Description

Applicator for applying a cosmetic, makeup or care product to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an applicator for applying a cosmetic, makeup or care product (for example mascara) to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows.
The invention also relates to a device having a container containing a product to be applied and preferably provided with a wiping member, and an applicator.
Background
Application EP 1070466 discloses an applicator having an application element located on one side of the core and disposed on either side of a longitudinal rib resting on said core.
Disclosure of Invention
There is a need for further improvements in applicators for applying a product, in particular mascara, to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows, in order to improve the performance thereof, and more particularly to facilitate the formation of a greater volume of product-loaded areas on the applicator member, which allows for easy application of the cosmetic and rapid and sufficient loading of the eyelashes and/or eyebrows, while maintaining a high ability to separate the eyelashes and/or eyebrows.
The present invention is intended to meet this object, and the subject-matter according to one aspect of the invention is an applicator for applying a cosmetic, makeup or care product to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows, having a moulded applicator member with:
a core extending along a longitudinal axis,
-spikes carried by the core, and
-reinforcing sails for the spikes, connected by their base to the core, extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the core and arranged in a plurality of longitudinal rows, at least one first longitudinal row being axially offset with respect to a second longitudinal row.
By reinforcing the sails, the base of the spikes is reinforced with respect to the bending in the longitudinal direction and the spikes bend less during the extraction of the applicator, which tends to prevent the wiping of the core. This makes it possible to obtain, on the applicator member, between the rows and between the spikes of the rows, in particular at the bases of the spikes, areas forming reservoirs which are less wiped when the applicator passes through the wiping member, so as to provide a residual product along the entire length of the core and around the entire core after wiping. This remaining product allows the eyelashes and/or eyebrows to be loaded with a large and satisfactory amount of product from the first application.
During the application of the cosmetic product, the eyelashes and/or eyebrows come into contact with these areas, which are gradually emptied of their contents. Thus, the eyelashes and/or eyebrows are properly loaded with product without the user having to reload the applicator too frequently by reintroducing the applicator into the container.
During manufacture, the height and shape of the reinforcing sails may be varied in order to adjust the amount of product that the applicator is loaded with after wiping.
The expression "longitudinal axis of the core" refers to the line connecting the centroids of all cross sections of the core. The longitudinal axis may be the central axis, or even the axis of symmetry of the core, in particular when the core has a circular cross section or a cross section having the overall shape of a regular polygon. The longitudinal axis of the core may be straight or curved and may be contained in a plane, which may be a plane of symmetry of some or even all of the cross-sections of the core. Preferably, the longitudinal axis of the core is rectilinear.
The term "spikes" refers to personalizable protruding elements for engaging the eyelashes and/or eyebrows.
The expression "axially offset longitudinal rows" should be understood to mean that the reinforcing sails of the same rank in these rows do not occupy the same position along the longitudinal axis of the core.
Reinforced sail part
Two opposite reinforcing sails are advantageously located on either side of each spike of the applicator member. The two opposite reinforcing sails may be symmetrical about the median plane of the spikes between them.
In a preferred embodiment, the connection between the reinforcing sail and the spikes is made along the ridges of the reinforcing sail, parallel to the elongation axis of the spikes. The expression "elongation axis of the spike" denotes an axis passing through the centroid of the cross section of the spike.
In one longitudinal row, the reinforcing sails of two consecutive spikes advantageously define a channel between each other. This makes it possible to create a reservoir of product between the spikes, providing a large load from the first application.
The groove may have a rounded bottom and is in particular cylindrical about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core. The grooves preferably extend completely at a non-zero distance from the core.
The reinforcing sails advantageously have an approximately triangular shape when the applicator member is viewed in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the applicator member, and their obliquely extending sides may have a gradient of between 10 ° and 55 ° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the core.
In two adjacent longitudinal rows, the reinforcing sails of the spikes may not be connected at their bases. In one variant, two adjacent longitudinal rows of reinforcing sails are connected together.
The height of the reinforcing sails is preferably less than the height of the spikes, and in particular less than three-quarters of the height of the spikes. The expression "height of the reinforcing sail" means the height of the ridge connecting the reinforcing sail to the point (to which the reinforcing sail is connected), measured along the elongation axis of the point. The expression "height of the spike" means the distance between its free end and its base, measured along the elongation axis of the spike, by which the spike is connected to the core.
The ratio between the height of the reinforcing sails and the height of the spikes may be between 0.05 and 0.2, better still between 0.06 and 0.15.
The height of the reinforcing sails may be constant along the longitudinal axis of the core, and in particular between 0.1mm and 0.5mm, better still between 0.15mm and 0.35 mm. In one variant, the height of the reinforcing sails varies along the longitudinal axis of the core, for example within one or more longitudinal rows and/or from one longitudinal row to another.
The thickness of the reinforcing sails may be less than the thickness of the spikes. The expression "thickness of the reinforcing sail" means the maximum transverse dimension of the reinforcing sail in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core. The expression "thickness of the spikes" means the maximum transverse dimension of the spikes in a section perpendicular to the elongation axis of the spikes and to the longitudinal axis of the core.
The thickness of the reinforcing sails may be between 0.2mm and 0.75mm, better still between 0.35mm and 0.65mm, and in particular equal to about 0.4 mm.
The width of the reinforcing sails at their base is advantageously constant along the longitudinal axis of the core. The expression "width of the reinforcing sail" means the maximum transverse dimension of the reinforcing sail in section along the longitudinal axis of the core. The width of the reinforcing sails at their base may be between 0.2mm and 2mm, better still between 0.5mm and 0.9mm, and for example equal to 0.6mm or 1 mm.
The reinforcing sails may narrow in the direction of the spikes, i.e. their thickness and their width may decrease in the direction of the free ends of the spikes.
Core and spikes
The spikes advantageously extend from the core and extend around the core. For example at least eight longitudinal rows of spikes.
The spikes and the reinforcing sails are advantageously arranged on the applicator member in a plurality of preferably rectilinear longitudinal rows.
Each longitudinal row is preferably axially offset with respect to the successive longitudinal rows.
The spikes and reinforcing sails in every other longitudinal row may all be at the same axial position along the longitudinal axis of the core.
The number of longitudinal rows may be even.
The spikes in two adjacent longitudinal rows may not be connected at their bases.
Within the same longitudinal row, the spacing between two spikes of rank n and rank n +1, measured along the longitudinal axis of the row, between their two respective median planes, may be between 0.5mm and 2.5mm, better still between 1mm and 2mm, and in particular equal to about 1.8 mm.
The spikes can also be arranged in circumferential rows, called crowns of spikes, each formed by a spike occupying the same axial position on the longitudinal axis of the core.
The implantation of the spikes may be such that the angular offset α between two consecutive crowns of spikes about the longitudinal axis of the core is non-zero, preferably equal to half the pitch angle β between two consecutive spikes in the same crown.
At the point where the spikes are attached to the core, at least one spike may extend from the core along an axis of elongation perpendicular to the surface of the core. Preferably, the spikes each extend from the core along an elongate axis perpendicular to the surface of the core at the point where the spike is attached to the core.
In one variant, at the point where the spikes are attached to the core, the elongation axis of the spikes forms an angle with the surface of the core which is not equal to 90 °.
The height of the at least one spike, measured from the core, may be between 0.5mm and 3mm, better still between 0.75mm and 2 mm.
Preferably, the height of the spikes varies along the longitudinal axis of the core, for example in a monotonic manner. In one variant, the height of the spikes is constant along the longitudinal axis of the core.
The spikes may have a flat cross-section, that is to say a cross-section over at least part of their height, measured perpendicular to their direction of elongation, which has an elongated shape in a flat plane, that is to say a width which is greater than the thickness.
Some of the spikes on the applicator, even all of them, may have a thickness of between 0.3mm and 0.85mm, better still between 0.45mm and 0.75mm, said thickness being in particular equal to about 0.5 mm.
Some of the spikes, even all of the spikes on the applicator may have a width of between 0.2mm and 0.8mm, better still between 0.35mm and 0.65mm, said width being in particular equal to about 0.4 mm. The expression "width of the spikes" refers to the largest transverse dimension of the spikes in a section along the longitudinal axis of the core.
The spikes may have any shape, in particular a cylindrical or conical shape, and preferably a conical shape. In a variant, the spikes have a semi-conical, frustoconical or pyramidal shape, in particular a pyramid with a hexagonal base. In another variant, the spikes have an asymmetrical shape in front view and an outwardly convex edge, narrowing in at least a portion of the height from the core and having a width decreasing towards said convex edge.
The cross-section of the spikes may have a substantially circular, semi-circular (called half-moon), elliptical or semi-elliptical shape, or may also be, for example, polygonal, in particular hexagonal.
The at least one spike may end with a rounded, in particular hemispherical, free end, the radius of curvature of which may be between 0.08mm and 0.2mm, and for example equal to about 0.15 mm.
The free ends of the spikes of the applicator member define an envelope surface of the applicator member, which is for example in the form of a cylinder of revolution along at least a portion of the length of the applicator member.
The envelope surface may have a maximum transverse dimension that is substantially constant along at least a portion of the length of the applicator member, in particular along more than half of the portion of the core carrying the spikes.
The envelope surface may also have a cross-section that varies along all or part of the length of the applicator member. The cross-section of the envelope surface may for example have one or more extrema, such as at least one local minimum and two local maxima. The diameter of the envelope surface passing through the top of the spikes of minimum height may be between 5mm and 7.5mm, and for example equal to about 6 mm. The diameter of the envelope surface of the applicator member passing through the top of the spikes of maximum height may be between 6.5mm and 11mm, and for example equal to about 7.5 mm.
The core may have a cross-section of any shape, in particular a circular shape, taken perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. The diameter of the maximum cross section of the core (i.e. in case the cross section of the core has a circular shape) may be between 1.8mm and 3.2mm, and in particular equal to about 2.8 mm.
The core, the spikes and the reinforcing sails may be moulded from one and the same material, or in a variant they may be made of at least two different materials.
The core and/or the spikes and/or the reinforcing sails are preferably made of a thermoplastic material, in particular an elastomeric thermoplastic material.
Applicator
The applicator may have a stem carrying the applicator member at a first end and fixed to the gripping member at a second end.
The core may be solid, for example moulded together with an end piece for fixing to a stem of the applicator.
The applicator member may be fixed to the stem by snap fastening, adhesive bonding, welding, crimping, stamping, stapling, press fitting, fitting in the cold state or fitting in the hot state, for example by the end piece of the applicator member being mounted into a housing in the stem. In a variant, the rod may be housed in a housing provided inside the core.
The stem and the applicator member may or may not be moulded in one piece from the same thermoplastic material.
The spikes and/or the reinforcing sails may be made of a material that is more or less rigid than the material used to make the stem of the applicator attached to the core.
The core may extend along a longitudinal axis which forms a non-zero angle with the longitudinal axis of the rod to which it is secured at least one point along its length. The applicator member may be angled at the attachment to the stem.
The stem may have a first rigid portion extending distally with a second more flexible portion carrying the applicator member, for example made of an elastomer.
The visible length of the applicator member may be between 18mm and 35mm, better still between 22mm and 29mm, and for example equal to about 24.5 mm.
The applicator may have 150 to 456 spikes, for example 168 to 300 spikes.
The first spike, starting from the stem along the longitudinal axis of the core, may be disposed at a non-zero distance from the proximal end of the core, in particular between 0.2mm and 0.7 mm. The last spike from the stem along the longitudinal axis of the core may be disposed at a non-zero distance from the distal end of the core, in particular between 0.3mm and 0.9 mm.
Smearing device
Another subject of the invention is a device for packaging and applying a product to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows, having an applicator according to the invention as defined above and a container containing the product to be applied.
The gripping member of the applicator may form a cap for closing the container.
The container may have a wiping member adapted to wipe the wand and the applicator member, which advantageously has a wiping lip defining an aperture.
The ratio between the diameter of the circumscribed circle having the longitudinal axis of the core as its center and passing through the top of the reinforcing sail in a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core, and the diameter of the hole defined by the lip of the wiping member may be between 0.55 and 1.15.
The product is preferably mascara.
Drawings
The invention may be better understood by reading the following detailed description of non-limiting embodiments of the invention and by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 is a schematic front view, partly in longitudinal section, of an exemplary packaging and application device made according to the present invention;
figure 2 shows a perspective view of the applicator member in figure 1, in itself;
figures 2A and 2B show a detail of the applicator member of figure 2;
figure 3 is a longitudinal section of a detail of the applicator member of figure 2; and
figure 4 is a section along IV-IV of the applicator member of figure 2.
Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows a packaging and application device 1 made according to the invention, having an applicator 2 and an associated container 3, the container 3 containing a product P to be applied to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows, for example mascara or a care product.
In the example in question, the container 3 has a threaded neck 4, and the applicator 2 has a closure cap 5 designed to be fixed on the neck 4 so as to close the container 3 in a sealed manner when it is not in use, the closure cap 5 also forming a gripping member for the applicator 2.
The applicator 2 has a stem 7 with a longitudinal axis Y, the stem 7 being attached at its upper end to the closure cap 5 and at its lower end to the applicator member 8. The applicator member 8 has a core 10 carrying spikes 18, the spikes 18 extending from the core 10 and encircling the core. As can be seen in figure 2, the first spikes 18, starting from the stem 7 along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10, are arranged at a non-zero distance d from the proximal end 11 of the coretA is dtFor example equal to about 0.35 mm. The last spike 18, starting from the stem 7 along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10, is arranged at a non-zero distance d from the distal end 12 of the core 10dFor example equal to about 0.55 mm.
The container 3 also has a wiping member 6 inserted into the neck 4.
In the example in question, the wiping member 6 (which may be of any suitable type) has a lip designed to wipe the stem 7 and the applicator member 8 when the applicator 2 is withdrawn from the container 3. The lip defines a wiping hole 6a having a diameter adapted to the diameter of the rod 7. The wiping member 6 may be made of an elastomer. The wiping hole 6a has, for example, a circular shape.
Diameter of the wiping hole 6a
Figure BDA0001270514130000081
Typically between 3mm and 5.5mm, for example about 4.5mm or 5 mm.
In the example shown, the rod 7 has a circular cross section, but without departing from the scope of the invention if the rod 7 has some other cross section, it is also possible to fix the lid 5 to the container 3 in some other way than by screwing, if necessary. The wiping member 6 is adapted, if appropriate, to the shape of the stem 7 and to the shape of the applicator member 8.
Preferably, and as in the example in question, when the applicator 2 is in position on the container 3, the longitudinal axis Y of the stem 7 is rectilinear and coincides with the longitudinal axis of the container 3, but this does not depart from the scope of the invention if the stem 7 is not rectilinear, for example forming an elbow.
If desired, the lever 7 may have an annular narrowing at its portion located opposite the lip of the wiping member 6, in order not to mechanically press the lip of the wiping member 6 excessively during storage.
As shown in fig. 2, the applicator member 8 may have an endpiece 9 for fixing it in a corresponding housing of the stem 7.
The applicator member 8 may be fixed in the housing of the stem 7 by any means, in particular by press-fitting, snap-fastening, adhesive bonding, welding, nailing or crimping.
With reference to fig. 2, it can be seen that the core 10 has an elongated shape along a longitudinal axis X, which is rectilinear in the example described. The longitudinal axis X may be a central axis, as shown.
The visible length H of the applicator member 8 is for example equal to 24.5 mm.
In the example shown, at the point where the spikes 18 are attached to the core 10, the spikes 18 each extend from the core 10 along an elongation axis W perpendicular to the core surface.
As can be seen in particular in fig. 2, the applicator member 8 has reinforcing sails 13 for the spikes 18, the reinforcing sails 13 being attached to the core 10 by their base and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the core 10.
Two opposite reinforcing sails 13 are advantageously located on either side of each spike 18 of the applicator member 8, said reinforcing sails 13 being symmetrical about a median plane M of the spikes 18 between them, in the example described and as can be seen in particular in fig. 3.
In the example in question, as shown in fig. 2A, the connection between the reinforcing sail 13 and the spikes 18 is made along the ridges 13a of the reinforcing sail 13, parallel to the elongation axis W of the spikes 18.
In the example described, as can be seen in particular in fig. 2, the spikes 18 and the reinforcing sails 13 are arranged in a plurality of rectilinear longitudinal rows 17, 19, 20 on the applicator member 8, each longitudinal row 17 of spikes being axially offset with respect to the adjacent longitudinal row 19.
As shown in fig. 2, in every other longitudinal row (for example between longitudinal row 17 and longitudinal row 20), the spikes 18 and the reinforcing sails 13 advantageously all occupy the same axial position along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10.
In the example in question, the number of longitudinal rows is even, for example equal to 12.
As can be seen in particular in fig. 2A, the spikes 18 in two adjacent longitudinal rows 17, 19 may not be connected at their base, as is the case with the reinforcing sails 13 in two adjacent longitudinal rows.
As shown in particular in fig. 2A, within one longitudinal row 17, the reinforcing sails 13 of two consecutive spikes 18 advantageously define between each other a groove 13b, in the example in question, the groove 13b having a rounded bottom and being cylindrical with respect to an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X of the core 10. Said grooves 13b preferably extend a non-zero distance d from the core 10g,dgFor example between 0.05mm and 0.3 mm.
In the example described, the reinforcing sails 13 have an approximately triangular shape, in particular with a gradient between 10 ° and 55 ° with respect to the longitudinal axis X of the core 10.
As can be seen in FIG. 4, for example, the height h of the reinforced sails 13vPreferably less than the height h of the spikes 18pAnd in particular less than the height h of the spikes 18pThree quarters of (1).
Height h of the reinforced sail 13vHeight h of the spikes 18pH ratio ofv/hpMay be between 0.05 and 0.2, better still between 0.06 and 0.15.
Height h of the reinforced sail 13vMay be constant along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10 and for example between 0.1mm and 0.5mm, better still between 0.15mm and 0.35 mm.
The diameter of the circumscribed circle (having the longitudinal axis X of the core 10 as its centre and passing through the top 13c of the reinforced sail 13)

With the diameter of the aperture 6a defined by the lip of the wiping member 6
Figure BDA0001270514130000103
May be between 0.55 and 1.15.
As shown in fig. 2B, the thickness e of the reinforcing sail 13vAdvantageously less than the thickness e of the spikes 18p. Thickness e of the reinforced sail 13vMay be between 0.35mm and 0.65mm, for example equal to about 0.4 mm.
The width l of the reinforcing sail 13 at its basevAdvantageously constant along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10. The width l of the reinforcing sail 13 at its basevMay be between 0.5mm and 0.9mm and equal to 0.6mm, for example.
The reinforcing sails 13 may narrow in the direction of the spikes 18, their thickness and width decreasing in the direction of the free ends 18e of the spikes 18.
As can be seen in FIG. 2, the height h of the spikes 18pMay vary along the longitudinal axis X of the core 10. Height hpMay be reduced towards the distal end 12 of the core 10 to facilitate insertion into the container 3. The height hpMay be between 0.5mm and 3mm, better still between 0.75mm and 2 mm.
Referring to fig. 4, the diameter of the envelope formed by the tips 18 of minimum height
Figure BDA0001270514130000101
May be between 5mm and 7.5mm and, for example, equal to about 5.6 mm. The diameter of the envelope surface of the applicator member 8 formed by the spikes 18 of maximum height

May be between 6.5mm and 11mm and, for example, equal to about 7.5 mm.
As can be seen in particular in fig. 4, the spike 18 can narrow in the direction of its free end 28 in a side view.
As in the example discussed, the spikes 18Thickness e ofpMay be between 0.3mm and 0.7mm and, for example, equal to about 0.5 mm.
Width l of the spikes 18pMay be between 0.35mm and 0.65mm and, for example, equal to about 0.4 mm.
As can be seen in particular in fig. 4, the implantation of the spikes 18 may be such that the angle α about the longitudinal axis X of the core 10 between two consecutive crowns 21 and 22 of the spikes 18, each formed by a spike occupying the same axial position on the longitudinal axis X of the core 10, is a non-zero angle, this angle α being equal to half the pitch angle β between two consecutive spikes in one crown, for example.
As in the example described, the spacing S between two consecutive spikes 18 within the same longitudinal row 17pMay be between 1mm and 2mm and equal to 1.8mm, for example.
The spikes 18 may have various shapes. In the example in question, and as can be seen in particular in fig. 4, the spikes 18 have a conical shape.
In the example in question, the free ends 28 of the spikes 18 define an envelope surface S of the applicator member 8 having a rectilinear longitudinal axis coinciding with the longitudinal axis X of the core 10 and being rotationally symmetrical about said axis X.
In the example in question, the spikes 18 and the reinforcing sails 13 are made in one piece with the core 10 by moulding a thermoplastic material.
For moulding the applicator member 8, any relatively rigid or not rigid thermoplastic material may be used, such as SEBS, silicone, latex, materials with improved slip properties, butyl rubber, EPDM, nitrile, thermoplastic elastomers, polyester elastomers, polyamide elastomers, polyethylene elastomers or vinyl elastomers, polyolefins (e.g. PE or PP), PVC, EVA, PS, SEBS, SIS, PET, POM, PU, SAM, PA or PMMA. Ceramics (e.g., alumina-based ceramics), resins (e.g., urea-formaldehyde type resins), and materials that may include graphite as a filler may also be used. In particular, trade names may be used
Figure BDA0001270514130000112
And
Figure BDA0001270514130000113
known materials, this list is not limiting.
To use the device 1, the user unscrews the closure cap 5 and withdraws the applicator member 8 from the container 3.
Once the applicator member 8 has passed the wiping member 6, a certain amount of product P remains between the spikes 18, in the grooves of the reinforcing sails 13 and between the rows, the spikes 18 not bending at their base when passing the wiping member 6, thus forming a reservoir of product P on all sides along the entire length of the core 10, making it possible to load the eyelashes and/or eyebrows with product P in a satisfactory manner.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments which have just been described.
The applicator member 8 is capable of vibrating, that is to say, vibrations may be applied to the applicator member 8 during application, combing or picking up of the product P, as described for example in application WO 2006/090343.
In another variant, the applicator member 8 is rotatable, that is to say it can be made to perform a rotary motion about the longitudinal axis X of the core 10, for example during application, combing or picking up of the product P.
In another variant, the applicator member 8 can be heated, that is to say the applicator member 8 has heating elements for heating the keratin fibres, the eyelashes and/or the eyebrows and/or the spikes 18 and/or the core 10 and/or the reinforcing sails 13 of the applicator member 8.
It is also possible that the applicator member 8 is able to vibrate, is able to rotate and be heated, or is only able to vibrate and be heated, or is only able to rotate and be heated, or is only able to vibrate, or is only able to rotate or is only able to be heated.
The applicator member 8 may comprise any antiseptic agent, such as silver salts, copper salts, antiseptic agents and at least one antiseptic agent for the product P.
Furthermore, the core 10 and/or the spikes 18 and/or the reinforcing sails 13 may also comprise particles, such as fillers, in particular magnetic, bacteriostatic or hygroscopic compounds, or compounds for creating roughness on the surface of the spikes 18 and/or the surface of the reinforcing sails 13 or for helping the eyelashes and/or eyebrows slide on the spikes and/or the reinforcing sails. At least one of the core 10, the spikes 18 and the reinforcing sails 13 may be flocked or subjected to any thermal or mechanical treatment.
The expression "having a" should be understood as being synonymous with "having at least one", and "between … …" should be understood as including the endpoints, unless specified to the contrary.
