Description

Annular double-arm tensioner
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an annular two-arm tensioner, particularly suitable for use in an internal combustion engine drive system having a starter-generator.
Background
In order to improve the fuel consumption and emissions of engines, engines with starter-generator units have been developed. In such engines, the starter-generator unit, when started, acts as a starter motor to restart the engine; once the engine is started, the starter-generator unit may act as a generator to recharge the battery.
The starter-generator unit is mechanically coupled to the crankshaft of the engine through an endless drive, such as a belt or chain. The endless drive is vibrated by the influence of the system, particularly when the starter-generator unit is switched in function between the starter and the generator, in which case the tight side and the slack side of the endless drive are angularly interchanged, and therefore tensioners have been developed to deal with the vibration of the endless drive with the starter-generator unit.
Specific tensioners can be referred to in US9551402B2, CN106168275A, CN107208755B, all of which use compression springs abutting the tensioning arm, under pressure, may cause the compression springs to bend and deform off axis, making it difficult to control the stability of the springs. Reference is also made to the tensioner construction disclosed in WO2019090423(a1) which adds an extension spring inside the pulley, but the space on the engine end face is extremely limited, and such a design may make the tensioner difficult to adapt to different engines.

Detailed Description
The present invention will be described more fully with reference to fig. 1-2 of the drawings.
An endless two-arm tensioner for an internal combustion engine having a starter-generator includes a crankshaft pulley, an accessory pulley, and a starter-generator pulley, with an endless drive member wrapped around the crankshaft pulley, the accessory pulley, and the starter-generator pulley.
The annular dual-arm tensioner comprises a first tensioning arm 1, a second tensioning arm 2, a base 3, and an extension spring 4.
The base 3 is provided with a fixing portion 31 that fixes the annular double-arm tensioner to the internal combustion engine.
The base 3, the first tensioning arm 1 and the second tensioning arm 2 are respectively provided with annular parts 10, 20 and 30, the three annular parts are mutually sleeved around the same rotation axis, so that the annular double-arm tensioner is sleeved on a belt wheel of a starter-generator through the annular parts, and the first tensioning arm 1 and the second tensioning arm 2 can rotate around the rotation axis relative to the base 3. The axis of rotation is typically coincident with the axis of the starter-generator pulley, and in some designs, is also allowed to be offset from the axis of the starter-generator pulley. In this creation, the annular portion 30 of the base 3 is on one side in the axial direction, and the annular portions 10 and 20 of the first and second tensioning arms are respectively sleeved on the annular portion 30 of the base. In other embodiments, the annular portions 10, 20 of the first and second tensioning arms may be clamped on both axial sides of the base annular portion 30. The clamping can be carried out through the matching of the concave-convex structures of the three annular parts, or components such as bolts or annular clamping pieces can be additionally arranged to be matched with the first tensioning arm, the second tensioning arm and the base so as to realize the stable combination between the first tensioning arm and the base.
Bushings (not shown) for damping the relative rotation of the first and second tensioning arms 1, 2 and the base 3 are provided between the annular portions thereof. An elastic support is also provided, which provides an axial force between the first and second tensioning arms and the annular portion of the base.
The first tensioning arm 1 and the second tensioning arm 2 are provided with a connection 11, 21 and a pulley shaft 12, 22, respectively. The connecting parts 11 and 21 are respectively connected with two ends of the extension spring 4, and the pulley shafts 12 and 22 are used for installing pulleys 13 and 23 which are abutted with the annular transmission parts. The tension spring 4 acts on the first and second tensioning arms 1, 2 and tends to move the first and second pulleys 13, 23 towards each other. Referring to fig. 1, the pulley and connecting portion of either of the first and second tensioning arms 1, 2 are circumferentially spaced apart by the pulley and connecting portion of the other tensioning arm. The connecting part 11 of the first tensioning arm 1 intersects with the connecting line of the pulley shaft 12 and the connecting part 12 of the second tensioning arm 2 intersects with the connecting line of the pulley shaft 22. Taking the angle shown in fig. 1 as an example, a horizontal straight line is drawn through the axis of the tensioner, the first belt pulley, the second belt pulley and the extension spring of the first tensioning arm and the second tensioning arm are respectively arranged at the upper side and the lower side of the straight line, so that the space near the belt pulley of the starter-generator is effectively utilized, the space is particularly important on the end surface with limited engine space, the belt pulley of the starter-generator is basically not shielded, and the sight of an operator is convenient to observe.
The extension spring is always in a straight line under the extension action, the axis of the extension spring cannot deviate from the axis of the extension spring, and compared with the bending or torsional deformation possibly generated by the compression spring, the system stability of the tensioner adopting the extension spring is better. Compared with a hydraulic rod or an air supporting rod, the tensioner adopting the extension spring is simpler in structure and lower in cost.
In a preferred embodiment, the connecting portions 11, 21 of the first and second tensioning arms 1, 2 are cylindrical members extending in the axial direction, and arc-shaped engaging portions 41 are provided at both ends of the extension spring 4 to be fitted over the cylindrical connecting portions 11, 21. Preferably, the cylindrical connecting portions 11 and 21 are further provided with cylindrical bushes 27, the bushes 27 are provided with grooves 28 extending in the circumferential direction on radial surfaces perpendicular to the axis, and the arc-shaped engaging portions 41 at both ends of the tension spring 4 are fitted over the grooves 28 so as to prevent the engaging portions 41 of the tension spring 4 from moving in the axial direction. The bush 27 is preferably made of plastic, and can provide a certain damping, and the bush 27 made of plastic can reduce the friction between the arc-shaped engaging portion 41 of the tension spring and the connecting portions 11 and 21, and reduce noise, compared with the metal material of the tension spring 4 and the connecting portions 11 and 21.
The first tensioning arm and the second tensioning arm have the same shape and structure. In this creation, the structure is the same indicates that first, second tensioning arm is through punching press or casting manufacturing process, and during preliminary shaping, adopt same mould to make, the appearance is the same. After the preliminary forming, corresponding structures such as holes, recesses, protrusions and the like are formed through secondary stamping or other common processing technologies in the technical field, so that the first tensioning arm and the second tensioning arm can be matched with each other or the tensioning arms can be matched with other parts such as a base, a bushing and the like. By adopting the components with the same structure, the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and the assembly error can be reduced. Meanwhile, the distance between the two belt wheels and the axis is the same due to the parts with the same structure, and when the load of the belt wheels is calculated, the structure is simpler, and engineering calculation is facilitated.
The technical solutions described above are only for illustrating the embodiments of the present invention, and are not limiting to the present invention, and equivalent changes made by those skilled in the art according to the creation of the present invention belong to the protection scope of the present invention.
