Abstract

A roller tappet (10) for a high-pressure fuel pump is described. The roller lifter (10) includes a roller lifter body (12) and a roller (14) located within the roller lifter body (12). The bearing bolts (16) are located within the rollers (14). A retainer ring (18) surrounds the bearing bolt (16) and the roller lifter body (12) for securing the bearing bolt (16) to the roller lifter body (12). The retainer ring (18) is oriented along a longitudinal axis of the bearing bolt (16) and perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the roller lifter body (12).

Technical Field
The present invention relates to roller tappets and, more particularly, to a retainer ring (retainer ring) for securing a bearing bolt to a roller tappet body of a roller tappet.
Background
US 2006/288974 a describes a connection of a bearing bolt in a cylindrical housing of a roller tappet, which is actuated in the direction of a longitudinal axis (Z), in particular for tappet rod valve drives of internal combustion engines. The bearing bolt is supported in a bore hole of the housing which extends in a transverse plane (XY) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (Z) into the roller tappet and is connected to the housing by material deformation with a positive fit and/or a non-positive fit. The material deformation is provided as one or more segments, wherein at least one segment completely surrounds the radial load region of the bearing bolt and the section of the bearing bolt extending around the transverse plane (XY) is free of material deformation.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 illustrates a roller tappet 10 for a high-pressure fuel pump. Roller lifter 10 includes a roller lifter body 12 and a roller 14 located within roller lifter body 12. Bearing bolts 16 are located within the rollers 14. A retainer ring 18 surrounds bearing bolt 16 and roller lifter body 12 for securing bearing bolt 16 to roller lifter body 12. Retainer ring 18 is oriented along the longitudinal axis of bearing bolt 16 and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of roller lifter body 12.
Fig. 2 illustrates a side view of the roller tappet 10 for the high-pressure fuel pump. Roller lifter 10 also includes a groove 21 defined on roller lifter body 12 such that groove 21 surrounds the entire roller lifter body 12 in a transverse plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of roller lifter body 12.
In the exemplary embodiment, retainer ring 18 is inserted into a groove 21 defined on roller lifter body 12 such that retainer ring 18 extends circumferentially around groove 21 of roller lifter body 12 to form a tight fit within groove 21 of roller lifter body 12. Additionally, a retaining ring 18 extends around bearing bolt 16 to help secure bearing bolt 16 to roller lifter body 12. In the embodiment shown in fig. 1, retainer ring 18 is oriented along a longitudinal axis of bearing bolt 16 and perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of roller lifter body 12.
Retaining ring 18 exerts a restraining force on bearing bolt 16 to help secure bearing bolt 16 to roller lifter body 12. The applied restraining force prevents bearing bolt 16 from disengaging from roller lifter body 12. When it is desired to disengage bearing bolt 16 from roller lifter body 12, the ends of retainer ring 18 are pried apart and retainer ring 18 is removed from groove 21. Once retainer ring 18 is removed from roller lifter body 12, bearing bolt 16 may be disengaged from roller lifter body 12.

Many modifications of the embodiments are contemplated and form part of the present invention with respect to leverage and dimensions of the various components. The scope of the invention is limited only by the scope of the claims.

Claims (2)

1. A roller lifter (10) for a high pressure fuel pump, the roller lifter (10) comprising:
a roller tappet body (12);
a roller (14) located within the roller lifter body (12);
a bearing bolt (16) located within the roller (14); it is characterized in that the preparation method is characterized in that,
a retainer ring (18) encircling the bearing bolt (16) and the roller lifter body (12) for securing the bearing bolt (16) to the roller lifter body (12), the retainer ring (18) being oriented along a longitudinal axis of the bearing bolt (16) and perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the roller lifter body (12).
2. The roller lifter (10) for a high-pressure fuel pump according to claim 1, further comprising a groove (21) defined in the roller lifter body (12), wherein the retainer ring (18) is inserted onto the groove (21).
