Abstract
The invention discloses a flexible display panel. The flexible display panel comprises a display area and a non-display area, wherein at least one special-shaped cutting area is arranged on the flexible display panel, and the non-display area comprises the special-shaped cutting area; the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and wiring, and the at least one circuit area is adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area. In the flexible display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention, the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and routing wires, and the at least one circuit area is adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area, so that the non-special-shaped edge of the flexible display panel realizes the frameless design, and the frameless display of the flexible display panel at the non-special-shaped edge is ensured.
Description
Technical Field
The embodiment of the invention relates to a display technology, in particular to a flexible display panel and a flexible display device.
Background
With the development of science and technology, people have more and more diversified screen display requirements, people no longer only meet the conventional performance indexes of large size, high definition and the like of a display panel, but have higher requirements on the appearance of the display panel, such as a wearable display and a special-shaped display screen which is easily equipped on an automobile instrument panel.
The special-shaped display screen is usually formed by performing special-shaped cutting on the display panel to form a special-shaped display area, and the area formed by the special-shaped cutting is usually used for placing other functional structures in the display panel, so that the display area of the display screen is embedded with the boundary of the functional structure area.
In order to increase the display area of the conventional display screen, a circuit area is usually disposed at the lower edge of the display panel, and after the display screen is bent by using a flexible electrical connection material, the circuit in the circuit area of the display panel is electrically connected to a driving circuit disposed on the opposite side of the light emitting surface of the display panel, so that the driving circuit is partially disposed on the back of the light emitting surface of the display panel. However, for the special-shaped display screen, when the circuit area is arranged at the non-special-shaped edge of the special-shaped display screen, the bent flexible electric connection material still occupies a certain space, so that the non-special-shaped edge of the special-shaped display screen still has a certain frame area, and the expansion of the non-special-shaped edge display is influenced.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention provides a flexible display panel and a flexible display device, which are used for realizing frameless display of the flexible display panel on a non-special-shaped edge.
In a first aspect, an embodiment of the present invention provides a flexible display panel, including: the flexible display panel is provided with at least one special-shaped cutting area, and the non-display area comprises the special-shaped cutting area;
the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and wiring, and the at least one circuit area is adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area.
Optionally, the non-display area includes at least one bending portion, the bending portion includes one circuit area, and the bending portion is formed by cutting the display panel along the special-shaped cutting area.
Optionally, the bending portion is bent to a side of the display panel opposite to the light emitting surface.
Optionally, a circuit area adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area is provided with a binding terminal, and the binding terminal is used for binding a driving chip and/or a flexible electrical connection component;
optionally, the flexible electrical connection member is a chip on film.
Optionally, the flexible electrical connection component is a flexible circuit board.
Optionally, a plurality of fan-out traces and/or circuit elements for testing are further disposed on the circuit region adjacent to the irregular cutting region.
Optionally, the plurality of fan-out traces include test lines, and the test lines are used for performing line detection on the flexible display panel.
Optionally, the at least one profiled cutting area is located at an edge and/or inside the display area.
Optionally, the shaped cutting zone shape comprises a semi-ellipse, a circle, a rectangle, a rounded rectangle, a diamond, and a triangle.
In a second aspect, an embodiment of the present invention further provides a flexible display device, including the display panel according to any one of the first aspects.
The flexible display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises a non-display area provided with at least one special-shaped cutting area, wherein the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and wiring, and the circuit area of the special-shaped display screen is arranged at the edge of the special-shaped cutting area by adjoining the at least one circuit area with the special-shaped cutting area, so that the frame area of the non-special-shaped edge is effectively removed under the condition of not influencing the conventional use of the special-shaped edge, and the display of the non-special-shaped edge is expanded.

Detailed Description
The present invention will be described in further detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. It is to be understood that the specific embodiments described herein are merely illustrative of the invention and are not limiting of the invention. It should be further noted that, for the convenience of description, only some of the structures related to the present invention are shown in the drawings, not all of the structures.
Fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a flexible display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, fig. 2 is a schematic structural diagram of a dashed-line frame of the flexible display panel shown in fig. 1, fig. 3 is a schematic structural diagram of a cross section of a portion of the flexible display panel shown in fig. 2 along AA', referring to fig. 1 to 3, the flexible display panel includes a display area 11 and a non-display area 12, the flexible display panel is provided with at least one irregular cutting area 121, and the non-display area 12 includes the irregular cutting area 121; the non-display area 12 includes at least one circuit area 122 provided with circuit elements and traces, and the at least one circuit area 122 is adjacent to the shaped cutting area 121.
The special-shaped cutting area is an area formed by cutting a flexible display panel with a standard shape, for example, the flexible display panel with the standard shape is rectangular, the flexible display panel is cut to form a notch, the area where the notch is located is the special-shaped cutting area, the special-shaped cutting area can be irregular, and the special-shaped cutting area can keep a space for functional components of the display device. The existing special-shaped cutting technology comprises R-angle cutting, U-shaped slotting cutting, C-angle cutting and the like, so that an R-angle special-shaped cutting area, a U-shaped special-shaped cutting area and a C-angle special-shaped cutting area are formed, and the purpose of the special-shaped cutting technology mainly comprises two aspects: on one hand, the four corners of the screen are cut into C corners or R corners, and meanwhile, edge reinforcement is carried out by adding buffer foam and the like to prevent screen breakage. On the other hand, the U-shaped cutting is needed to be carried out above the screen, and space is reserved for optical elements or sensing elements such as a front camera, a distance sensor and a receiver. Taking fig. 1-3 as an example, the irregular cutting area can be used to set a position space for optical elements and sensing elements of display devices such as mobile phones and flat panels. The circuit area may be provided with a scan driving circuit and/or a data driving circuit, for example, fig. 1 shows a data line 111 located in the display area 11, the data line 111 is taken up to the non-display area 12 through a fan-out trace, and then connected with a circuit element and a trace arranged in the circuit area 122 through the fan-out trace, so as to implement electrical connection with the data driving circuit, etc., the data driving circuit outputs a data signal voltage to the data line 111, and the display pixels may be controlled by the data driving circuit, so as to implement image display. Similarly, the display area further includes a plurality of signal lines such as scan lines, the scan lines and the data lines intersect to define a plurality of pixels, the scan lines can be connected to the scan driving circuit in the circuit area through a wire, the scan driving circuit outputs scan signals to the pixels, and the data driving circuit outputs data signal voltages to the pixels during the period of transmitting the scan signals to the pixels, so that charging display of the pixels is achieved.
It should be noted that the non-display area border generated by the non-anisotropic edge (i.e. the edge that is not subjected to anisotropic cutting, including the left and right edges and the lower edge as shown in fig. 1) of the flexible display panel is a border generated by normal wiring, and the border is narrow and can be used for a border-free design; the non-display area adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area, namely the special-shaped edge, is provided with a circuit area, and the width of a special-shaped edge frame generated by the circuit area is slightly wider than that of a non-different edge frame due to the fact that the circuit area is provided with a binding terminal, a fan-out area and the like.
The flexible display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises a non-display area provided with at least one special-shaped cutting area, wherein the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and wiring, and the circuit area of the special-shaped display screen is arranged at the edge of the special-shaped cutting area by adjoining the at least one circuit area with the special-shaped cutting area, so that the frame area of the non-special-shaped edge is effectively removed under the condition of not influencing the conventional use of the special-shaped edge, and the display of the non-special-shaped edge is expanded.
Fig. 4 is a schematic structural diagram of another partial flexible display panel provided in an embodiment of the present invention, and referring to fig. 4, optionally, in the flexible display panel, a circuit region 122 adjacent to the shaped cutting region 121 is provided with a binding terminal 1221, and the binding terminal 1221 is used for binding a driver chip and/or a flexible electrical connection component.
The binding terminal 1221 receives data signal lines, scanning signal lines, and the like in the display area 11, and the binding terminal 1221 may directly bind the driver chip, for example, the driver chip is bound on the display panel through a special-shaped conductive adhesive, and the terminal of the driver chip is connected to the binding terminal correspondingly, or connected to the driver chip through a flexible electrical connection component.
Alternatively, the flexible electrical connection component may be a flip chip, a flexible circuit board, etc., and those skilled in the art can select the flexible electrical connection component according to actual situations.
Specifically, fig. 5 is a schematic structural diagram of another partial flexible display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 5, a circuit area 1221 adjacent to the irregular cutting area 121 is provided with a plurality of fan-out traces 122 and/or a test circuit element, the test circuit element is not shown, the test circuit element may include a plurality of thin film transistors, test pads, and test lines, and the display panel may be tested in a process of manufacturing the display panel. The test lines can be arranged in the fan-out wires and used for carrying out line detection on the flexible display panel, and the test process can include test processes such as aging, lighting inspection and leakage current inspection.
In the above embodiments, a portion of the display panel is cut away to form the irregular cut region, that is, a portion of the display panel corresponding to the irregular cut region is completely cut away to form the irregular cut region. In other embodiments of the embodiment of the present invention, a portion corresponding to the special-shaped cutting region may not be completely cut, but is connected to other portions of the display panel, for example, fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of a back surface structure of a portion of the flexible display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 7 is a schematic diagram of a cross-sectional structure of the flexible display panel shown in fig. 6 along BB', where the back surface represents a surface of the display panel opposite to the light emitting surface. Referring to fig. 6 and 7, optionally, the non-display area 12 includes at least one bending portion 123, the bending portion 123 includes a circuit area 124, the bending portion 123 is a portion corresponding to the irregular cutting area 121, the bending portion 123 is formed by cutting the display panel along an edge of the irregular cutting area 121, the bending portion 123 is not completely cut, and a portion of a connection area is reserved between the bending portion 123 and other portions of the display panel. As shown in fig. 6 and 7, optionally, the bending portion 123 is bent to a side opposite to the light emitting surface of the display panel.
The panel is cut into the bending part along the special-shaped cutting area, the circuit elements and the wires are distributed on the bending part, for example, a binding area and a fan-out area are arranged on the bending part, a connecting area is reserved between the bending part and the panel, and the circuit elements and the wires are connected with the wires arranged on the circuit area in the non-display area through the connecting area. Optionally, the bent circuit element and the trace may be encapsulated and protected by an encapsulation material such as silicon gel. Specifically, the bending part can be further provided with a binding area for receiving data signal lines, scanning signal lines and the like in the display panel and binding the data signal lines, the scanning signal lines and the like with the driving chip, specifically, the binding area can be provided with binding terminals, the binding terminals are also called binding pads, the fan-out area is provided with a plurality of fan-out wires, the binding terminals are connected to the data signal lines or the scanning signal lines through the fan-out wires, the terminals of the driving chip are bound and connected with the binding terminals, and signals generated by the driving chip are transmitted to the data signal lines or the scanning signal lines connected with the fan-out wires through the binding terminals and the fan-out wires; or connected to the back side driving circuit through a flexible connecting member. Generally, after the flexible connection component is bound in the circuit area of the non-display area, the flexible connection component needs to be bent to the back surface of the display panel and electrically connected with the driving circuit on the back surface, so as to control the display panel. The bending part provided by the embodiment of the invention can replace a flexible connecting part for connecting a front binding area and a back driving circuit of the flexible display panel, such as a flexible circuit board and the like, and the binding terminals, circuit elements, routing wires and the like are arranged on the bending part, so that the area of a non-display area adjacent to a special-shaped cutting area can be reduced, namely the width of a special-shaped edge is reduced, the narrow frame design of the special-shaped edge is realized, the utilization rate of the panel is improved to a certain extent, and the display area of the display panel is increased.
Fig. 8 to 11 are schematic structural diagrams of various flexible display panels provided by embodiments of the present invention, and as shown in fig. 8 to 11, a flexible display panel includes at least one irregular cut region 121 located at an edge and/or inside of the display region 11. By setting the special-shaped cutting areas at different positions, the use requirements of special-shaped flexible display panels in different scenes can be met, taking fig. 8 as an example, the arrangement of the two special-shaped side edges in the flexible display panel shown in the figure can be used for reducing the shielding of fingers in the handheld display panel, or the arrangement of the control areas on the two special-shaped side edges is used for being closer to the fingers for convenient operation; taking fig. 9, fig. 10 and fig. 11 as an example, the panel is provided with a special-shaped cutting area in the center, and can be used as a vehicle-mounted display screen, the vehicle-mounted display screen is provided with a control panel in the center position, and the control panel is nested with the special-shaped flexible display panel through the special-shaped cutting area of the flexible panel.
Optionally, the shape of the special-shaped cutting area of the flexible display panel can be a semi-ellipse, a circle, a rectangle, a rounded rectangle, a diamond, a triangle and the like, and through reasonable arrangement, at least one circuit area including circuit elements and wiring can be arranged in the non-display area of the display panel, so that the at least one circuit area is adjacent to the special-shaped cutting areas with various shapes, and the flexible display panel can be designed by a person skilled in the art according to actual conditions, and is not described herein any more.
It is to be noted that the foregoing is only illustrative of the preferred embodiments of the present invention and the technical principles employed. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments described herein, but is capable of various obvious changes, rearrangements and substitutions as will now become apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention. Therefore, although the present invention has been described in greater detail by the above embodiments, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and may include other equivalent embodiments without departing from the spirit of the present invention, and the scope of the present invention is determined by the scope of the appended claims.
Claims (9)
1. A flexible display panel, comprising: the flexible display panel is provided with at least one special-shaped cutting area, and the non-display area comprises the special-shaped cutting area;
the non-display area comprises at least one circuit area provided with circuit elements and wiring, and the at least one circuit area is adjacent to the special-shaped cutting area;
the non-display area comprises at least one bending part, the bending part comprises a circuit area, and the bending part is formed by cutting the display panel along the special-shaped cutting area;
the bending part is bent to one side opposite to the light emitting surface of the display panel;
a binding area is arranged on the bending part, and a binding terminal is arranged in the binding area;
the binding terminal is connected with a data signal line or a scanning signal line in the display area, and the binding terminal is directly bound with the driving chip or is connected with the driving chip through a flexible electric connecting component.
2. The flexible display panel of claim 1, wherein a circuit area adjacent to the shaped cutting area is provided with a binding terminal for binding a driving chip and/or a flexible electrical connection component.
3. The flexible display panel of claim 2, wherein the flexible electrical connection component is a flip-chip film.
4. The flexible display panel of claim 2, wherein the flexible electrical connection component is a flexible wiring board.
5. The flexible display panel of claim 2, wherein a circuit area adjacent to the shaped cut area is further provided with a plurality of fan-out traces and/or test circuit elements.
6. The flexible display panel of claim 5, wherein the plurality of fan-out traces comprise test lines, the test lines configured to perform line testing on the flexible display panel.
7. The flexible display panel of claim 1, wherein the at least one shaped cut region is located at an edge and/or inside the display region.
8. The flexible display panel of claim 1, wherein the shaped cut out shapes comprise semi-elliptical, circular, rectangular, rounded rectangular, diamond, and triangular shapes.
9. A flexible display device comprising the display panel according to any one of claims 1 to 8.
