Abstract
A cover for a valve, comprising a wall made of plastic material on which is arranged a connector (3) allowing connection with a motor of the valve, said connector comprising a retaining element (4) in the shape of a fork comprising at least one rib (6) on either side of the base of the fork.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of covers, and more particularly to a retaining element in a cover for retaining a connection to a motor.
The invention has particular, but not exclusive, application in the automotive field. Such as those for canister purge valves, exhaust gas recirculation valves, air meters, throttle bodies, and generally all covers include a connection to a motor
Background
In the context of the present invention, the cover has the function of closing the body in which the motor is arranged. The cover includes a connector for connection to the motor. In some cases, the connection is achieved by a connector having a fork-shaped holding element. More specifically, the motor comprises a connecting element, for example a tongue-shaped connecting element, to be inserted between two teeth of the fork. A problem with this type of holding element is that the shape of the fork may change after cooling down during its manufacture. In practice, the position of the fork is achieved by positioning the insert in the mould. During cooling, the forks will tend to tilt in the mold without staying in the desired position, which can cause problems when connected to a motor. Lack of retention of the forks also causes problems of vibration and premature wear of the forks.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is therefore to overcome one or more of the drawbacks of the systems of the prior art by proposing an assembly for a motor, in particular a thermal motor, comprising an electric compressor which allows to improve both polluting emissions and fuel consumption during use of the vehicle, without requiring the installation of other devices.
To this end, the invention provides a cover for a valve, comprising a wall made of plastic material on which a connector is arranged that allows connection with a motor of the valve, the connector comprising a fork-shaped retaining element comprising at least one rib on either side of the base of the fork.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the retaining element comprises a base portion divided into two elongated teeth, the rib projecting perpendicularly with respect to the teeth of the fork.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the holding element is made of metal and the rib is made of plastic.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the holding element is planar.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the base of the retaining element is surrounded by a moulded plastic retaining wall.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the ribs are arranged to reach up to the split into 2 teeth and have the clearance necessary for closing the mould used for manufacturing the fork, the ribs being connected to the retaining walls of the base of the fork and forming one piece with them.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the retaining element comprises 2 ribs on each face of its base, these ribs being arranged at the base of each tooth, on either side of the base of each tooth.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the ribs are 6mm high and 1mm wide.
The invention also relates to a mould enabling the production of a connector with a retaining element according to the invention, the mould being configured to allow the formation of a rib.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a connector according to the invention by moulding.
Drawings
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be better understood and more clearly apparent from a reading of the description given below with reference to the accompanying drawings, given by way of example, in which:
FIG. 1 schematically illustrates an example of an environment in which the present invention may be implemented;
fig. 2a shows a front view of a holding element according to a first embodiment of the invention, and fig. 2b shows another front view;
FIG. 3 schematically illustrates another embodiment of the present invention;
fig. 4 schematically shows a mold for manufacturing a holding element according to the invention.
Detailed Description
FIG. 1 shows an example of an environment in which the present invention may be implemented.
In the example described, the cover 1 comprises a wall 2 made of plastic material, on which wall 2 various elements are arranged, and in particular the connector 3 comprises a connection element for maintaining a connection with the motor. The holding element is part of the connector (also called lead frame according to english terminology). The holding element is made of metal.
As shown in fig. 2a and 2b, the holding element 4 is fork-shaped. That is, it comprises a body 41 or base, which body 41 or base is divided into two elongated teeth 42, 43. Between these two elongated teeth 42,43, a further connecting element for connecting the motor, usually in the form of a connecting tongue, is inserted. The tines are flat and formed in the plate.
The base 41 of the retaining element is surrounded by a moulded plastic retaining wall 5.
In the context of the present invention, the retaining element 4 comprises at least one rib 6 on either side of the base 41 of the fork. That is, there is a rib 6 on each face of the base. The ribs 6 are parallel to the tines 42,43 of the fork. The ribs 6 are made of plastic.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the rib 6 is arranged to reach the split 44, which splits up into two teeth 42,43, with the clearance required for closing the mould used for manufacturing the fork. The rib is connected to and integral with the retaining wall of the base of the fork.
According to the embodiment of the invention shown in fig. 3, the retaining element 4 comprises 2 ribs on each face of its base, for a total of 4 ribs. In this case, the ribs 6 are arranged at the base of each tooth 42,43, on either side of the base of each tooth. The ribs 6 are connected to and integral with the retaining walls of the base of the fork.
According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the ribs are 6mm high and 1mm wide. The height is defined along an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth.
The invention also relates to a moulding method for manufacturing a connector with a retaining element and to a mould 10 as shown in figure 4.
The mold 10 for manufacturing a connector with a retaining element is configured to allow the formation of ribs. For this purpose it comprises grooves 11 on either side of the recess which allow to obtain the fork. When the fork is molded, the grooves are then filled with a plastic material, which then forms the ribs.
The scope of the invention is not limited to the details given above, and is susceptible of embodiment in many other specific forms without departing from the scope of the invention. Accordingly, the embodiments of the invention are to be considered as illustrative and may be modified without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
