Description

At present, with the size of the display panel gradually increasing, the resolution of the display panel is also increasing, and since the high resolution display panel can support higher resolution, the high resolution display panel has been widely used, but due to the limitation of the interface and bandwidth between each chip or device between the SOC chip and the display panel, and the limitation of the manufacturing process of each chip and device, most of the high resolution display panels need a larger data transmission amount due to the higher resolution, so that the supported refresh rate is limited, which affects the improvement of the high resolution display panel on the refresh rate. For example, a display panel with a resolution of 4K × 2K can support a refresh rate of typically up to 161Hz, and sometimes even only 144 Hz.
Therefore, it is necessary to provide a driving method capable of increasing the refresh rate of the high-resolution display panel so that the high-resolution display panel can support a higher refresh rate.

Detailed Description
The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present application will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present application. It is to be understood that the embodiments described are only a few embodiments of the present application and not all embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present application.
It should be noted that, the image signal different from the resolution of the display panel is scaled to adapt to the resolution of the display panel, so that the image signal is displayed in the display panel, which can be realized by an interpolation algorithm, the interpolation algorithm has high accuracy and wide application range, and is particularly applied to a scaling process in which an image is not in an integer proportion, but the interpolation algorithm has a complex calculation process and a long time delay, and for the scaling process in which the image signal is in the integer proportion, such as the scaling process in which the image signal is in the integer proportion between rows and the scaling process in which the image signal is in the integer proportion between columns, a charge sharing circuit of a driver (a gate driver or a source driver) can be used to simplify the scaling process.
Fig. 2 is a schematic structural diagram of a charge sharing circuit according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in fig. 2, where a horizontal direction is a scan line, and a vertical direction is a data line, a charge sharing circuit of a driver (Source driver Source IC or Gate driver Gate IC) in the embodiment of the present disclosure refers to connecting a plurality of data lines or a plurality of scan lines (in fig. 4, each 2 data lines or each 2 scan lines are connected as an example, a curve between each 2 data lines or each 2 scan lines represents a connection line between each group of 2 data lines or each group of 2 scan lines), when a plurality of data lines are connected, two columns of pixels can share a data signal provided by the same data line, so that two columns of pixels display the same data; when a plurality of scanning lines are connected, the two rows of pixels can share the data signals provided by the same data line after being simultaneously opened, so that the two rows of pixels can display the same data. It is understood that the integer-scale scaling process means that the scale before and after scaling is an integer.
Fig. 3 is a schematic flow chart of a driving method for increasing a refresh rate of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, and as shown in fig. 3, the driving method for increasing the refresh rate of the display panel according to the embodiment of the present disclosure includes:
s1, the display panel receives the original image signal of the first resolution and the first refresh rate sent by the front-end device, wherein the first resolution is not greater than the resolution of the display panel.
The front-end device is a system-on-chip SOC and a timing control chip TCON which transmit image data to the display panel.
It should be noted that, since the physical resolution of the display panel determines the maximum resolution that can support the display, the embodiment of the present application is directed to increasing the refresh rate of the original image signal with a resolution no greater than the resolution of the display panel. The physical resolution of the display panel refers to the number of pixels in each row and the number of pixels in each column of the display panel.
S2, reducing the resolution of the original image signal from the first resolution to the second resolution, and increasing the refresh rate of the original image signal from the first refresh rate to the second refresh rate to obtain a display image signal of the second resolution and the second refresh rate, wherein the number of pixels in each row in the first refresh rate is V times the number of pixels in each row in the second resolution, and/or the number of pixels in each column in the first resolution is G times the number of pixels in each column in the second resolution, and both V and G are positive integers greater than 1.
It should be noted that, on the premise of not increasing the data transmission amount, the resolution of the original image signal and the refresh rate are in an inverse relationship, that is, the lower the resolution, the higher the refresh rate; since the higher the resolution is, the lower the refresh rate is, the higher the refresh rate of the original image signal is, the lower the resolution of the original image signal can be.
Specifically, the first resolution of the original signal image is reduced to the second resolution to increase the first refresh rate of the original signal image to the second refresh rate, thereby obtaining the display image signal of the second resolution and the second refresh rate actually provided to the display panel.
In addition, the original image signal is scaled by an integer ratio, that is, the number of pixels in each row in the first refresh rate is limited to be V times the number of pixels in each row in the second resolution, and/or the number of pixels in each column in the first resolution is G times the number of pixels in each column in the second resolution, and V and G are positive integers greater than 1.
And S3, dividing each V column data line of the display panel from the 1 st column data line into one group and connecting each group of V column data lines together, and/or dividing each G row scanning line of the display panel from the 1 st row scanning line into one group and connecting each group of G rows scanning lines together.
Specifically, since the resolution is reduced when the refresh rate is increased so as not to increase the data transmission amount, the resolution (second resolution) of the display image signal is smaller than the resolution of the display panel, and thus the display image signal cannot be directly displayed in the display panel, in the embodiment of the present application, each V column data line of the display panel from the 1 st column data line is divided into one group by the charge sharing circuit of the source driver, and each V column data line group is connected together, and/or each G row scanning line of the display panel from the 1 st row scanning line is divided into one group by the charge sharing circuit of the gate driver, and each G row scanning line group is connected together.
And S4, correspondingly inputting each column of data signals of the image display signals to each group or each data line of the display panel, so that the original image signals are displayed in the display panel at the first resolution and the second refresh rate according to the display image signals.
Specifically, when the number of pixels in each row in the first refresh rate is V times of the number of pixels in each row in the second resolution, dividing each V-column data line of the display panel starting from the 1 st column data line into one group and connecting each group of V-column data lines together, and at this time, correspondingly inputting each column of data signals of image display signals to each group of data lines of the display panel, so that the pixels driven by each group of data lines display the same data; and when the number of the pixel points of each row in the first resolution is G times of the number of the pixel points of each row in the second resolution, dividing each G rows of scanning lines of the display panel starting from the 1 st row of scanning lines into a group and connecting each group of G rows of scanning lines together, and correspondingly inputting each row of data signals of image display signals into each data line of the display panel at the moment to enable the pixels driven by each group of scanning lines to display the same data, so that the original image signals are displayed in the display panel at the first resolution and the second refresh rate according to the display image signals, namely, the original image signals are displayed in the display panel from the first refresh rate to the second refresh rate.
According to the driving method, the driver and the display device for improving the refresh rate of the display panel, provided by the embodiment of the application, on the premise that the data transmission quantity is not improved, when a signal image with the resolution not larger than that of the display panel is received, the resolution of the signal image is reduced and then the signal image is expanded to the display image with the resolution of the display panel, so that the refresh rate of an original image signal is improved and then the signal image is normally displayed in the display panel. The expanding of the original image signals with reduced resolution to the resolution of the display panel is accomplished by a charge sharing circuit of a driver (a source driver and/or a gate driver), the charge sharing circuit divides data lines and/or scanning lines of the display panel into a plurality of groups, and after each group of data lines and/or each group of scanning lines are connected, the same column of data signals corresponding to each group of data lines in the original image signals with reduced resolution are respectively input to each group of data lines.
Based on the above embodiment, if the resolution of the display panel is m × n, where m and n are positive integers, the driving method for increasing the refresh rate of the display panel may include:
the display panel receives an original image signal which is sent by a front-end device and has a first resolution of m × n and a first refresh rate;
reducing the first resolution of the original image signal from m × n to k × n to obtain a display image signal with a second resolution k × n and a second refresh rate, wherein the second refresh rate is m/k times the first refresh rate, k is a positive integer, and m/k is G;
dividing each G columns of data lines of the display panel from the 1 st column of data lines into one group and connecting each group of G columns of data lines together;
sequentially inputting a 1 st column data signal to a k th column data signal of a display image signal to the 1 st to k th group data lines of the display panel respectively, so that pixels driven by each group of data lines display the same data, and displaying the original image signal in the display panel at a first resolution and a second refresh rate.
For example, where m is 3840, n is 2160, k is 1920, G is m/k is 2, the first refresh rate is 120Hz, the second refresh rate is 240Hz, that is, the resolution of the display panel is 3840 2160, the display panel receives the original image signal with the resolution of 3840 2160@120Hz, the resolution of the original image signal is reduced from 3840 2160 to 1920 2160, the refresh rate of the original image signal is increased from 120Hz to 240Hz, so as to obtain a display image signal with the resolution of 1920 2160@240Hz, then the display panel is divided into 1920 groups from the 1 st data line, each 2 columns of data lines, so as to divide 3820 data lines of the display panel into 1920 groups, each 2 columns of data lines are connected together by using a charge sharing circuit, then the 1 st group to the 1920 th group of data lines of the display image signal are respectively connected to the 1 st row to the 1920 th row of data lines, so as to make the pixels of the same group display image signal at the same time, finally, the original image signal is displayed in the display panel at 3840 × 2160@240Hz, so that the refresh rate of the display panel is increased from 120Hz to 240 Hz.
Alternatively, based on the above embodiment, if the resolution of the display panel is m × n, where m and n are positive integers, the driving method for increasing the refresh rate of the display panel may include:
the display panel receives an original image signal which is sent by a front-end device, wherein the first resolution is m x n and the first refresh rate is;
reducing the first resolution of the original image signal from m × n to m × j to obtain a display image signal with a second resolution of m × j and a second refresh rate, wherein the second refresh rate is n/j times of the first refresh rate, j is a positive integer, and n/j is V;
dividing each V-row scanning line of the display panel from the 1 st row scanning line into one group and connecting each group of V-row scanning lines together;
the 1 st column data line to the m th column data line of the display panel are respectively and sequentially input with the 1 st column data signal to the m th column data signal of the display image signal, so that the pixels driven by each row of scanning lines display the same data, and the original image signal is displayed in the display panel at a first resolution and a second refresh rate.
For example, m 3840, n 2160, j 1080, V n/j 2, the first refresh rate is 120Hz, the second refresh rate is 240Hz, i.e. the resolution of the display panel is 3840 2160, the display panel receives the original image signal with the resolution of 3840 2160@120Hz, the resolution of the original image signal is reduced from 3840 2160 to 3840 1080, the refresh rate of the original image signal is increased from 120Hz to 240Hz, thereby obtaining a display image signal with the resolution of 3840 1080@240Hz, then the display panel is divided into one group from the 1 st row scanning line, every 2 rows of scanning lines, thereby dividing the 2160 rows of scanning lines of the display panel into 1080 groups, each group of 2 rows of scanning lines are connected together by using the charge sharing circuit, then the 1 st to 3840 th data lines of the display image signal are respectively connected to the 1 st to 3840 th data lines, thereby the same data of each group is displayed at the same time of scanning of the same pixel, the original image signal is displayed in the display panel at 3840 × 2160@240Hz, so that the refresh rate of the display panel is increased from 120Hz to 240 Hz.
Or, based on the foregoing embodiment, if the resolution of the display panel is m × n, where m and n are positive integers, the driving method for increasing the refresh rate of the display panel may include:
the display panel receives an original image signal which is sent by a front-end device, wherein the first resolution is m x n and the first refresh rate is;
reducing the first resolution of the original image signal from m × n to k × j to obtain a display image signal with a second resolution k × j and a second refresh rate which is (m/k) × (n/j) times the first refresh rate, wherein k and j are positive integers, and m/k is G, and n/j is V;
