Description

Electronic device, method thereof, and computer-readable recording medium
The application is a divisional application of an invention patent application with the application date of 2012, 8/21/2012, the application number of 201280056464.3 and the name of 'method and system for searching objects in a network'.
Technical Field
The present invention relates generally to a method and system for searching objects in a network, and more particularly, to an object searching method and system for searching objects in a network and providing a service between the objects.
Background
The process of performing services between devices in a network is somewhat complex. That is, a host device is selected, and a user of the host device inputs a scan command to the host device to search for neighboring devices, and then searches for devices and selects a device serving as a client device from among the searched devices. Therefore, it is inconvenient to separately search for and select a host device and a client device from among devices that are part of a network. Therefore, it is required to develop a method of providing services to various devices more conveniently.
Fig. 1 is a diagram showing a conventional network constituted by a plurality of devices. The plurality of devices in the network are divided into a plurality of network groups, e.g., network groups a to C. And then selects a device as a host device from among each of the network groups a to C. The user then searches for other devices in each of the network groups a to C by inputting a scan command to each host device, and then selects a device serving as a client device from among the searched devices.
Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a method of performing a service between devices in a network. First, in step S201, a network group in which a service is performed is set or selected. For example, a network group is selected from network groups a to C of fig. 1. In step S203, a link command "ON (ON)" is transmitted to the user equipment. In step S205, it is determined whether there is a neighboring apparatus that belongs to the set/selected network group and to which the link command "on" is transmitted. In step S207, if it is determined in step S205 that such a neighboring device does not exist, the user device joins the set/selected network group as a host device. In step S209, it is determined whether there is another neighboring apparatus that belongs to the set/selected network group and to which the link command "on" is transmitted. In step S211, if it is determined in step S209 that such a neighboring device exists, the neighboring device is allowed to join the set/selected network group as a client. In step S213, a service is executed. In step S215, if it is determined in step S205 that such a neighboring device exists, the user equipment joins the set/selected network group as a client. In step S213, a service is executed.
According to this method, information on an object to be serviced or an object to be accessed should be recognized first by the host device, and some of the information should be stored. During execution of the service, the mode of the device, i.e. whether the device is a host or a client, should be determined and a waiting mode should be entered to receive additional services.
Further, it is difficult to efficiently provide services to devices in various networks, and it is difficult to efficiently search for the location of each device in different networks. Therefore, it is inconvenient to provide the service and check the result of providing the service.
Korean patent publication No. 2011-0038842, entitled "System and Method for Connecting Network-based Host devices," discloses a technique related to a Network connection System.
However, the above patent documents do not teach a method of efficiently searching for devices in different networks and detecting the location of each searched device to make it more convenient to provide services.

Detailed Description
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Like elements will be designated by like reference numerals throughout the drawings.
Throughout this specification, it will be understood that when an element such as a layer, region or substrate is referred to as being "connected to" or "coupled to" another element, it can be directly connected or coupled to the other element or can be electrically connected or coupled to the other element via the other element.
Further, the term "service" refers to a service provided between devices, and may include, for example, at least one of an information search service for searching information on a target device, a file transfer service, a content streaming service, a content printing service, a file sharing service, and a remote control service.
In this specification, a terminal that provides a service and searches for an object is referred to as a "first device", and a terminal that receives a service and is detected by the first device is referred to as a "second device". However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the second device searches for and provides a service to the first device.
Fig. 3 is a diagram illustrating a plurality of devices participating in a network according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to fig. 3, a plurality of devices, i.e., A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, and C3, are included in different networks, e.g., network group a, network group B, and network group C.
The device A1 belonging to the network group a provides a service, and detects any one of devices to be provided with the service or an object included in such a device. An object is software or an application included in a device and is installed in the device to provide a service. The device A1 searches for a device in which an object corresponding to an object for providing a service included in the device A1 is being executed. For example, if an application a is included in the device A1 and the device A1 is to provide a service to other devices by using the application a, the device A1 searches for the devices A2, A3, B1, and C2 that are executing the application a. Device A1 is a first device and devices A2, A3, B1, and C2 are second devices.
The device A1 searches for devices in various networks or objects included in the devices based on various communication methods. For example, device A1 searches for device B1 in network group B and device C2 in network group C. The search is performed according to any of various communication methods based on whether the object search is performed in the same network or whether the search object is defined.
The device A1 receives terminal information and location information from the searched devices (or objects), and creates a list of the searched devices to reflect the terminal information and the location information.
Examples of the apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention are various types of terminals capable of exchanging data with other terminals via a network, such as a Television (TV) including an Internet Protocol (IP) Set Top Box (STB), a smart TV, a computer, a notebook computer, or a personal portable terminal.
A method of searching for an object in a network and providing a service according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to fig. 4.
Fig. 4 is a flowchart illustrating a method of searching for an object in a network and providing a service, which is performed by a first device, according to an embodiment of the present invention. In step S400, the search condition is checked. Specifically, in step S400, the first device checks an object search condition for searching for a neighboring object. The object search condition is a condition on a communication method used to search for an object. For example, the object search condition is set and stored in a configuration file of the first device, but is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the target search condition is stored in an external server (not shown), and the first device receives the object search condition from the external server.
The object search condition is set in such a manner that different communication methods are used based on whether the object search is performed in the same network and whether the search object is defined. For example, if both a first device as a detection device and a second device as a search target exist in the same network and a search object is not defined, the object search condition is set in such a manner that the first device searches for an object from the second device based on broadcasting or multicasting.
If a first device as a detection device and a second device as a search target exist in the same network and the search target is defined, the object search condition is set in such a manner that the first device searches for an object based on unicast. In this case, user Datagram Protocol (UDP) unicast is used.
If a first device as a detection device and a second device as a search target exist in different networks, an object search condition is set in such a manner that the first device searches for an object based on broadcast and UDP unicast.
In step S410, an object is searched for. Specifically, in step S410, the first device searches for an object based on the object search condition. If the first device searches for an object in a network to which the first device belongs, the first device may broadcast a communication regarding whether a specific object is installed in a second device in the network, for example, via an Access Point (AP) of the network. If the first device searches for an object in a different network, the first device may broadcast a communication as to whether a specific object is installed in the second device that is a search target, for example, via an AP of a network to which the second device belongs. Further, the first device may communicate with the second device regarding whether a specific object is installed in the second device in a different network according to UDP unicast.
In addition, in step S410, the first device searches whether an object corresponding to an object for providing a service installed in the first device is installed in the second device. Here, the corresponding object is identical to or compatible with an object providing a service in the first device.
Further, in step S410, the first device provides the second device with an identifier of an object that is being executed in the first device itself to provide the service. Alternatively, the first device provides the second device with an identifier of an object compatible with an object that is executing in the first device itself to provide the service.
In step S420, the results of the search are periodically updated. In step S420, the first device may periodically check whether the searched object is activated. In step S420, the first device may communicate with the second device as a search target as to whether an object installed in the second device is activated, and may update the result of the search based on a response to the communication received from the second device. In addition, the first device may register or unregister an object installed in the second device and provide a service to the registered and activated object.
In step S430, the result of the search is displayed on the screen. In step S430, the first device receives the terminal information and the location information from the second device, and creates and displays a list of searched devices to reflect the terminal information and the location information. The second device creates its location information, for example, by detecting its own location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or by performing triangulation operations based on signal strength.
The list of searched devices may include an identifier of the object, an identifier of the second device, an identifier of a network to which the second device belongs, and location information of the second device. The list of searched devices also includes wireless fidelity
Figure BDA0001483952760000081
An AP name of the network, an application name, a name of the second device, or a user identifier or location value of the second device.
The list of searched devices is displayed in a pop-up window on the screen of the first device.
In step S440, the service is provided to the searched object. In step S440, the object in the first device is connected to the searched object in the second device, and a service is provided from the first device to the second device via the connected object. The service provided from the first device to the second device includes, for example, at least one of an information search service for searching information on the target device, a file transfer service, a content streaming service, a content printing service, a file sharing service, and a remote control service.
In step S420, updating of the result of the search is performed while performing operations S430 and S440, and the updating of the result of the search is repeatedly performed at a predetermined cycle. The predetermined period is set differently for each device.
Fig. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a method of searching for an object performed by a first device according to an embodiment of the present invention. In step S500, it is determined whether the object search is performed in the same network. In step S500, the first device determines whether to search for an object included in a second device in a network to which the first device itself belongs. In addition, in step S500, when a user input instructing execution of an object search is received, the first device determines whether to search for an object in a network to which the first device itself belongs based on the user input, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
If it is determined in step S500 that the object search is performed in the same network, step S510 is performed.
In step S510, it is determined whether a search object is defined. In step S510, the first device determines whether to search for an object in a specific device or to search for an object in an arbitrary device. Further, in step S510, when a user input instructing execution of an object search is received, the first device determines whether to search for an object in the specific device based on the user input, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
In step S520, if it is determined in step S510 that the search object is not defined, the search object is searched according to broadcasting. In step S520, the first device searches for an object by communicating with a plurality of devices as to whether a specific object is installed in the plurality of devices according to broadcasting, and receives a response from the device in which the specific object is installed.
In step S530, if it is determined in step S510 that the search object is defined, the object is searched according to the unicast. In step S530, the first device searches for an object by communicating with a specific device according to unicast as to whether the specific object is installed in the specific device, and receives a response from the specific device.
In step S540, if it is determined in step S500 that the object search should not be performed in the same network, the first device searches for objects based on broadcast and unicast. In step S540, the first device searches for an object by communicating with a specific device according to broadcasting and unicasting as to whether the specific object is installed in the specific device, and receives a response from the specific device.
In the method shown in fig. 5, at least one of broadcasting and unicasting is used based on whether object searching is performed in the same network and whether a search object is defined.
Fig. 6 is a flowchart illustrating a method of searching for an object and providing a service between devices in a network according to an embodiment of the present invention. In fig. 6, a first device 600 is a detection device, and a second device 610 and a third device 620 are search targets. In other words, in fig. 6, a first device 600 in a network a provides a service, and a second device 610 and a third device 620, which are search targets, are included in the network a and the network B, respectively.
In step S600, the first device 600 checks a search condition. In step S600, the first apparatus 600 checks an object search condition for searching for a neighboring object. The object search condition is preset and stored in, for example, a configuration file of the first device 600. Alternatively, the object search condition is stored in an external server (not shown), and the first device 600 receives the object search condition from the external server. The object search condition is set in such a manner that different communication methods are used based on whether the object search should be performed in the same network and whether the search object is defined.
In step S602, the first device 600 searches for an object based on the communication method determined according to the search condition. In step S602, the first device 600 may communicate with the second device 610 and the third device 620 as to whether a specific object is included in the second device 610 and the third device 620 based on whether object search should be performed in the same network and whether a search target is defined. Further, in step S602, the first device 600 provides the second device 610 and the third device 620 with an identifier of an object being executed in the first device 600 to provide a service.
Further, in step S602, if the search target is not defined, since both the first device 600 and the second device 610 exist in the network a, the first device 600 communicates with the second device 610 as to whether a specific object is included in the second device 610 according to broadcasting or multicasting. If the search target is defined, the first device 600 communicates with the second device 610 according to unicast as to whether a specific object is being performed in the second device 610.
In addition, in step S602, since the first device 600 is a part of the network a and the third device 620 is a part of the network B, the first device 600 communicates with the third device 620 according to broadcasting and unicasting as to whether a specific object is being performed in the third device 620.
In step S604, the second device 610 checks whether the same application as the application being executed in the first device 600 is being executed in the second device 610 itself. In step S604, the second device 610 checks whether a specific object, for example, an application, is being executed in the second device 610 itself based on the object identifier received from the first device 600.
In step S608, if it is determined in step S604 that the same application is being executed in the second device 610, the second device 610 notifies the first device 600 of this fact. In step S608, the second device 610 provides the device identifier or the identifier of the device user to the first device 600, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
In step S606, the third device 620 checks whether the same application as the application being executed in the first device 600 is being executed in the third device 620 itself. In step S606, the third device 620 checks whether a specific object, for example, an application, is being executed in the third device 620 based on the object identifier received from the first device 600.
In step S607, if it is determined in step S606 that the same application is not being executed, the third device 620 responds to the first device 600.
In step S610, the first device 600 creates a list corresponding to the search result. In step S610, the first device 600 creates a list based on the reply received from the second device 610 in step S608. The list may include an identifier of the network a to which the second device 610 belongs, an identifier of the second device 610, and an identifier of the user of the second device 610, and so on.
In step S612, the first device 600 communicates with the second device 610 as to whether an application in the second device 610 is activated. In step S612, the first device 600 provides the identifier of the specific application to the second device 610 and communicates with the second device 610 as to whether the specific application in the second device 610 is activated. In step S612, the first device 600 communicates with the second device 610 at a predetermined cycle as to whether an application in the second device 610 is activated. The predetermined period is preset based on the types and operational characteristics of the first device 600 and the second device 610. For example, when the second device 610 is a mobile terminal, the first device 600 sets the predetermined period to be short, and when the second device 610 is a Personal Computer (PC), the first device 600 sets the predetermined period to be long.
In step S614, the second device 610 notifies the first device 600 about whether the application in the second device 610 is activated in response to the response from the first device 600. In step S616, the first device 600 updates the list corresponding to the search result. In step S616, the first device 600 may update the list corresponding to the search result based on the response periodically received from the second device 610, and may update the list corresponding to the search result when the second device 610 is registered with the first device 600 or the registration of the second device 610 is cancelled.
In step S618, the first device 600 requests the second device 610 to provide location information of the second device 610. In step S620, the second device 610 provides its location information to the first device 600. The location information of the second device is created, for example, by detecting its location using GPS signals or by performing triangulation based on signal strength.
In step S622, the first device 600 creates an image containing the search result to reflect the location information of the second device 610 and displays the image on the screen of the first device 600. In step S622, the first device 600 creates an image containing the search result, the application identifier, the identifier of the second device 610, the identifier of the network a containing the second device 610, and the location information of the second device 610, and displays the image in a pop-up window on the screen of the first device 600 itself.
In step S624, the first device 600 provides a service to the second device 610. An application in the first device 600 is connected to an application in the second device, and a service is provided from the first device 600 to the second device 610 via the connected application. Here, the service may include, for example, at least one of an information search service for searching information on the target device, a file transfer service, a content streaming service, a content printing service, a file sharing service, and a remote control service.
Fig. 7 is a table illustrating a list of searched devices according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to fig. 7, the table is displayed on a screen 700 of the device and may include a network identifier field 70, a device identifier field 72, and a location information field 74.
In the network identifier field 70, an identifier of the network to which each detected device belongs is recorded. In the device identifier field 72, an identifier of each detected device or an identifier of a user of each detected device is recorded. In the location information field 74, location information about each detected device is recorded.
Accordingly, if a service is provided from a first device to a second device, the first device determines whether the service is to be provided to the second device or a type of the service to be provided to the second device based on location information of the second device. If the printing service is provided from the first device to the second device, the user can easily obtain a printing result via the second device by checking location information of the second device.
Fig. 8 is a diagram illustrating a service between a plurality of devices in a network according to an embodiment of the present invention. Specifically, fig. 8 shows a screen of the device a and a screen of the device B, in which the photo file transfer service is performed between the devices a to D when the device a detects the devices B, C and D and the devices a to D are connected to each other.
Referring to part (a) of fig. 8, a plurality of photographs are displayed on the screen of the device a, and devices B to D connected to the device a are respectively displayed in lower regions of the screen of the device a. If the user of device a performs a photo file transfer service from device a to device D, the user may touch and drag one of the plurality of photos to a lower region of the screen on which Chris, a user, is displayed. Dragging a photo is an event that initiates a photo file transfer service. Physical pressing of a button on the device, and touching, dragging, and pasting text onto the screen of the device may also be events that initiate a photo file transfer service. Further, the input utterance is an event that starts a photo file transfer service.
Referring to part (B) of fig. 8, devices A, C and D connected to device B may also be displayed on the screen of device B detected by device a. The user of the device B may transmit one of the plurality of photos displayed on the screen to the device D by touching and dragging the photo to a lower region of the screen on which the device D of which the user is Chris displayed.
If both the device a and the device B perform a photo file transfer service of transmitting a photo file to the device D, that is, if some of the devices in the network recognize a predetermined event of starting the service and provide the service to the same device, the service provided from each of the devices is independently performed. In other words, each of the devices a and B in the network can independently search for and access the device D, and provide the photo file transfer service to the device D.
Fig. 9 is a diagram illustrating a service between devices connected to each other according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to fig. 9, when a user a presses a shutter release button of a device (a), an image captured by the device (a) is displayed on a screen of a device (B) belonging to a user B.
An icon representing user B (Jane) is displayed on the left area of the screen of device (a). This means that the device (a) of the user a and the device (B) of the user B recognize each other to perform the service. When device (a) recognizes an event that initiates a service, for example, when device (a) detects that its shutter release button is pressed, pairing is performed between device (a) and device (b). After the pairing is completed, information on the execution of the service is set in the device (a) and the device (b). Then the pairing is ended, and then a service is performed between the device (a) and the device (b). Setting a network group for executing a service, checking a host/client mode during service execution, entering a waiting mode to provide an additional service, and performing an authentication procedure for executing the service are skipped, thereby improving convenience in providing the service between the device (a) and the device (b).
Fig. 10 is a block diagram illustrating a structure of a first device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Referring to fig. 10, the first apparatus includes a search condition setting unit 1000, an object search unit 1100, an object search update unit 1200, a search result display unit 1300, a service providing unit 1400, a controller 1500, a display unit 1600, a Database (DB) 1700, and a transceiver 1800.
The search condition setting unit 1000 sets an object search condition. The set object search condition is stored, for example, in a configuration file contained in the DB 1700 or in an external server (not shown).
The search condition setting unit 1000 sets the object search condition in such a manner that the object is searched using different communication methods based on whether the object search is performed in the same network and whether the search target is defined. For example, if a first device as a detection device and a second device as a search target both exist in the same network and a target object is not defined, the search condition setting unit 1000 sets an object search condition in such a manner that the first device searches for an object in the second device based on broadcasting or multicasting.
If the first device and the second device exist in the same network and a target object is defined, the search condition setting unit 1000 sets the object search condition in such a manner that the first device searches for an object in the second device based on unicast. In this case, UDP unicast is used.
The search condition setting unit 1000 sets the object search condition in such a manner that the first device searches for an object in the second device based on broadcast and unicast UDP unicast if the first device and the second device exist in different networks.
The object searching unit 1100 searches for an object according to the object search condition. If the object search unit 1100 searches for an object in a network to which the first device and the second device belong, the object search unit 1100 may broadcast a communication regarding whether a specific object is installed in the second device, for example, via an AP of the network. If the object search unit 1100 searches for an object in a different network to which the first device does not belong, the object search unit 1100 may broadcast a communication regarding whether a specific object is installed in the second device that is a search target, for example, via an AP of the different network to which the second device belongs. The object search unit 1100 searches whether a specific object is installed in a second device in the different network according to UDP unicast.
The object search unit 1100 searches whether an object corresponding to an object installed in the first device for providing a service is installed in the second device. Here, the object corresponding to the object in the first device is the same as or compatible with the object in the first device.
The object search unit 1100 provides the second device with an identifier of an object being executed in the first device to provide a service. Further, the first device provides the second device with an identifier of an object compatible with an object being executed in the first device to provide the service. The second device notifies the first device, using the identifier(s), whether the object has been installed or is executing in the second device.
The target search updating unit 1200 periodically updates the result of searching for an object. The target search updating unit 1200 periodically checks whether the searched object is activated. The target search updating unit 1200 periodically communicates with the second device as to whether an object in the second device is activated, receives a response to the communication from the second device, and then updates the result of the search. Further, the object search update unit 1200 may register or unregister an object installed in the second device and provide a service to the registered and activated object.
Further, the object search update unit 1200 periodically updates the results of the search while the search result display unit 1300 and the service providing unit 1400 perform their own operations. The period of updating the results of the search may be set differently for each device.
The search result display unit 1300 displays the result of the search on the screen. The search result display unit 1300 receives the terminal information and the location information from the second device, creates a list of searched devices to reflect the received terminal information and location information, and provides this list to the display unit. The location information of the second device is created by the second device, for example, by detecting its location using GPS or by performing triangulation operations based on signal strength.
The searched list of devices contains an identifier of the object, an identifier of the second device, an identifier of a network to which the second device belongs, and location information of the second device. The list of searched devices further includes
Figure BDA0001483952760000141
An AP name of the network, an application name, a name of the second device or an identifier of a user of the second device, and a location value of the second device, but is not limited thereto. The user can effectively check the result of providing the service between the devices by checking the location information of the devices included in the searched list of the devices. For example, if a service is provided from a first device to a second device, a user of the first device determines whether the service has been provided to the second device based on location information of the second device. If a printing service is provided from a first device to a second device, a user of the first device easily obtains a result of printing from the second device by checking location information of the second device.
The service providing unit 1400 provides a service to the second device. The service providing unit 1400 may connect a first device and a second device and allow the first device to provide a service to the second device. The service may include at least one of an information search service for searching information on the target device, a file transfer service, a content streaming service, a content printing service, a file sharing service, and a remote control service.
The controller 1500 controls the search condition setting unit 1000, the object search unit 1100, the object search update unit 1200, the search result display unit 1300, the service providing unit 1400, the display unit 1600, the DB 1700, and the transceiver 1800 to search for an object corresponding to an object in the first device, display the result of the search, and provide a service to the second device. Further, the controller 1500 may control the overall operation of the first device.
The display unit 1600 displays a list of searched devices that have been created. The display unit 1600 displays this list in a pop-up window.
The DB 1700 stores various data required to search for an object corresponding to an object in a first device, display the result of the search, and provide a service to a second device. The DB 1700 may store object search conditions, a list of searched devices, and the like.
The transceiver 1800 transmits and receives various data required to search for an object corresponding to an object in the first device, display the result of the search, and provide a service to the second device.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the search condition setting unit 1000, the object search unit 1100, the object search update unit 1200, the search result display unit 1300, the service providing unit 1400, the controller 1500, the display unit 1600, the DB 1700, and the transceiver 1800 operate as separate units. However, some or all of these elements operate under the control of one processor.
In addition, according to an embodiment of the present invention, operations of the search condition setting unit 1000, the object search unit 1100, the object search update unit 1200, the search result display unit 1300, the service providing unit 1400, the controller 1500, the display unit 1600, the DB 1700, and the transceiver 1800 are performed according to a software program installed on the first device.

Referring to fig. 11, an application 1 is installed in a device a, a device B, a device C, and a device E.
If the search target is not defined, device a searches for devices B and C in network a that are executing application 1 according to the broadcast. If the search target is defined, device a searches each of devices B and C, which are executing application 1, in network a according to unicast. Device a searches for device E in network B using broadcast and UDP unicast. Therefore, the device a can efficiently search for devices in various networks.
The list of searched devices displayed on the screen of the device a also contains location information of the searched devices B to E. Accordingly, the user of the device a effectively determines whether the service is provided to the devices B to E.
