Detailed Description
The same reference numbers in the various drawings identify the same or similar items.
The above three embodiments relate to a car seat 1 including a seat cushion 2 mounted on a floor P of a vehicle and a seat back 3 mounted on the seat cushion 2 or other components fixed to a vehicle body. The seat back 3 can be tilted as a whole by pivoting about a transverse axis Y located at the bottom of the seat back, by means of a known manual mechanism or motorized articulation mechanism.
The seat back 3 here comprises a lower part 4 and an upper part 5. The inclination of the upper part 5 from front to back is adjustable within a certain inclination range relative to the lower part 4. More specifically, the upper portion 5 can be pivotally mounted on the lower portion 4 about a transverse Y' axis parallel to the above-mentioned Y axis, by means of a manual or electric articulation mechanism, as is known.
The lower portion 4 of the seat back includes a lower garnish 4b on the front side, the lower garnish 4b being adapted to serve as a support for a user sitting on the seat 1, and a lower housing 4a on the rear side opposite to the lower garnish 4 b.
Similarly, the upper portion 5 of the seat back includes an upper garnish 5b on the front side, the upper garnish 5b being adapted to serve as a support for a user sitting on the seat 1, and an upper housing 5a on the rear side opposite to the upper garnish 5 b.
As shown in fig. 3A and 3B (which show details from fig. 3 but apply to all embodiments), the lower shell 4a and the upper shell 5a each have a semi-rigid multi-layer structure comprising a flexible outer skin, 4a1,5a1, respectively, towards the outside of the seat 1, and an inner synthetic foam layer, 4a2,5a2, adhered to the outer skin 4a1,5a1, respectively, towards the inside of the seat back 1.
Semi-rigid is understood to mean a structure having a non-negligible resistance to deformation (and therefore stiffer than a fabric or the like) so as to have a certain retention force, but which can still be conveniently deformed by bending (and therefore less stiff than a rigid plastic shell).
A flexible skin is understood to mean a skin which has negligible resistance to deformation by bending.
The skins 4a1,5a1 may be made of a material selected from among textiles, leather or continuous synthetic materials (synthetic leather, plastic coated fabric, vinyl or others).
The inner layer of synthetic foam 4a2,5a2 may be polyurethane or other foam.
An inner layer of synthetic foam 4a2,5a2 may be sprayed on the inner surface of the outer skins 4a1,5a 1.
The inner layer of synthetic foam 4a2,5a2 may have a thickness of between 1 and 50mm, for example between 2 and 15 mm.
The multilayer structure may further comprise a structured layer on the rear side, for example a nonwoven, in particular a nonwoven based on glass fibers.
An example of a material that can be used for manufacturing the lower case 4a and the upper case 5a is given in document FR 2,934,256.
In the first and third embodiments (fig. 1-3 and 7-9, respectively), the lower shell 4a comprises an upper edge 4c and the upper shell 5a comprises a lower edge 5c, the upper edge 4c and the lower edge 5c being separated from each other by a free space within at least a certain inclination of the upper portion 5. The lower housing 4a is connected to the upper housing 5a by means of flexible walls 7,10, which flexible walls 7,10 shield the interior of the seat back 3 in the region of said free space.
In the first and third embodiments, the flexible walls 7,10 may be fabric, elastomer or other plastic.
The flexible walls 7,10 may be connected to the housing 4a, 5a by any known means, for example by means of attachments 7a, 10a, 11, such as stitching, adhesive, welding or other means.
The flexible walls 7,10 may be deformed to allow the upper part 5 of the seat back to pivot in the direction of the double arrow 8.
In the first embodiment of fig. 1 to 3, said flexible wall 7 is arranged to form a continuity between the lower shell 4a and the upper shell 5a by screening said free space between the edges 4c, 5 c.
The flexible wall 7 may for example have the shape of a bellows, as shown in fig. 3.
In the third embodiment of fig. 7 to 9, said flexible wall 10 extends from the lower edge 5c of the upper shell 5a down to the interior of the lower shell 4a down to the lower end of the flexible wall 10, which lower end of the flexible wall 10 is fixed to said lower shell 4a, for example by means of a seam 11. The flexible wall 10 defines, together with the lower shell 4a, a storage pocket 9 which is open upwards in the vicinity of the free space between the edges 4c, 5 c.
In this third embodiment, the upper edge 4c of the lower casing can be separated from the lower edge 5c of the upper casing by a free space throughout the entire range of inclination of the upper part 5.
In a third embodiment, the flexible wall 10 may be adapted to stretch elastically with the inclination of the upper part 5.
In the second embodiment shown in fig. 4 to 6, the lower casing 4a includes an upper boundary 4d, and the upper casing 5a includes a lower boundary 5d, wherein the lower boundary 5d and the upper boundary 4d of the upper casing 5a are arranged to cover each other throughout the entire inclination range of the upper part 5. In particular, the lower border 5d of the upper shell 5a may cover the upper border 4 d.
The borders 4d, 5d are slidable relative to each other to allow the upper part 5 of the seat back to pivot in the direction of the double arrow 8.
The upper boundary 4d of the lower shell 4a may have a circular-arc profile centered on the pivot axis Y', while the lower edge 5c of the upper shell 5a is arranged on or in close proximity to the upper boundary 4 d.
