A direct type light-emitting diode (LED) backlight module comprises a back plate, a light bar sub-plate, a plurality of LED light bars and one or more local dimming control plates. The back plate is provided with a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first support is provided with a groove, and the second surface is provided with one or more through holes communicating with the groove. The light bar sub-plate is arranged in the groove and provided with a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, the first face is provided with a plurality of first connectors which protrude out of the groove, and the second face is provided with one or more second connectors. Each second connector penetrates through the corresponding through hole to protrude out of the second surface, and the first connectors are electrically connected with the second connectors correspondingly through a circuit arranged on the light bar sub-plate. The LED light bars are arranged on the first surface, and each LED light bar is provided with a third connector which is connected with the corresponding first connector. The local dimming control plates are arranged on the second surface and each provided with a fourth connector which is connected with the corresponding second connector.
