Background
When a driver operates a steering wheel, the steering engine helps the driver to reduce the effort during steering, and the purpose of easily and conveniently driving a vehicle is achieved.
The steering engine has the working principle that when a driver applies torque to a steering wheel, the torque is transmitted to a steering engine gear through a steering column and applies acting force to a steering engine rack meshed with the steering engine gear, so that the steering engine rack makes linear motion and drives a steering pull rod, and finally, a wheel hub is driven by the pull rod to rotate, so that the deflection motion of a tire is realized.
However, a rack gap is generally generated due to influences such as actual machining accuracy, assembly, and wear after a long time use. Conventionally, a rack clearance compensation mechanism is provided in a steering gear so that a rack clearance of the steering gear can be adjusted.
As shown in fig. 1, a conventional steering rack backlash compensation mechanism is mounted on a steering housing 10, and a coil spring 6 is provided at one end of a support base 8 for providing a preload force. The other end of the spiral spring 6 is connected with the screw plug 5, and when the locking nut 4 arranged at the tail end of the screw plug 5 is screwed, the gap between the teeth of the steering engine is fixed; when the lock nut 4 is loosened and the plug screw 5 is adjusted, the plug screw 5 compresses the coil spring 6, and the coil spring 6 presses the rack 1 through the support base 8 to realize the compensation of the rack clearance.
However, after the existing steering gear rack clearance compensation mechanism with pretightening force provided by a single spiral spring works for a long time, the compensation effect is gradually reduced, the rack clearance of the steering gear is increased more and more, and then abnormal sound is generated, so that not only the performance of the steering gear is influenced, but also the comfort of a driver when the driver drives a vehicle is influenced.
