Background
The cerebral apoplexy is also called as "apoplexy" and "cerebrovascular accident", and is an acute cerebrovascular disease, which is a group of diseases that cause brain tissue injury due to sudden rupture of cerebral blood vessels or failure of blood to flow into the brain due to vessel blockage. Investigation shows that cerebral apoplexy is the first cause of death in China, is also the primary cause of disability of adults in China, and has the characteristics of high morbidity, high mortality and high disability rate. For cerebral apoplexy patients, the activation of the anterior calf muscle group (anterior tibial muscle) and the lateral muscle group (long short fibula) is insufficient, disuse muscle atrophy occurs to the muscles, so that dorsum extension is difficult, and foot drop is caused, the foot drop is one of the signs of bone surgery, the patient sits down, and the two lower limbs naturally hang down, if the foot is in plantarflexion position and can not actively dorsiflex and turn inwards and outwards at all, the foot drop is caused. Foot drop is caused by paralysis of anterior and lateral muscle groups of the lower leg, and spasticity of the posterior muscle group of the lower leg, and is manifested by inability to dorsiflex the foot, and is disadvantageous for such patients to walk up and down stairs and daily life because the foot drop always comes into contact with the ground at the toe when walking or dragging the diseased foot or lifting the lower limb higher. In recent years, a few related medical research reports indicate that in early treatment, limbs of a cerebral apoplexy patient are kept in functional positions, and the cerebral apoplexy patient is beneficial to preventing the occurrence of adverse complications of the cerebral apoplexy patient.
Ankle-foot orthoses are commonly used to provide protection to a patient's ankle and foot, the primary function being to provide plantar flexion resistance, helping to hold the patient's foot in the correct position as it lifts off the ground.
