Detailed Description
The disclosed systems, methods, and devices include a grooming tool having a brush head on one side and a roll-on applicator on an opposite side. The rolling applicator side may include a rotatable head portion that may rotate on an axis parallel to the length of the brush. The rotatable head portion having the rolling applicator side may be attached via a joint extending from the brush body to the head and allowing a circular shape (e.g., a sphere or a sphere) to rotate around the joint. In some embodiments, the rotatable head may be any shape that allows for a rolling motion. The rotation of the rotatable head portion may be along the rotation axis and pivoting about the joint. In some embodiments, the rotatable head portion may provide a cooling material, such as Zamak. In this embodiment, the rotatable head portion may not provide any dispensing feature, but may provide an applicator that cools the skin. In other embodiments, the rotatable head portion may be stainless steel. The rotatable head portion may be used as a pre-applicator, wherein the bristled side of the brush may be used to apply a cosmetic or other cosmetic product.
Fig. 1 depicts a cosmetic tool 100 having a brush head 102 and a roll-on applicator 104. The brush head 102 may include a heel 106, a belly 108, and a toe 110. The head 102 may be of any shape to coat foundations, powders, concealer products, blushes, eye shadows, and the like. Various bristle lengths and materials of the head 102 may be used for different coatings. The brush head 102 may be attached to the handle 112 via a ferrule 114. The ferrule 114 may be made of plastic, nickel or chrome plated tin, aluminum, brass or copper alloys, and the like. In some embodiments, the ferrule 114 may be integrated into the handle 112. One or more crimps (crimps) and/or one or more adhesives may be used to secure the brush head 102, ferrule 114, and handle 112.
The brush head 102 may be secured to the handle 112 at a first end 116 of the handle. The roll coater 104 may be secured to the handle 112 at the second end 118 of the handle 112. The first end 116 of the handle 112 may be disposed distal to the second end 118 of the handle 112. The second end 118 of the handle 112 may include a flared end 120 to prevent a pinch point at the attachment point between the handle 112 and the roll coater 104. In some embodiments, the second end 118 of the handle 112 may be tapered. In other embodiments, the second end 118 of the handle 112 may have a relatively constant cross-section.
In some aspects of various embodiments, the roll-coater 104 may rotate 122 about an axis parallel to the length of the brush handle 112. The roll coater 104 may be attached via a joint extending from the brush handle 112 to the roll coater 104, allowing the ball to rotate about the joint. The rotation 122 of the roll coater 104 may be along only one axis and pivot about a joint. In one embodiment, the roll coater 104 may be arranged around the joint, as shown in fig. 3D. The nipple may be received by a hole disposed in the handle, as shown in fig. 3B. In some embodiments, the joint may be fixed to the roll coater 104 and rotated in the bore relative to the handle. In other embodiments, the joint may be secured in a hole in the handle such that the roll coater 104 rotates about the joint and the handle. The fitting may fit into the bore in the handle via a snap fit, a friction fit, and/or via an adhesive. In one embodiment, the joint may include an enlarged portion to fit in a corresponding enlarged portion in the bore in the shank. The roll-on applicator 104 may rotate when placed against a fixed surface (e.g., the face or neck region of a user) and move relative to the fixed surface. The roll coater 104 may have a rounded outer surface. The rolling applicator 104 may have an oval or circular cross-section to provide varying angles of contact with a surface (e.g., a user's skin).
In some embodiments, a cooling material, such as an alloy composed of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and/or copper, such as Zamak, may be disposed on the outer surface of the roll coater 104. In other embodiments, the outer surface of the roll coater 104 may be stainless steel. The roll-on applicator 104 does not provide any dispensing options, but can cool the skin. The roll applicator 104 may be used as a pre-applicator and the brush head 102 may then be used to apply a cosmetic or other cosmetic product.
In one embodiment of a cosmetic tool having a rolling applicator, the rolling applicator may have a smooth and gentle surface in the form of a convex curve, such that the rolling applicator may be an oval in the shape of an egg. In some embodiments, the egg-shaped ellipse approximates the "long" half of an elongated sphere, joining the "short" half of an approximately spherical ellipsoid, or even a somewhat flattened sphere. These portions join at the equator and share a main axis of rotational symmetry, as shown in the figures. One embodiment may provide a tear drop shaped rolling applicator with sharp edges, and wherein the ellipse is a figure made up of two pairs of arcs where two different radii have sharp edges at one end, however, in one example, the sharp edges may be hidden within the handle or handle of the cosmetic tool. In other embodiments, as described above.
Apparatus embodiments may include an assembly including a rotatable spreader or a roll spreader. The applicator may include an application surface configured to treat an area of a human body (e.g., skin). The applicator may further comprise at least one material having cooling properties such that the applicator may provide a cooling effect when the at least one material is in contact with human skin. The applicator may also be configured to have cooling characteristics such that when the application surface is in contact with the skin for an extended period of time, the temperature does not cause any damage to the skin. In addition, the applicator surface can be kept at a cool temperature during application, thereby maintaining a consistent temperature. In one example, the cosmetic or composition may be applied to the skin, for example, prior to use of the disclosed applicator, whereby the rolling motion of the rolling applicator over the skin may help to further smooth and/or disperse the applied cosmetic. In some embodiments, the rolling applicator may be used as a massaging device or tool to induce a relaxing or soothing effect on the skin contours, thereby providing a means to more easily smooth and/or disperse the applied cosmetic. That is, the rolling applicator is capable of applying a massaging and cooling effect (in some embodiments simultaneously) to the skin, facial contours, eye region, neck, or any area to which a cosmetic product is applied. Thus, the skin may benefit from the cooling effect imparted by the rolling applicator via the rolling motion to better absorb the cosmetic product.
In some embodiments, the cosmetic tool may include a handle, a rotatable or rolling applicator, and a brush head at opposite ends of the handle. Rolling applicators on opposite ends of the brush head can provide weight balance such that the cosmetic tool has a similar weight ratio between the two ends, thereby providing more effective control when held by a user than conventional brushes. That is, the user has more control over the cosmetic tool and is able to keep the cosmetic tool stable during application by having an equally distributed weight on the handle with the rolling applicator on one end and the brush head on the other end when the handle is in the user's hand. Therefore, the equal weight distribution of the cosmetic tool provides a higher level of high accuracy for the case where brushing or rolling is to be applied to the skin. For example, in the case of an equal weight distribution with a weight distribution written in x/y, where x is the weight percentage of one end and y is the weight percentage of the other end, having x close in weight to y provides a balance that controls the stroke momentum of the brush. Thus, the centroid, which is the distribution of mass in space, may be a unique feature on the cosmetic tool, at which point the weighted relative positional sums of the masses of the distribution are zero. In one embodiment, where the center of mass is as close as possible to the center of the cosmetic tool based on the evenly distributed weight of the two ends, the cosmetic tool provides control and lower linear and angular momentum when in use. Therefore, such weight distribution based on the beauty tool having the rolling applicator on the other end of the brush head allows the center of gravity of the body of the beauty tool to be a point around which the torque due to gravity is zero.
In one embodiment, the rolling applicator is mounted on the cosmetic tool to rotate about a fixed axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the applicator and roll over the skin in a direction coincident with the transverse axis (in cross-section) of the cosmetic tool. In an alternative embodiment, the rolling applicator may be mounted on the cosmetic tool so as to roll along both a linear path and a curved path that adjusts between positions as the cosmetic tool moves along the skin surface. That is, the cosmetic tool may apply a cosmetic product (e.g., foundation) to the skin of the face and/or neck of the user via the rolling applicator to create a smooth transition from one direction to another while being applied to smooth a particular portion of the face and/or neck.
Fig. 2A depicts a user using 200 the roll-on applicator 104 of the cosmetic tool 100 of fig. 1. The user may, for example, apply eye cream, concealer product or the like to the eye region 202 or a portion of the outer surface of cosmetic tool 100. The user may then move the rolling applicator 104 of the cosmetic tool 100 over the skin surface (e.g., eye region) 204, causing the rolling applicator 104 to rotate 122. The rolling applicator 104 provides a cooling sensation, which may cause the outer layer of skin in the eye region 202 to contract. The user may roll 122 the rolling applicator 104 over the eye region 204 or any other surface region of the skin. Although an eye region 204 is depicted, cosmetic tool 100 may be used on any portion of a user's face, neck, body, and/or skin.
Fig. 2B depicts the user of fig. 2A using 201 the brush head 102 of the beauty tool 100 of fig. 1. The user can rotate the cosmetic tool 102 to access the brush head 102 disposed adjacent the first side 116 of the handle. The user may use the brush head 102 to apply a foundation, concealer product, make-up, or the like. In some embodiments, a user may use a roll coater as shown in fig. 2A after using the brush head 102.
Fig. 3A depicts an assembled cosmetic tool 300 having an eye crimp brush head 102 and a rolling applicator 104. The cosmetic tool 300 may have a brush head 102 sized for use over an eye fold. The head 102 may be made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyester, nylon, hair, or the like. The cosmetic tool 300 may also have a ferrule 114 connecting the brush head 102 to the handle 112. The ferrule 114 may be made of aluminum, plastic, or the like. In some embodiments, the ferrule 114 may have a surface finish to achieve a smooth finish or matte finish. The handle may be made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), plastic, wood, metal, or the like. The roll coater 104 may be attached at the end of the handle 112 distal from the brush head 102. The roll coater 104 may be made of a zinc alloy, such as Zamak. In other embodiments, the roll coater 104 may be made of stainless steel.
By way of example and not limitation, the size of cosmetic tool 300 may be adjusted to suit different application needs and/or user preferences. In one embodiment, the length a of cosmetic tool 300 may be about 163 mm; the length B of the brush head 102 may be about 20 mm; the length C of the ferrule 114 may be about 35 mm; the length D of the handle 112 may be about 90 mm; the length E of the roll coater 104 may be about 18 mm; f may be about 50 mm; g may be about 25 mm; and H may be about 4 mm.
Fig. 3B depicts the handle 112 of the cosmetic tool 300 of fig. 3A. In one embodiment, the length D of the handle 112 may be about 90 mm; and the width I of the handle 112 may be about 8.5 mm. The handle 112 may include an aperture 302 to receive a nipple of a rolling applicator assembly, as shown in fig. 3D. In some embodiments, the handle 112 may have a tapered appearance over the length of the handle 112. The tapered handle 112 may allow for improved gripping by a user.
