Fig. 1 shows an application scenario of the method for automatically configuring a switch according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 1, the method for automatically configuring a switch according to an embodiment of the present invention is generally applied to a management system, which is disposed between a server and a switch and is in network communication with the server and the switch. The management system can execute the switch automation configuration method of the embodiment of the invention to complete the following operations shown in fig. 1: collecting server information (including network card information); collecting basic information of a switch; collecting port information; generating a configuration; and (4) data storage and the like.
The flow of using the management system to complete the switch is from a timing point of view as follows (assuming that the servers and the switch have completed physical wiring): firstly, a user configures a network card of a server, mainly configures a network card mode of the server; next, the user inputs the network card mode of the server into the management system; the management system automatically acquires server information, receives network card information input by a user, automatically acquires basic information and port information of the switch, generates configuration according to the information, and then sends the configuration to the configuration switch; the management system will then put the configuration in storage for later retrieval.
The embodiment of the present invention is applicable to the networking modes of the various switch access servers shown in fig. 2, but the networking mode of the switch access server to which the embodiment of the present invention is applicable is not limited to the networking mode of the switch access server shown in fig. 2. Here, the description will be made using only the networking mode of the switch access server shown in fig. 2 as a typical case.
Three typical switch access server networking modes are shown in fig. 2, namely (a) switch stack networking, (b) switch M-LAG networking, and (c) switch standalone networking. The switch stacking networking is mainly used in a scene that one server is connected to a stacking system formed by a plurality of switches; (b) the switch M-LAG networking is mainly used in a scene that one server is connected to a plurality of Ethernet interfaces of one switch; (c) the switch single-machine networking is mainly applied to the scene that one server is connected to a plurality of switches.
The following describes the method for automatically configuring a switch according to an embodiment of the present invention in detail with reference to fig. 3. As shown in fig. 3, the method includes: operation 310, receiving server network card configuration information, including a server network card mode; operation 320, automatically acquiring information required by the switch configuration, including a switch networking mode, a switch model of the switch, and physical connection information between the switch and the server; operation 330, automatically generating a configuration scheme according to the server network card configuration information and information required by the configuration switch; in operation 340, the configuration scheme is sent to the switch, and the switch is automatically configured according to the configuration scheme.
In operation 310, the server network card mode is a very important information that directly determines the specific configuration scheme of the switch. The network card mode of the server is generally divided into a main standby mode and a load balancing mode. Taking a server with two network cards as an example, the active/standby mode refers to that two network cards are one active/standby, and only the active network card has service traffic. In this mode, the switch side needs to configure the interface of the connection server to be divided into the same virtual lan. And the load balancing mode means that both network cards are in an active state to balance the load service flow. In this mode, the switch side needs to add an interface for connecting with the server to the Eth-Trunk interface and configure the Eth-Trunk interface as a dynamic LACP mode.
In operation 320, the information required to configure the switch includes mainly a networking mode of the switch, a switch model of the switch, and physical connection information of the switch and the server. The most typical and most common networking approach is shown in fig. 2. The switch models of the switches are different, and also different in terms of configuration commands, configuration parameters, and the like, and the switch and physical connection information mainly refers to network addresses, port numbers, and the like, which can be obtained through related network protocols. For example, the port connection condition of the server and the switch can be obtained through protocols such as LLDP; the basic information of the switch and the server can be obtained through interfaces or protocols such as Redfish, Intelligent Platform Management Interface (Intelligent Platform Management Interface), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the like.
In operation 330, the configuration scheme is usually a piece of code for configuring the switch, or a piece of instruction with a specific meaning, and may be executed directly or through some conversion. The automatic generation of the configuration scheme may be any manner, for example, generation by presetting a template, or generation by logically judging by a piece of code to generate configuration commands one by one according to different situations.
The goal of automatically configuring the switch is achieved by sending the configuration scheme to the switch and executing the configuration scheme on the switch at operation 340.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the method further comprises: and recording and storing the configuration scheme and the configuration result obtained by executing the configuration scheme.
In order to facilitate later review of the current configuration of the switch, the configuration performed is typically recorded and saved after the automatic configuration is successful. This can be done on the one hand as historical information for review analysis and on the other hand as a backup, which in some cases can be used to rollback or restore to a state. In the event of a failure of the auto-configuration, this operation can also be used to store error messages for the relevant technician to find the cause and repair the problem in time.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, automatically acquiring information required for configuring a switch includes: establishing connection with a switch or a server; the execution command automatically obtains information needed to configure the switch. For example, the currently used configuration content may be displayed by a display current-configuration command, and then necessary information may be acquired therefrom.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, automatically generating a configuration scheme according to server network card configuration information and information required for configuring a switch includes: searching an applicable preset template according to the network card configuration information of the server and the information required by the configuration switch; and automatically generating a configuration scheme by filling the server network card configuration information and the information required by the configuration switch into a preset template.
In this embodiment, a configuration scheme is automatically generated by using a preset template, and it is possible to use the same configuration command and parameter for the same model, the same product of the same manufacturer, or the same product of different manufacturers in the same server network card mode. In this case, the configuration command that can be executed in the actual environment can be automatically generated by combining a preset template with the variable parameters.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, before finding an applicable preset template according to the server network card configuration information and the information required for configuring the switch, the method further includes: creating a preset template according to a network card mode of a server, a networking mode of a switch and the model of the switch; and storing the preset template.
The preset template is typically generated based on a specific configuration file that successfully configures the switch. Generally, different values due to different execution environments, different manufacturers, different models and the like can be set as variables or placeholders, and in the execution environment, configuration files suitable for the current environment can be easily generated by giving actual values to the variables or replacing the placeholders with the actual values.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein automatically configuring the switch according to the configuration scheme includes: establishing connection with a switch; and according to the configuration scheme, executing a configuration command line instruction and configuring the switch.
Configuring the switch may be performed by command line instructions, such as the following:
interface eth-trunk 1
trunkport 10ge 1/0/1
mode lacp-static
dfs-group 1m-lag 1
stp edged-port enable
commit
