Description

AP management method and device
Technical Field
The present application relates to the field of wireless communications technologies, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for managing an AP.
Background
With the wide application of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), the size of WLANs is getting larger and larger. The WLAN generally includes an Access Controller (AC), a Power Over Ethernet (POE) switch, and an Access Point (AP), where the AC is connected to the AP through the POE switch. The POE switch is used for supplying power to the AP, and the AC is used for managing the AP.
In the WLAN, when starting an AP, a manager needs to configure the AP on the AC, and the specific process is as follows: an AP template is created for the AP, and attribute information (such as a model number and a serial number of the AP) corresponding to the AP is set in the AP template, and then, a manager may bind the AP template with a preconfigured service template. The service template includes information of operating parameters (such as service set identifier and channel) required by the AP to provide the wireless access service. Thus, when the AP starts up, the AP may send an association request message to the AC. The association request message may carry the model and the serial number of the AP. The AC may match the model and serial number of the AP carried in the association request with the attribute information in the AP template, and allow the AP to associate if matching is successful. Subsequently, the AC may send corresponding operating parameter information to the AP according to the service template bound by the AP template, so that the AP provides a wireless access service according to the operating parameter information.
Based on the prior art, when an AP in a WLAN fails and needs to be replaced by a new AP, a manager needs to configure the new AP on the AC so that the new AP can provide wireless access service. However, when the size of the WLAN is large, the probability of the AP in the WLAN failing is also large, and thus, each time the failed AP is replaced by a new AP, corresponding configuration needs to be performed on the AC, resulting in low maintenance efficiency.

Detailed Description
The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present application will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present application, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are only a part of the embodiments of the present application, and not all of the embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present application.
The embodiment of the application provides a management method of an AP, and the method can be jointly realized by an AC and the AP in a WLAN. As shown in fig. 1, a system framework diagram is provided for an embodiment of the present application, wherein a WLAN generally includes an AC, a switch, an AP, and a terminal. The AC can be connected with the AP through the switch to perform association management and configuration issuing management on the AP; the AP may be used to provide wireless access services to the terminal. The AC and the AP can communicate with each other through the CAPWAP protocol. The switch may be a POE switch, or may be another type of switch, and the embodiment of the present application is not limited.
The following will describe in detail the processing procedure when the AC executes the above-mentioned AP management method with reference to the specific embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, the specific steps are as follows:
step 201, receiving a first communication packet sent by a target AP.
The first communication packet may carry a model (i.e., a target model) and a sequence number (i.e., a target sequence number) of a target AP and an MAC address of a target direct connection port acquired by the target AP, where the target direct connection port is a port on a switch directly connected to the target AP.
In implementation, after the target AP is started, the target AP may obtain an MAC address of a port directly connected to the target AP on the switch through a Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). The target AP may then send a first communication packet to the AC. The first communication packet may carry a target model and a target serial number of the target AP, and an MAC address of the target direct connection port acquired by the target AP. After receiving a first communication message sent by a target AP, the AC may analyze the first communication message to obtain a target model and a target serial number of the target AP carried in the first communication message, and an MAC address of a target direct connection port obtained by the target AP.
Optionally, the first communication packet may be a Discovery Request packet (i.e., Discovery Request) or an add Request packet (i.e., Join Request). The embodiment of the present application takes the first communication packet as a discovery request packet as an example for introduction. Correspondingly, after the target AP acquires the MAC address of the target direct connection port, the MAC address, the target model, and the target serial number of the target direct connection port may be added to the discovery request message, and then the discovery request message is sent to the AC. The discovery request message carries a target model number and a target serial number of the target AP and an MAC address of the target direct connection port. After receiving a discovery request message sent by a target AP, the AC may analyze the discovery request message to obtain a target model number and a target serial number of the target AP and an MAC address of a target direct connection port, which are carried in the discovery request message. The situation that the first communication message is the join request message is similar to that of the first communication message, and details are not repeated in the application.
The target AP may add a Type Length Value (TLV) field to the discovery request packet to carry the MAC address of the destination direct connection port.
Step 202, inquiring the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in a pre-stored AP information table.
The AP information table comprises the corresponding relation of the model number and the serial number of the AP, the MAC address of the directly connected port and the working parameter information.
In an implementation, the AC may store an AP information table in advance. The AP information table may include fields such as the model number and serial number of the AP, the MAC address of the direct connection port, and the working parameter information. The working parameter information may provide parameter information required for the wireless access Service for the AP Set in the Service template, such as a Service Set Identifier (SSID), a Channel (Channel), a maximum Power (Max _ Power), and the like. The model, serial number and working parameter information of the AP can be configured by management personnel; the MAC address of the direct connection port may be configured by a manager, or may be determined according to a first communication packet (e.g., a discovery request packet or an addition request packet) sent by the AP. A specific process for determining the MAC address of the directly connected port according to the first communication packet sent by the AP will be described later, and details thereof are not repeated here.
For example, the first table is an example of an AP information table provided in the embodiment of the present application, where a model number of the AP1 is a, a serial number is 123, a MAC address of a direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-01, and an SSID in the working parameter information is X; the channel is 1; the maximum power is 20. The model number of the AP2 is A, the serial number is 456, the MAC address of the direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-02, and the SSID in the working parameter information is Y; channel is 6; max _ Power is 20. The model of the AP3 is A, the serial number is 456, the MAC address of the direct connection port is null, and the SSID in the working parameter information is Y; channel is 11; max _ Power is 20.

After the AC obtains the target model and the target serial number of the target AP and the MAC address of the target direct connection port, which are carried in the discovery request message, the AC may query the operating parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table. If the operating parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number does not exist in the AP information table, the AC performs step 203. If the operating parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number exists in the AP information table, the AC may not perform the processing.
Step 203, if the AP information table does not have the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, the AP information table queries the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port.
In implementation, if the AP information table does not have the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, it indicates that the target AP is a newly enabled AP, and the AC may query the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port in the AP information table. If the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port exists in the AP information table, it indicates that the target AP is a replacement AP for the original AP, and the AC performs step 204. If the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port does not exist in the AP information table, the target AP is indicated to be a newly on-line AP, and the AC does not process or returns a failure response message.
It should be noted that default operating parameter information may also be stored in the AC in advance. The default operating parameter information may be configured by an administrator. If the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port does not exist in the AP information table, the AC can send a discovery response message to the target AP. After receiving the discovery response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send an join request message to the AC. The AC will send a join response message to the target AP. After receiving the join response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send a configuration request message to the AC. After receiving the configuration request message sent by the target AP, the AC may send a configuration response message to the target AP. And the configuration response message carries default working parameter information. Therefore, after receiving the configuration response message sent by the AC, the target AP can provide wireless access service for the terminal according to the default working parameter information carried in the configuration response message, thereby realizing the automatic configuration of the AP.
Optionally, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, a third communication message is sent to the target AP, where the third communication message carries the working parameter information, so that the target AP provides a wireless access service according to the working parameter information after associating with the AC.
In implementation, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, the AC may send a discovery response packet to the target AP. After receiving the discovery response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send an join request message to the AC. After receiving the join request message sent by the AP, the AC can authenticate the target AP. If the authentication is passed, the AC may send a join response message to the target AP. After receiving the join response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send a configuration request message to the AC. After receiving the configuration request message sent by the target AP, the AC may send a configuration response message (i.e., a third communication message) to the target AP. Wherein, the configuration response message carries the working parameter information. Therefore, after receiving the configuration response message sent by the AC, the target AP can provide wireless access service for the terminal according to the working parameter information carried in the configuration response message.
For example, the target model of the target AP is a; the target sequence number is 123. The AC may query the AP information table for operating parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number. As shown in table one, the SSID in the queried operating parameter information is X; channel is 1; max _ Power is 20. Then, after receiving the configuration request message sent by the target AP, the AC sends a configuration response message to the target AP. The configuration response message carries the queried working parameter information, and the target AP can provide a wireless access service for the terminal according to the working parameter information.
Optionally, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, the AC may further determine whether the MAC address of the direct connection port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table is the same as the MAC address of the target direct connection port. And if the MAC address of the directly connected port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table is different from the MAC address of the target directly connected port, modifying the MAC address of the directly connected port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number into the MAC address of the target directly connected port.
In implementation, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, the AC may further query the MAC address of the direct connection port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table, and then determine whether the MAC address is the same as the MAC address of the target direct connection port. If the MAC address is different from the MAC address of the target direct connection port, the direct connection port of the target AP is changed, and the AC can change the MAC address of the direct connection port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table into the MAC address of the target direct connection port. If the MAC address is the same as the MAC address of the target directly-connected port, the directly-connected port of the target AP is not changed, and the AC does not need to update the MAC address of the directly-connected port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number.
For example, the target model of the target AP is a; the target serial number is 123; the MAC address of the target direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-04. After the AC may query the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table, the AC may further query the MAC address of the direct connection port, as shown in table one, if the queried MAC address of the direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-01, which is different from 00-00-00-00-04, it is determined that the direct connection port of the target AP is changed, and the AC may modify the MAC address of the direct connection port corresponding to the target model and the target serial number (i.e., 00-00-00-00-00-01) to the MAC address of the target direct connection port (i.e., 00-00-00-00-00-04), as shown in table two.
Watch two
Figure BDA0001813609580000101
And 204, if the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port exists in the AP information table, sending a second communication message to the target AP, wherein the second communication message carries the inquired working parameter information, so that the target AP provides wireless access service according to the inquired working parameter information after being associated with the AC.
In implementation, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port, which indicates that the target AP is a replacement AP for the original AP, the AC may send a discovery response packet to the target AP. After receiving the discovery response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send an join request message to the AC. And after receiving the joining request message sent by the AP, the AC directly sends a joining response message to the target AP. After receiving the join response message sent by the AC, the target AP may send a configuration request message to the AC. After receiving the configuration request message sent by the target AP, the AC may send a configuration response message (i.e., a second communication message) to the target AP. And the configuration response message carries the inquired working parameter information. Therefore, after the target AP receives the configuration response message sent by the AC (namely, after the target AP is associated with the AC), the wireless access service can be provided for the terminal according to the working parameter information carried in the configuration response message, the automatic configuration of the AP is realized, the target AP does not need to be configured by a manager, and the maintenance efficiency is improved.
For example, the target model of the target AP is a; the MAC address of the target direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-01. The AC may query, in the AP information table, the operating parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port. As shown in table one, the SSID in the working parameter information is X; channel is 1; max _ Power is 20. Then, after receiving the configuration request message sent by the target AP, the AC sends a configuration response message to the target AP. Wherein, the target response message carries the above-mentioned inquired working parameter information.
Optionally, if the AP information table has working parameter information of the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port, the AC may further modify a sequence number in the AP information table corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port to a target sequence number.
In implementation, if the AP information table has working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port, it indicates that the target AP is a replacement AP for the original AP, and the AC may further modify the sequence number corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port in the AP information table to the target sequence number. Therefore, after the target AP is started subsequently, the AC can directly inquire the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the AP information table.
For example, the target model of the target AP is a; the MAC address of the target direct connection port is 00-00-00-00-00-01; the target sequence number is 321. As shown in table three, the AC may modify the sequence number (i.e. 123) in the AP information table corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port to the target sequence number (i.e. 321) in the AP information table.

An AP management method provided in an embodiment of the present application may be applied to a target AP, as shown in fig. 3, and includes the following specific steps:
step 301, sending a first communication packet to the AC.
The first communication packet may carry a target model and a target serial number of the target AP and an MAC address of a target direct connection port acquired by the target AP, where the target direct connection port is a port on the switch directly connected to the target AP.
In implementation, after the target AP is started, the target AP may obtain an MAC address of a port directly connected to the target AP on the switch through a Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). The target AP may then send a first communication packet to the AC. The first communication packet carries a target model and a target serial number of a target AP and an MAC address of a target direct connection port acquired by the target AP.
Optionally, the first communication packet may be a discovery request packet or an addition request packet. The embodiment of the present application takes the first communication packet as a discovery request packet as an example for introduction. Correspondingly, after the target AP is started, the target AP may obtain an MAC address of a port directly connected to the target AP on the switch through a Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). The target AP may then send a discovery request message to the AC in the WLAN. The discovery request message carries a target model number and a target serial number of the target AP and an MAC address of the target direct connection port. The situation that the first communication message is the join request message is similar to that of the first communication message, and details are not repeated in the application.
The target AP may add a Type Length Value (TLV) field to the discovery request packet to carry the MAC address of the destination direct connection port.
Step 302, receiving a second communication packet carrying the working parameter information sent by the AC, and providing a wireless access service according to the working parameter information.

At step 502, the target AP2 sends a discovery request message to the AC.
The discovery request message carries the target model and the target serial number of the target AP2, and the MAC address of the target direct connection port acquired by the target AP.
Step 503, the AC queries the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number in the pre-stored AP information table.
Step 504, if the AP information table does not have the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the target serial number, the AC queries the working parameter information corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port in the AP information table.
And 505, the AC modifies the serial number corresponding to the target model and the MAC address of the target direct connection port in the AP information table into a target serial number.
