With the increasing demand for environmental protection, the market for LNG transport vessels has expanded rapidly, and the No96 type containment system is a mature cargo tank technology, which has been in history for nearly 50 years. Since the technology is introduced from 2004 in China, 21 large LNG ships are successfully delivered at present.
Invar strakes are the main material of cargo tank membranes, and are welded together by seam welding with a latch, and an insulating layer is arranged below. In the operation process of the ship, the root of the invar strake must be closely attached to the surface of the insulating box so as to ensure good support.
However, in the actual welding process, the traditional process is manual lifting, and the gap or layer difference problem can be detected by using a special bracket (figure 1), but the problem cannot be avoided 100%. Once a defect occurs, the strake must be removed and reinstalled.
