Description

Detection system and detection method for display panel
Technical Field
The embodiment of the invention relates to a display panel detection technology, in particular to a detection system and a detection method of a display panel.
Background
After the display panel (e.g., an oled display panel) is manufactured, quality inspection is usually performed to ensure that the product is a good product.
When the display panel is subjected to display detection, a driving chip is not usually bound, so that the detection line of the conventional display panel firstly lights the display panel through a display driving device (module), and then judges whether the display panel has a dead pixel (defective sub-pixel) according to a picture displayed by the display panel. If the brightness of each sub-pixel is within the standard brightness range (i.e. the brightness of the whole display panel is uniform), the position of the dead pixel can be determined more accurately.
However, if the luminance uniformity of the display panel is poor (i.e. the luminance in the display area has a significant difference, the local luminance is high, and the local luminance is low) due to the defect of the display panel, it is impossible to accurately determine whether there is a dead pixel in the over-bright or over-dark area, which results in a decrease in the accuracy of the detection result.

Illustratively, fig. 2 is a schematic view of an actual scene of a first inspection station and a second inspection station in the inspection system shown in fig. 1, and referring to fig. 2, the first inspection station and the second inspection station are two inspection stations in an inspection pipeline of a display panel, and the display panel is sequentially subjected to display inspection at the first inspection station and the second inspection station, for example, defective sub-pixel inspection. Illustratively, the first detection station and the second detection station are provided with display screens (shown as A and B in FIG. 2), and the display condition of the display panel can be observed through the display screens so as to detect the number and the positions of dead pixels.
The first inspection station 1 performs display inspection on the display panel through a camera module 12 (e.g., a camera) and an image processing module 13 (e.g., a computer). Specifically, after the first display driving module 11 drives the display panel to display a picture, the image capturing module 12 can capture the picture, and the image processing module 13 can preliminarily determine the location of the dead pixel after analyzing the captured picture. After that, the second detection station 2 can be used for further detailed detection by detection personnel, so as to avoid the misjudgment caused by the automatic detection of the equipment at the first detection station 1.
Furthermore, in the embodiment of the present invention, two inspection stations are provided, the first inspection station 1 may further generate identification information (bad name) for identifying brightness information of the display panel by using the image processing module 13, and send the identification information to the second display driving module in the second inspection station 2 by using the server, and the second display driving module 21 may select a suitable driving voltage according to the identification information, so as to ensure that an inspector performs inspection under the condition that the brightness of the display panel is uniform, thereby avoiding that whether a dead pixel exists in an over-bright or over-dark area due to non-uniform brightness of the display panel, and further improving accuracy of an inspection result. The above is the core idea of the embodiment of the present invention, and the following describes in detail the technical solution of the embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.
When the first display driving module 11 drives the display panel to display the first image, if the brightness of the first image is not uniform, the image processing module 13 cannot accurately determine whether there is a dead pixel in the over-bright or over-dark area. To this end, the embodiment of the present invention analyzes the image information transmitted by the camera module 12 through the image processing module 13 to generate the identification information indicating the luminance information of the display panel, and transmits the identification information to the server 3. Further, the server 3 may send the identification information to the second display driving module, so that the second display driving module drives the display panel to display the second image with better brightness uniformity according to the identification information.
Specifically, the identification information includes a defective name for identifying luminance information of the display panel, and it is known from the identification information (defective name) whether the luminance of the sub-pixel (or each region) in the display panel is higher, lower, or normal than the standard luminance range. Therefore, after the second display driving module receives the identification information, a proper driving voltage value can be selected according to the identification information to drive the display panel to display the second picture, so that the display area with the brightness lower than the standard brightness range and the display area with the brightness higher than the standard brightness range are compensated, and the brightness uniformity of the whole display panel is improved. Therefore, when the detection personnel detect the display panel according to the second picture, the detection personnel can detect the display panel under the picture with uniform brightness, thereby avoiding the situation that whether dead pixels exist in an over-bright or over-dark area or not which cannot be accurately judged due to uneven brightness of the display panel, and improving the accuracy of the detection result. It can be understood that a smaller difference between the average luminance of the plurality of sub-pixels and the luminance of each sub-pixel indicates a better luminance uniformity of the display panel.
It should be noted that the identification information may include luminance information of the sub-pixel with normal luminance, or may not include luminance information of the sub-pixel with normal luminance, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
It should be noted that "first" and "second" in the embodiments of the present invention are not essential and are merely used for distinguishing.
The embodiment of the invention generates image information by shooting a first picture of the display panel through the camera module at the first detection station, and sends the image information to the image processing module, so that the image processing module generates identification information according to the image information, and transmits the identification information to the server, transmits the identification information to the second display driving module by using the server, since the identification information includes a bad name identifying the luminance information of the display panel, the second display driving module may select an appropriate driving voltage according to the identification information, so as to make up the deficiency of the first picture and drive the display panel to display the second picture with better brightness uniformity, therefore, the position of the dead pixel can be accurately judged according to the second picture at the second detection station, the situation that the position of the dead pixel cannot be accurately judged due to uneven brightness of the display panel is avoided, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.
On the basis of the above embodiment, fig. 3 is a schematic structural diagram of another display panel detection system provided in the embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 3, optionally, the second detection station 2 further includes a brightness detection module 22; the brightness detection module 22 is in communication connection with the image processing module 13; before the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are both used for driving the display panel to display a first picture; the brightness detection module 22 is configured to detect a brightness value of a sub-pixel in the display panel in the first picture, and send the brightness value to the image processing module 13; the image processing module 13 is configured to determine a pixel value of a sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information, and determine a corresponding relationship between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and a brightness value of the sub-pixel according to the pixel value and the brightness value; in the detection stage of the display panel, the image processing module 13 is configured to determine the brightness value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information and the corresponding relationship, and generate the identification information according to the brightness value and the standard brightness range.
Since it is difficult for the image processing module 13 to directly determine the luminance value of the sub-pixel in the display panel from the image information sent by the camera module 12, and only the pixel value of the sub-pixel can be obtained, in this embodiment, the corresponding relationship between the pixel value and the luminance value of the sub-pixel is obtained before the detection stage and stored in the image processing module 13, so that the image processing module 13 can determine the pixel value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information in the detection stage, and further determine the luminance value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the pixel value and the corresponding relationship between the pixel value and the luminance value. Then, by comparing the brightness value with the standard brightness range, it can be determined whether the brightness of the sub-pixel is higher, lower or normal, and the above-mentioned identification information is generated.
Specifically, the brightness detection module 22 is arranged at the second detection station 2, and the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 both drive the display panel to display the first picture, so that the image information of the display panel under the first picture can be acquired by the camera module 12 at the first detection station 1, and the image information is sent to the image processing module 13; the brightness detection module 22 in the second detection station 2 can obtain the brightness values of the sub-pixels of the display panel in the first picture, and send the brightness values of the sub-pixels to the image processing module 13; the image processing module 13 may obtain the pixel value of the sub-pixel after analyzing the image information, and further obtain the corresponding relationship between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel.
Fig. 4 is a schematic structural diagram of another display panel detection system according to an embodiment of the present invention, and the structures of the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are further detailed. Referring to fig. 4, optionally, the first display driving module 11 includes a first power supply unit 111, a first driving unit 112, and a first control unit 113; the first power supply unit 111 is electrically connected to the display panel and configured to provide a first power supply to the display panel; the first driving unit 112 is electrically connected with the first control unit 113 and the display panel, respectively; the first control unit 113 is configured to control the first driving unit 112 to output a first driving voltage to the display panel to drive the display panel to display a first image; the second display driving module 21 includes a second power supply unit 121, a second driving unit 122, and a second control unit 123; the second power supply unit 121 is electrically connected to the display panel, and is configured to provide a second power supply to the display panel; the second driving unit 122 is electrically connected with the second control unit 123 and the display panel, respectively, and the second control unit 123 is in communication connection with the server 3; the second control unit 123 is configured to receive the identification information, and control the second driving unit 122 to output a second driving voltage to the display panel according to the identification information, so that the display panel displays a second picture.
Exemplarily, referring to fig. 4, the first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 are electrically connected to a PCB (printed circuit board) in the display panel, respectively. The first display driving module 11 and the second display driving module 21 achieve the purpose of driving the display panel to display pictures by controlling the work of the gate driving circuit and the data driving circuit. Specifically, the first power supply unit 111 is used for providing an operating power supply (i.e., a first power supply) for the circuit on the PCB; the first driving unit 112 is used for providing a driving voltage required by the sub-pixel to emit light, such as a PVDD signal, a PVEE signal, a data signal, and the like, for the display panel; the first control unit 113 is used for controlling the first driving unit 112 to generate a certain driving voltage. The functions of the structures in the second display driving module 21 are the same, and are not described herein again.
It should be noted that the second control unit 123 needs to control the second driving unit 122 to output the second driving voltage according to the identification information sent by the server 3, so that the second driving voltage is a compensated driving voltage to compensate the brightness of the display panel, so that the brightness of the second picture is relatively uniform, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.
The first drive voltage (second drive voltage) is a generic term of a drive signal for driving the sub-pixels to emit light. In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, the display panel may adjust the luminance of the sub-pixels by using a pulse width modulation method, or may adjust the luminance of the sub-pixels by using a current driving method, which may be set by a person skilled in the art, and the embodiment of the present invention is not limited thereto.
With continued reference to fig. 4, optionally, the first control unit 113 is in communication connection with the server 3; the server 3 is also used to communicatively connect the first control unit 113 and the second control unit 123. So set up, the information interaction of the first inspection station of being convenient for and second inspection station makes detecting system more automatic and intelligent.
Based on the same inventive concept, an embodiment of the present invention further provides a detection method for a display panel, which is implemented by using the detection system provided in any of the above embodiments, and fig. 5 is a schematic flow chart of the detection method for a display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 5, the detection method includes the following steps:
s101, in the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display a first picture.
S102, the camera module shoots a first picture to generate image information, and the image information is input to the image processing module.
S103, the image processing module generates identification information according to the image information and sends the identification information to a server; the identification information includes a bad name for identifying luminance information of the display panel.
Specifically, the identification information (brightness information of the display panel) may represent a comparison result between the brightness of the display panel and the standard brightness range, and the identification information may include bad names that identify the high, low, and normal brightness of the display panel, or may only include bad names that identify the high and low brightness of the display panel, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
And S104, the server receives the identification information and sends the identification information to the second display driving module.
S105, the second display driving module drives the display panel to display a second picture according to the identification information so as to perform display detection on the display panel according to the second picture; the brightness uniformity of the second picture is greater than that of the first picture.
Specifically, the second display driving module can determine the brightness of the sub-pixels (or each area) in the display panel according to the identification information, and select a proper driving voltage value to drive the display panel to display the second picture, so that the compensation of the display area with the brightness lower than the standard brightness range and the display area with the brightness higher than the standard brightness range is realized, and the brightness uniformity of the whole display panel is improved.
According to the detection method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first picture of the display panel is shot through the camera module at the first detection station, the image information is generated and sent to the image processing module, the identification information for identifying the brightness of the display panel is generated through the image processing module and sent to the server, the identification information is sent to the second display driving module through the server, and the second display driving module is used for driving the display panel to display the second picture with better brightness uniformity according to the identification information, so that the position of the dead pixel can be accurately judged at the second detection station according to the second picture with more uniform brightness, the situation that the position of the dead pixel cannot be accurately judged due to uneven brightness of the display panel is avoided, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.
On the basis of the above embodiments, the following further refinements are made to the detection method of the display panel.
Fig. 6 is a schematic flowchart of another display panel detection method according to an embodiment of the present invention, which further details how the image processing module generates the identification information. Referring to fig. 6, the detection method of the display panel may include the steps of:
s201, before the detection stage of the display panel, the image processing module acquires the corresponding relation between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel.
As shown in fig. 3, the second inspection station further includes a brightness detection module, and the brightness detection module is in communication connection with the image processing module; the image processing module obtains the corresponding relationship between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel, and can be implemented by adopting the following steps:
before the detection stage of the display panel, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display a first picture; the camera module shoots a first picture to generate image information and inputs the image information to the image processing module; the second display driving module drives the display panel to display a first picture; the brightness detection module detects the brightness value of a sub-pixel in the display panel under the first picture and sends the brightness value to the image processing module; the image processing module determines the pixel value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information, and determines the corresponding relation between the pixel value of the sub-pixel and the brightness value of the sub-pixel according to the pixel value and the brightness value.
For example, before the detection stage, display detection may be performed on a plurality of display panels in advance to obtain a corresponding relationship between a pixel value of a sub-pixel and a brightness value of the sub-pixel, so as to ensure accuracy of the corresponding relationship.
By obtaining the corresponding relationship between the pixel value and the brightness value of the sub-pixel in advance, the image processing module is convenient to determine the brightness value of the sub-pixel according to the image information and the corresponding relationship in the detection stage, and further generate the identification information, which is described in detail in S204.

At this time, the first display driving module drives the display panel to display the first picture, which can be implemented by the following method: the first power supply unit provides a first power supply for the display panel, and the first control unit controls the first driving unit to output a first driving voltage to the display panel so as to drive the display panel to display a first picture.
And S203, the camera module shoots the first picture to generate image information and inputs the image information to the image processing module.
S204, the image processing module determines the pixel value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the image information, determines the brightness value of the sub-pixel in the display panel according to the pixel value and the corresponding relation, generates identification information according to the brightness value and the standard brightness range, and sends the identification information to the server.
Optionally, the identification information is generated according to the brightness value and the standard brightness range, and the following method may be adopted: the image processing module compares the brightness value with the standard brightness range, determines the first-class sub-pixels of which the brightness values are not in the standard brightness range, and generates identification information according to the brightness values of the first-class sub-pixels.
Therefore, only the bad name for identifying the brightness information of the first-class sub-pixel needs to be transmitted, so that the operation amount of the image processing module, the server and the second display driving module can be reduced, and the detection efficiency is improved.
Further optionally, the identification information is generated according to the luminance values of the first-class sub-pixels, and the method may be implemented as follows: the image processing module groups the first-class sub-pixels according to the difference value between the brightness value and the standard brightness range, the brightness value of the first-class sub-pixels in the same group and the difference value between the marked brightness range are in the same range, and the identification information corresponding to the first-class sub-pixels in different groups is different.
The first-class sub-pixels with the difference values of the brightness values and the standard brightness range in the same range are divided into the same group, the brightness level of the first-class sub-pixels can be divided according to the brightness deviation, the brightness information of the first-class sub-pixels in different groups is identified by different bad names, and therefore after the second display driving module obtains the identification information, the difference values of the brightness of different sub-pixels and the standard brightness range can be determined, and then the most appropriate driving voltage can be selected to drive the display panel, so that the brightness uniformity of the display panel can be further improved, and the accuracy of the detection result is improved.

As shown in fig. 4, the second display driving module includes a second power unit, a second driving unit and a second control unit, the second power unit is electrically connected to the display panel, the second driving unit is electrically connected to the second control unit and the display panel, respectively, and the second control unit is in communication connection with the server. At this time, the second display driving module drives the display panel to display the second picture according to the identification information, which can be implemented by the following method: the second power supply unit provides a second power supply for the display panel, and meanwhile, the second control unit receives the identification information and controls the second driving unit to output a second driving voltage to the display panel according to the identification information so as to drive the display panel to display a second picture.
