The invention relates to a tension detection method of a tension device of a mobile trestle type belt conveyor, wherein the tension device is provided with a tension sensor on a steel wire rope between two fixed pulleys close to a winch, and the invention obtains the pressure difference of an oil circuit at an inlet and an outlet of a hydraulic motor in real time by installing a differential pressure sensor on a hydraulic motor (5) of the tension device, thereby calculating the tension of the steel wire rope, and comparing the tension with the tension of the steel wire rope measured by the tension sensor on the steel wire rope, thus judging whether the tension sensor has faults or not.
