Embodiments of the present application provide a control method for a display panel, which will be described in detail below.
Referring to fig. 1, fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The display panel 100 includes a first display area 11, a second display area 12, a first Gate Driver on Array (GOA) circuit 13, a second GOA circuit 14 and a driving module 15.
Wherein the first display area 11 is arranged adjacent to the second display area 12. The first GOA circuit 13 is electrically connected to the first display area 11. The first GOA circuit 13 is configured to drive the first display area to display. The second GOA circuit 14 is electrically connected to the second display area 12. The second GOA circuit 14 is configured to drive the second display area 12 to display. The driving component 15 is electrically connected to the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14, respectively. The driving component 15 is configured to control power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 through the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14.
In this embodiment, the driving component 15 can be configured to adjust the refresh rate of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 through the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14, so as to control the power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12.
In some embodiments, the driving component 15 includes at least one driving chip, and the driving chip is electrically connected to the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14 respectively. The driving chip is configured to adjust the refresh rate of the first display area 11 and the refresh rate of the second display area 12 through the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14, so as to control the power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12.
In some embodiments, as shown in fig. 3, the driving assembly 15 may include a first driving chip 151 and a second driving chip 152. The first driver chip 151 is electrically connected to the first GOA circuit, and is configured to adjust a refresh rate of the first display area 11 through the first GOA circuit 13, so as to control power consumption of the first display area 11. The second driver chip 152 is electrically connected to the second GOA circuit 14, and is configured to adjust a refresh rate of the second display region 12 through the second GOA circuit 14, so as to control power consumption of the second display region 12.
It should be noted that the display panels 100 produced by different manufacturers have different specific arrangement modes of the corresponding first display regions 11 and second display regions 12.
As shown in fig. 1, the display panel 100 includes two first display regions 11 and a second display region 12, and the second display region 12 is disposed between the two first display regions 11. In some embodiments, the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 may also be arranged as shown in fig. 2, and the display panel 100 includes one first display area 11 and one second display area 12.
In some embodiments, the driving component 15 may be configured to adjust the refresh rate of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 based on the display content of the display panel 100 and the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14, so as to control the power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12.
Typically, the refresh rate of the first display region 11 and the refresh rate of the second display region 12 are the same. However, the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 of the display panel 100 have different requirements for refresh rates for different Applications (APPs).
For example, when the APP is a communication APP, the screens displayed in the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 are different. In this case, the first display area 11 is a top status bar and/or a bottom navigation bar, and the second display area 12 is an information display bar. The top status bar and the bottom navigation bar are areas with less screen switching, and therefore the first display area 11 has low demand for a refresh rate. Since the information display field is an area in which the number of screen changes is large, the second display area 12 has a high demand for the refresh rate.
At this time, the driving component 15 may be configured to reduce the refresh rate of the first display region 11 through the first GOA circuit 13 and maintain the refresh rate of the second display region 12 through the second GOA circuit 14 when the display content of the display panel 100 is the first type of content; or the refresh rate of the first display area 11 is reduced by the first GOA circuit 13 and the refresh rate of the second display area 12 is increased by the second GOA circuit 14. It is thus possible to reduce or not increase the power consumption of the display panel 100 while ensuring the stability and definition of the second display region 12.
For example, when the APP is a video APP or a game APP, the contents displayed in the first display region 11 and the second display region 12 are the same. At this time, the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 both display the video or the game content, and the refresh rate required for the video or the game is high, and therefore, the demands for the refresh rate are the same for the first display area 11 and the second display area 12.
At this time, the driving component 15 may be configured to increase the refresh rate of the first display region 11 through the first GOA circuit 13 and increase the refresh rate of the second display region 12 through the second GOA circuit 14 when the display content of the display panel 100 is of the second type; or the first GOA circuit 13 increases the refresh rate of the first display area 11 and the second GOA circuit 14 maintains the refresh rate of the second display area 12. Thereby ensuring stability and definition of the display screen of the display panel 100.
For example, when the APP is a reading APP, the screens displayed in the first display region 11 and the second display region 12 may be the same or different. The display content of the first display area 11 may be a top status bar and/or a bottom navigation bar, or text information, and the display content of the second display area 12 may be text information.
At this time, the display screen of the display panel 100 is mainly character information, and therefore, the first display region 11 and the second display region 12 do not have high demand for the refresh rate. At this time, the driving component 15 may be configured to maintain the refresh rate of the first display region 11 through the first GOA circuit 13 and reduce the refresh rate of the second display region 12 through the second GOA circuit 14 when the display content of the display panel 100 is of the third type; or the refresh rate of the first display area 11 is reduced by the first GOA circuit 13 and the refresh rate of the second display area 12 is reduced by the second GOA circuit 14. Thereby reducing power consumption of the display panel 100.
In some embodiments, a user may not operate the display panel 100 for a number of periods of time while using the display panel 100 due to something, such as talking to a person or doing something else, which may significantly increase the power consumption of the display panel 100 if the display panel 100 still maintains a high refresh rate.
For this, the driving component 15 may be configured to reduce the refresh rate of the first display region 11 through the first GOA circuit 13 and reduce the refresh rate of the second display region 12 through the second GOA circuit 14 when the display panel 100 has no operation action for a preset time period, so as to reduce the power consumption of the display panel 100. The preset time length can be set according to the actual situation.
In the implementation process, the display brightness of the display panel 100 generally varies with the ambient light, and too high display brightness of the display panel 100 may cause too high power consumption of the display panel 100.
In this regard, an ambient light sensor may be disposed in the display panel 100, and the ambient light sensor is electrically connected to the driving component 15, and is configured to acquire ambient light intensity data and transmit the ambient light intensity data to the driving component 15. The driving component 15 is configured to adjust refresh rates of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12 based on the ambient light intensity data and the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14, so as to control power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12.
In particular, the driving component 15 may be configured to determine whether the ambient light intensity data is greater than a preset threshold; if yes, the first GOA circuit 13 reduces the refresh rate of the first display area 11, and the second GOA circuit 14 reduces the refresh rate of the second display area 12; if not, the first GOA circuit 13 maintains the refresh rate of the first display area 11, and the second GOA circuit 14 maintains the refresh rate of the second display area 12. Wherein, the preset threshold value can be set according to the actual situation.
Referring to fig. 4, fig. 4 is a schematic flowchart illustrating a driving method of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The specific flow of the driving method of the display panel 100 may be as follows:
101. the power consumption of the first display region 11 is controlled by the first GOA circuit 13.
102. The power consumption of the second display area 12 is controlled by the second GOA circuit 14.
Specifically, the refresh rate of the first display area 11 is adjusted by the first GOA circuit 13, so as to control the power of the first display area 11; the refresh rate of the second display region 12 is adjusted by the second GOA circuit 14 to control the power of the second display region 12.
The step of adjusting the refresh rate of the first display region 11 by the first GOA circuit 13 to control the power of the first display region 11 may include:
The refresh rate of the first display region 11 is adjusted based on the display content of the display panel and the first GOA circuit 13 to control the power of the first display region 11.
The step of adjusting the refresh rate of the second display region 12 by the second GOA circuit 14 to control the power of the second display region 12 may comprise:
the refresh rate of the second display region 12 is adjusted based on the display content of the display panel and the second GOA circuit 14 to control the power of the second display region 12.
The step of adjusting the refresh rate of the first display region 11 based on the display content of the display panel and the first GOA circuit 13 to control the power of the first display region 11 includes:
when the display content of the display panel 100 is the first type of content, the refresh rate of the first display area 11 is reduced by the first GOA circuit 13 to reduce the refresh rate of the first display area 11.
The step of adjusting the refresh rate of the second display region 12 based on the display content of the display panel and the second GOA circuit 14 to control the power of the second display region 12 includes:
when the display content of the display panel 100 is the first type of content, the refresh rate of the second display region 12 is maintained by the second GOA circuit 14 to maintain the power consumption of the second display region 12.
Therefore, the display panel 100 provided in the embodiment of the present application can adjust the refresh rate of the first display area 11 and the refresh rate of the second display area 12 through the first GOA circuit 13 and the second GOA circuit 14 according to the display content and the actual situation of the display panel, so as to control the power consumption of the first display area 11 and the second display area 12, and thus, the stability and the definition of the display picture of the display panel can be ensured, and the power consumption of the display panel is not increased.
In the foregoing embodiments, the descriptions of the respective embodiments have respective emphasis, and for parts that are not described in detail in a certain embodiment, reference may be made to the related descriptions of other embodiments.
