Background
With the increasing emphasis on environmental protection, environmentally friendly power type secondary batteries are increasingly being applied to electric vehicles. Unlike secondary batteries for consumer electronics, power-type secondary batteries have higher requirements for energy density and cycle life. Silicon oxide has a high theoretical gram capacity as a negative electrode active material, which is several times that of a graphite-based negative electrode active material, compared to a conventional carbon material, and thus, it is expected to improve the energy density of a secondary battery using silicon oxide.
However, the silicon oxide has a poor cycle life, which causes deterioration of cycle performance of the secondary battery. Therefore, it is urgently required to develop a new anode active material for a secondary battery having both long cycle performance and high energy density.
