Abstract

An audio playing device and an operation method thereof are provided, the operation method is applied to the audio playing device and comprises the following steps: electrically coupled with the host through the bus; selecting first audio playing device information corresponding to the first bus transmission specification to respond to the host according to the state description element request of the host; judging whether an audio control function description element request instruction is received from the host; when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction, continuously responding to the state description element request of the host; and when the host does not receive the audio control function description element request instruction, judging that the host does not support the first bus transmission specification, electrically coupling with the host through the bus again, responding the host by using second audio playing device information corresponding to the second bus transmission specification according to the state description element request of the host, and continuously responding the state description element request of the host when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction.

Description

Audio playing device and operation method thereof
Technical Field
The present invention relates to audio playing technologies, and in particular, to an audio playing apparatus and an operating method thereof.
Background
Analog audio headset terminals used in many electronic products, such as smart phones, computers, tablet computers, and the like, are facing the trend toward digitization. Among them, the appearance of universal serial bus Type C (USB Type-C) is increasing the popularity of digital audio playback devices. However, the operating systems of some of the hosts may not support the latest bus transmission specification, so that the digital audio playback device cannot operate with the hosts.
Therefore, how to design a new audio playing device and its operation method to solve the above-mentioned disadvantages is an urgent problem to be solved in the industry.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention aims to provide an operation method of an audio playing device, which is applied to the audio playing device and comprises the following steps: electrically coupled with the host through the bus; selecting first audio playing device information corresponding to the first bus transmission specification to respond to the host according to the state description element request of the host; judging whether an audio control function description element request instruction is received from the host; when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction, continuously responding to the state description element request of the host; and when the host does not receive the audio control function description element request instruction, judging that the host does not support the first bus transmission specification, electrically coupling with the host through the bus again, responding the host by using second audio playing device information corresponding to the second bus transmission specification according to the state description element request of the host, and continuously responding the state description element request of the host when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an audio playing apparatus, comprising: a storage unit and a processing unit. The storage unit is configured to store a plurality of audio playing device information and application programs corresponding to a plurality of bus transmission specifications. The processing unit is electrically coupled to the storage unit and configured to acquire the application program to execute an audio playing device operation method, wherein the audio playing device operation method comprises the following steps: electrically coupled with the host through the bus; selecting first audio playing device information corresponding to the first bus transmission specification to respond to the host according to the state description element request of the host; judging whether an audio control function description element request instruction is received from the host; when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction, continuously responding to the state description element request of the host; and when the host does not receive the audio control function description element request instruction, judging that the host does not support the specific bus transmission specification, electrically coupling the host with the host through the bus again, responding the host with second audio playing device information corresponding to the second bus transmission specification according to the state description element request of the host, and continuously responding the state description element request of the host when the host receives the audio control function description element request instruction.
The invention has the advantages that the audio playing device can detect whether the host supports a specific bus transmission specification or not through the audio playing device and the operation method of the audio playing device, and when the host does not support the specific bus transmission specification, the audio playing device responds to the host by using other bus transmission specifications instead, so that the problem of compatibility is solved.

Detailed Description
Please refer to fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a block diagram of an audio playback device 10 and a host 12 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
In one embodiment, the audio playback device 10 can be, for example, but not limited to, a headset or a speaker, which can be used to receive and play audio data (not shown) from the host 12. The host 12 may be, for example, but not limited to, a desktop computer, a notebook computer, or a handheld electronic device such as a smart phone, a tablet computer, etc. which can be used to provide audio data.
In one embodiment, the audio playback device 10 is electrically coupled to the host 12 via the bus 14. More specifically, the bus 14 may be any connection interface that provides physical and electrical coupling between the audio playback device 10 and the host 12, and for transmitting data and commands. In one embodiment, the bus 14 may be a universal serial bus.
The audio playback apparatus 10 includes: a memory unit 100 and a processing unit 102.
The storage unit 100 is configured to store first audio playback device information 101, second audio playback device information 103, and an application 105. In one embodiment, the memory cell 100 may be a flash memory, a programmable read-only memory (PROM), or an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM). In other embodiments, the memory cell 100 may be implemented by other types of memories, or a hybrid memory cell including a plurality of different types of memories.
The first audio playback device information 101 corresponds to a first bus transmission specification, and the second audio playback device information 103 corresponds to a second bus transmission specification different from the first bus transmission specification. In one embodiment, when the bus 14 is a USB, the first bus transmission specification may be, for example, but not limited to, USB audio player type definition second edition (non-volatile bus device definition for audio devices v2.0), and the second bus transmission specification may be, for example, but not limited to, USB audio player type definition first edition (non-volatile bus device definition for audio devices v 1.0).
It should be noted that the type of the bus 14 and the first audio playback device information 101 and the second audio playback device information 103 are only an example. In other embodiments, the bus 14 may be other types of buses, and the first audio playback device information 101 and the second audio playback device information 103 may be the types of audio playback device information corresponding to the bus 14, respectively.
The processing unit 102 is electrically coupled to the memory unit 100 and is configured to access the memory unit 100. In one embodiment, the application 105 stored in the storage unit 100 may be, for example but not limited to, firmware, and is acquired by the processing unit 102 to execute a related operation program.
Please refer to fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a flowchart of an audio playback device operation method 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The audio playback device operating method 200 can be applied to the audio playback device 10 of fig. 1. In more detail, in an embodiment, the processing unit 102 of the audio playing device 10 may execute the application 105 after acquiring the application 105 stored in the storage unit 100, so as to further execute the audio playing device running method 200.
The audio playback apparatus operation method 200 includes the following steps (it should be understood that the steps mentioned in the present embodiment, except for the specific sequence mentioned above, can be performed simultaneously or partially simultaneously according to the actual requirement.
In step 201, the audio playback device 10 is electrically coupled to the host 12 through the bus 14.
In step 202, the audio playback device 10 selects the first audio playback device information 101 to respond to the host 12 according to the status descriptor request of the host 12. In one embodiment, the first audio playback device information 101 includes, for example, but not limited to, device description meta information (device descriptor)
And generalized configuration description meta information.
Please refer to fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram illustrating a communication procedure between the host 12 and the audio playback device 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the communication procedure shown in FIG. 3 is used to implement step 202 in FIG. 2.
First, the audio playback device 10 will receive a device description meta-request instruction 301 from the host 12. The audio playback device 10 will transmit the device description meta information 303 to the host 12. In one embodiment, the host 12 sends the device descriptor request command 301 to the audio playback device 10 at address 0. The audio playback device 10 performs bus enumeration (bus enumeration) by transmitting device descriptor information 303.
The audio player 10 will then receive the address setting command 305 from the host 12. In one embodiment, before the host 12 sends the address setting command 305, the audio playback device 10 is reset, and then the address setting command 305 is sent to assign a new address to the audio playback device 10 instead of the address 0.
The audio playback device 10 will again receive the device description meta request instruction 301 'from the host 12 and again transmit the device description meta information 303' to the host 12. In one embodiment, the host 12 sends the device descriptor request command 301' based on the newly set address.
Then, the audio playback device 10 receives the generalized configuration descriptor request 307 from the host 12 and accordingly transmits the generalized configuration descriptor information 309 to the host 12. In one embodiment, the generalized configuration descriptor 309 includes information corresponding to a first bus transmission specification. In detail, the generalized configuration description meta-information 309 includes, for example, but not limited to, configuration description meta-information, interface association description meta-information, audio control interface header description meta-information, audio control clock source unit description meta-information, audio control input port description meta-information, audio control output port description meta-information, endpoint description meta-information, audio stream interface description meta-information, audio stream format description meta-information, audio data endpoint description meta-information, or a combination thereof.
After the audio playback device 10 selects the first audio playback device information 101 to respond to the host 12 according to the status descriptor request of the host 12, in step 203, the audio playback device 10 determines whether an audio control function descriptor request command (not shown) is received from the host 12.
When the audio playback device 10 receives the audio control function descriptor request command from the host 12, the audio playback device 10 determines that the host 12 supports the first bus transmission specification. Therefore, in step 204, the audio playback device 10 will continue to respond to the request for the status descriptor of the host 12.
In one embodiment, the audio playback device 10 responds with audio control function descriptor (not shown) to the host 12. In one embodiment, the audio control function descriptor includes, for example, but not limited to, a current state of the mute control function, a minimum volume of the volume control function, a maximum volume of the volume control function, a stage adjustment of the volume control function, or a combination thereof. Also, the audio playback device 10 can communicate audio data with the host 12 in response to, for example, but not limited to, a request from the host 12 to play back audio.
When the audio playback device 10 does not receive the audio control function descriptor request command from the host 12, the audio playback device 10 determines that the host 12 does not support the first bus transmission specification.
Therefore, in step 205, the audio playback device 10 is electrically coupled to the host 12 again through the bus 14. In one embodiment, the audio playback device 10 disconnects the bus 14 from the host 12, and then electrically couples the host 12 through the bus 14. Further, the audio playing device 10 responds to the host 12 with the second audio playing device information 103 selectively or instead according to the request of the host 12, and continues to respond to the status descriptor request of the host 12 when receiving the audio control function descriptor request command from the host 12.
In one embodiment, the second bus transmission specification has a lower transmission capability than the first bus transmission specification. For example, the second bus transmission specification has a lower bandwidth than the first bus transmission specification. In other embodiments, the second bus transfer specification has a lower transfer rate than the first bus transfer specification.
In the prior art, when the host 12 does not support part of the bus transmission specification that can be supported by the audio playback device 10, the compatibility problem is caused, and the audio playback device 10 cannot be smoothly operated with the host 12. By the audio playback device 10 and the audio playback device operating method 200 of the present invention, the audio playback device 10 can detect whether the host 12 supports the specific bus transmission specification, and when the host 12 does not support the specific bus transmission specification, respond to the host 12 with other bus transmission specifications instead, so as to solve the problem of compatibility.
In the above embodiments, the storage unit 100 stores two pieces of audio playback device information corresponding to two bus transmission specifications as an example. In other embodiments, the storage unit 100 can store more than two pieces of audio playing device information, and corresponds to more than two bus transmission specifications, and determines whether each bus transmission specification is supported by the host 12, so as to adjust the adopted bus transmission specification accordingly.

Claims (10)

1. An audio playing device operating method is applied to an audio playing device and comprises the following steps:
electrically coupled to the host through a bus;
selecting a first audio playing device information corresponding to a first bus transmission specification to respond to the host according to a state description element request of the host;
judging whether an audio control function description element request instruction is received from the host;
when receiving the audio control function descriptor request command from the host, continuously responding to the state descriptor request of the host; and
when the audio control function descriptor request command is not received from the host, the host is judged not to support the first bus transmission specification, and is electrically coupled with the host through the bus again, and according to the request of the host, a second audio playing device information corresponding to a second bus transmission specification is used for responding to the host, and when the audio control function descriptor request command is received from the host, the state descriptor request of the host is continuously responded.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first and second audio playback device information respectively include a device descriptor and a generalized configuration descriptor, and the step of selecting the first and second audio playback device information to respond to the host further respectively includes:
receiving a device description meta request command from the host;
transmitting the device description meta information to the host;
receiving an address setting command from the host;
receiving the device descriptor request command from the host again;
transmitting the device description meta information to the host again;
receiving a generalized configuration descriptor request command from the host; and
transmitting the generalized configuration descriptor information to the host.
3. The method of claim 2, wherein the generalized configuration descriptor includes information corresponding to the first bus transmission specification when the first audio playback device information is selected in response to the host, and the generalized configuration descriptor includes information corresponding to the second bus transmission specification when the second audio playback device information is selected in response to the host.
4. The method of claim 2, wherein the generalized configuration descriptor comprises a configuration descriptor, an interface association descriptor, an audio control interface header descriptor, an audio control clock source unit descriptor, an audio control input port descriptor, an audio control output port descriptor, a endpoint descriptor, an audio stream interface descriptor, an audio stream format descriptor, an audio data endpoint descriptor, or a combination thereof.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second bus transmission specification has a bandwidth lower than the first bus transmission specification.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of continuing to respond to the request of the status descriptor of the host when receiving the request command of the audio control function descriptor from the host further comprises:
responding to an audio control function description meta-information; and
and carrying out audio data transmission with the host.
7. The method of claim 6, wherein the audio control function descriptor comprises a current status of a mute control function, a minimum volume control function, a maximum volume control function, a volume control function stage adjustment, or a combination thereof.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first bus transmission specification defines a second version for a USB audio playback device type and the second bus transmission specification defines a first version for a USB audio playback device type.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein when the audio control function descriptor request command is not received from the host, further comprising:
the electrical coupling between the bus and the host is disconnected, and then the bus is electrically coupled with the host again.
10. An audio playback apparatus comprising:
the storage unit is configured to store a plurality of pieces of audio playing device information corresponding to a plurality of bus transmission specifications and an application program; and
a processing unit electrically coupled to the storage unit and configured to obtain the application program to execute an audio playing device operation method, the audio playing device operation method comprising:
electrically coupled to the host through a bus;
selecting a first audio playing device information corresponding to a first bus transmission specification to respond to the host according to a state description element request of the host;
judging whether an audio control function description element request instruction is received from the host;
when receiving the audio control function descriptor request command from the host, continuously responding to the state descriptor request of the host; and
when the audio control function descriptor request command is not received from the host, the host is judged not to support the first bus transmission specification, and is electrically coupled with the host again through the bus, and a second audio playing device information corresponding to a second bus transmission specification is changed to respond to the host according to the state descriptor request of the host, and when the audio control function descriptor request command is received from the host, the state descriptor request of the host is continuously responded.
