Description

Baby harness
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a carrying harness designed primarily for carrying a child in a forward or rearward position against the chest and abdomen of a carrier.
Background
Humans have long carried children of all ages on the back or in front of the chest. Previously, children were often carried with simple cloth, but many parents now opt to use so-called baby carriers to get the child close to themselves, while also freeing up their hands. Since many children prefer to be carried, they tend to sit on the harness for long periods of time, meaning that the ergonomics of the child and the carrier are important.
In EP2491825A2 a child carrier is described, which comprises an insert by means of which the width of the sitting area of the carrier can be changed when the child is placed in a rearward position. The wider seating area provides a more ergonomic seating position for the child, but the harness has the disadvantage that the insert is a removable component that is easily lost. Furthermore, the insert can only be used when the child sits backwards
WO2015/053696A1 describes a baby carrier with adjustable seat height. The baby back frame is specially designed for carrying the child and the carrier face to face, the seat height is adjustable, and the baby back frame can be used when the child grows up. The disadvantage of this harness is that it does not allow the child to be carried in a forward position.
WO 2014/01102 A1 discloses another type of baby carrier, mentioned here as another example of the background art. One disadvantage of such a baby carrier is that it is not possible to carry the child in a sitting position facing forward.
From the above, there is room for improvement.
Disclosure of Invention
It is an object of the present invention to provide a new infant carrier which is improved over the prior art, which obviates or at least mitigates the above-mentioned disadvantages. More specifically, it is an object of the present invention to provide a baby carrier that provides a comfortable and ergonomic sitting position for a baby when carrying the baby forward and backward. These objects are achieved by the technology set forth in the attached independent claims, preferred embodiments being defined in the dependent claims.
In a first aspect, a baby carrier is provided having a front portion, an abdomen, two shoulder straps, each having a first end portion and a second end portion, and a waist belt. The first end of each shoulder strap is fixedly attached to the abdomen and the second end is attached to the front. The front portion and the abdomen are attached to the waistband in such a way that the abdomen and the front portion are at least partially detachably connected to the waistband. The advantage of such a baby carrier is that the connection between the abdomen and the waistband can be adjusted by being partly detachable. It provides the harness with flexibility and seating options not available with existing harnesses.
In one embodiment, the belt is fixedly attached along a medial portion of the front and abdomen and removably attached along two lateral portions of the front and abdomen (on either side of the medial portion, respectively). This is advantageous because it provides flexibility to the baby carrier, since the width of the sitting area and the angle of the sides can be varied.
In one embodiment, the side portions are attached to the waistband by a zipper that can be opened in one operation by a common pull cord or two separate zipper pulls. When a child is carried on his back, there are a number of things to be noted; holding the child, adjusting the child's position on the back strap, and comfort him, etc., it is therefore highly advantageous to be able to manipulate the zipper with one hand. It is also advantageous to operate the zipper with a separate zipper pull, as this is an inexpensive and robust design.
The side portion may be attached to the waistband by one of the following fastening means: slide fasteners, buttons, velcro, buttons or hooks. These fastening means provide a secure but easy to handle connection for the sides.
In one embodiment, the intersection of the front and abdomen with the waistband includes a zipper that can be opened in two directions. This is advantageous in the production of baby carriers, as it is easy to attach a single zipper. Thus, a single zipper is more cost effective, depending on the effort expended to attach a single zipper and, although longer, less expensive than two shorter zippers.
In another embodiment, the zipper includes two stops such that the opening is limited to two sides along both the front and the belly.
Preferably, the baby carrier has a bottom part fixedly attached to the front part and detachably attached to the abdomen so that it can be moved between at least two positions. The first position of the bottom is a lower position in which the bottom follows the contour of the lower part of the front and of the lower part of the skirt. The second position of the base is a higher position where a distance is provided between the base and the front and abdomen. The adjustable bottom provides the harness with the flexibility to carry larger (larger) or smaller (smaller) children without sacrificing their comfort.
In one embodiment, the harness has two clearance straps, each having a first end and a second end. The first end is sewn to the front portion and the second end is removably connected to the shoulder strap. The gap is advantageous for the stability of the baby carrier.
In a second aspect, a method for adjusting a baby carrier from a rearward seating position to a forward seating position is provided. In this method, the zipper is opened so that the front and the two sides of the abdomen are disengaged from the waistband, and the baby carrier has support means for the legs of the child when the child is seated in the forward position. The baby carrier provides this seating option advantageously, since the pediatricians recommend that the child to be carried sit in a so-called frog position, in which their thighs are substantially parallel to the ground and the knees and buttocks are at substantially the same level.
In one embodiment, the zipper is operable by a common pull cord. This is advantageous because the harness can be converted from the reclined position to the sitting position in one operation. This is valuable to parents who often need to carry many things.
In another embodiment, the zipper can be operated by two separate zipper pulls. This is advantageous because opening/closing is simple and inexpensive, and it is a robust construction.

Detailed Description
Hereinafter, certain embodiments will be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein, but rather these embodiments are provided as examples only to thereby complete and complete the scope of the invention, which is defined by the claims.
In fig. 1-4, the baby carrier 100 is shown in a position in which the child sits rearwardly (i.e., face-to-face with the carrier). Harness 100 has a front 101, an abdomen 118, a waist belt 102 and two shoulder straps 103a,103b. It also has a bottom 109, which will be explained in more detail in connection with fig. 5-6. The first ends 129a,129b of the shoulder straps 103a,103b, respectively, are attached to the upper portion of the abdomen 118 and the second ends 130a,130b are releasably attached to the middle portion of the front portion 101 by buckles 106a,106 b. The front portion is also connected to shoulder straps 103a,103b by gap straps 126a,126 b. The gap strips each have a first end 127a,127b and a second end 128a,128b. The first ends 127a,127b are sewn to the front portion 101 and the second ends are removably attached to the shoulder straps 103a,103b by buckles 105a,105 b. The two shoulder straps 103a,103b are interconnected by an intermediate strap 107 that is releasable by buckle 110.
The belt 102 may be opened in two positions by means of buckles 104a,104 b. Alternatively, the waistband 102 can only be opened in one position. The front portion of the waistband 102 is attached to the lower portion of the front portion 101 and the lower portion of the abdomen 118 along the engagement portions a, B. The intermediate portion a of the joint portion between the front portion 101, the abdomen 118 and the waistband 102 is sewn or stitched and thus cannot be released. However, both end portions B of the engaging portion are provided with zippers 111a,111B, the function of which will be described later. The zippers 111a,111b are disposed in the folds of the fabric when in the closed condition and behind the edges 125 of the fabric when in the open condition so that they do not irritate or injure the carrier and child. In one embodiment, the sliders (not shown) of the zippers 111a,111b are each connected to a respective separate pull cord 112a,112b and to a common pull cord 113. A common pull cord 113 extends from the slider of each zipper 111a,111b and is located within the fabric of the front portion 101 until it protrudes through an opening 114 located in the center of the waistband 102. In another embodiment (not shown), the zipper is operated by a separate slider or slider only.
All embodiments of the baby carrier described herein have a sewn portion a and two detachable portions B, but it is also possible that the engaging portions a, B are provided by two zippers meeting in the middle. In this further embodiment, the front portion 101 and the abdomen 118 are completely detachable from the waistband 102. This may be beneficial, for example, when wearing harness 100.
In one embodiment, the zippers 111a,111b are attached to the waistband 102 and the front 101, in another embodiment they are attached to the waistband 102 and the abdomen 118, and as a further alternative they may be attached to the seam between the front 101 and the abdomen 118.
In an alternative embodiment, the front and abdomen comprise one integral piece (not shown) with the zippers 111a,111b attached to the waistband 102 and the integral piece. In yet another embodiment, an intermediate portion (not shown) is sewn to the waistband 102. In this embodiment, the zippers 111a,111b are attached to the middle portion of the front/abdomen. Alternatively, the intermediate portion is sewn to the front/abdomen and the zipper connects the intermediate portion to the waistband. The purpose of the zippers 111a,111b is to disconnect at least a portion of the front and abdomen from the waistband. The abdomen 118 and the front 101 may thus be at least partially detached from the waistband 102.
In addition, the baby carrier 100 has a pocket 108 in the front 101 closed with a zipper. This section will be described in more detail in connection with fig. 10 and 11.
The upper portion 121 of the front portion 101 is foldable into at least two positions. For example, as shown in fig. 1, in the first position, the upper portion 121 is raised and provides support for the child's head. In fig. 3, the upper part 121 is partially lowered so that the child's head becomes more free. This position of the upper portion 121 may be suitable for older children who do not like to be surrounded by a harness. A third position of the upper part 121 is shown in fig. 7, in which the upper part 121 is fully folded down, so that a child placed in the forward position can leave the face free.
In use, as can be seen, for example, in fig. 4, the waistband 102 wraps around the waist or buttocks of the wearer. The shoulder straps 103a,103b extend from the shoulders of the carrier around the back of the carrier and reach the front 101 at the level of the chest of the carrier, where they are releasably attached to the front 101 by means of buckles 106a,106 b. A child is placed between the front 101 and the abdomen 118 with the child's legs extending through the openings 122a,122b formed between the front 101 and the abdomen 118 such that they encircle the waist of the carrier, substantially parallel to the waist belt 102. The child's head is supported by the upper portion 121 of the front portion 101.
Referring now to fig. 5 and 6, bottom 109 is shown. First portion 115 of bottom 109 is stitched to front 101 by stitching 117. The opposite counterpart 116 of the bottom 109 is detachably connected to the belly 118 by means of a hook and eye connection. Alternatively, the connection may be replaced with buttons, zippers, velcro fasteners, snaps, buttons or any other suitable fastening means. The second portion 116 of the base 109 may also be attached to the abdomen 118 by stitching and the first portion 115 may be releasably attached to the front 101.
By means of the releasable second portion 116, the height of the bottom 109 can be changed between two positions. As shown in fig. 5, with the hooks of the second portion 116 attached in the first mode, a first lower position is provided in which the bottom 109 follows the contours of the lower portion of the front 101 and the lower portion of the belly 108. In the second, higher position, as shown in fig. 6, the hooks of the second portion 116 are attached in another pattern, providing a distance D between the engaging portions a, B between the bottom 109 and the front 101 and belly 118. This provides the harness 100 with the flexibility to accommodate smaller children with a higher position and larger children with a lower position.
In fig. 7-9, the baby carrier 100 is adjusted to a position in which the child sits forward (i.e., faces in the same direction as the carrier). To adjust the baby carrier 100 from the reclined position to the forward sitting position, the pull cord 113 needs to be pulled. This causes the zippers 111a,111B to open and disengage the two sides B from the waistband 102. The detached abdomen 118 and the front 101 together form support means 119a,119b for the legs of the child to be carried. Thus, when facing forward, the child sits in a so-called frog position.
As best shown in fig. 8-9 (circled portion), the two detachable ends B of the front portion 101 and the web portion 118 are disengaged, i.e., the zipper is opened. The detached end B is folded outwards and the legs of the child are placed in the support means 119a,119B formed by the front part 101 and the abdomen 118. In this position of the baby carrier 100, the child is placed between the front 101 and the abdomen 118, but facing in the same direction as the carrier. The legs of the child extend through the openings 122a,122b, but are now in a forward and downward orientation. Support for the legs of the child is provided by the detached portion B, which means that the child is also seated in a so-called frog position when facing forwards. The upper part 121 of the front part 101 is folded down so that the child's face is free and he/she can look forward.
Referring to fig. 10 and 11, a baby carrier 100 with a pocket 108 open is shown. The pocket 108 has a collapsible hat (cap) 120, shown here in an expanded state. The cap 120 extends from the pocket 108 on the outside of the front 101 and toward the carrier. It has straps 123a,123b, the straps 123a,123b being releasably connected to the shoulder straps 103a,103b by, for example, buttons 124a,124b or any other suitable fastening means. The cap 120 covers the infant's head to protect it from, for example, rain or sunlight. In one embodiment, the pocket 108 includes only the cap 120, but in another embodiment, the pocket 108 also has space for one or several other small items (e.g., pacifiers or diapers).
In another embodiment, as shown in fig. 12-13, the zippers 111a,111b may be replaced by one zipper 131, the zipper 131 extending across the entire intersection between the front 101, abdomen 118 and waistband 102. In this case, the slide fastener 131 may be opened from two directions. In addition, it includes two stops 132 positioned so that the slide fastener 131 can only be partially opened. The stop 132 is located where the portion B intersects the portion a. Thus, the single zipper 131 has the same effect and function as the two separate zippers 111a,11 b. The use of a single zipper 131 is advantageous in producing the baby carrier 100 because it is easy to add.
In one embodiment, abdomen 118 is approximately 20 centimeters in height. In other embodiments, it may be about 10 cm.
In one aspect, a baby carrier is provided by which a baby can be carried in two main positions: the first position is with the chest of the infant facing the carrier and the second position is with the back of the infant facing the carrier. The switching between the two main positions is achieved by arranging the harness with an at least partly detachable interface between the front, the abdomen and the waist belt.
It will be appreciated that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but that many possible modifications are possible within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
