The patient is fixed to the bed 21 by a body fixing mechanism. In use, the trolley is first moved to the side of the operating table 7, the side of the bed 21 provided with the hinge 22 being adjacent to the operating table 7. The height of the bed 21 is raised by the lifting module 1 so that the height of the connecting piece 31 is exactly flush with the edge of the operating table 7.
