Detailed Description
The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are only a part of the embodiments of the present invention, and not all of the embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
In a conventional means, the construction of the overcurrent protection chip and the peripheral matching resistors of the overcurrent protection chip is specific to a specific server system, once the configuration of the server system is adjusted and changed, the original overcurrent protection point is changed, the constructed overcurrent protection chip is not suitable any more, hardware adjustment can be performed on the whole overcurrent protection part again, the adjustment needs manual operation, and the operation is time-consuming. The method and the device utilize a Power Management Bus (PMBUS) interface to adjust the setting parameters of the over-current protection chip in real time according to the configuration information, solve the problem that the setting of hardware must be adjusted in the prior over-current protection, lead the modification of over-current protection points to be quicker and more labor-saving, improve the universality of the over-current protection chip by the effect of dynamic adjustment, and enlarge the application range of different systems.
The embodiment of the invention discloses a control method of an overcurrent protection chip, which is shown in figure 1 and comprises the following steps:
s1: acquiring configuration information of a server system;
it can be understood that the configuration information of the server system is different, and the corresponding overcurrent protection points are different, so that the configuration information of the server system can be obtained in real time in order to accurately match the overcurrent protection points of the server system, that is, the configuration information of the server system is obtained according to the preset frequency.
Specifically, configuration information of the server system, such as model, power and current conditions of the configuration device, is usually stored in a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU), and a set of configuration information in the Field replaceable Unit is an overall configuration of the entire server system. The configuration information in the field replaceable unit is updated each time a change adjustment occurs to the configuration device in the server system.
S2: determining an overcurrent protection point of the overcurrent protection chip according to the configuration information;
s3: acquiring a setting parameter of an overcurrent protection chip;
it can be understood that the overcurrent protection chip operates at a specific overcurrent protection point according to the set parameters which are set originally, and if the set parameters change, the overcurrent protection point also changes.
S4: judging whether the set parameters correspond to overcurrent protection points or not;
if yes, the steps S1 and S3 are continuously executed according to the preset frequency,
s5: if not, the set parameters are modified through the PMBUS interface, so that the overcurrent protection chip works according to the overcurrent protection points.
It can be understood that, according to the implementation of this embodiment, the setting parameter of the overcurrent protection chip may be modified through an instruction, and the PMBUS interface exists in the higher-order overcurrent protection chip, which provides a technical basis for this embodiment, and besides the PMBUS interface, other modules that can adjust the setting parameter may also modify the setting parameter according to the manner in this embodiment, so as to achieve the purpose of enabling the overcurrent protection chip to operate according to the overcurrent protection point.
In general, an overcurrent protection point of an overcurrent protection chip is represented by a voltage protection paper or a current protection value, and besides the overcurrent protection chip, the size of the voltage protection paper or the current protection value is also related to a matching resistor at the periphery of the overcurrent protection chip, so if a setting parameter is modified, the hardware configuration of the overcurrent protection chip and the matching resistor at the periphery of the overcurrent protection chip need to be considered at the same time.
Specifically, this embodiment may be implemented by a BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) of the server system, where the BMC is connected to the field replaceable unit through an I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) to obtain configuration information of the server system, and the BMC is further connected to the overcurrent protection chip to obtain a setting parameter thereof and determine whether the setting parameter corresponds to an overcurrent protection point of the configuration information, and if not, the BMC modifies the setting parameter on a PMBUS interface of the overcurrent protection chip.
Further, before the step S1 of obtaining the configuration information of the server system, the method further includes:
when the server system is started, the overcurrent protection chip is enabled so that the overcurrent protection chip works according to the initial overcurrent protection point.
It can be understood that, before the overcurrent protection point is dynamically adjusted in real time, a preset initial overcurrent protection point is needed as protection for the server system during the startup period, the initial overcurrent protection point may generally select the maximum overcurrent protection point of the overcurrent protection chip, or select the maximum overcurrent protection point of the configuration information corresponding to the highest configuration of the server system, and the overcurrent protection chip enabled under the preset condition will not generate the situation that the overcurrent protection point is too low to directly trigger the server system during startup, and can also protect the server system to a certain extent, and certainly, the protection at this time is not accurate enough, so steps S1 to S5 are needed to perform corresponding adjustment to achieve a more accurate and reliable effect. For example, when the server system is configured at an original timing, the current protection value of the overcurrent protection point is 75A, so that the current protection value of the initial overcurrent protection point of the overcurrent protection chip is preset to be 75A, but a certain module is cancelled in the actual shipment configuration, so that the current protection value of the overcurrent protection needs to be reduced to 69.8A, the server system is started up, the overcurrent protection chip is started to work according to 75A, then the actual configuration information of the server system is obtained, the current protection value of the overcurrent protection point is determined to be 69.8A, so that the setting parameters of the overcurrent protection chip are modified, the overcurrent protection chip works according to the current protection value of 69.8A, and the effect of dynamically adjusting the overcurrent protection point according to the actual configuration of the server system is achieved.
The application discloses a control method of an overcurrent protection chip, which comprises the following steps: acquiring configuration information of a server system; determining an overcurrent protection point of an overcurrent protection chip according to the configuration information; acquiring a setting parameter of the overcurrent protection chip; judging whether the set parameter corresponds to the overcurrent protection point; and if not, modifying the setting parameters through a PMBUS interface so that the overcurrent protection chip works according to the overcurrent protection point. According to the method and the device, the PMBUS interface is utilized, the setting parameters of the over-current protection chip are adjusted in real time according to the configuration information, the problem that the hardware setting of the original over-current protection must be adjusted is solved, the modification of an over-current protection point is quicker and more labor-saving, the universality of the over-current protection chip is improved due to the effect of dynamic adjustment, and the application ranges of different systems are expanded.

and the action module 5 is used for modifying the set parameters through a PMBUS interface when the set parameters do not correspond to the overcurrent protection points so that the overcurrent protection chip works according to the overcurrent protection points.
