates output high levels; and determining the number of the normal power supplies according to the first number and the second number, and adjusting the utilization rate of the back-end device according to the number of the normal power supplies. For example, if there are 5 sets of power supplies, 2 sets of and gates and or gates each output a high level, 2 sets of and gates output a low level and 2 sets of or gates output a high level, and the remaining 1 sets of and gates and or gates each output a low level, then the first number and the second number are both 2, and the number of normal power supplies = the first number x 2+ the second number, and thus the number of normal power supplies is 6. The utilization rate of the back-end device is adjusted according to the number of the normal power supplies. The total amount of power supplies is 10, the maximum power consumption of each power supply is 2000w, so the total power consumption is 20000w, at this time, the number of normal power supplies is 6, the maximum power consumption capable of being provided is 12000w, namely, the maximum utilization rate is 60%.
In some embodiments, said adjusting the usage of said back-end device according to the output of said and or gate comprises: and determining the use priority of the back-end device, and determining the use condition of the back-end device according to the priority and the use rate.
In some embodiments, said determining the usage of the backend device according to the priority and the usage rate comprises: and averagely distributing the power corresponding to the utilization rate to the back-end device with the utilization priority higher than the threshold value. For example, the priority of use of the devices a, B, C, and D in the backend apparatus is 5, 6, 3, and 2, respectively, the larger the priority of use indicates the higher the priority, the threshold may be 4, for example, and the priority of use of the devices a and B is higher than the threshold, and the power consumption that can be supplied by the normal power supply is evenly distributed to the devices a and B. Assuming that the number of normal power sources is 6 and the normal power consumption of each power source is 2000w, 12000w may be equally distributed to the devices a and B. Of course, 12000w may be allocated to device a and device B in a certain ratio.
In some embodiments, the devices in the backend apparatus may also be sorted according to the usage priority, and the power corresponding to the usage rate may be distributed to the corresponding devices according to the sorting. Continuing with the above example, the backend device is ordered according to usage priority as follows: B. a, C and D, 12000W can be used for meeting the operation of the device B, more power consumption can be used for meeting the operation of the device A, and if more power consumption can be used continuously according to the sequence.
In some embodiments, the method further comprises: restarting the power supply of the group of which the output of the AND gate and the OR gate is low level, and detecting whether the output of the AND gate and the OR gate is low level again; and in response to detecting that the output of the AND gate and the OR gate is low again, restarting and detecting again until the restart times reach the threshold value. In some cases, the low level of the output of the AND gate and the OR gate may be a problem of a line, but not a problem of the power supply itself, and the problems may be avoided by restarting, and if the low level of the output of the AND gate and the OR gate is displayed by restarting for a plurality of times, the problem of the power supply itself may be determined.
The AND logic gate AND the OR logic gate are used for respectively judging two Power Good signals of two Power supplies in a group of Power supplies, under the condition that two PSUs in each group are normal, the respective Power Good signals are all at high level, the AND logic gate AND the OR logic gate can both output high-level signals to a system chip, when the system chip receives the two high-level signals, an enabling signal of a hot plug circuit can be opened to enable the system chip to work, the utilization rate of a rear-end device is improved, AND the efficiency is improved; when one PSU in some groups of Power supplies has a problem AND a fault, the Power good signal of the PSU presents a low level, the other PSU is normal, the output of the AND logic gate presents a low level, the output of the OR logic gate still maintains a high level, AND at the moment, when the system chip receives the signal output by the AND logic gate, the hot-plug line can continuously operate, but the utilization rate of a rear-end device can be reduced to a range which can be borne by the corresponding number of PSUs, so that the effect of PSU redundancy design is not influenced; if two PSUs in each group have faults, the Power Good all presents a low-level signal, the outputs of the two logic gates present low levels, and the system chip disconnects the hot plug line after receiving the low-level signal and gives an alarm to inform a user.
It should be particularly noted that, the steps in the embodiments of the method for improving the performance of the server based on the redundant power supply can be mutually intersected, replaced, added, and deleted, so that these methods for improving the performance of the server based on the redundant power supply, which are reasonably arranged and combined, also belong to the scope of the present invention, and the scope of the present invention should not be limited to the embodiments.
