流体传输系统用于将流体从源传输到目的地。在许多类型的流体输送系统中,通常使用大型手动致动阀作为流体导管连接装置。在这样的系统中,通常将称为联接器的构件附接到导管并且该联接器包括内部阀。联接器可以附接到例如在箱或容器上作为适配器或接收构件的另一构件。可以经由存在于联接器上的手柄的旋转来手动地致动联接器内的阀。手柄的旋转导致联接器内的阀的关闭。

如果手柄100设置有三个减小半径的区域103和三个较大半径的区域104,则手柄具有围绕联接器1的近似三角形形式。因此,较大半径的区域104中的各个区域形成手柄100的顶点。三角形形式实现了更好的可用性,因为与利用圆形手柄将可能的情况相比,可以更容易地确定阀的状态(即,打开还是关闭),因为操作者可以检查三角形手柄100的顶点中的一个顶点的对准来确定阀状态。例如,如果在联接器1连接到适配器或其它配合构件时,较大半径的区域104中的一个区域位于联接器1的顶部,则阀可以打开。当在联接器1连接到适配器或其它配合构件时,两个较大半径的区域104位于联接器1的顶部,则阀可以关闭。与没有对齐参考的圆形手柄相比,这实现了更好的可用性。
