Description

Comprehensive online shopping/purchasing system and method
Technical Field
Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to online shopping, and more particularly, to an integrated online shopping/purchasing system and method, and an active inventory sort column for shopping on a shopping site.
Background
In recent decades, the number of online purchases has grown dramatically, with an increasing proportion of the overall retail volume. This is because online shopping is often more physically less than shopping in a brick and mortar store, where shoppers travel a great distance from store to store. Another reason for the growth of online shopping is that online shopping tends to be more affordable and more varied in price than clothing purchased at brick and mortar stores. Yet another reason for the growth of online shopping is that the popularity of accessible internet devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops, personal computers, and high-speed broadband provides greater participation and convenience to online shoppers.
Despite the many advantages of online shopping, current online shopping has some drawbacks, and one of the main problems is that with current clothing shopping systems and methods, shoppers do not know which size of a certain clothing of a certain brand is more suitable for them, nor do they know what they feel to others after wearing the clothing. Often shoppers want the garment to fit when placing an order, but often find it not fit after receiving the product for the order. Although there are applications that provide body measurement functionality, these applications are not related to wearing pieces or garments.
Moreover, the previously purchased inappropriate clothing not only contributes additional shipping costs and wasted time for both the shopper and seller, but also results in reduced loyalty for the online shopper. This may result in a decrease in the number of customers and a decrease in profits of the online seller.
Therefore, it is desirable to design an improved system and method for online shopping, which can solve the above-mentioned problems of the conventional online shopping.

The e-commerce module (300) is used to implement any e-commerce marketing campaign through the system of the present invention. In one embodiment, the e-commerce module (300) may provide content suitable for purchasing clothing online and facilitate shopping/purchasing activities.
Referring now to fig. 2, the body measurement module (400) is used to detect data based on video or images captured in a user device. The video or image captured by the user is transmitted to the server (400A) to initiate the body measurement process by image recognition. It is contemplated that the body measurement module (400) may be input by a user or voice. The body measurement data may be stored in a database (116).
Further, based on the body measurement data and the user provided images or video, the server (400A) of the body measurement module (102B) sends input instructions to an Artificial Intelligence (AI) server (402B) for further image processing and artificial intelligence calculations. Thereby generating output instructions and sending the output instructions to the graphical interface of the application module (200) for reading by the user. Examples of output instructions include, but are not limited to: the user's avatar home page (420) in the virtual fitting room module (200) includes the user's name, gender, size, occupation, home address, language, Facebook friends, education level, work experience, favorite television programs, books or music, etc. The various embodiments are not limited in this regard and other types of user data may be provided. The body size data stored on the avatar home page (420) includes body size data provided by the user at the time of first login and other relevant body size related data determined by the measurement module based on the picture taken in fig. 2. The user may then try on the purchased or to-be-purchased garments through the system, proceeding to execute the virtual fitting room module (500).
Referring now to fig. 3A, a virtual fitting room module (500) according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is used to acquire data from a body measurement module (400) or to receive a new picture input from a user. Either way, the virtual fitting room module (500) is configured to detect and/or extract body size data based on the input instructions and apply it in a virtual fitting of the user's body. The virtual fitting module (500) may provide the user with augmented reality technology for virtual fitting of at least one garment in an augmented reality (206) manner. In one embodiment, a user may place the mobile device on the floor and stand entirely within the full body frame so that their body can undergo an augmented reality virtual fit, as shown in FIG. 3B. For example, a user's picture may be taken (108), which the user may store as a character picture. In one embodiment, each user/customer may store at most four family member character photographs. Furthermore, the user can himself/herself take a video under the camera. A view-finder in the center of the camera lens may help the user/customer determine the best position to position the body. Further, the virtual fitting module (500) may be used to attach a garment or apparel selected for purchase by the user to the user's live photograph. Those skilled in the art will also appreciate that augmented reality will provide the user with the appearance and fit of a garment on the user.
During the virtual fitting process, the virtual fitting module (500) may be further configured to automatically correct the dimensions of the garment selected by the user based on body measurement data (corresponding to the user) stored in a database or input by the user. According to one embodiment of the invention, the user may know what clothing he wants to buy, but not know the proper size of a brand of mood apparel to fit on his own.
Further, as shown in fig. 3C, the automatic resizing sub-module (500A) of the virtual fitting module (500) may utilize the avatar photograph stored in the database or avatar home page (420) and present the photograph of the user wearing the garment. In one embodiment, the automatic resizing sub-module will attach the garment to a portrait photograph, allowing the user to obtain a photograph of the look of wearing the designated garment. It is furthermore used for re-dimensioning the garment selected by the user based on user feedback and said body measurement data. For example, if the automatic resizing presents the appropriate size of the selected garment, but if the user determines that the appropriate size of the selected garment is different from what is suggested in the virtual fitting module (500), the user may select the appropriate size himself. In one embodiment, the virtual fitting module (500) may store this size as feedback and may use it in determining the appropriate size for the customer in the future.
Thus, as shown in fig. 3D, the virtual fitting module (500) is adapted to automatically determine the proper/correct size for the garment selected by the user based on the body measurement data (corresponding to the user) stored on the user avatar home page (420), and to present the correct size of the garment through the user interface. In one embodiment, the user may drag a selected garment through the user interface and the virtual fitting room module (500) automatically determines and displays the appropriate size of the garment. In another embodiment, the user simply selects a garment and obtains the garment size he/she fits.
In a preferred embodiment, the user's avatar home page (400) in the virtual fitting room system (500) also includes additional information sections. For example, the additional information portion includes additional features of the user, such as personal experiences, educational experiences, hobbies and beliefs, and the like. In this way, the information may help the web vendor improve the overall targeted user service experience.
According to a preferred embodiment, the customer may then purchase the garment or apparel on the e-commerce platform, after which the actual garment or apparel is sent to the customer. The system proceeds to the item tracking module (600) as shown in fig. 4. The outfit or apparel purchased through the system may have a unique identification code (ID), which may be a bar code or RFID tag or similar design. Each bar code and label will thus carry information about the particular item and the user who purchased the garment or apparel. The tagging of each apparel sold by the system may also enable system administrators/sellers to track sales and purchase records, including inventory tracking. As an example, the user may identify or obtain his/her purchase information by reading the RFID tag, as may the system or an administrator/vendor using the system. The RFID tag may be read by standard RFID devices. The RFID identifier and reading device for reading digital data of an identification code tag or any form of identification code, respectively, are compatible with the reader. In a preferred embodiment, the RFID detector and reader includes a module for recording time, location, images, etc. associated with the garment/apparel. It is contemplated that all data on the RFID detector and reader will be wirelessly transmitted in real time to the processor and database of the system.
The system further includes an e-commerce module (400), referred to herein as a screening sub-module, for allowing a user to select or screen favorite garments for use with the e-commerce module (400). Accordingly, the e-commerce module (400) may be configured to interface with other e-commerce platforms and websites to allow a user to browse garments and other items of interest. In one embodiment, the user may select from different options, such as a clothing region, a shoe region, a bag region, an accessory region, and the like. Further, the user can narrow the search range and search only the needed clothes. For example, in the footwear area, the user may have options such as high heel, medium heel, flat heel, sneakers, sandals, and the like. Similarly, in the clothing region, the user can narrow the search range to a skirt, a jacket, a shirt, a coat, a lap, jeans, sportswear, and the like.
In a preferred embodiment, the application module (200) further comprises a sharing sub-module (200A) for allowing the user to share the image of the user's selected garment on social media (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, google +, WhatsApp, etc.). The user may want to know that the friend sees how he/she is wearing the piece of clothing. The user may also save the desired garment in a wish list and check out after receiving the feedback from the friend.
In one example, as shown in FIG. 5, using the share side module (200A), a user may comment on a friend's posts on a social networking site (604). The user may have already commented on a friend's post (604) in a social networking site. In one embodiment, any vendor or application module (200) may find the post and use it as a user feature to summarize user preferences and current needs, for example, the post may show that the user/customer wants to buy a blue skirt. The seller can use this data to provide more targeted services to the customer. Further, sellers can utilize this data for effective and targeted marketing campaigns, e.g., sellers can post custom links (610) containing information that such apparel is being promoted. The customized posts or information may provide a way for a customer to connect to a vendor's customer service.
Returning again to fig. 1, further in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the application module (200) is provided with a checkout sub-module (212) that allows a user to checkout and order products from an online shopping website. In one embodiment, the user may choose to pay for the order before receiving the garment/apparel. In another embodiment, the user may want to pay after receiving the garment/apparel. Further, according to one embodiment of the invention, if the user shares the apparel over social media, the checkout module (212) places an order based on feedback received over the social media. For example, if a user's friends on social media give a better rating of the user's selected clothing, the application module (200) may notify the user of these positive ratings and the user may place an order.
Further, as shown in fig. 3A to 3D, the system according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention is used to automatically link the third party vendor website through a communication network (such as the internet) and a database (116), obtain the relevant accessories of the user's selected clothing and display the relevant/suggested accessories on the user interface. For example, if the user selects a skirt as shown in FIG. 3D, the user interface may display the appropriate size of the selected skirt and suggest a pair of sandals that fit the selected skirt. In one embodiment, the user may be interested in purchasing both the suggested accessories and the selected skirt, which may be placed together.
FIG. 6 illustrates an exemplary flow chart 600 of a method for a user to shop online in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. First, at step 602, a user executes an application module (200) through his/her device. At this stage, the user may enter his/her details by logging into the system via a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The user may then proceed to the e-commerce module to browse for clothing or apparel to purchase in step 604. In selecting a fit or determining whether the size corresponds to the user's clothing or apparel, the next step is to select a virtual fitting room module in step 606. At this stage, the user's physical measurements and user pictures are received, as explained in the above paragraph. It is contemplated that according to one embodiment of the present invention, the user may need to provide the physical measurement size data and the user image at the time of first login to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the application module (200). Upon subsequent logins by the user, the stored physical measurement size information can be seen. However, according to various alternative embodiments, the user may update the body measurement size at any time. Further, the received body measurement data may be stored in a user's or customer's avatar home page.
In step 608, the user selects a favorite garment. In one embodiment, a user may browse various clothing available for purchase when purchasing on an e-commerce website. The user may select a garment desired to be purchased.
In step 610, an augmented reality try-in of the user is provided. In one embodiment, the user may place the mobile device on the floor and stand in a full body frame, and the body may be virtual reality fitted. A picture may be taken for the user, where the user may store as a character picture. Further, the selected garment may be superimposed on the real-time image of the user, allowing the user to experience the feel of wearing the selected garment.
In step 612, the selected garment is automatically resized based on the user's body measurement data and the automatically resized garment is displayed on a Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the application module (504), such as an augmented reality try-on area of the user interface. According to one embodiment of the invention, the user may not be certain or know at all which size of the favorite garment/apparel is appropriate. Thus, the method automatically determines, by the application module (200), the appropriate/correct size of the user-selected favorite garment or apparel based on the physical measurement size data provided by the user at the first login.
In step 614, it is determined whether the user/customer is satisfied with the desired automatically adjusted size of the garment. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that some users know what dimensions of the selected garment are more appropriate for them and will want to be able to change or review the selected dimensions in the virtual fitting room system (200).
If the user is satisfied with the size and fitting feel of the garment selected by the virtual fitting room system (200) at step 616, the method proceeds to step 618. If not, the method reverts to automatic resizing. In this automatic resizing, any other dimensions of the selected garment (other than those previously selected) will be selected based on the body dimension measurement data of the user. In one embodiment, the virtual fitting room system (200) may select an appropriate size for the user, which the user may approve or disapprove. In another embodiment, the user himself selects the appropriate size of the selected apparel.
A determination is made at step 618 as to whether the user wants to share the selected clothing on social media. If the user does not want to share on social media, the method proceeds to check out at step 620. If the user is willing to share, the method may return to step 616 where the user may determine whether the user is satisfied with the try-on experience and size of the selected garment based on feedback received on the social media. If the user receives positive feedback, he/she checks out. Instead he/she tries to try on a different size of the garment or try on again.
The integrated experience provided by the systems and methods according to the preferred embodiments of the present invention enhances the online shopping experience of a user or customer on an online shopping website by determining the appropriate size of a user's selected garment (e.g., skirt, coat, blouse, shirt, pants, skirt, gown, wedding dress, shoes, etc.). Thus, with the virtual fitting room feature of the present invention, the user does not need to select the size of the selected garment/apparel, as the user is likely to be unsure whether that size of a certain apparel of a certain brand fits him/her.
Further, since the selected garment is of a size suitable for the user, the user is less likely to return the goods after receiving the physical object.
