Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to a device for drying sheets.
Background
The invention is in the field of drying printed sheets of printing material (e.g. provided with printing colours, varnishes or inks).
Document DE 4218421 a1 discloses a device for guiding sheets in a feeder of a printing press. The device comprises a circulating conveyor chain and a sheet gripper arranged thereon for the front edge of the sheet to be guided and a rear gripper for the rear edge thereof. The sheets are guided through a dryer, which discharges blowing air in the direction of the sheets. These sheets are to be guided reliably on a straight transport path and are held taut (draft) there.
Dryers are also known which generate electromagnetic radiation, in particular Infrared Radiation (IR), instead of blowing air.
In the prior art, the problem may arise that an uncontrolled change in the distance between the sheet to be dried and the dryer due to the sheet sagging can lead to an undesirably changing drying result (for example uneven curing of the uv ink) and thus to a reduction in the quality of the printed product. This problem may occur particularly in large and very large sheet sizes.
Disclosure of Invention
Against this background, the object of the invention is to provide an apparatus which is improved compared to the prior art and which makes it possible in particular to: the spacing of the sheet (or its surface) from the dryer is maintained substantially constant during drying.
The technical scheme of the invention is as follows:
this object is achieved by the device according to the invention.
Advantageous and further preferred developments of the invention result from the description and the drawing.
The invention relates to a device for drying sheets, comprising:
-a first gripper bridge for fastening a leading edge of a sheet;
-a second gripper bridge for simultaneously fastening the rear edges of the sheets;
a dryer disposed on one side of a conveying path of the sheet; and
a blowing device which is arranged on the other side of the transport path and which generates blowing air in such a way that a sheet section located between the leading edge and the trailing edge is pushed towards the dryer.
The invention advantageously enables: the spacing of the sheet (or its surface facing the dryer) from the dryer is kept substantially constant during drying, and as a result undisturbed drying results are achieved and correspondingly high quality printing results can be produced. The blowing air can advantageously tension the sheet and, for example, convert it from a concave (uncontrolled sagging) shape into a convex (controlled tensioned) shape.
The control of the blowing air can preferably be effected in dependence on operating parameters, wherein the following parameters can be taken into account: grammage of the sheet, conveying speed of the sheet, and/or Format of the sheet. In addition, it can be provided that the position of the blowing device with respect to the sheet and/or the gripper bridge is taken into account. Furthermore, the time of the blowing of air (Taktung) can be set. Such a beat may be a beat that is simply turned on/off in the presence/absence of a sheet. The intensity of the blowing air can also be varied, preferably over the length of the sheet. Finally, the intensity of the blowing air can be set and/or varied individually for each air source in the case of two air sources (for example air knives). Control devices can be provided for the measures listed here.
Instead of drying the sheets, the invention can also be applied to dusting (spraying of powder), moistening (spraying of water) or cutting (longitudinal cutting) of the sheets.
The improvement scheme of the invention is as follows:
a preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the blowing device comprises an air knife. The air doctor may be a tube arranged transversely to the sheet transport direction, the tube having spaced apart air exit openings, the tube being attached to the blowing air supply device. Alternatively or in addition to the air scraper, the blowing device can be configured as a (one-dimensional) fan strip or as a (two-dimensional) fan zone (for example consisting of two or more transversely arranged fan rows), transverse to the sheet transport direction, wherein each individual fan of the fan strip or fan zone can be configured as a fan (for example an axial fan), in particular with an individually controllable electric drive.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the blowing device comprises at least two air knives. The directions of the respective outflowing air may be parallel. Preferably, the scrapers are slightly inclined pointing away from each other. Alternatively, a zone of blowing nozzles can also be employed.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the apparatus comprises a suction device.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the suction device is arranged on such a side of the transport path: a dryer is also provided on this side.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the suction device is arranged upstream and/or downstream of the dryer in the conveying direction.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the dryer is an LED dryer and/or an ultraviolet dryer.
A preferred development of the invention can be characterized in that the transport path extends in the region of the blowing device essentially along a straight section or essentially along a curved section or a circular section (Kreisabschnitt).
The features of the invention, the improvements of the invention and the embodiments of the invention are advantageous improvements of the invention in any combination with one another. The improvements of the invention can furthermore be provided with individual features or combinations of features disclosed in the above sections of the "technical field" and "background".
Drawings
The invention and its preferred modifications are further described below in accordance with preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings. Features that correspond to each other are provided with the same reference numerals in the figures. The figures show:

FIG. 3: preferred embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention; and
FIG. 4: preferred embodiments of the device according to the invention.
Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows a printing press 1 or sheet delivery 2 for transporting sheets 3 of printing material on a sheet guide path or transport path 4. The collector is a double gripper sheet collector (Doppelgreifer-bogenausleeger). The transported sheets are, for example, made of paper, cardboard or film. The conveying path 4 is in the example shown a straight section 4 c.
The sheet start 3a (or the front edge of the sheet) is held (e.g., clamped) by a first (or front) gripper bridge 5 a. Accordingly, the sheet end 3c (or the rear edge of the sheet) is held (e.g., clamped) by the second (or rear) gripper bridge 5 b.
Fig. 1 illustrates the problem that the sheet central portion 3b may sag and the spacing a of the sheet (or its surface) from the dryer 6 may increase. The dryer is arranged on the first side 4a of the transport path. The dryer is preferably an LED dryer and preferably radiates in the ultraviolet range. The radiation 7 exits through the exit window 6a of the dryer. The spacing a may be defined as the spacing between the outer surface of the exit window and the surface of the sheet facing the window.
It can be seen that the spacing a changes in the case of a sheet sagging. Thereby, the drying result also changes. This is undesirable.
Fig. 2 shows a printing press 1 or a sheet feeder 2, which conveys a sheet 3 on a circular section 4d (generally a non-linear section or a curved section) of a conveying path 4. In this example, it can also be seen that the spacing a changes undesirably in the event of a sheet drop.
Fig. 3 shows a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention, in which a sheet 3 is transported on a straight section 4c of the transport path 4. A blowing device 8 is provided according to the invention on a second (further or opposite) side 4b of the transport path 4. In the example shown, the blowing device comprises two air knives 8a and 8 b. These blowing devices 8 supply blowing air 9 (in particular a first air stream 9a and a second air stream 9b) to the underside of the sheet 3 (i.e. the side facing away from the dryer 6). The central sheet part 3b is pushed by blowing air toward the dryer 6 according to the invention. Thereby, the interval a becomes smaller (compared to fig. 1) and in particular substantially constant (i.e. without interval variations interfering with the drying process). The dried printed product thus has no appreciable quality reduction. This is advantageous. Instead of the air scrapers 8a and 8b shown (or in addition) a fan row 8 or a fan zone 8 can also be provided.
In fig. 3, one or more suction devices 10 can optionally be arranged on the side 4 a. The one or more suction devices 10 can support the displacement of the central sheet part 3b toward the dryer 6 by suction. For example, the suction device may be arranged before the dryer 6 (or its housing 6b) in the conveying direction 4. Alternatively, two suction devices may be provided in the housing before and after the dryer.
Also shown in fig. 3, a further (third) air doctor 8c can optionally be provided. The air doctor 8c is preferably arranged on the second side 4b of the transport path 4 in the transport direction 4 before the dryer housing 6b of the dryer 6, and it is advantageously possible to achieve: for the dryer 6, the sheet 3 is already loaded with blowing air 9 and the sheet 3 is thereby tensioned and/or smoothed.
Fig. 4 shows a further preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention, in which the sheet 3 is transported on a circular segment 4d of the transport path 4. In this example, a blowing device 8 (preferably with two air knives 8a and 8b) is provided according to the invention on the (further or opposite) side 4b of the transport path 4. Also in this example one or more suction devices 10 can optionally be provided. Instead of the air scrapers 8a and 8b shown, (or in addition) a fan row 8 or a fan zone 8 can also be provided.
As can be seen from fig. 4, in the case of a sheet 3 transported on a circle segment 4d, the drying according to the invention with the aid of blowing air is particularly advantageous, since the sheet 3 lies essentially completely against the circle segment and the distance a can be kept almost ideally constant.
The blowing device 8 according to fig. 3 or 4 can also comprise only one single air knife. The illustrated example with two air knives 8a and 8b is however preferred in particular if these knives are slightly (pointing away from each other) inclined as illustrated.
