Abstract

The application discloses a method and a device for controlling advertisement duration, and belongs to the field of data processing. In the application, the server can obtain the basic advertisement duration and the current load of the server, and determine the advertisement duration of the target advertisement to be delivered according to the basic advertisement duration and the current load. When the current load is larger than a first threshold value, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is larger than the basic advertisement duration, when the current load is smaller than a second threshold value, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is smaller than the basic advertisement duration, and the first threshold value is not smaller than the second threshold value. And then, the target advertisement can be pushed to the terminal according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement. Therefore, due to the fact that the determined advertisement time lengths of the target advertisements are different, the time for the user to watch the video can be staggered in the peak time period, software and hardware resources required to be deployed by the server are reduced, and therefore the idle cost of the software and hardware resources in the low-peak time period can be reduced.

Description

Method and device for controlling advertisement duration
Technical Field
The present application relates to the field of data processing, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for controlling advertisement duration.
Background
Currently, there are peak periods and low peak periods in the video watching periods of the user, for example, there are few users watching the video during working hours, i.e. low peak periods, and many users watching the video at night, i.e. high peak periods.
In order to ensure that every user can play video normally in any time period, enterprises must plan software and hardware resources according to the video playing amount in peak time periods. However, this would leave a large amount of hardware and software resources idle during the low peak period, resulting in too high idle cost.
Therefore, a method for balancing the usage amount of software and hardware resources in the peak time and the low-peak time is needed to reduce the software and hardware resources required to be deployed by the server, so as to reduce the idle cost of the software and hardware computing resources in the low-peak time.
Disclosure of Invention
The embodiment of the application provides a method, a device and a storage medium for controlling advertising duration, which can solve the problem that a large amount of software and hardware computing resources are idle in a low-peak time period. The technical scheme is as follows:
in one aspect, a method for controlling advertisement duration is provided, the method comprising:
acquiring the duration of a basic advertisement and the current load of the server;
determining the advertisement time length of a target advertisement to be launched according to the basic advertisement time length and the current load, wherein when the current load is greater than a first threshold value, the advertisement time length of the target advertisement is greater than the basic advertisement time length, when the current load is less than a second threshold value, the advertisement time length of the target advertisement is less than the basic advertisement time length, and the first threshold value is not less than the second threshold value;
and pushing the target advertisement to a terminal according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement.

a determining module, configured to determine an advertisement duration of a target advertisement to be delivered according to the basic advertisement duration and the current load, where when the current load is greater than a first threshold, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is greater than the basic advertisement duration, and when the current load is less than a second threshold, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is less than the basic advertisement duration, and the first threshold is not less than the second threshold;
and the pushing module is used for pushing the target advertisement to a terminal according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement.
In another aspect, a server is provided, the server comprising a processor, a communication interface, a memory, and a communication bus;
the processor, the communication interface and the memory complete mutual communication through the communication bus;
the memory is used for storing computer programs;
the processor is used for executing the program stored in the memory so as to realize the method for controlling the advertising time length.
In another aspect, a computer-readable storage medium is provided, in which a computer program is stored which, when being executed by a processor, carries out the steps of the method of controlling an advertisement time period as previously provided.
The beneficial effects brought by the technical scheme provided by the embodiment of the application at least comprise:
in an embodiment of the present application, when the current load of the server is greater than the first threshold, the duration of the targeted advertisement may be increased relative to the duration of the base advertisement. The advertisement duration for the targeted advertisement may be reduced relative to the base advertisement duration when the current load of the server is less than a second threshold. That is, the advertisement duration of the peak time period with higher load is longer than the advertisement duration of the low peak time period with lower load, so that more users can be attracted to watch videos from the peak time period to the low peak time period, thereby reducing the software and hardware resources required to be deployed by the server and lowering the operation cost. Meanwhile, the idle cost of software and hardware resources in a low-peak period can be reduced.

Before explaining the embodiments of the present application in detail, an application scenario related to the embodiments of the present application will be described.
At present, the number of users watching videos during working hours is small, and the number of users watching videos at night is large, namely, peak time and low peak time exist in the video watching time period of the users. In order to ensure that each user can normally play videos at any time, an enterprise plans software and hardware resources according to the video playing amount at the peak time, so that a large amount of software and hardware resources are idle at the low-peak time. Under the condition, the method for controlling the advertisement duration provided by the embodiment of the application can prolong the advertisement duration in the peak time period and shorten the advertisement duration in the low-peak time period, so that the stream is guided to the low-peak time period, the software and hardware resources required to be deployed by the server are reduced, and the operation cost is reduced. Meanwhile, the idle cost of software and hardware resources in the low peak period can be reduced by guiding the user to the low peak period.
Next, a system architecture related to the method for controlling advertisement duration provided by the embodiment of the present application is introduced.
Fig. 1 is a system architecture diagram according to an embodiment of the present application, which illustrates a method for controlling an advertisement duration. As shown in fig. 1, the system 100 includes a terminal 101 and a server 102. The terminal 101 and the server 102 are connected in a wireless or wired manner to communicate with each other.
The terminal 101 is a terminal capable of playing video. The terminal 101 may receive the targeted advertisement sent by the server 102 and play the targeted advertisement. When the advertisement duration of the target advertisement received by the terminal 101 is longer than the basic advertisement duration, the terminal 101 may display a close advertisement option after the target advertisement is played until the duration is not shorter than the basic advertisement duration. When the terminal 101 detects a selection operation of the user for closing the advertisement option, the terminal 101 may obtain a playing time length of the target advertisement and send the playing time length of the target advertisement to the server 102.
The server 102 may obtain the basic advertisement duration and the current load, may also obtain the current advertisement surplus, and determines the advertisement duration of the target advertisement to be delivered according to the basic advertisement duration, the current load, and the current advertisement surplus. Then, the targeted advertisement can be pushed to the terminal 101 according to the determined advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement, so that the terminal 101 plays the targeted advertisement. Next, the server 102 may update the current advertisement margin based on the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement and the base advertisement duration.
After the server 102 pushes the target advertisement to the terminal 101, the playing duration of the target advertisement fed back by the terminal 101 for the target advertisement may be received, and the current advertisement surplus is updated according to the playing duration of the target advertisement.
In this embodiment of the application, the terminal 101 may be a device such as a television, a computer, and a smart phone, and fig. 1 is only an example of a television and does not limit the embodiment of the application. The server 102 may be for a server or a cluster of servers.
Next, a method for controlling an advertisement duration provided by an embodiment of the present application is described.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart of a method for controlling an advertisement duration according to an embodiment of the present application, where the method may be applied to a server, which may be referred to as the server 102 in fig. 1. As shown in fig. 2, the method comprises the steps of:
step 201: and acquiring the basic advertisement duration and the current load of the server.
It should be noted that the advertisements that can be played by the terminal include a power-on advertisement, a video playing advertisement, and a video pause advertisement. The starting advertisement refers to an advertisement played after the terminal is started, the video playing advertisement refers to an advertisement played before the terminal plays a video, and the video pause advertisement refers to an advertisement played on a paused video picture after the terminal detects a pause operation of a user in the process of playing the video, that is, the video pause advertisement can block the paused video picture.
In some embodiments, the terminal may send a power-on notification message to the server after power-on. After receiving the power-on notification message, the server may obtain a basic advertisement duration according to the power-on notification message, where the basic advertisement duration may be a basic duration of the power-on advertisement.
In other embodiments, after the terminal detects the video playing operation of the user, a video acquisition request may be sent to the server. After receiving the video acquisition request, the server may acquire a basic advertisement duration according to the video acquisition request, where the basic advertisement duration may be a basic duration of a pre-film advertisement.
Alternatively, when the terminal detects a pause operation of the user during the playing of the video, a pause playing message may be sent to the server. After receiving the video pause message, the server may obtain a basic advertisement duration according to the video pause message, where the basic advertisement duration may be a basic duration for inserting an advertisement in a slice.
It should be noted that the server stores the corresponding relationship between different advertisement types and the basic advertisement duration. Based on the above, the server can determine the advertisement type according to the received message of the terminal, and further determine the corresponding basic advertisement duration from the corresponding relationship according to the advertisement type. The advertisement types are divided into a starting advertisement, a pre-film advertisement and an inter-film advertisement. For example, when the server receives the power-on notification message, it may be determined that the advertisement to be pushed is the power-on advertisement, and at this time, the basic advertisement duration corresponding to the power-on advertisement may be obtained from the correspondence. For another example, when the server receives a video acquisition request, it may be determined that the advertisement to be pushed is a pre-film advertisement, and at this time, the basic advertisement duration corresponding to the pre-film advertisement may be acquired from the correspondence. For another example, when the server receives a video pause message, it may be determined that the advertisement to be pushed is an inter-cut advertisement, and at this time, the basic advertisement duration corresponding to the inter-cut advertisement in the slice may be obtained from the correspondence.
After the server obtains the basic advertisement duration, the current load can be obtained. The server can obtain one or more indexes of the current processor utilization rate, the memory utilization rate, the network flow, the disk flow, the current started terminal number and the usage amount of the server in unit time, and determine the current load according to the obtained one or more indexes.
It should be noted that, when determining the current load according to an index, the value of the index may be directly used as the current load. When determining the current load according to a plurality of indexes, the server may obtain a weight corresponding to each of the plurality of stored indexes, where a sum of the weights of the plurality of indexes is equal to 1. Then, the current load can be determined according to the weight and the value of the plurality of indexes.
Illustratively, when the current load is determined according to the processor usage rate, assuming that the processor usage rate is 90%, the current load may be determined to be 0.9. When determining the current load according to the processor utilization and the memory utilization, assuming that the weights of the processor utilization and the memory utilization obtained by the server are 0.5, the processor utilization is 80%, and the memory utilization is 60%, it may be determined that the current load is (0.5 × 0.8) + (0.5 × 0.6) ═ 0.7.
Step 202: and determining the advertisement time length of the target advertisement to be delivered according to the basic advertisement time length and the current load.
When the current load of the server is greater than a first threshold value, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is greater than the basic advertisement duration, when the current load of the server is less than a second threshold value, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is less than the basic advertisement duration, and the first threshold value is not less than the second threshold value. The server stores a first threshold and a second threshold. When the current load of the server is greater than a first threshold, it may be considered to be currently in peak hours. When the current load of the server is less than the second threshold, it may be considered to be currently in the low peak period.
In this embodiment of the present application, the server may obtain a current advertisement surplus amount, where the current advertisement surplus amount is a sum of differences between a playing time length of each advertisement in all advertisements delivered from a specified time to a current time and a basic advertisement time length. And then, determining the advertisement time length of the target advertisement according to the current advertisement surplus, the basic advertisement time length and the current load.
The server stores the current advertisement margin, and the current advertisement margin is an initial value at a predetermined time, and the initial value may be 0. The designated time refers to the start time of each time period. After the appointed time, when the server pushes an advertisement to the terminal, the current advertisement surplus can be updated according to the difference between the advertisement time length of the advertisement and the basic advertisement time length. Alternatively, the advertisement fullness may be restored to the initial value every predetermined time period, for example, the time period may be one month, so that the advertisement fullness may be restored to the initial value every other month.
The current advertisement surplus is greater than 0, which indicates that the total playing time of the N advertisements delivered from the specified time to the current time is greater than the total playing time of the N basic advertisements, that is, the advertisements are played from the specified time to the current time. The surplus of the current advertisements is less than 0, which indicates that the total playing time length of the N advertisements delivered from the specified time to the current time is less than the total playing time length of the N basic advertisement time lengths, that is, the advertisements are not played from the specified time to the current time.
Optionally, the current advertisement margin may be statistically obtained for a plurality of users, may be statistically obtained for one user, or may be statistically obtained for one user group.
For example, the paid member may watch a basic advertisement for a short time when watching a video, and may not even need to watch the advertisement, and thus, the advertisement margin is small. The time length of the basic advertisement watched by the non-payment member when watching the video is longer, so that the advertisement surplus is larger. Based on this, the current advertisement excess amount can be counted separately for paid members and non-paid members.
In this embodiment of the application, after obtaining the current advertisement surplus, the server may compare the current load with the first threshold and the second threshold, respectively, and determine whether the current advertisement surplus is greater than 0.
In one possible case, if the current load is greater than the first threshold and the current advertisement surplus is greater than 0, the maximum advertisement duration is obtained, and the maximum advertisement duration is the longest advertisement duration allowed to be played, and then the advertisement duration of the target advertisement can be determined according to the maximum advertisement duration, the basic advertisement duration and the current load.
It should be noted that, when the server determines that the current load is greater than the first threshold, it may be determined that the current peak time is in, since there are many users watching videos in the peak time, in order to stagger the watching time of the users and reasonably use software and hardware resources, the advertisement time may be increased on the basis of the basic advertisement time, so as to obtain the advertisement time of the target advertisement.
As an example, the advertisement duration T of a targeted advertisement may be determined by the following formula (1) according to the maximum advertisement duration, the base advertisement duration, and the current loadp
Tp=Tb+(Tm-Tb)*Ls(1)
Wherein, TbBased on the length of the advertisement, TmFor maximum advertisement duration, LsIs the current load.
It should be noted that, as can be seen from the above formula 1, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is always smaller than the maximum advertisement duration, so that it is avoided that the determined advertisement duration of the target advertisement is too long, thereby affecting the viewing experience of the user.
Illustratively, it is assumed that the first threshold value stored by the server is 0.8, the second threshold value is 0.15, and the maximum advertisement duration obtained by the server is 60s, the base advertisement duration is 30s, the current load is 0.9, and the current advertisement surplus is 1015 s. Since the current load 0.9 is greater than the first threshold 0.8, it may be determined that there is a peak period and the current advertisement margin is greater than 0. Thus, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is determined to be 30+ (60-30) × 0.9 ═ 57s by the foregoing formula 1 according to the maximum advertisement duration 60s, the basic advertisement duration 30s, and the current load 0.9.
In another possible case, if the current load is less than the second threshold and the current advertisement surplus is greater than 0, the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement is determined according to the base advertisement duration and the current load.
It should be noted that when the server determines that the current load is smaller than the second threshold, it may be determined that the current load is in the low peak time period, and since the surplus of the current advertisement is greater than 0, that is, the advertisement is currently played more. Thus, to encourage users to choose to watch videos during low peak periods, the advertisement duration may be reduced based on the base advertisement duration, resulting in an advertisement duration for targeted advertisements.
As an example, the advertisement duration T of the targeted advertisement may be determined by the following formula (2) according to the maximum advertisement duration, the basic advertisement duration, and the current loadp
Tp=Tb*Ls(2)
Wherein, TbBased on the length of the advertisement, LsIs the current load.
Illustratively, it is assumed that the first threshold value stored by the server is 0.8, the second threshold value is 0.15, and the maximum advertisement duration obtained by the server is 60s, the base advertisement duration is 30s, the current load is 0.05, and the current advertisement margin is 1015 s. Since the current load 0.05 is less than the second threshold 0.15, it can be determined to be in the low peak period. Thus, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is determined to be 30 × 0.05 to 1.5s according to the base advertisement duration 30s and the current load 0.9 by the foregoing formula 2.
Alternatively, if the current load is less than the first threshold and greater than the second threshold, that is, the current load is between the first threshold and the second threshold, and the current advertisement margin is greater than 0, in this case, the base advertisement duration may be used as the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement. Optionally, it may also be determined that the current time is in the low peak time period, so that the implementation method for determining the advertisement duration of the target advertisement may refer to the implementation method for determining the target advertisement duration when the current load is smaller than the second threshold, which is not described herein again.
Alternatively, if the current advertisement surplus is less than 0, the server may directly determine the advertisement duration of the target advertisement according to the method for extending the advertisement duration, regardless of the current load size.
After the server determines the advertisement duration of the target advertisement, a first difference between the advertisement duration of the target advertisement and the basic advertisement duration can be determined, and the current advertisement surplus is updated according to the first difference.
In one possible scenario, if the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement is greater than the base advertisement duration, i.e., on the basis of the base advertisement duration, the advertisement duration is increased. At this time, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement may be subtracted from the basic advertisement duration to obtain a first difference, that is, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is increased by the advertisement duration compared with the basic advertisement duration. The current advertisement margin may then be added to the first difference value to obtain an updated current advertisement margin.
Specifically, the server may obtain the updated current advertisement surplus R according to the current advertisement surplus, the basic advertisement duration, the maximum advertisement duration, and the current load by using the following formula 3.
R=R’+(Tm-Tb)*Ls(3)
Wherein R' is the current advertisement margin before updating, TbBased on the length of the advertisement, TmFor maximum advertisement duration, LsAs the current load, (T)m-Tb)*LsI.e. a first difference between the advertisement time length of the targeted advertisement and the base advertisement time length.
Illustratively, continuing with the foregoing example of increasing the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement, the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement is determined to be 57s and the current advertisement margin is determined to be 1015 s. At this time, it may be determined that the first difference between the advertisement time length of the target advertisement and the base advertisement time length is 27 s. And adding the first difference value to the current advertisement surplus to obtain the updated current advertisement surplus of 1042 s. Optionally, the updated current advertisement surplus is determined to be 1015+ (60-30) × 0.9 ═ 1042s by the foregoing formula 3 according to the current advertisement surplus 1015s, the base advertisement duration 30s, the longest advertisement duration 60s, and the current load 0.9.
In another possible scenario, if the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement is less than the base advertisement duration, i.e., based on the base advertisement duration, the advertisement duration is reduced. At this time, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement may be subtracted from the basic advertisement duration to obtain a first difference, that is, the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is reduced from the basic advertisement duration. The first difference may then be subtracted from the current advertisement margin to obtain an updated current advertisement margin.
Specifically, the updated current advertisement surplus R can be obtained by the following formula 4 directly according to the current advertisement surplus, the basic advertisement duration and the current load.
R=R’-(Tb-Ls*Tb) (4)
Wherein R' is the current advertisement margin before updating, TbBased on the length of the advertisement, LsFor the current load, Tb-Ls*Tb) I.e. the time length of the advertisement time length of the target advertisement is reduced compared with the time length of the basic advertisement, i.e. the first difference.
Illustratively, continuing with the foregoing example in the case of reducing the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement, the advertisement duration of the targeted advertisement is determined to be 1.5s, and the current advertisement margin is determined to be 1015 s. At this time, it may be determined that the first difference between the advertisement time length of the target advertisement and the base advertisement time length is 28.5s, and the updated current advertisement surplus amount is 986.5s by subtracting the first difference from the current advertisement surplus amount. Optionally, the updated current advertisement surplus is determined to be 1015- (1-0.05) × 30 ═ 986.5s by the foregoing formula 4 according to the current advertisement surplus 1015s, the base advertisement duration 30s and the current load 0.05.
Step 203: and pushing the target advertisement to the terminal according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement.
After the server determines the advertisement duration of the target advertisement, the server can push the target advertisement with the determined advertisement duration to the terminal so as to enable the terminal to play the target advertisement.
It should be noted that the terminal may receive the target advertisement pushed by the server and play the target advertisement. When the advertisement duration of the target advertisement is longer than the basic advertisement duration, the terminal can display an advertisement closing option when the target advertisement is played until the duration is not shorter than the basic advertisement duration. Thereafter, the terminal may detect a selection operation by the user. When the selection operation of the user for the advertisement closing option is detected, the terminal can acquire the playing time length of the target advertisement and send the playing time length of the target advertisement to the server.
The server can receive the playing time length of the target advertisement fed back by the terminal, determine a second difference value between the playing time length of the target advertisement and the advertisement time length of the target advertisement, and update the current advertisement surplus according to the second difference value. The current advertisement surplus amount is the surplus amount which is updated once according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement before the target advertisement is pushed.
After the server receives the playing time of the target advertisement, the terminal displays the advertisement closing option when the playing time is not less than the basic advertisement time, so that the playing time of the target advertisement is not less than the basic advertisement time and not more than the advertisement time of the target advertisement. Therefore, the server can subtract the playing time length of the target advertisement from the advertisement time length of the target advertisement to obtain a second difference value, and subtract the second difference value from the current advertisement surplus amount to obtain the updated current advertisement surplus amount.
It should be noted that, since the server updates the current advertisement margin once every time an advertisement is pushed to the terminal, the server already updates the current advertisement margin according to the advertisement duration of the target advertisement. Therefore, when the server receives the playing time length of the target advertisement fed back by the terminal, the server indicates that the user performs selection operation on closing the advertisement, that is, the terminal does not finish playing the target advertisement. At this time, the server may determine the non-broadcast time length of the target advertisement according to the broadcast time length of the target advertisement, and subtract the non-broadcast time length of the target advertisement from the current advertisement surplus amount to update the current advertisement surplus amount.
Illustratively, continuing the foregoing example of increasing the advertisement duration of the target advertisement, the current advertisement surplus is 1042s, and it is assumed that the playing duration of the target advertisement received by the server and fed back by the terminal is 45 s. At this time, the server may subtract the playing time length of the target advertisement from the advertisement time length of the target advertisement to obtain a second difference of 57-45 ═ 12s, and then may subtract the second difference from the current advertisement margin to obtain an updated current advertisement margin 1042-12 ═ 1030 s.
Optionally, when the terminal does not detect the user's selection operation for closing the advertisement option, that is, the user views the complete target advertisement. In this case, the terminal does not need to send feedback information to the server, and likewise, the server does not need to update the current advertisement margin.
In the embodiment of the present application, when the current load of the server is greater than the first threshold, that is, in a peak period, the advertisement duration may be increased relative to the base advertisement duration to obtain the advertisement duration of the target advertisement. When the current load of the server is smaller than the second threshold value, namely in the low peak time period, the advertisement time length of the target advertisement can be obtained by reducing the advertisement time length relative to the basic advertisement time length. Therefore, on one hand, the users can be attracted to watch videos from the peak time to the low peak time, and on the other hand, due to the fact that the advertisement time lengths determined according to the loads at different moments are different in the peak time, the time for the users to watch the videos in the peak time can be staggered, so that software and hardware resources required to be deployed by the server can be reduced, and the idle cost of the software and hardware resources in the low peak time is reduced. In addition, in the embodiment of the application, only when the surplus amount of the current advertisement is greater than 0, the advertisement time of the target advertisement is possibly shorter than the basic advertisement time, so that the total advertisement time for playing can be ensured, and the situation that too many users select to watch videos in the low-peak time period, which results in the short total advertisement time for playing, is avoided.
