背景技术
随着信息化社会的到来,对各种形式的用于显示图像的显示装置的需求增加,近年来,诸如液晶显示器(LCD)、等离子体显示装置和有机发光显示器(OLED)之类的各种类型的平板显示装置已经投入使用。
目前,在这些平板显示装置中,能够易于变薄且具有优异的视角和对比度范围的有机发光显示器被广泛应用。有机发光显示器将驱动电流提供至作为自发光器件的有机发光二极管并且发光,从而呈现图像。然而,当有机发光二极管长时间发光时,其可能会发生劣化。具体地,当显示高亮度静态图像时,可能会更容易发生劣化。由于劣化导致在有机发光二极管中形成余像(afterimage),因而其预期寿命缩短。
此外,由于用于向有机发光二极管提供驱动电流的各个驱动晶体管的工艺偏差,可能会产生阈值电压差;并且,相应地,可能会产生针对每个像素的驱动电流变化。当产生这种驱动电流变化时,有机发光显示装置可产生图像质量偏差问题。由于驱动晶体管和/或有机发光二极管的劣化产生驱动电流变化,因此其大小随使用时间发生变化。

下文中,将参照附图详细地描述本发明的一些实施方式。当用参考标记表示各图的元件时,尽管显示在不同的附图中,但将通过相同的参考标记表示相同的元件。此外,当对本文涉及的已知功能和构造的详细描述会使本发明的主题不清楚时,将省略此详细描述。
此外,在描述本发明的部件时,本文可使用诸如第一、第二、A、B、(a)、(b)等之类的术语。这些术语的每一个不用于限定相应部件的本质、等级或顺序,而是仅用于将该相应部件与其他部件区分开。在描述某一结构元件与另一结构元件“连接”、“耦接”或“接合”的情形中,应当解释为,除了该某一结构元件与另一结构元件直接连接或直接接触以外,其它结构元件还可与这些结构元件“连接”、“耦接”或“接合”。
图1图解了根据本发明实施方式的有机发光显示装置的结构。
参照图1,有机发光显示装置100可包括显示面板110、用于将数据信号提供至显示面板110的驱动IC 120、和用于控制驱动IC 120的控制器130。
显示面板110可具有彼此交叉的多条栅极线(G1、...、Gn)和多条数据线(D1、...、Dm)。此外,显示面板110可包括形成在多条栅极线(G1、...、Gn)与多条数据线(D1、...、Dm)彼此交叉的相应区域中的多个像素101。多个像素101可包括有机发光二极管(未示出)和用于向有机发光二极管提供驱动电流的像素电路(未示出)。像素电路可连接至栅极线(G1、...、Gn)和数据线(D1、...、Dm)并且可向有机发光二极管提供驱动电流。此外,显示面板110可具有布置在其上的用于提供多个驱动电力的电源线(VL1、…、VLm)。电源线(VL1、…、VLm)可被布置成平行于数据线(D1、...、Dm)。然而,本发明并不限于此。
驱动IC 120可连接至多条栅极线(G1、...、Gn)以提供栅极信号,并且可连接至多条数据线(D1、...、Dm)以提供数据信号。为此,驱动IC 120的数量可为多个,驱动IC 120的每一个可包括栅极驱动器120a和数据驱动器120b。尽管示出了栅极驱动器120a作为单独的元件被布置在显示面板110的左侧上,但栅极驱动器120a可被布置在显示面板110的左侧和右侧的每一个上。然而,栅极驱动器120a的布置并不限于此。驱动IC 120的数量可为多个。此外,多个驱动IC可被称为驱动电路。
此外,栅极驱动器120a可形成在显示面板110上并且可包括连接至栅极线(G1、...、Gn)的面板内栅极(GIP)电路。数据驱动器120b可接收图像信号并产生数据信号。尽管仅示出了一个数据驱动器120b,但本发明并不限于此,根据显示面板110的尺寸和分辨率,数据驱动器120b的数量可为多个。驱动IC 120可经由柔性印刷电路板(FPCB)连接至显示面板110。
当用户导通有机发光显示装置100时,驱动IC 120可通过接收第一驱动电力而进行操作。此外,驱动IC 120可从控制器130接收图像信号(RGB)并产生数据信号。驱动IC 120可从控制器130接收感测信号,将感测信号提供至显示面板110,并且接收面板信息。驱动IC120可按照提供图像信号的显示时段和提供感测信号的感测时段进行操作。面板信息可包括关于来自显示面板110的每一个像素的驱动晶体管的劣化的信息和关于有机发光二极管的劣化的信息。然而,本发明并不限于此。由于驱动IC 120将感测数据提供至显示面板110的每一个像素101并且根据感测数据获得关于驱动晶体管的劣化的信息和关于有机发光二极管的劣化的信息,因此控制器130可接收面板信息。
控制器130可将控制信号提供至驱动IC 120。此外,控制器130可将图像信号和感测信号提供至驱动IC 120。提供至驱动IC 120的图像信号可以是根据显示面板110的特性通过控制器130进行补偿的图像信号。感测信号可对应于记录在存储器(未示出)中的显示面板110的特性值(characteristic value)。显示面板110的特性值可包括初始特性值和标准特性值(normal charactieristic value)。初始特性值可以是在制造显示面板110时通过向显示面板110施加信号所获得的信息。标准特性值可以是通过向显示面板110施加感测信号所获得的补偿值。在下面的描述中,术语“特性值”是指标准特性值,除非另有具体说明。此外,控制器130可基于由驱动IC 120提供的面板信息而产生补偿后的图像信号。控制器130可以是时序控制器。然而,本发明并不限于此。
当用户导通有机发光显示装置100时,控制器130可接收第二驱动电力,当用户关闭有机发光显示装置100时,控制器130可不接收第二驱动电力。此外,当用户关闭有机发光显示装置100时,控制器130可在截止之后的预定时间内接收第二驱动电力。也就是说,尽管有机发光显示装置100被截止,但第二驱动电力可保持预定时间。控制器130可响应于导通信号根据显示面板110的初始特性值控制驱动IC 120以执行从驱动IC 120接收面板信息的感测时段。控制器130可基于感测时段中接收的面板信息而确定补偿值。此外,控制器130可控制驱动IC 120以执行显示时段。在显示时段中,控制器130可根据所确定的补偿值产生补偿后图像信号并且基于补偿后图像信号将图像信号传输至显示面板110,以便在显示面板110上显示图像。
控制器130的驱动可根据第二驱动电力的供应而停止。此外,当供应第二驱动电力时,控制器130可执行感测时段和显示时段。有机发光显示装置可能会随使用时间而发生劣化,因而显示面板110的面板信息可发生变化。因此,当有机发光显示装置100被导通时,有机发光显示装置100可执行感测时段以检测显示面板110的劣化程度并产生面板信息。此外,控制器130可通过根据在感测时段中产生的面板信息补偿图像信号,防止在显示时段期间显示在显示面板110上的图像质量因劣化而下降。
然而,如果导通之后,在执行感测时段之后执行显示时段,则图像可仅在感测时段过去时显示在显示面板110上。因此,显示面板110在显示图像之前需要感测时段那么长的时间。因此,当用户导通有机发光显示装置100时,图像不立即显示在显示面板110上。尤其是,当用户因失误而关闭有机发光显示装置100时,尽管刚刚关闭有机发光显示装置100,但由于再次执行感测时段,在显示面板110上的图像显示可能会延迟。
因此,控制器130可选择执行感测时段的第一驱动方案和执行显示时段的第二驱动方案的其中之一,并且可根据需要经由选自第一驱动方案和第二驱动方案的其中之一进行操作,在第一驱动方案中,响应于导通信号根据显示面板110的面板特性产生补偿值,然后执行显示时段,在显示时段中,图像根据补偿值显示在显示面板110上;在第二驱动方案中,当输入导通信号时,图像根据预先生成的补偿值显示在显示面板上。当选定第二驱动方案时,控制器130可直接执行显示时段而无需单独执行感测时段,从而防止在显示面板110上的图像显示延迟。
根据一实施方式,当在输入截止信号(turn-off signal)之后的预设时间内输入导通信号时,控制器130可选定第二驱动方案。因此,当在输入截止信号之后的预设时间内输入导通信号时,控制器130可直接执行显示时段而无需执行感测时段,从而防止在显示面板110上的图像显示延迟。
根据一实施方式,有机发光显示装置可进一步包括用于向显示面板110、驱动IC120和控制器130提供驱动电力的电力单元140。此外,电力单元140可产生传输至显示面板110的像素驱动电力以及传输至IC的第一驱动电力和第二驱动电力。第一驱动电力可被传输至驱动IC 120,第二驱动电力可被传输至控制器130。然而,本发明并不限于此。此外,电力单元140可从外部装置接收IC驱动电力并且产生第一驱动电力和第二驱动电力。
电力单元140可根据导通/截止信号而被驱动。此外,即使输入截止信号,电力单元140也可在预设时间内保持供应第二驱动电力,因而控制器130可在预设时间内不被截止。
因此,即使产生截止信号,控制器130也可在预设时间内从电力单元140接收第二驱动电力,对控制器130的驱动可不停止。当对控制器130的驱动不停止时,存储在控制器130中的面板信息可得到保持。因此,尽管输入了截止信号,控制器130可利用预先产生的面板信息。出于同样的原因,当在输入截止信号之后的预设时间内再次输入导通信号时,控制器130可利用所保持的面板信息。因此,控制器130可无需执行感测时段而产生补偿图像信号。当在产生截止信号之后的预设时间内再次输入导通信号时,控制器130可利用所保持的面板信息,因而可不需要单独的感测时段。出于同样的原因,控制器130可直接执行显示时段而无需执行感测时段,从而减少显示面板110上没有显示图像的时间段。
图2A是图解根据本发明实施方式的有机发光显示装置的框图。
参照图2A,有机发光显示装置200可包括用于接收像素驱动电力EVDD以被驱动的显示面板210、用于接收第一驱动电力VDD1以被驱动并且将数据信号提供至显示面板210的驱动IC 220、用于控制驱动IC 220并且接收第二驱动电力VDD2以被驱动的控制器230、和用于在输入截止信号之后的预设时间内保持第二驱动电力VDD2的电力单元240。
有机发光显示装置200可从外部装置250接收图像信号RGB并且将图像信号提供至控制器230。控制器230可将感测信号Ssen提供至驱动IC 220。控制器230可根据感测信号Ssen从驱动IC 220接收包含所检测的劣化信息的面板信息。控制器230可根据面板信息计算补偿值。控制器230可基于补偿值产生补偿后的补偿图像信号(RGB’)并且将补偿图像信号(RGB’)提供至驱动IC 220。尽管仅示出一个驱动IC 220,但本发明并不限于此。驱动IC220可以是包括多个驱动IC的驱动电路。
当输入导通信号时,控制器230可控制驱动IC 220按照包括感测时段和显示时段的第一驱动方案进行操作。当在输入截止信号之后的预设时间内输入导通信号时,控制器230可控制驱动IC 220按照其中直接执行显示时段的第二驱动方案进行操作。当在输入导通信号之后无需感测时段而直接执行显示时段时,有机发光显示装置200进入显示时段所需的时间可变得非常短。导通/截止信号可被输入至电力单元240。电力单元240可根据导通/截止信号而输出像素驱动电力EVDD、第一驱动电力VDD1和第二驱动电力VDD2,控制器230可响应于导通信号而接收第二驱动电力VDD2。当输入导通信号时,控制器230可进行操作以控制驱动IC 220。
导通/截止信号可从外部装置250被传输至电力单元240。外部装置250可接收在远程控制器的控制下无线传输的导通/截止信号,并将所接收的导通/截止信号传输至电力单元240。此外,外部装置250可在开关的控制下接收导通/截止信号并将所接收的导通/截止信号传输至电力单元240。然而,导通/截止信号的传输并不限于此。
电力单元240可响应于截止信号通过阻断提供至显示面板210的像素驱动电力EVDD而直接关闭显示面板210。显示面板210消耗大量的电流,当直接关闭显示面板210时可降低功耗。然而,本发明并不限于此,像素驱动电力EVDD在输入截止信号之后可保持预定时间。当像素驱动电力EVDD保持预定时间时,控制器230可将黑色数据传输至驱动IC 220并使显示面板210呈现黑色,以降低功耗。
根据一实施方式,在传输截止信号之后,电力单元240可在将提供至驱动IC 220的第一驱动电力VDD1和提供至控制器230的第二驱动电力VDD2保持预定时间之后,阻断第一驱动电力VDD1和第二驱动电力VDD2。
此外,当频繁执行导通/截止时,电力单元240可因发热和过高的功耗而损坏。然而,通过将包括第一驱动电力VDD1和第二驱动电力VDD2在内的驱动电力保持预定时间而不立即中断驱动电力,电力单元240可减少导通/截止的次数,从而减少电力单元240中产生的热量,由此减少故障。此外,当在截止之后的较短时间内执行导通时,通过基于预先存储的面板信息来显示图像而无需执行感测时段,可减少显示面板210上没有显示图像的时间段。
图2B是图解根据本发明实施方式的电力单元的实施方式的框图。
参照图2B,电力单元240可包括控制PCB 241和PMIC 242。
控制PCB 241可从装置接收像素驱动电力EVDD和IC驱动电力VDD。所接收的像素驱动电力EVDD可被输出并提供至图1中所示的显示面板110。此外,所接收的IC驱动电力VDD可被传输至PMIC 242。
PMIC 242可将驱动电力提供至有机发光显示装置所采用的IC。IC可包括驱动IC120和控制器130。在从PMIC 242输出的驱动电力中,提供至驱动IC120的驱动电力可被称为第一驱动电力VDD1,提供至控制器130的驱动电力可被称为第二驱动电力VDD2。然而,从PMIC 242输出的驱动电力的数目并不限于此。
当输入截止信号时,从外部提供至控制PCB 241的像素驱动电力EVDD可立即截止。此外,从外部提供至控制PCB 241的IC驱动电力VDD可在保持预定时间之后截止。然而,本发明并不限于此,像素驱动电力EVDD和IC驱动电力VDD可在保持预定时间之后截止。
图3是图解图1中所示的显示面板所采用的像素的实施方式的电路图。
参照图3,像素301可包括有机发光二极管OLED和像素电路301a。
有机发光二极管OLED可基于对应于阳极电压和阴极电压的驱动电流的流动而发光。此外,有机发光二极管OLED可包括有机膜,有机膜可发射红光、绿光、蓝光和/或白光。
像素电路301a可将驱动电流传输至有机发光二极管OLED。像素电路301a可包括第一晶体管M1、第二晶体管M2、第三晶体管M3和电容器Cst。第一晶体管M1可以是用于根据数据信号产生驱动电流的驱动晶体管。第二晶体管M2和第三晶体管M3可以是开关晶体管。
在第一晶体管M1中,第一电极可连接至第一电源线VL1,第二电极可连接至第二节点N2,栅极电极可连接至第一节点N1。第二节点N2可连接至有机发光二极管OLED的阳极。驱动电流可根据传输至第一节点N1的电压沿着从第一电极至第二电极的方向流动。
在第二晶体管M2中,第一电极可连接至数据线DL,第二电极可连接至第一节点N1,栅极电极可连接至栅极线GL。经由数据线(Dm)传输的数据电压Vdata可根据经由栅极线GL传输的栅极信号G被传输至第一节点N1。
在第三晶体管M3中,第一电极可连接至第二电源线VL2,第二电极可连接至第二节点N2,栅极电极可连接至感测控制信号线SL。第三晶体管M3可根据经由感测控制信号线SL传输的感测控制信号Csen将第二节点N2的电压传输至连接至第二电源线VL2的ADC 320,作为对应于流向有机发光二极管的驱动电流和施加至有机发光二极管的驱动电压的信息。ADC 320可被包括在图1中所示的驱动IC 120中。
电容器Cst可设置在第一节点N1和第二节点N2之间并且根据存储在电容器Cst中的电压而保持第一节点N1的电压。
像素301可在感测时段期间经由数据线(D1、...、Dm)接收感测信号,并且可将流入第二节点N2中的电流和电压经由第二电源线VL2和开关SAM传输至ADC 320,第二电源线经由开关连接至基准电压VRef。此外,在显示时段期间,数据信号经由数据线(D1、...、Dm)传输,有机发光二极管OLED根据在数据信号中流动的驱动电流而发光并显示图像。
用于使第二晶体管M2和第三晶体管M3导通/截止的栅极信号G和感测控制信号Csen可以是相同的信号。
如上所述配置的像素可被图2中所示的显示面板210所采用。此外,在像素301中,在用于感测图2中所示的显示面板210的特性的感测时段期间,感测信号可被施加至显示面板210的一条或多条数据线,可在一条或多条数据线和其他信号线(例如,第二电源线)中产生电压变化,显示面板210的特性可经由产生的电压变化而感测到。
在此,示出了像素301被用于图2中所示的显示面板210,但本发明并不限于此,像素301可被用于图1中所示的显示面板110。
图4是图解根据图1中所示的有机发光显示装置的操作的第一实施方式的时序图。
参照图4,有机发光显示装置100可根据感测时段SST和显示时段DT进行操作。
有机发光显示装置100可被导通。有机发光显示装置100可通过导通信号被导通。当有机发光显示装置100被导通时,可执行感测时段SST。在感测时段SST中,感测信号可从驱动IC 120被提供至像素101。当提供感测信号时,显示面板110的每个像素101可根据感测信号产生感测电流。可基于感测电流来检测包含关于驱动晶体管的劣化的信息和关于有机发光二极管的劣化的信息在内的面板信息。此外,可根据劣化信息计算补偿值。为此,感测时段SST可包括加载时段SST1和补偿时段SST2。
加载时段SST1可以是接收对应于初始面板信息的初始特性值的时段,补偿时段SST2可以是计算对应于初始特性值和感测信号的补偿值的时段。在制造时,初始特性值可被存储在存储器中。
此外,当感测时段SST结束时,可执行显示时段DT。显示时段DT可以是在显示面板110上显示图像的时段。在显示时段DT中,图像信号可根据感测时段SST中产生的补偿值得到补偿,因而可产生补偿图像信号。接着,补偿图像信号可被传输至每个像素,可产生对应于补偿图像信号的驱动电流。有机发光二极管可利用所产生的驱动电流而发光,从而可显示图像。
当如上所述驱动的有机发光显示装置100被导通时,可在执行感测时段之后执行显示时段,对应于补偿图像信号的图像可显示在显示面板110上。因此,可以防止劣化导致的图像质量下降。然而,当有机发光显示装置100被导通时,在执行感测时段之后执行显示时段,使得在导通之后在显示面板110上显示图像需要花非很长的时间。
由于上述诸如误操作之类的问题,尽管用户在有机发光显示装置100被截止信号截止时立即再次输入导通信号,也需要花费预定的时间以在显示面板110上显示图像。
图5是图解在图1中所示的有机发光显示装置中,驱动电力随导通/截止信号变化的第一实施方式的时序图,图6是图解在图1中所示的有机发光显示装置中,驱动电力随导通/截止信号变化的第二实施方式的时序图,图7是图解在图1中所示的有机发光显示装置中,驱动电力随导通/截止信号变化的第三实施方式的时序图。
参照图5,当从外部装置输入截止信号时,从电力单元140提供至显示面板110的像素驱动电力EVDD被截止。此时,像素驱动电力EVDD的电压可因RC延迟而在截止时间以预定斜率下降。
然而,IC驱动电力VDD未被阻断,一直到预设时间Td,因此可保持预设电压。由于控制器130可通过接收对应于IC驱动电力VDD的第二驱动电力而进行操作,因此驱动可不停止,一直到IC驱动电力VDD保持在高状态的预设时间段Td为止。此外,尽管未示出,第二驱动电力VDD2的波形可与IC驱动电力VDD的波形相同。预设时间可以是固定时间。此外,预设时间Td可以是IC驱动电力VDD被阻断之后,IC驱动电力VDD的电压下降至预设电压的时间段。在此,预设电压可以是对应于在高状态的IC驱动电力VDD的电压的90%的电压。然而,本发明并不局限于此。
当预设时间过去之后输入导通信号时,IC驱动电力VDD可切换回高状态。此外,像素驱动电力EVDD可在像素驱动电力EVDD进入高状态之后进入高状态。此时,控制器130在预设时间过去之后输入导通信号之前不接收对应于IC驱动电力VDD的第二驱动电力,因而可被复位。因此,预先产生的面板信息也可被复位。因此,当预设时间过去之后输入导通信号时,应当经由第一感测时段SST1和第二感测时段SST2的再次执行而再次产生面板信息。在显示时段DT中,控制器130可基于所产生的面板信息而产生补偿值。控制器130可根据所述补偿值产生补偿图像信号并且根据补偿图像信号在显示面板110上显示图像。
图6示出了当用户在预设时间Td内输入导通信号时驱动电力的电压变化。当输入截止信号时,像素驱动电力EVDD在输入截止信号的时间点处被阻断,其电压可下降。此时,IC驱动电力VDD可在预设时间Td内保持高状态的电压。控制器130接收对应于IC驱动电力VDD的第二驱动电力VDD2,因而在IC驱动电力VDD的电压保持在高状态的同时可不被复位。
此外,由于像素驱动电力EVDD未被提供至显示面板110,因此显示面板110在产生截止信号之后输入导通信号之前可不显示图像。
当在预设时间Td内输入导通信号时,IC驱动电力VDD可不被截止,因而其电压可被保持。因此,控制器130可无需复位而进行操作。当控制器130不被复位时,面板信息不被初始化,不需要执行第一感测时段和第二感测时段。因此,由于像素驱动电力EVDD进入高状态,因而控制器130可直接执行显示时段DT,显示面板110可显示图像。
尽管输入了截止信号,但当在预设时间Td内输入导通信号时,控制器130可直接执行显示时段DT而无需执行第一感测时段和第二感测时段,因而缩短了在输入导通信号之后用于显示图像所花费的时间。
图7图解了当输入截止信号时像素驱动电力EVDD未立即截止而是保持预设时间Td的情形。在这种情形下,在预设时间Td期间可提供黑色数据,显示面板110可呈现黑色。由于在输入截止信号的时间点处没有图像显示在显示面板110上,因而可降低功耗。
图8是图解图1中所示的控制器的实施方式的框图,图9是图解图8中所示的控制器的操作的实施方式的时序图。
参照图8,控制器800可存储显示面板的特性值并且可包括根据第二驱动电力VDD2而加载的存储器820和用于在存储器820加载时从存储器820接收显示面板的特性值并且产生补偿值的补偿块810,第二驱动电力VDD2在被导通之后可保持预设时间。
补偿块810可将预先存储在存储器820中的特性值与根据感测信号所传输的面板信息进行比较,并计算补偿值。预先存储的特性值可被存储在存储器820中。当加载时,存储器820可将所存储的特性值提供至补偿块810。当控制器800接收到第二驱动电力VDD2时,存储器820可加载。补偿块810可包括感测时段和显示时段,补偿块810可按照第一驱动方案和第二驱动方案的其中之一进行操作,其中在第一驱动方案中,当被导通时,补偿块810执行感测显示面板的特性的感测时段,然后执行在显示面板上显示图像的显示时段;在第二驱动方案中,当被导通时,补偿块810执行在显示面板上显示图像的显示时段,补偿块810可在被截止之后的预设时间内被导通时按照第二驱动方案操作。
存储器820可以以查找表的形式存储补偿值。因此,可根据所感测和传输的面板信息来存储补偿值。
参照图9,当响应于导通信号而产生的第二驱动电力VDD2被输入时,控制器800可开始操作。控制器800可按照第一驱动方案和第二驱动方案进行操作,第一驱动方案包括当输入第二驱动电力VDD2时根据图1中所示的显示面板110的特性而产生补偿值的感测时段SST和根据感测时段SST中产生的补偿值而产生补偿图像信号(RGB’)并且根据补偿图像信号(RGB’)而在显示面板110上显示图像的显示时段DT;第二驱动方案包括当输入导通信号时根据预先产生的补偿值而在显示面板110上显示图像的显示时段DT。在此,示出了在产生截止信号之后的预设时间Td内产生第二导通信号,但第一驱动方案对应于在产生截止信号之后不产生第二导通信号的情形,第二驱动方案对应于在产生截止信号之后的预设时间Td内产生所示出的第二导通信号的情形。
在第一驱动方案中传输至控制器800的第二驱动电力被表示为VDD2,在第二驱动方案中传输至控制器800的第二驱动电力被表示为VDD2’。
当控制器800被导通并且以第一驱动方案进行操作时,第二驱动电力VDD2可以以高状态被提供,可在感测时段SST执行预设时间之后执行显示时段DT。感测时段可包括用于加载存储器820的加载时段和用于计算从加载的存储器读取的特性值以及基于特性值和感测结果的补偿值的补偿时段。由于感测信号应被施加至显示面板的每个水平行,因此补偿时段可持续较长时间。当输入截止信号时,第二驱动电力VDD2在预设时间Td内保持在高状态,然后进入低状态,因此当预设时间Td过去时,控制器800的驱动可停止。
另一方面,当在产生截止信号之后的预设时间Td内产生导通信号时,第二驱动电力VDD2’可持续保持在高状态。此时,由于控制器800的驱动没有停止,因而控制器800可按照第二驱动方案操作,因此显示图像信号的时间不会被延迟。第二驱动方案不需要感测时段,从而使执行显示时段的时间更早。
图10是图解图1中所示的有机发光显示装置的驱动方法的实施方式的流程图。
参照图10,当输入导通信号时,可在S1000中执行用于产生对应于显示面板的特性的补偿值的感测时段。导通信号可被传输至用于将电力提供至有机发光显示装置的电力单元。此外,导通信号可经由远程控制器被传输或可按照使用户控制贴附至有机发光显示装置的开关的方式被传输至电力单元。然而,本发明并不限于此。导通信号可被输入至电力单元,且控制器可从电力单元接收驱动电力。
感测时段可包括用于加载存储器的加载时间和用于读取存储在加载的存储器中的显示面板的特性值并根据基于所读取的显示面板的特性值和感测信号而获取的面板信息来计算补偿值的补偿时段。
当输入导通信号时,可产生待提供至显示面板的像素驱动电力、待提供至驱动IC的第一驱动电力和待提供至控制器的第二驱动电力,所产生的像素驱动电力、第一驱动电力和第二驱动电力可被提供至显示面板、驱动IC和控制器。提供至控制器的第二驱动电力可与第一驱动电力相同。此外,驱动IC可接收第一驱动电力以产生第二驱动电力,并将第二驱动电力提供至控制器。然而,本发明并不限于此。
接下来,可在S1010中执行根据补偿值补偿传输至显示面板的图像信号并显示图像的显示时段。控制器可输出补偿图像信号并将补偿图像信号传输至驱动IC。驱动IC可基于补偿图像信号产生数据信号。显示面板可根据数据信号的电压而显示图像。
此外,在S1020中,在截止之后可检测导通信号。在检测导通信号的同时,传输至控制器的第二驱动电力可保持在高状态。在产生截止信号之后的预设时间内,第二驱动电力可保持在高状态。因此,在预设时间内接收第二驱动电力的控制器可不被复位,因而存储在控制器中的面板信息可不被初始化。在此,第二驱动电力可以是从电力单元提供至IC的驱动电力之一。此外,电力单元可接收IC驱动电力并产生传输至控制器的第二驱动电力。
在S1030中,当在输入截止信号之后的预设时间内检测到导通信号时,可根据预定补偿值再次执行显示时段。当在预设时间内产生导通信号时,电力单元可阻断第二驱动电力,因而控制器可不被复位。因此,面板信息可不被初始化,可不需要产生面板信息的感测时段。因此,当输入导通信号时,可直接执行显示时段,有机发光显示装置可在被截止之后被导通。因此,可以防止显示图像的时间延迟。
有机发光显示装置的驱动方法可包括检测导通信号的步骤,其中在预设时间期间,显示面板可至少在检测到导通信号之前接收黑色数据信号。此时,即使提供至显示面板的像素驱动电力保持在高状态,显示面板也根据黑色数据而呈现黑色,因而降低了显示面板所消耗的电力量。
然而,当在预设时间过去之后检测到导通信号时,控制器可被复位,且面板信息可被初始化,因而可在执行感测时段之后再次执行显示时段。
此外,有机发光显示装置的驱动方法可包括检测导通信号的步骤,其中预设时间可对应于第二驱动电力的电压下降至预设电压的时间段。
因此,可以通过防止电力单元频繁发生导通/截止并且减少所产生的热量而降低功耗。此外,可以防止电力单元因热量而发生故障。此外,通过在被截止之后的很短时间内输入导通信号时,显示面板上不显示图像的时间减少,可向用户提供更便捷的有机发光显示装置。
上面的描述和附图仅为了举例说明的目的而提供本发明的技术精神的示例。本发明所属技术领域的普通技术人员将理解,在不背离本发明的实质特征的情况下,可在形式上作出各种修改和变化,比如构造的组合、分离、替换和变化。因此,本发明中公开的各实施方式意在举例说明本发明的技术构思的范围,本发明的范围不受这些实施方式的限制。本发明的范围应当基于所附权利要求书解释为:包含在与权利要求书等同范围内的所有技术构思都属于本发明。
Claims (15)
1.一种有机发光显示装置,包括:
显示面板,所述显示面板被配置成接收用于所述显示面板的操作的像素驱动电力;
驱动电路,所述驱动电路被配置成按照IC驱动电力进行操作将驱动信号提供至所述显示面板;
控制器,所述控制器被配置成按照第一驱动方案和第二驱动方案的其中之一操作,其中在所述第一驱动方案中,当被导通时,所述控制器执行感测所述显示面板的信息的感测时段,然后执行在所述显示面板上显示图像的显示时段;在所述第二驱动方案中,当被导通时,所述控制器执行在所述显示面板上显示图像的显示时段;以及
电力单元,所述电力单元被配置成在被导通时传输所述像素驱动电力和所述IC驱动电力;
其中,所述控制器包括被配置成产生用于补偿传输至所述显示面板的图像信号的补偿值的补偿块和被配置成存储所述补偿值并且将所述补偿值提供至所述补偿块的存储器;
其中,当所述控制器从所述电力单元接收到所述IC驱动电力时,所述存储器被加载;并且
其中,当所述电力单元接收到截止信号时,从所述电力单元传输的所述IC驱动电力在预设时间内不被截止。
2.根据权利要求1所述的有机发光显示装置,其中所述控制器在按照所述第二驱动方案操作时,根据预先产生的补偿值执行所述显示时段。
3.根据权利要求1所述的有机发光显示装置,其中用于驱动所述显示面板的所述像素驱动电力被保持预设时间。
4.根据权利要求3所述的有机发光显示装置,其中所述驱动电路将黑色数据信号提供至所述显示面板,至少一直到所述预设时间内的导通时间为止。
5.根据权利要求1所述的有机发光显示装置,其中所述预设时间是所述IC驱动电力的电压下降至预设电压的时间段。
6.一种有机发光显示装置,包括:
显示面板,所述显示面板被配置成接收用于所述显示面板的操作的像素驱动电力;
驱动电路,所述驱动电路被配置成按照IC驱动电力进行操作并且将数据信号提供至所述显示面板;
控制器,所述控制器被配置成控制所述驱动电路并且按照所述IC驱动电力进行操作;和
电力单元,所述电力单元被配置成提供所述像素驱动电力和所述IC驱动电力并且在输入截止信号之后将所述IC驱动电力保持预设时间;
其中,所述控制器包括被配置成产生用于补偿传输至所述显示面板的图像信号的补偿值的补偿块和被配置成存储所述补偿值并且将所述补偿值提供至所述补偿块的存储器;
其中,当所述控制器从所述电力单元接收到所述IC驱动电力时,所述存储器被加载;并且
其中,当所述电力单元接收到截止信号时,从所述电力单元传输的所述IC驱动电力在预设时间内不被截止。
7.根据权利要求6所述的有机发光显示装置,其中所述控制器以感测时段和显示时段进行操作,所述感测时段包括加载所述存储器的加载时段和基于所加载的感测时段和所感测的面板特性信息而计算补偿值的补偿时段,并且所述控制器在所述显示时段期间通过应用所述补偿值而补偿提供至所述显示面板的图像信号。
8.根据权利要求6所述的有机发光显示装置,其中至少在所述预设时间内保持所述像素驱动电力。
9.根据权利要求8所述的有机发光显示装置,其中所述驱动电路将黑色数据信号提供至所述显示面板,一直到在所述预设时间内至少检测到导通信号的时间点为止。
10.一种控制器,包括:
存储器,所述存储器被配置成存储显示面板的特性值并且根据IC驱动电力加载;和
补偿块,所述补偿块被配置成当所述存储器被加载时,所述补偿块从所述存储器接收所述显示面板的特性值以产生补偿值,
其中在被截止之后,所述IC驱动电力被保持预设时间;
其中,当从电力单元接收到所述IC驱动电力时,所述存储器被加载;并且
其中,当接收到截止信号时,从所述电力单元传输的所述IC驱动电力在预设时间内不被截止。
11.根据权利要求10所述的控制器,其中所述补偿块包括感测时段和显示时段,所述补偿块按照第一驱动方案和第二驱动方案的其中之一进行操作,其中在所述第一驱动方案中,当被导通时,所述补偿块执行感测所述显示面板的特性的感测时段,然后执行在所述显示面板上显示图像的显示时段;在所述第二驱动方案中,当被导通时,所述补偿块执行在所述显示面板上显示图像的显示时段,所述补偿块在被截止之后的预设时间内被导通时按照所述第二驱动方案操作。
12.根据权利要求11所述的控制器,其中所述控制器在按照所述第二驱动方案操作时,根据预先产生的补偿值执行所述显示时段。
13.一种驱动有机发光显示装置的方法,所述方法包括:
当检测到导通信号时,通过根据权利要求10所述的控制器执行产生与显示面板的特性对应的补偿值的感测时段;
通过由所述控制器根据所述补偿值补偿传输至所述显示面板的图像信号而执行显示图像的显示时段;和
当在被截止之后的预设时间内检测到导通信号时,通过所述控制器根据所述补偿值再次执行所述显示时段。
14.根据权利要求13所述的方法,其中所述控制器将黑色数据信号传输至所述显示面板,一直到在所述预设时间期间至少检测到所述导通信号的时间点为止。
15.根据权利要求13所述的方法,其中当再次执行所述显示时段时,参考所述显示时段中的预设显示面板特性来显示图像。
