The invention discloses a light self-leveling mortar and a preparation method thereof, wherein the light self-leveling mortar is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 270kg of Portland cement, 100kg of high-alumina cement, 30kg of hydrated lime, 40kg of anhydrous anhydrite, 420kg of quartz sand, 24kg of vitrified micro bubbles, 100kg of calcium carbonate, 8kg of plasticizer, 2kg of tartaric acid, 1kg of defoamer, 1kg of lithium carbonate, 3kg of water reducer polycarboxylic acid, 1kg of cellulose ether and 20-25% of dry-mixed mortar water. The mortar is produced and molded in a factory, only water is needed to be added and stirred on site, the product has high strength, the surface is smooth and film-forming, and dust and dirt do not appear after wood floors or other decorative materials are paved.
