技术领域
本发明总体上涉及电连接系统,更具体地涉及具有带接触脊的电端子的电连接系统,所述接触脊被配置成提供减少的端子啮合力。
背景技术
电连接系统中使用冲压端子,阴型冲压端子能包括用于为阳型端子提供集中的接触点的带有肋部的接触面。在一些应用,阴型端子中的这个接触面被压花并突然升入阳型端子的通道,如图1所示连接系统。
关于连接系统的重复的客户抱怨是两个配对连接器的啮合力太大。然而有一些方法可被用于减少啮合力,一些改变比其他的更有效。一些连接器针对它们的冲压端子使用了有低摩擦系数的不同的材料,而其他的连接器使用了润滑油,诸如油脂或油。

发明内容
根据第一实施例,呈现了一种电连接系统,所述电连接系统包括阳端子和被配置成接收阳型端子的阴型端子。阴型端子有限定从接触件垂直延伸且沿着接触件纵向延伸的脊或多个脊的弹性接触件。弹性接触件可由悬臂梁表征。脊被配置成在阴型端子和阳型端子之间提供接触点。所述弹性接触件可具有限定顶点的弓形形状并且脊延伸过该顶点。脊的前沿与弹性接触件形成大于0度且小于或等于30度的角。这个角可以优选为大约10度。前沿可以是基本上线性的。脊可以通过对接触件压花来形成。

具体实施方式
发明人观察到当一个端子插入另一个端子时的啮合力遵循一模式:当阳型端子插入阴型端子时,克服摩擦力和来自阴型端子的反作用力所需要的力增加到一峰值,然后减少并稳定到相对恒定的啮合力直到阳型端子完全插入阴型端子。为了减少客户抱怨高啮合力,峰值啮合力应该被减少尽可能多。
本文中呈现的连接系统通过增加阴型端子上的冲压脊上的导入角来减少峰值啮合力。在大多数情况下,接触脊被压花到金属中并且当阳型端子被插入时,接触脊抵靠这个凸起材料直到施加的力足够大来滑动并滑过压花材料。所提出的发明是有刻度的压花,其中导入角被应用于压花材料,从而使得在插入后,配对的阳型接口逐步地遇到接触脊,并且需要更少的克服凸起材料的力。
图1示出了电连接系统10的非限制性示例。电连接系统10包括一对模制的介电连接器外壳12,14。第一连接器外壳12是阴型连接器外壳12,第二连接器外壳14是与阴型连接器外壳12配对的阳型连接器外壳14。连接器外壳12,14具有被配置成保留电端子的数个腔16,该电端子附连至线缆18的一端。阳型连接器外壳14包含数个阳型叶片或插头类型的端子20,而阴型连接器外壳包含被配置成接收阳型端子的数个阴型端子或插座端子22。阴型端子22是具有为弹性接触件的盒式阴型端子,该弹性接触件被设计成在阳型端子20和阴型端子22之间施加接触力从而在两者之间提供可靠的电连接。在这个非限制性示例中,如2012年12月8日提出的美国专利8,333,662中描述的,阴型端子22是双接触梁端子,该申请的全部内容通过引用结合于此。
图2示出了现有技术的阴型端子122,其具有在弹性接触臂128的顶面126中通过压花加工形成的一对纵向凸出物124或接触脊124。如在图2中可见,接触脊124的前沿130,即接触脊124离端子插入端132最近的端,是钝的。所述钝的前沿130相对于接触臂128的顶面126形成大于45度的角θ。
图3示出了纳入创新性特征的阴型端子222的非限制性示例。所示示例包括通过压花加工在弹性接触臂228的顶面226形成的一对纵向凸出物224或接触脊224。如在图3中可见,接触脊224的前沿230形成斜坡234,该斜坡234相对于接触臂228的顶面226限定大于0度且小于或等于30度的角Φ。这个接触脊224由使用特别设计的工具的压花加工形成来获得所需斜坡角Φ。
图4示出了用虚线轮廓线示出的阴型端子122的前沿130相对于用实线示出的阴型端子222的前沿230的比较。在示出的示例中的斜坡234有大约10度的角Φ。如在这里使用的,大约10度是在7.5度与12.5度之间的范围。如可看到的,前沿230上的斜坡234比前沿130有小得多的突变。如在图4中可以进一步看到的,脊在每个接触臂128,228的顶点(即接触臂与阳型端子接触的点)处的高度在两个阴型端子122,222中是相同的。阴型端子222因此提供与阴型端子122相同的最终接触力。
图5示出了阴型端子122和阴型端子222的啮合的测试结果的比较,其中阴型端子222具有大约10度的斜坡角Φ。如可看到的,在维持相同的标准偏差242,142并且在仍提供相同的最终接触力的同时,与阴型端子222的峰值啮合力的最小值136、最大值138和平均值140相比较,阴型端子222的峰值啮合力的最小值236、最大值238和平均值240减少了大约37%。
虽然所示实施例包括一对接触脊,但替代的实施例可预期具有单一接触脊或多于两个接触脊。虽然所示示例中的斜坡是在压花加工期间形成的,但实施例使用其他方法来形成斜坡,例如研磨或材料沉积。为了减少峰值啮合力,前沿上的斜坡也可被用于其他端子设计,包括阳型叶片状端子。
因此,提供了具有阴型端子222的电连接系统10。在阴型端子222的接触脊224的前沿上形成的坡234提供在阳型端子和阴型端子222之间的点接触的益处,同时减少了操作者在将阴型端子和阳型端子配对时体验到的峰值啮合力236,238,240。

Claims (14)

1.一种电连接器系统(10),包括:
阳型端子(20);和
阴型端子(222),配置成接收所述阳型端子(20),其中,所述阴型端子(222)具有弹性接触件(228),所述弹性接触件(228)限定从所述弹性接触件(228)垂直延伸并沿着所述弹性接触件(228)纵向延伸的脊(224),其中所述脊(224)被配置成提供在所述阴型端子(222)和所述阳型端子(20)之间的接触点,并且特征在于所述脊(224)的前沿(230)与所述弹性接触件(228)形成大于0度且小于或等于30度的角(Φ)。
