Description

LCD display device for improving pattern display
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a display device for displaying a pattern (various kinds of numbers, letters, signs, marks, etc. of an irregular portion including a rectangular portion and a curved portion different from the rectangular portion, etc. that can be displayed by a vehicle), and more particularly, to an LCD display device for improving the display of a pattern.
Background
Conventionally, a liquid crystal display element that displays a number by using a plurality of liquid crystal display sections is provided in a device such as a vehicle or an elevator, and for example, seven liquid crystal display sections (including a plurality of dot-shaped liquid crystal display elements) are arranged in a "japanese" shape to display a number.
Further, there has been proposed a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying numerals, which is capable of displaying numerals having a beautiful outline, for example, italic arabic numerals, by increasing the number of liquid crystal display sections and optimizing the shape and arrangement of the liquid crystal display sections (see, for example, japanese patent laid-open No. h 11-126031).
Further, there has been proposed a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying numerals and letters (letters), in which a plurality of dot-shaped display elements are integrated into one liquid crystal display section, and the numerals and letters are displayed by controlling only the liquid crystal display section (see, for example, claim 1 of japanese patent laid-open No. 2007-206539).
Further, there is proposed a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying a numeral, as shown in fig. 6, including a plurality of segments 111 to 117 arranged in a shape of a Chinese character 'ri', and displaying a numeral by setting any of the segments to a light-emitting state, wherein the plurality of segments 111 to 117 are formed of seven segments in which three segments 111, 112, 113 extending in the left-right direction forming the Chinese character 'ri' shape and four segments 114, 115, 116, 117 extending from upper and lower ends of the Chinese character 'ri' shape toward a central portion, respectively, are combined, the segments 114, 115, 116, 117 corresponding to four corners of the Chinese character 'ri' shape are formed such that corners 111c of the four corners of the Chinese character 'ri' shape are cut off, and a plurality of quadrangular portions 111a are formed in parallel with gaps in a dot shape except for the portions where the corners 111c of the four corners are cut off, and the light-emitting state can be switched in units of the respective segments (for example, refer to claim 1, 1253-125208 of japanese patent application laid-open patent publication, Fig. 3).
However, although the above-mentioned japanese patent laid-open No. 2007-206539 has an improvement effect that the number of signals can be reduced and the cost can be reduced by forming a combination of a plurality of dot-shaped liquid crystal display elements/segments as one liquid crystal display segment and controlling the plurality of dot-shaped display elements collectively, this is premised on that the segments of the japanese character pattern display are numbers, and if the segment shape of the XY axis is an assembly of other arbitrary dot-shaped display elements such as a parallelogram, when it is desired to display a pattern other than numbers (characters, letters, symbols, signs, or signs of various types of abnormal portions including a rectangular portion and a curved portion different from the rectangular portion which can be displayed by a vehicle) by the dot-shaped display elements (LED display device), even if the fine size (the individual size of the dot-shaped display elements) is set to the technical limit, for the pattern desired to be displayed, it still looks rough.
Further, in japanese patent laid-open No. 2013-125208, focusing on a point that a liquid crystal display section (i.e., sections 111 to 117 in fig. 6) is arranged in a japanese character pattern to display a number finely, there is a technical problem that when a pattern other than a number (characters, letters, signs, and signs of various types of abnormal portions including a rectangular portion and a curved portion different from the rectangular portion, which can be displayed by a vehicle) is displayed, a pattern to be displayed looks rough, as in japanese patent laid-open No. 2007-206539.
Therefore, it is an urgent technical problem to provide an LCD display device for improving the display of a pattern, which can smoothly display an irregular portion in the pattern without roughness regardless of the number pattern or the pattern of characters, letters, signs, or signs.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an LCD display device for improving the display of a pattern, which can smoothly display an abnormal portion in the pattern without roughness, regardless of the number pattern or the pattern of characters, letters, signs, or symbols.
In order to solve the above-described technical problems, a first aspect of the present invention provides an LCD display device for improving pattern display, including a display portion of an LCD display as a region for displaying a pattern, in which display portion there are independently controlled display regions corresponding to each pattern to be displayed, one or more liquid crystal display sections are provided in the display regions, and a specific pattern is displayed in the display region of the display portion by turning on or off the one or more liquid crystal display sections, characterized in that the liquid crystal display sections are composed of a plurality of rectangular display elements each as a whole as one display unit and controlled independently of each other, and when power is applied, the whole display element is turned on to display a rectangular portion of the pattern, each of the plurality of the special-shaped display elements is constituted by a plurality of special-shaped line segment portions divided by one or more special-shaped dividing lines as one display unit, and the plurality of the special-shaped line segment portions of each of the special-shaped display elements are controlled independently of each other, and when the special-shaped line segment portions of the special-shaped display elements are energized, the entire display unit displays a special-shaped portion of the pattern equivalent to a portion where the energized special-shaped line segment portions appear.
With the above configuration, since the liquid crystal display section of the LCD display device includes both the rectangular display element and the irregular display element, the irregular portion (curved portion) in the pattern can be displayed smoothly without a rough feeling, regardless of the number pattern or the pattern of characters, letters, signs, or symbols, as compared with the LCD display device in which the liquid crystal display section is configured only by the rectangular display element in the related art.
A second aspect of the present invention is the LCD display device for improving pattern display according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the liquid crystal display section is characterized in that a plurality of irregular line segment portions of the irregular display elements are divided for each pattern to be displayed, so that a dividing line between the irregular line segment portions of the different irregular display elements, that is, an irregular dividing line matches a part of an outer contour of the pattern to be displayed.
According to the above configuration, since the plurality of irregular line segment portions of each of the irregular display elements can be divided for each of the patterns to be displayed, only a part of the irregular display elements can be lit when displaying the irregular portion (curved portion) in the pattern, and the dividing line between the irregular line segment portions of each of the irregular display elements, that is, the irregular dividing line can be completely matched with the outer contour of the pattern to be displayed, and a jagged rough feeling does not occur even in the case of high definition.
The LCD display device for improving the display of a design according to the third aspect of the present invention is the LCD display device for improving the display of a design according to the first aspect of the present invention, wherein the design is a number, a letter, a sign, or a symbol having a rectangular portion and/or an irregular portion different from the rectangular portion.
According to the above configuration, as compared with the case where only rectangular arabic numerals can be displayed finely in the related art, numerals, letters, signs, and signs having rectangular portions and/or irregular portions different from the rectangular portions can be displayed smoothly without a rough feeling.
An LCD display device for improving pattern display of a fourth aspect of the present invention is the LCD display device for improving pattern display of the third aspect of the present invention, characterized in that the special-shaped display element is configured to be square by a first special-shaped line segment portion and a second special-shaped line segment portion, when any one of the first special-shaped line segment portion and the second special-shaped line segment portion of the special-shaped display element is lit and any other one is not lit, the entire special-shaped display element is used to display the special-shaped portion in the pattern, and when the first special-shaped line segment portion and the second special-shaped line segment portion of the special-shaped display element are lit simultaneously, the entire special-shaped display element is used to display the rectangular portion in the pattern and functions as the rectangular display element.
By constituting as described above, the shaped display element can display the shaped pattern in the pattern either individually or by lighting both portions simultaneously to display the rectangular portion in the pattern to function as the rectangular display element.
The LCD display device for improving pattern display of the fifth aspect of the present invention is the LCD display device for improving pattern display of any one of the first to fourth aspects of the present invention, characterized in that the LCD display device is adapted to a vehicle, and the LCD display is an instrument panel of the vehicle.
By constituting as described above, the LCD display device of the present invention can be preferably used for a vehicle, and can smoothly display an irregular portion (curved portion) in the pattern without a rough feeling on the dashboard of the vehicle.
The LCD display device for improving pattern display of the sixth aspect of the invention is the LCD display device for improving pattern display of the fifth aspect of the invention, characterized in that the number of the odd-shaped display elements is smaller than the number of the rectangular display elements.
With the above configuration, if all the patterns (both the pattern expressed by the rectangular shape and the pattern including the curved shape) are displayed by using the special-shaped display elements, the number of the special-shaped display elements in the LCD display device becomes large, and the number of portions (the sum of the number of the rectangular display elements and the number of the portions of the special-shaped display elements) to be independently controlled by the dot-shaped LCD driver IC becomes larger than the case where the special-shaped display elements are used only for the pattern including the curved shape. By making the number of the odd-shaped display elements smaller than the number of the rectangular display elements, power-on control can be performed using a common driver as much as possible, whereby the number of drivers in the dot-shaped LCD driver IC can be reduced.

Detailed Description
Hereinafter, a specific structure of the LCD display device for improving pattern display according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic structure of an LCD display device 1 for improving pattern display according to the present invention.
As shown in fig. 1, the LCD display device 1 includes an LCD display 10 and a display control circuit 20, the LCD display 10 includes an LCD glass frame 11, a display portion 12, a dot-shaped LCD driver integrated circuit board (driver IC)13, and a flexible printed circuit board (FPC)14, and the display control circuit 20 includes a control CPU21, a power supply circuit 22, and an input processing circuit 23.
The LCD display 10 is, for example, a dashboard of a vehicle, but it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the LCD display is not so limited and its use may be extended to any other suitable field.
The LCD glass bezel 11 of the LCD display 10 protects the display unit 12, the dot-shaped LCD driver ICs 13, the FPC14, and the like provided inside the LCD display 10, thereby protecting the above-mentioned area and the electronic components from the outside to some extent.
The display section 12 of the LCD display 10 is an area for displaying various patterns. For example, when the LCD display 10 is a dashboard of a vehicle, various patterns such as arabic numerals, letters (chinese characters, japanese hiragana), signs (letters), and signs (images of the vehicle, etc.) can be displayed on the display unit 12. In addition, in the display section 12, there are independently controlled display regions 12a corresponding to each pattern to be displayed. That is, in each individual display region 12a, a specific pattern can be displayed.
The dot-shaped LCD driver IC13 is integrated with, for example, a driver for driving (the liquid crystal display elements of the liquid crystal display section 15 of) each of the display regions 12a, and controls power on (on) and power off (off) of (the liquid crystal display elements of the liquid crystal display section 15 of) each of the display regions 12a by the driver.
The FPC14 is a cable for transmitting an electric signal.
The power supply circuit 22 supplies power to the CPU21 and the LCD driver IC13 mounted on the liquid crystal display section 15.
The input processing circuit 23 is a circuit for converting a signal sent from the vehicle in a communication manner or input in an analog signal manner into LCD display information.
Next, the distribution of the liquid crystal display elements of the liquid crystal display section 15 in the display area 12a of the display section 12 of the LCD display 10 according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described by taking fig. 2 as an example. Fig. 2 is a diagram showing an example of display in one display region of the liquid crystal display section 15 having the rectangular display element 15a and the irregular display element 15b of the present invention, for example, a symbol of "o" in the "airbag and seat belt abnormality" mark.
As shown in fig. 2, one or more liquid crystal display sections 15 are provided in a display area 12a of a display section 12 of an LCD display 10, and a specific pattern is displayed in the display area 12a of the display section 12 by turning on or off the one or more liquid crystal display sections 15. The size of the liquid crystal display section 15 is, for example, about 8mm long × 7mm wide, but the present invention is not limited to the above size.
The liquid crystal display section 15 is constituted by a plurality of liquid crystal display elements. More specifically, the above-described liquid crystal display section 15 is constituted by a plurality of rectangular display elements 15a and a plurality of odd-shaped display elements 15 b. The size of the liquid crystal display element is, for example, a square of about 0.3mm to 0.5mm, but the present invention is not limited to the above size. In addition, it is preferable that the number of the odd-shaped display elements 15b is smaller than the number of the rectangular display elements 15 a.
The entire rectangular display element 15a is a display unit, and when the rectangular display element is powered on, the entire liquid crystal display element is turned on, and when the rectangular display element is powered off, the entire liquid crystal display element is turned off. The plurality of rectangular display elements 15a are independently driven and controlled by the dot-shaped LCD driver IC 13.
Similarly to the plurality of rectangular display elements 15a, the plurality of irregular display elements 15b are also independently driven and controlled by the dot-shaped LCD driver IC 13. Each of the above-described shaped display elements 15b is constituted by a plurality of shaped line segment parts (in fig. 2, for example, a first shaped line segment part 15b1 and a second shaped line segment part 15b2 divided by one shaped dividing line 15 bL) divided by one or more shaped dividing lines. In addition, the shapes of the various shaped segment portions (first shaped segment portion 15b1, second shaped segment portion 15b2) of each shaped display element 15b may be different from each other or some of them may be the same, and in some particular cases, may even be identical, with the various portions of each shaped display element 15b combining to form a shape equivalent to a rectangular display element 15 a.
In the liquid crystal display section 15, the plurality of shaped line segment portions (the first shaped line segment portion 15b1 and the second shaped line segment portion 15b2) of each shaped display element 15b are divided for each pattern to be displayed so that a dividing line between the shaped line segment portions (the first shaped line segment portion 15b1 and the second shaped line segment portion 15b2) of different shaped display elements (15b), that is, the shaped dividing line 15bL matches a part of the outer contour of the pattern to be displayed.
In fig. 2, the first and second shaped line segment portions 15b1 and 15b2 of each shaped display element 15b are independently subjected to drive control by a dot-shaped LCD driver IC 13. When a part (e.g., the first irregularly-shaped segment portion 15b1) of the irregularly-shaped display element 15b is energized and another part (e.g., the second irregularly-shaped segment portion 15b2) is de-energized, the entire liquid crystal display element displays the energized part. In addition, when all the portions (e.g., the first irregularly-shaped line segment portion 15b1 and the second irregularly-shaped line segment portion 15b2) of the irregularly-shaped display element 15b are energized, the entire liquid crystal display element is lit up to function substantially equivalent to the above-described rectangular display element 15a, whereas if all the portions (e.g., the first irregularly-shaped line segment portion 15b1 and the second irregularly-shaped line segment portion 15b2) of the irregularly-shaped display element 15b are de-energized, the entire liquid crystal display element is turned off.
In the liquid crystal display section 15, the irregular-shaped display element 15b is formed so as to divide a plurality of irregular-shaped line segment portions (the first irregular-shaped line segment portion 15b1 and the second irregular-shaped line segment portion 15b2) in such a manner that a specific irregular-shaped pattern (the "∘" shaped mark in fig. 2) is displayed smoothly and without a rough feeling.
Fig. 3 is a diagram showing an example of display in a display area in which, for example, an o-shaped mark in the "airbag and seatbelt abnormality" indication is displayed in a conventional liquid crystal display section 15 'having only a rectangular display element 15 b' without a special-shaped display element.
Since the liquid crystal display element 15 ' has only the rectangular display element 15b ', the entire liquid crystal display element 15b ' is turned on when power is turned on, and turned off when power is turned off. For example, in the case where the "o" mark is shown in fig. 3, the outer periphery of the "o" mark is not smooth and has a rough feeling.
However, if the configuration of the plurality of rectangular display elements 15a and the plurality of irregular display elements 15b as in the present invention is employed, a specific irregular pattern can be displayed smoothly without a rough feeling.
The present invention is described above by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, and it is to be understood that the specific implementations of the present invention are not limited to the above-described embodiments. Additional advantages and modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details and representative embodiments shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general inventive concept as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
For example, in the above-described embodiment, as shown in fig. 2 and 3, only the o-shaped mark in the "airbag and seatbelt abnormality" indication is shown, but the present invention is not limited thereto. In fig. 4(a) and 4(b), a diagram showing a display example at one display region of the numeral "2" is compared, and in fig. 5(a) and 5(b), a diagram showing a display example at the entire display region of the "airbag and seatbelt abnormality" indicator is compared. In fig. 4(a) and 5(a), the case of the liquid crystal display section 15 in the display area 12 having the rectangular display element and the odd-shaped display element of the present invention is shown, and in fig. 4(b) and 5(b), the case of the liquid crystal display section 15 'in the existing display area 12' having only the rectangular display element is shown.
As clearly seen by enlarging the contrast, in the case of the liquid crystal display section of the present invention having the rectangular display element and the irregularly shaped display element, a specific irregularly shaped pattern can be displayed smoothly without a rough feeling.
In the case of fig. 5a, an example is described in which a plurality of liquid crystal display sections 15 are provided in the display area 12a of the display section 12 of the LCD display 10, and for example, one of the liquid crystal display sections 15 shows an o-shaped mark (airbag abnormality) in the "airbag and seatbelt abnormality" mark, and the other display section 15 shows a man-shaped mark (seatbelt abnormality) in the "airbag and seatbelt abnormality" mark. In addition, the plurality of liquid crystal display sections 15 provided in the display area 12a of the display section 12 of the LCD display 10 may be independently controlled, for example, only the "o" shaped mark or the human shaped mark may be displayed to indicate an airbag abnormality or a seatbelt abnormality, or both the "o" shaped mark and the human shaped mark may be displayed to indicate an "airbag and seatbelt abnormality".
In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 2, the case where each of the above-described shaped display elements 15b is constituted by two shaped line segment portions 15b1, 15b2 divided by one shaped dividing line 15bL has been described, but the present invention is not limited to this, and depending on each shaped pattern to be displayed, it is also possible to make some or some of the shaped display elements constituted by a plurality of shaped line segment portions divided by a plurality of shaped dividing lines, and for example, in fig. 5(a), there is a case where one shaped display element 15b is divided by three shaped dividing lines 15bL1, 15bL2, 15bL3 into four shaped line segment portions 15b1, 15b2, 15b3, 15b 4. At this time, when a certain one of the shaped line segments (for example, the shaped line segment portion 15b3) of the certain one or some of the shaped display elements is energized, the entire display unit (i.e., the certain one or some of the shaped display elements) displays a part of the shaped portion of the pattern corresponding to the portion where the energized shaped line segment portion 15b3 appears.
The divided irregular line segment may be in the shape of a circle (circular arc), a triangle, a quadrangle, a trapezoid, a star, or the like, or may be in the shape of a curve having a part of irregularities.
