Description
Technical Field
The object of the present invention is to provide a device for guiding and supporting a furniture door that is open with a downward flap, more particularly, a device that is suitable for supporting the door when it is open (i.e., when it is actually horizontal) and for allowing the door to open and close gently.
Background
It is known that in furniture of the cupboard, shoe cupboard, bathroom cupboard or cupboard type and similar furniture accessories provided with an openable door of the flap type, in particular of the flap-down type, the opening and closing of said door is normally carried out by a hinge mechanism provided as a connecting means between the furniture frame and the door itself, which allows the flap to open.
The user's hand action is used to perform the opening operation on the door and to continue manually holding the door throughout the closing process.
However, it is possible that the force exerted by the user on the door is too great, or that the user does not grasp or hold the door, causing a variable, intense impact of the door on the furniture frame, or that the door itself is not completely closed, which may cause wear or damage to the furniture, and may create safety and/or visually unaesthetic problems, etc., while the door remains in the semi-open state.
To avoid this drawback, some hinge connections are of the damped type or provided with guide means, which comprise, for example, a gas spring suitable for facilitating or damping the opening and closing movement of the door, or, more generally, with a mechanism for gently returning the door to the closed position. Other constructive solutions use hinge mechanisms provided with a lever or hinge system (for example a hinge quadrilateral mechanism) provided with a damped adjustment device for controlling the opening/closing movement of the door.
However, these constructive solutions have at the same time some important drawbacks related to their constructive complexity, to the presence of the lever causing excessive bulk, and to the associated costs.
Other relatively structurally simple solutions provide for the guiding of the door opening/closing movement by means of cables which come out from a supporting structure attached to the frame of the furniture and are connected to the door (see for example applications EP 1691016 a1 and EP 3027833 of the same applicant).
In particular, EP 3027833 provides a toothed wheel on which the cable is wound, which produces a roto-translational movement on the belt profile during the opening and closing of the door.
The applicant has noticed that the structure and assembly of such devices are relatively complex and not entirely reliable.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is therefore to improve the device of application EP 3027833.
More specifically, the object of the invention is to make such a device easier to construct and easy to assemble.
It is a further object of the invention to make such a device more reliable in use.
The above and other objects are achieved by a device according to the present invention having the features of the appended claim 1.
The dependent claims disclose advantageous embodiments of the invention.
In particular, the device for guiding and supporting a door of a piece of furniture opened with downward flaps according to the invention comprises a container body which can be mounted on the inner surface of a shoulder of a furniture frame, and a fastening element which is fixed to the inner surface of the door and is operatively connected to the container body by means of a cable which is wound around a toothed wheel meshing with a rack, the toothed wheel having a fixed axis, and the rack being provided on a slider which can be translated towards or with the aid of a spring so as to unwind or wind the cable during the opening or closing of the door, respectively, wherein the container body consists of two half-shells which enclose between them the toothed wheel mounted on a hub, wherein the slider consists of two half-sliders, the two half-slides each carry a half-rack and partially house the toothed wheel, which carries on two opposite end faces around the hub a respective toothed half-pinion, which meshes with the half-rack.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENT (S) OF INVENTION
With reference to the figures, the device according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a casing or container body 10 having a substantially rectangular shape, which casing or container body 10 is attached on the inner surface of a lateral shoulder 12 of a furniture frame 14, a cable 11 passing out of the casing or container body 10 and engaging with a fastening element 13, wherein the fastening element 13 is firmly constrained to the inner surface of a door 16 that can be opened with downward flaps, and is attached to the furniture frame by at least one hinge (not shown in the figures).
The interior of the container body 10 houses the actuating mechanism of the guiding device according to the invention, which is constituted by two half-shells 20 (shown in particular in fig. 5), the two half-shells 20 being substantially identical to each other, except for having internal complementary elements, so as to determine a complementary coupling and house the actuating mechanism or functional assembly of the device.
The half-shells 20 are made of aluminium or an aluminium alloy, a plastic material, or other material suitable for the purpose of the present invention.
In the lower part of the container body 10, a slider 30 is housed, the slider 30 being constituted by two substantially identical and symmetrical parts 31, said parts 31 being also referred to hereinafter as half-sliders, similarly to the half-shells 20 described above.
The two half-sliders 31 are fitted above with respective rack portions 32, the rack portions 32 also being referred to as half-racks.
When assembled, the slider 30 houses a spring 40, the two ends of the spring 40 being respectively attached to a pin 41 provided on one of the two half-sliders 32 and to a pin 42 provided inside one of the two half-shells 20. In the embodiment shown, the spring 40 works by stretching, which will be described in detail below, but it is evident that it is possible to work by compression by simply providing a different arrangement of the pin 41 and the pin 42, in particular by moving the pin 42 in the half-shell 20 on the side opposite to that shown.
Inside the slider 30 there is also housed a shock absorber or damper 50, the shock absorber or damper 50 having a stem 51 for the purposes described below, or alternatively an impact-resistant rubber gasket 52, the gasket 52 being suitable for being inserted onto the small side wall 43 having a central hole 44, wherein the central hole 44 is delimited at one end by a seat in the housing cavity 45 of the damper 50.
Formed in the container body 10 is an aperture 21 through which a wheel 53 can be manually actuated, the wheel 53 housing a rotation-limiting nut 54 in threaded engagement with a screw 55, the rotation of the screw 55 being locked by its hexagonal head 56, the hexagonal head 56 being housed in the seat 22 defined by the two half-shells 20.
Rotation of the wheel 53 causes translation of the screw 55 and thus adjustment of the end of travel of the slider 30 and thus of the damper or alternatively of the impact-resistant rubber pad 52 mounted on the slider 30.
The cable 11 is wound on a toothed wheel 60, the toothed wheel 60 having a central hole 61 for mounting on a hub 23, the hub 23 projecting inwardly from one of the two half-shells 20.
Around said central hole 61, a toothed portion is respectively provided on both sides of the toothed wheel 60, defining a gear or pinion, or better two half-pinions 62 meshing with the half-rack 32.
The lower part of the toothed wheel 60 with the pinion 62, hereinafter also referred to as toothed wheel 60, is accommodated between the two half-slides 31, so that the two half-pinions 62 with the teeth mesh with the two half-racks 32, which is shown in fig. 2, 3 and 4.
In particular, in fig. 2 the front half-shell 20 is removed, it being possible to see that the front half-pinions mesh with the corresponding half-racks, whereas in fig. 3 and 4 the front half-slides are also removed, it being possible to see that the front half-pinions and the rear half-racks are in the two end positions of travel.
Hereinafter, for convenience of description, the member 62 and the member 32 are simply referred to as a pinion and a rack.
In the assembly phase, the two half-sliders 31 are coupled to each other by interlocking or other means, so as to surround the spring 40 and the damper 50 or alternatively the anti-impact rubber gasket 52 and a portion of the toothed wheel 60, and the two half-shells 20 of the container body 10 are also coupled by interlocking or other means.
The assembled device is therefore very compact and aesthetically pleasing, and is attached to one side 12 of the furniture by a pair of countersunk screws 71, the countersunk screws 71 being covered by a cap 70.
The function of the device according to the invention for guiding and supporting a door of a piece of furniture with a downward flap opening is briefly described below and is relatively straightforward.
Fig. 3 shows a state where the door of the furniture is closed.
Referring to the figure, the slider 30 is in the end-of-travel condition towards the right, i.e. in the position closest to the door 16, when the spring 40, operating by tension, is in the condition of minimum extension between the pin 41 and the pin 42 that constrain its two ends.
During the opening of the door 16, the cable 11 tends to unwind from the toothed wheel 60, the toothed wheel 60 transmitting the movement to the rack 32 through the pinion or gear 62, the rack 32 being forced to translate in the meshing direction (from right to left with reference to the figures), causing a stretching, and consequently pulling on the stretching spring 40, which is pre-tensioned at the assembly.
During opening, the moment generated by the weight of the door is slightly greater than the moment generated by the spring 40 (constant resistance arm given by the point of application of the fastening element 13 to the door), thus facilitating the opening of the door without causing impact on the door.
During opening, the possible impact of the end of travel of the door is also dampened by the damper 50 or the anti-impact rubber pad 52, the damper 50 or the anti-impact rubber pad 52 abutting against the screw 55, determining the end of travel of the translation of the rack 32 and therefore the degree of opening of the door 16, which can be adjusted by the rotation wheel 53 in one direction or the other.
During the closing of the door, the tension spring 40 exerts a return force on the slider 30, causing a translation towards the right of the rack 32, the rack 32 meshing with the toothed pinion 62 causing the cable 11 to rewind onto the toothed wheel 60.
In the case of the compression operation of the spring 40, the spring is loaded to compress itself during the opening of the door and exerts a pushing force during the closing.
From the above description, the advantages of the device according to the invention are evident, in which the toothed wheel 60 with fixed axis actuates and translates the rack 32 during door opening, while the translation of the rack 32 in the opposite direction, caused by the tension spring 40 during door closing, causes the toothed wheel 60 to rotate in the opposite direction, which causes the cable 11 to rewind and thus support the door 16.
Naturally, the invention is not limited to the specific embodiments described above and shown in the drawings, and it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in detail may be effected therein without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
