Fig. 1 illustrates a flow chart of a method of controlling a virtual set-top box according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
As shown in fig. 1, the control method of the virtual set-top box includes steps S110 to S130. In some embodiments, the control method of the virtual set-top box is performed by the cloud client.
In step S110, a UI (User Interface) stream from the virtual set-top box is received. For example, the virtual set-top box is distributed by a cloud server. One cloud server may support a plurality of virtual set-top boxes. In some embodiments, a display interface of a template deployed on an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) system of an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is used to provide a display of information such as posters, Program listings, on-demand details, and the like.
In some embodiments, the IPTV client process in the virtual set top box triggers the virtual machine to perform login authentication operation with the IPTV service platform through the network of the cloud server, and the virtual machine accesses the IPTV service platform through authentication operation to display corresponding IPTV service information to the user. And then, the cloud client inquires EPG server information and IPTV session token information stored in the virtual set top box.
After a user accesses an IPTV service environment through a cloud client, the user can browse program information, play various programs such as live broadcast, On-Demand broadcast, TVOD (television On Demand), and the like, when the user triggers the play of a type of film source, the virtual machine transmits URL (Uniform Resource Locator) information to be played to the cloud client, the cloud client is connected with a media server, corresponding media stream information is pulled, the video playing operation is carried out through a decoder of the cloud client, meanwhile, the cloud client superposes UI stream information in the virtual machine On the upper layer of a media stream in real time, the superposition of UI and the media stream is realized, the superposed images are consistent with the use effect of a pure physical end set-top box, and consistent user experience is achieved.
In step S120, it is detected whether a UI operation exists within a first designated time by the user and whether a UI stream from the virtual set-top box is changed within a second designated time. In some embodiments, the first specified time and the second specified time are both 5 minutes. In other embodiments, the first specified time and the second specified time may be different.
In step S130, when the user does not have a UI operation within the first designated time and the UI stream from the virtual set-top box does not change within the second designated time, a suspend operation is performed on the virtual set-top box. For example, the UI operation is a key operation. In some embodiments, the virtual set top box may continuously send 264 the stream to the cloud client in case the UI stream changes. For example, if the stream of 264 is P frame data and P frame data is not received within the second designated time, it means that the UI stream from the virtual set-top box has not changed within the second designated time.
In some embodiments, performing the suspension operation on the virtual set-top box comprises: and sending a suspension instruction to the virtual set-top box through the signaling channel so as to trigger the virtual set-top box to execute suspension operation on the virtual set-top box. For example, a particular process that triggers the virtual set-top box performs a suspend operation on the virtual set-top box.
In some embodiments, performing the suspension operation on the virtual set-top box further comprises: and taking over the heartbeat message sent by the virtual set top box to the video service platform. For example, the heartbeat message is sent by a video service component of the virtual set top box to a video service platform. In some embodiments, the heartbeat message is a message assembly of the EPG server IP information and token information. Under normal conditions, heartbeat messages are sent out by the browser through the template, after the virtual set top box is clouded, the browser is in the virtual set top box, and therefore the heartbeat messages are also sent out by the virtual set top box. After the virtual set top box is suspended, a browser in the virtual set top box is also in a suspended state and cannot execute instructions, and in order to enable an EPG server of an IPTV service platform to consider that the set top box is online, the set top box needs to be switched to a cloud client to send heartbeat messages, namely, the taking over operation of the heartbeat messages is completed.
The video service platform comprises an IPTV service platform. For example, the IPTV service platform includes an EAS (Emergency Alert Server), an EPG, and other network element systems.
In some embodiments, the method for controlling a virtual set-top box further comprises the steps of:
firstly, under the condition that the virtual set-top box is in a suspended state, whether a user triggers UI operation or whether the playing state of a video changes is detected. For example, the play status includes the end of play and an error in play.
And then, under the condition that the user triggers UI operation or the playing state of the video changes, executing recovery operation on the virtual set top box in the suspended state.
In some embodiments, performing the resume operation on the virtual set top box in the suspended state comprises: and sending a recovery instruction to the virtual set-top box through the signaling channel so as to trigger the virtual set-top box to execute recovery operation on the virtual set-top box in the suspended state.
In some embodiments, the method for controlling a virtual set-top box further comprises: and under the condition that the user triggers the UI operation or the playing state of the video changes, sending the key value of the UI operation triggered by the user or the changed playing state to the virtual set top box.
In some embodiments, after performing the resume operation on the virtual set-top box in the suspended state, the method for controlling the virtual set-top box further includes: and receiving the UI stream generated by the virtual set top box according to the key value or the changed playing state. For example, the UI stream generated according to the changed playback state is UI presentation information. And the player is used for prompting the user to carry out the next operation according to the changed playing state.
In some embodiments, after performing the resume operation on the virtual set-top box in the suspended state, the method further includes: and stopping taking over the heartbeat message sent by the virtual set top box to the video service platform.
In some embodiments, the method for controlling a virtual set-top box further comprises the steps of:
first, a media stream of a media server is received. For example, the media server is a system of the CDN, and directly provides services of the codestream data.
Then, the UI stream is decoded to obtain a decoded UI stream.
And finally, overlapping the decoded UI stream and the media stream and displaying. For example, the decoded UI stream is superimposed on an upper layer of the media stream, so that the decoded UI stream and the media stream are superimposed.
In some embodiments, in a VSTB (Virtual Set-Top Box) mode, the Virtual Set-Top Box at the cloud end only generates a UI stream, and the live and on-demand media streams viewed by the user are directly pulled from the media server by the Set-Top Box at the physical end without passing through the Virtual Set-Top Box at the cloud end. The URL information of the media stream required by the cloud client to play is acquired from the EPG by a template carried by a browser in the virtual set top box, and the virtual set top box acquires the URL and then sends the URL to a physical set top box, namely the cloud client.
For example, a live small video is played at the top left corner of a home page of the template, column recommendation is performed at other positions, two videos are simultaneously displayed at a physical end at the moment, one video is a virtual machine-sent UI stream, the other video is a small video stream, and the videos need to be simultaneously displayed for a user, so that the UI stream and the small video stream need to be overlapped and played simultaneously, and the user can see both the interface of the template and the live small video. The same is true for full-screen playing, but at this time, the live stream is full-screen, the progress bar, the play control button and the like of the UI stream are only displayed on the lower part of the screen, and the progress bar, the play control button and the like have transparency information and can be directly superposed on the live background stream.
Therefore, when the user plays in a full screen mode, the user generally does not operate the set top box, the virtual machine at the cloud end can be suspended at the moment, the path of UI stream has no data change, the user does not need to see the UI stream, the virtual machine can be quickly recovered once the user presses a key to continue to provide the picture of the UI stream to the physical end as long as the physical end set top box normally plays the path of video stream of the CDN;
according to the control method of the virtual set top box, the virtual set top box which accords with the detection result is hung, the CPU use load of the server is reduced, and the running number of the virtual set top boxes of the server is increased, so that the number of the virtual set top boxes supported by a single server is increased, the utilization rate of server resources is increased, and the no-load waste of the virtual set top box resources is avoided.
In addition, the technology of the virtualization set top box increases the deployment cost of the server side, and increases the number of users served by a single server by increasing the number of virtual set top boxes supported by the single server, thereby reducing the cost of the single user. The method and the device can be applied to various video service platforms and have better universality.
The method is applied to IPTV service scenes, the CPU occupancy rate of the corresponding cloud server virtualization process can be close to 0 through virtual machine suspension operation, and compared with the CPU occupancy rate of about 1-5% when the cloud server virtualization process is not suspended, a lot of precious cloud server resources can be saved, one complete CPU resource can be saved when 20-30 users enter a suspension state, and the utilization rate of the server resources is greatly improved.

And through the authentication operation of login authentication, the virtual set top box accesses the video service platform and displays the video service information corresponding to the user. For example, in a case that the video service platform is an IPTV service platform, the cloud client may query, from the virtual set top box, stored EPG server information and IPTV session token information.
